      I bought some expensive ($12 for 8 ounce spray bottle) window tint remover. I used it on the front two windows, was not impressed by the effort it took with the scraper, about 30 minutes per window. I'll try this on the rear window for sure.

    This is a true professional at work here, major respect on that super clean peel, a legit sign of refined technique for sure, I understand the condition is a factor but that technique was flawless, steady, even and very mindful of peel speed. It's refreshing to still see a man take pride in his work. +1 respect and a new sub.

  • @lilyeturnal3720

    This video may be 5 years old but the method still works. I wasn’t nearly as meticulous and it still worked. I did leave the trash bag with the 409 for nearly 2 hours. I also didn’t have the tool to smooth it over, I just used my hands. When I took the trash bag off, the tint film didn’t go with it. I just cut a little slit and the tint came right off. I was left with a thin layer of adhesive on the window. Sprayed it with more 409 and it came right off. Then I used windex to shine it up.

    I just finished using this method to remove the tints on my car. Unfortunately all the adhesive on my rear window stayed on upon removing the film, but a bit of elbow grease and patience did the trick. Now all my windows look clean and i'm going to hold off on having them re-tinted. Thanks for the instructions!

    Hey this really works,just finished it about an hour ago . This tint was put on when I bought the car new back in 05' ,so like 12 years old and it started looking ratty a few years ago .
    Anyway long story short ,do exactly what this video shows you ,I'll just add one thing . When you try to peel it off you'll have to actually get a corner started with a razor blade ,just enough to get it started peeling and then it comes off just as easily as shown in the video.

    @ShiftyKen08 6 ปีที่แล้ว +35

    Yeah, this method didn't work for me exactly as planned. I followed all the steps but maybe because the glass cleaner I had didn't contain enough ammonia or it didn't work simply because it's me. The first application did exactly nothing. So I pulled down the trash bag and reapplied the glass cleaner. Since the direct midday sunlight obviously didn't have enough stank on it, I started the car and ran the heater full blast for at least half an hour. What did that produce? A bubble approximately 3x6 inches at the very top of the glass. Luckily it was enough. I just grabbed that piece and started pulling down firmly but gently. It all came off rather uneventfully from there in one rather thick piece. Cleaned up the little areas of left over glue with some goof-off and viola, all done! Thanks for the help, I'd have been paying some shop a lot of money to do that. Well worth it!

    After having three shops tell me I’d lose my defrost if they removed the old scraped up tint that was on my car when I bought it. It snows and freezes often here, so that’s not a safe option, so I decided to give this a try. In less than a half hour it was cleanly off, glue and all. Thank you.

  • @gotskinn
    @gotskinn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This just totally worked! The black trash bag had to be done in layers (big window) the bag didnt do anything but attack heat.
    It started peeling in 12mins w heater on high on an 85 farenheit day.
    I think the heat and the ammonia is the key. My husband gave up after following exact method...but his tint was 30yrs old.
    If it doesnt work...keep it warm & ammoniad until it peels.
    Absolutely no glue on my window. Awesome!

    It's not the method that mad it come off clean it's the type of adhesive used on the tint. I've been tinting 30 years I've used this method hundreds of times. Depending on the tint it comes off or the glue is left behind. Actually that tint would have come off without any adhesive just by warming it in the sun the only time to use the bag method is on really really old purple tint and then you still need to scrub off the glue with a fine steel wool

    • @markporter2642
      @markporter2642 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The method he is using is STEAM. Trapping the degreaser between the trash bag and tint creates steam when it gets hot in the sun. This is better than using a steamer because it applies the steam over the entire window evenly at the same time. It's much easier.

    This is great but how are you suppose to use this method in cold climates

    Why are shops charging $100+ for this when the materials needed add up to $5-$10 at the most? Just got tints that are way too dark & I want them off ASAP! Will definitely be using this method. 👌🏾

      Its not exactly the cost of materials its the time spent on it. Some shops are small and don’t have the room for cars to take up space. Most shops make more money installing fresh tint on vehicles so its a time management issue and trying to maximize profits as a business.

    since I do not have 409 will something like dish soap and warm water in a spray bottle work? or something like windex?

    I tried this method on 23 year old tint using Windex on my front side windows.
    My experience. Tint came off clean. First window I did faced the sun in bbn 91° and came off clean. Then I proceeded to the other side and tried to see if I can peel the tint off without the process and not facing the sun. Started out fine for a little bit but then I saw specs of residue adhesive stuck on window, so I stopped and did the process and turned the car around. Would it of worked without the bag and Windex if it was facing the sun? Don't know and I didn't want to sit for 20 minutes to find out and then wait another 20 minutes to do the process, so I just did the process. And the side also came off clean. I had a few minor specs adhesive in some tight spaces and the Windex cleaned it up with ease.
    Here are some tips. I didn't cut the garbage bag to the shape of the window. My spit opened bag was about the size of my window and it was thin smooth and not the thick kind. Being thin I was able to shape the bag tuck it into crevices.
    A slight breeze can make the bag flop around so if you can do it in your garage and then roll it out or have someone to help you apply the bag helps. Also the Windex evaporates quickly on a hot window and you will have to spray several times before you finished getting the bag on.
    I rolled down my window a little so I can fold the top part the bag over the window and then closed it to hold it into place and then started to spray across the top and working my way down and flattening and pressing the bag to the outer edges with an old credit card with just enough pressure to have the bag lay pretty much against the glass but not enough to squeegee the Windex out. Doesn't have to be perfect. Then waited 20 minutes and used a razor to get under the top lip of the tint to start peeling.
    Experience may vary I guess depending on what quality and thickness your old tint was which might make a difference.

    How to remove OLD window tint. 1. Make sure it’s hot sunny day. 2: Get inside the vehicle. 3. Spray glass with ammonia. 4. Cover wet glass with a black flat trash bag. 5. Let it sit in the sun. 6. One hour later, peel off tint. Yes, I have done it successfully.

    I'm going to try this. I got a vehicle from someone and they've used the rear defogger and the tine is bubbled and pealing and it's been driving me nuts! I can't hardly see out the back glass so I'm going to give this a shot. Just out of curiosity, isn't it a bad idea to use steel wool on the rear defogger? I just thought it might damage it. I mean I know you shouldn't scrubbed hard on it but I don't know how fragile or durable those traces are. Just for the record, I like the music.
