Short video on how to remove window tint and more importantly the glue that's left on your window. You can remove the left over glue in under 6 minutes.

Thank you for the video Chad. I have glue on my window and I've tried WD-40, alcohol, lighter fluid, and I think I've tried windex and it still won't come off. I'm going to use windex because I can't remember if I used it or not. Thanks bub.

Lol usually they give an insane price on removal because its time consuming and dreadful. So by giving a huge quote on removal itll deter them from wanting to pay so much to remvoe
You need to use the blow driver as you as you are pulling off the tint. Heating little sections and then feeling back the tint while it's still warm. That way it removes the tint and the glue off so you don't need to scrape afterwards
Hair dryer: yes, it allowed me to peel off the film fairly quickly Glue residue: 91% rubbing alcohol and paper towel. No razor scraping needed. 2 front windows film-and glue-free in less than 15 min.
AceTone nail polish remove. Works like a dream. No razor blade needed. Simply y with a paper towel and wipe clean! Did it with my car. The AceTone I used was purple in color.
If you use a heat gun to heat all of the tint up, it comes off very easily, without leaving the glue behind. Pull the tint with one hand while using the heat gun with the other hand, always keeping the glue heated up as you go.
I think if you had sprayed the top of the window, once you'd pulled a little tint sheet back, keeping liquid between the tint and glass, the liquid would have lubricated the glass and the tint would pull off easier.
I didn't even need to use a razor.i just sprayed, wiped and repeated. I had a very high quality tint job though. Lasted 12 years in the Florida sun not being garaged.
@@Datboyearks Mine worked well. Just be careful on the back window. I cut 3 of my defrost lines. They make a paint that supposedly reconnects them. Chad

Use the hair dryer the whole time. It will soften the glue and help it come off with the film and make life easier. That must be some crap Home Depot tint. Ive never seen glue come off that easy.

I was wiping my windows when i noticed area that didn't wanna go.I went to local garage they told me right away go to local car window specialist stubborn as i am didn't and try every possible tricks in the books toothpaste , compound , magic eraser you name it.Then exhausted contact the specialist talk about it on the phone and meet him.He said right away it's plastic tint windows. He did a 5 minute job for 1 window driver side for 35$.Then the other day front passenger side window same thing now i did it myself removed the plastic tint then the glue residue.I wasn't able to get it off till I saw your video and just did it myself this morning so satisfied. This really did work.By the way went down to this cause i tried shaving cream on windows for the fog doesn't work.
Thanks so much for this fantastic video. I used a combo of a generic window cleaner, Dawn with water and ammonia...about 1/2 ammonia, 1/4 window cleaner with about 1/8 cup Dawn and 1/4 water. I then cut the garbage bag covers for each window, sprayed and covered each window (I also sprayed on top of the plastic to make it very easy to smooth out over the window. Then it sat in the bright sun for about 1 hour. I continued with the instructions and...PRESTO! It peeled right off with practically no residue to clean up. For the little glue blotches left, I took some steel wool and sprayed the same solution; the glue lifted right off onto the steel wool!
Sylvia Reyes Thank you so much for posting Sylvia! I’m glad it worked out well for you. Those are some good tips for others trying the same thing. Chad

