I bought a Ninja Grill some weeks ago, partly or mostly after watching your videos. Its been sitting on my counter top looking all shiny and new. Until yesterday all I had done was stand close to it, stare admiringly and lift the lid a few times. Which I found strangely satisfying. Yesterday for first time use I roasted a whole chicken. At just over 3lb it fitted in nicely (without being spatchcockef). I poured a Lille olive oil, rubbed in chicken season and a little jerk seasoning. Roasted breast side down for 15 minutes then flipped for 20 minutes or thereabouts. It was so tasty and juicy. What surprised me was not a lot of juice in the pan when finished cooking and what there was seemed to be burnt. I thought here we go let’s get scrubbing but no just a quick wipe with a cloth and it was clean. Amazing! TLDR Ninja Grill is amazing. Easy to use, produces lovely food and is so easy to clean. BTW Love your videos Keep ‘em coming
I have always been impressed with ninja's ceramic coating... it always cleans up easier than I expect... your recipe and method sounds really good...thanks for sharing that and thank you for watching!!!
Thank you JOHN for explaining how to roast a chicken I am expecting my ninja today in the mail I did not get the one with the probe I got the AG 302 I already have a new wave that I bought on QVC and I also have a little black and decker of an air baker combo so I’m running out of space in my kitchen for more appliances my house oven is extremely small so to compensate I have all these other kitchen Appliances to help with multiple dishes.👍🏼
Just bought a Foodi Grill, yesterday. Based on watching your shows. I have two instapot pressure cookers I love (and I'm experienced already with pressure cookers) and wanted to add an air fryer but have heard too many bad reports from folks who bought the new Instapot Vortex and Omni air fryer ovens (breakage, didn't work out of the box, hard to clean) - so went with the Ninja Foodi Grill. Didn't go for the Pro. Have a good thermometer already and like to do my own checking. My first attempt at using it will be a spatchcocked 3 lb chicken (locally grown, organic, free-range, fed on locally sourced non-GMO feeds). Our remote rural area is famous for locally grown free-range etc. meats of all kinds. I bought 20 of these fine little chickens from the grower because there is just my son and I. Saw a video on baking and roasting and yours on grilling. I'm going to grill. Wish me luck!
I cooked a 5.36lb chicken following your directions and it was delicious, however I did season overnight with lawrys, onion and garlic powder, paprika and fresh ground pepper . Spatchcocked is in my opinion the best way to cook a whole chicken on the Ninja Foodi. Thank you
It is a really really good way to make an excellent tasting chicken and the overnight marinate sounds like a really good idea!!! Thanks for sharing that!!!
I just cooked a 5.27 lb. in the Foodi Grill on the Air Crisp mode. 350 degs. for 1 hour and 10 minutes. I did 30 mins. breast side down and the rest of the time flipped upside right. I did not stuff it. Salt, pepper, and greek seasoning. Yummers!!!!!
Agreed! Another great find that my hispanic in-law turned me on to, years ago.... (found usually in ethnic aisle near refried beans/salsa & not spice aisle) An orange rectangular box w/ about 8 pkts inside. Called "GOYA.... & in smaller letters, con cuilantro" Has pics of fish, beef, chicken on box too, I think. I have some from a while ago, it's changed/updated a couple times over the years. Anyway, just a sprinkle on baked potato.... or up to one packet per lb+ of that on skirt steak.. chicken.. in casseroles.... anything... OMG, it's SO good. Like the spanish version of lawry's seasoned salt imho. Makes just enough difference that everyone is like, "oooh...so good... what did ya' put on this?!" ;) Still love Lawry's only tho, on burgers. Think 'cuz it takes me back to childhood & how my dad made them, idk. ENJOY. Stay safe & be well.
Outstanding, common sense vid...good deal. Just purchased the 5-in-1 Foodi Pro Grill w/meat probe a few days ago, loaded it up with some thighs...turned out excellent! They got gone quick!
Thanks for demoing this product, and more importantly, showing that not everything goes as planned (e.g. the chicken wasn't quite done in some parts despite the probe saying its area was done). I like these types of videos.
