    Im a little disappointed that Ninja didn't help the depth of the original one and just name it bigger. But anyways thanks for the update CJ keep on keeping on I'll see you on the next one!

      I have had the XL for a few months, I think Ninja didnt want to take away from the pressure cooker/crisper sales, I agree it should have been deeper though.

      I agree. They actually reduced the depth on the xl. Not much of an upgrade imo. I bought the original and love it!! I would have bought xl if they had at least the same depth.

      I got the XL, I wanted more cooking space than the depth. I guess buyer should do research and figure what kind of cooking they would prefer I guess. I love mine, have not been dissatisfied.

    CJ good video. I have been watching a few of your videos since I purchased the Ninja XL grill. I am sorry to see that your whole chicken didn't come out as planned. I cooked a whole chicken weighing 3.99 lb successfuly tonight with out any issues. I used the air crisper tray and placed my chicken inside. The air crisper tray sits deep in the the pan. I used the thermometer throughout the entire cooking process. I ordered the roasting insert but I had not received it so I decided to use the crisper tray instead which worked out perfectly. The entire chicken was cooked to perfection. There was no touching of any kind at the top of the bird. I definitely plan on roasting more chicken in the near future. Looking forward to more of your videos.

    If someone really wants to cook a whole

    Good afternoon from the UK I don't know this I would have personally spatchcock the chicken and then lightning seasoned it with rapeseed oil and a little bit of season not too much at the beginning but if you want to over seasoning it then cover in rapeseed oil and then put it in a seal bag with your season of your choice that's the way we do it in them oven.

    I decided with buy the original and love it so far!!!. They should have made the xl with the same depth. With xl, you gain some grill space but lose the depth. For us, that was the deal breaker.

    The extra surface area is good if you're cooking steaks or burgers, but it's a bit limited if it can't cook a whole chicken.

    • @CookingWithCJ
      @CookingWithCJ  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can cook a whole chicken, it just needs to be spatchcocked. Which is the way I prefer to do whole chickens no matter how much room I have. Thanks for watching!

      This is what I’m telling people, if you grill a lot, then get the XL. If you use all the other functions more, then get the original. If you spatchcock the chicken a whole one will fit. Thanks for watching!

      Catherine Dowling everything cooks way faster than you think it will. Do not use propane grill times. Steaks burgers chicken will rarely ever take more than 6-10 minutes. You’ll figure out the times better more you use it.