Im a few years late to comment but when you do plan on scrapping the window with a razor blade, be sure its a stainless steel blade or else you would end up scratching the glass. Nail polish remover works wonders as well.
I'm going to try this today. I have an old CRV I bought for a work vehicle. The previous owner did a horrible job tinting the windows. But not just that he layered tint over old tint! Who does that?!? I previously peeled the top layer but now I can't see through the window because of the glue residue. Going to give your method a try.
Thanks a lot brother!!!! This worked great and took me only 25 min!!! Fucking Cop 👮♀️ pulled me over and gave me a fix it ticket for my tint on my two front windows... oh well that’s life. Saved myself $60 to take it off. Thanks again!!!
This method look's to take a long... long... time to remove tint I guess if someone wants to spend extra...extra wasted time then use this method...the best way to remove window tint is get a steamer at Wall mart takes only five minutes or less per window guaranteed....
Baby shampoo and water. Razor blade scraper. Paper towels. Patience. When you pull old film off you should leave the bottom of it on top of the seal, as to not risk getting adhesive clumps and other contamination under the seal by having that old film to catch it instead. Change razor blades often and be careful applying too much heat, rubber seals and felt interior will melt/burn rather swiftly. This is still a stout tutorial though.
Nicholas Bone Thanks for the tips Nicholas! Those should be very helpful for others attempting this project. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Chad
Nice! :) I have a good way to do that too, I start the car, drive over to my brother and give him the keys, play with his kids while he does the work ;) Seriously, you have some good tips here, I was just thinking the other day that its time to do something about our window tint, so TY for sharing :P
Be warned, it mostly depends on the type of tint and how long it has been on there. I tried doing something very similar to this and the glue was much stronger on mine. I used all kinds of things and ended up trying WD40 and it still took hours to scrap it all off. Then I realized that there is a flat fee for someone who does this everyday to do it and it's not much. Regretted doing it myself.
This video is amazing!!! I was quoted 200 just to take tint off! My husband and I have never done anything with tint before and this video was so fantastic we got both windows off in about 30 minutes! We had trouble in the same corner you did and I ended up using the scraper and some tweezers to get that last bit out but this was great! Thank you!
Krista Homola That is so great! Thank you so much for posting. I’m glad I was able to save you some money. That was the point of making my crazy video. Thanks again. Chad
There are always alternative ways of doing things.I cringed when I watched the "pros" tint my car. They sprayed so much water into my window and into my rear dash speakers thankfully they were the original junk speakers. For Gods sake a towel or some sort of cover would have been the intelligent approach.I noticed in this video people mentioned using lighter fluid,Paint stripper etc. This is really bad advice. The steam off approach sounds the best.
This is an old video but I'm gonna try this on my 2010 f150. Someone did a shotty job on the drivers and passenger side on my truck. I seen this tint come off in one piece! I instantly thought that the old piece would make a great template to use to cut the new tint I plan to install. Good job man!
Thank you! Was quoted $150 at the MINIMUM...And turns out whoever tinted my truck's windows last had it done cheap, so I was able to get it off all four of the windows I needed them off in about an hour. Turns out that failed the truck for inspection before I could even get it inspected! Passed it now though! Beautiful kitties by the way!
Thank you so much, my parents gave me their old car when I turned 16 but only learned how to drive now at age 20 and the back windshield I can't even use its so blurred and warped from the southern California heat and I dont wanna get into trouble cause of my parents mistakes lol

It's not neccessarily the Windex, it's the ammonia IN the Windex. Straight ammonia works too, but it stinks.

Very true. I leaned this too. I bought a bottle of window cleaner at the dollar store (with ammonia) and it worked just as well.
I believe you can spray as you peel and it helps loosen the tint and glue as you go just pull a little then spray let sit for a second repeat process

Quana Van Buren that’s so weird I’m here reading comments to see who tried it ! I have a 2008 Honda Accord and this is on my back window and I needed to know if I can just use the blade and windex alone . I stay in apt can’t get a blow dryer outside!
Thanks for the video and as a cat person myself it was fun!

Chad
Thank you so much for easy and simple tutoring, God bless you
Sweet!! Just did your thing but with an actual heat gun. With the higher heat most of the glue came off with the tint. Glad I found your vid. I had people quoting me $200. 🤙🤙🤙
dakinehawaiian79 Thank you for taking the time to comment! I’m glad it was successful and it helped to save some money. That was my intent. I’m sure the heat gun was much more productive.