It is something you have to look out for...anytime your using a thermometer of any kind it is important to check several places, I always use probes as a guide which prevented me from pulling this chicken early...I believe everyone needs an instant read thermometer of some kind...thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great review!! We just got our Ninja Foodi Grill last week, took it for a test drive grilling chicken breasts tonight and it worked so well that we want to try a roast chicken next--your video was very helpful! I hardly know how to cook without Lawrys seasoned salt and seasoned pepper--I put those on just about everything. The Weber Beer Can Chicken Seasoning is also a great one. Costco sells an avocado oil spray that is a lot better than that Pam, might want to check it out. 😉
Thanks... glad you ennis the video and i hope i helped...I have a lot of different avacado sprays...I recently did some research and found the kind I like is one of 3 or 4 brands that do not use propellants...I haven't saw one at Costco but I will look for it next time I'm there...thanks and thanks for watching!!!
Hi John, Great video. Thanks I started using McCormicks Applewood grill mate rub and it reminds me of Lawrys but with very little salt. It adds great color but it’s the flavor that knocks it out of the part. Going to do this tomorrow with my new Ninja with the probe. Suzie
Thank you...glad you enjoyed it and that is an excellent idea...(it's really the best way to cook a chicken in almost every cooking method if you ask me)...thanks for watching!
🙋🏽♀️Another Great & Useful video Sir!! Love your Salmon and will definitely try this Chicken soon! I have to watch my Salt intake so I will switch to a Salt free alternative. 👍🏽
Hi John. I followed your tutorial for the whole chicken tonight and it came out amazing. I was very generous with the Lawry's and it made the skin a little too salty (who would have guessed that?). I used my probe thermometer to 155 and double checked with the instant read just like you said and it was cooked perfectly as it hit 165 in resting about 10 minutes. The breast may have been just a tad on the dry side. Next time I'm going to brine it a couple of hours 1st and go a little easier on the Lawry's. Thanks for a great step-by-step. Fast, easy, and delicious.
That is really good to hear David, glad you enjoyed it and those are some excellent suggestions...I love Lawry's but it does have a good bit of salt...thank you very much for trying the recipe and sharing your suggestions which may help others...thanks again!!!
I used Lawry salt over 40 years on all my meats but I never ever put that much on that it turns it orange. Lightly season with it then you have more of the chicken flavor than salt. I had to reduce that light amount with having high blood pressure. But to each there own taste.
Good looking bird. The only issue is finding a small chicken. It is next to impossible to find a chicken under 5 pounds in my area in any grocery store. The exception is buying an organic chicken. They tend to run a little smaller.
I think they are both excellent devices for what they do...I use my grill more than the oven but that just might be me...but they both do different items...for instance I can do 12 inch pizzas in the oven and can't in the grill but the grill fires a better steak in my opinion and gets hotter...510° Fahrenheit...hope this helps and thanks for watching!!
Do you think 2 game hens would fit without Spathcocked Method? Game hens are soooooo good and cooked whole one of the best tasting chickens out there in my opinion!
Great Video John. Have you had any issues with your grill plate? Mine started to flake a bit. I need to contact support I suppose. I've used that seasoning salt on quite a few things :)
Hello John, I’ve been hesitating on whether to go for the ninja grill pro or the regular one, the one without the temp probe. I’m a beginner at cooking and I understand that the pro version pretty much tells you when food is ready. With the regular one I would have to check on the temperature with a separate thermometer. Is it worth getting the pro for this or for other reasons? Thanks for your videos, they’ll be very helpful!
I like the pro for that reason... however ... everyone needs an Instant read thermometer whether the device has it or not just to double check other points or to make sure it is in the coolest part of the chicken... or whatever protein... it can also be used on other devices... thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders Thanks a lot John, one last question. My kitchen is rather small with no counter space available for the ninja grill. The only place available would be the top of my refrigerator. Do you see a problem there in terms of the temperatures the grill can reach? I have a two step ladder which is tall and firm enough so I could handle the food just fine, But I don’t know if the grill’s temperature could be an issue for the refrigerator. What do you think?
I've never had one in the situation so I'm not sure I have an answer... maybe you should ask ninja... they could answer a lot better... hope this helps...
Hey Jelly 007. Love your videos. I have a question. Do you have issues with this grill smoking up your home. I have seen several 1 star reviews for that reason.

Where did you get the Ninja grill pro? Does it come with the thermometer thing? Does it Air Fry too? I am seriously thinking about getting one. By the way, I love Lawry's!

If you take out the grill part and just place the chicken on top of some carrots in the bottom pan and air fry, would allow for a larger chicken.