Going to remove my tint it’s too dark for me and state laws . Hopefully it comes off this easily cause I know they can rip when pulling off.
Best wishes for a quick tint removal! Thanks for commenting! Chad
We're a auto dealership and have removed a few window tints in the past, but this method is the best. Thanks for posting.
Im a few years late to comment but when you do plan on scrapping the window with a razor blade, be sure its a stainless steel blade or else you would end up scratching the glass. Nail polish remover works wonders as well.
Never too late to comment! Thank you for taking the time. I am still here and appreciate all the tips and comments from people like you. Chad
I spent 2 months driving around with windows down soo i can see at night😂😂😊 your a champion. Coming from sydney bloody Australia
Awesome Brad! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Cheers from across the ocean. Take care down under. Chad
Wow thanks dude very nicely done! Nice cat and good car I love crv..I have 09..
You are welcome! Thank you for taking the time to comment. We love our CRV‘s too! Chad

I am watching this because I got pulled over lol for my dark tint
David Palacios Bummer. Well I hope it helps! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Chad
@@theschoolpsych it helped so much actually !
David Palacios same court is this Thursday I need it off by then
This method look's to take a long... long... time to remove tint I guess if someone wants to spend extra...extra wasted time then use this method...the best way to remove window tint is get a steamer at Wall mart takes only five minutes or less per window guaranteed....
After the film is removed spray 409 on the windows and let sit for a few seconds, then use the razor. Comes off like butter with not alot of work.
Mick's Page Awesome, great tip. Thank yuh for posting! Chad
Good work but what is so ironic about windex cleaning the windows?
Wouldn’t rubbing alcohol take glue off easier
i mix that with water and make my own windex. Why is there an aisle full of cleaner when you need ISO or vinegar?
Baby shampoo and water. Razor blade scraper. Paper towels. Patience. When you pull old film off you should leave the bottom of it on top of the seal, as to not risk getting adhesive clumps and other contamination under the seal by having that old film to catch it instead. Change razor blades often and be careful applying too much heat, rubber seals and felt interior will melt/burn rather swiftly. This is still a stout tutorial though.
Nicholas Bone Thanks for the tips Nicholas! Those should be very helpful for others attempting this project. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Chad
what the heck , if you had kept on with the heat from the hair dryer you wouldnt have a glue issue,,its comes off with the tint,,
Yes sir you are correct my man spent 5 minutes on it.. If he had used the heat gun with it it would've come straight off with the tint
Nice! :)
I have a good way to do that too, I start the car, drive over to my brother and give him the keys, play with his kids while he does the work ;)
Seriously, you have some good tips here, I was just thinking the other day that its time to do something about our window tint, so TY for sharing :P
TY for the headsup, I´ll keep that in mind when its time to do my windows :)
could of did all 4 doors n 10 mins if u had a clothes steamer.. won't even need a razor
my favorite parts are the cats....i have shop cats myself
Tyler miller Yez the cats in my videos seem to be popular. Thanks for posting! Chad
If you would have used the hair dryer while pulling on the tint..it would have been a lot faster
Yes that would have made it much easier!
i heard wd40 is better than windex. I use wd40 to take off those stickers off your car
lol
A little bit of kerosene or vinegar can remove the glue in seconds!
Not sure putting a flammable liquid on my car is a good idea? But vinegar would be good. Thanks for posting. Chad
Chad
I've found that when you take your keys out of the ignition, that beeping starts real quickly.
lol
Thank you for the kind words and taking the time to comment! I hope your project goes well! Chad
Thanks for the video. Another reason why it’s stupid to put on tint. Annoyingly hard work to remove it when it gets blurry.
Gold Wolf You are welcome. Couldn’t agree more. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! Chad
That is great to hear! Thank you so much for commenting! Chad
Nice cats. Seeing as this was made 8 years ago… are they still around?
They unfortunately are not 😞
This is a 2004 ve-HICLE…lol thanks Flanders , good video 👍🏼💀😂
Thank you so much, my parents gave me their old car when I turned 16 but only learned how to drive now at age 20 and the back windshield I can't even use its so blurred and warped from the southern California heat and I dont wanna get into trouble cause of my parents mistakes lol
Haha. That’s great! Congratulations on learning to drive! That’s a bigger deal than people realize. Now get out there and be safe. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Chad
