  • In the Fall of 2021 I went on a solo Backpacking trip into the Wild Sierra. I made camp, had dinner and late at night herd a series of strange and frightening sounds that made me feel threatened...I never told anyone what happened. Until Now!!

Somewhere else in the valley another solo camper was terrified hearing Chris howling 😂

Chris, have a similar story. Was up At Eleanor Lake behind Naramata BC, right at the very top of the mountain, it’s a very remote and beautiful place; we actually had to clear fallen trees off the road to get up there.
About 2:am something started walking around and around our tent, for about 2 hours; it smelled horrible, made a huffing grunting sound and rubbed against the tent. We were terrified as we thought it was a bear. As soon as it was light enough, and the smell and sounds could not be detected anymore, we literally rolled our tent and camp into a ball and fled the mountain. We had no food in the tent, it was in the trunk, but I’m now wondering, with the pushed over trees upon the road and the length of time it rubbed up against our tent, that it was maybe something else telling us to get the heck out of their territory. Well it worked; we did , and we never went back.

I will just say this is classic Bigfoot behavior, even though it may have been something else. Sometimes this behavior will go on all night.

One of your Best Stories yet.
    Water & Woods attract everything.
Climbing out of my tree stand at night, Oct bow hunting, I came face to face w several pairs of Red Eyes at eye level w me. I was far out in a swamp and All of ‘’us’’ were Startled. They silently disappeared and I was left alone w my heart beating quickly. Back at camp the others told me I was Not supposed to stay out there after dark. They insisted but wouldn’t say why!

I love the stories you tell, Chris. I backpacker and camped around the world for 63 years and never experienced any " bump in the night" stories. Kind of boring. 😴 During my hikes indaylight I encountered black bear without incident. The only scare I had was while taking care of personal business under a pine tree I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...felt like I was being watched. As I slowly turned I spotted a mountain lion in a crouched position staring at me. I stood up, raised my arms and started yelling. My friends heard me and ran down the trail towards me. The cat turned and ran down the other side of the rock ledge

I've had several black bear encounters and wolf but encountering a mountain lion, that makes my skin crawl and would scare the bejeebers out of me!!!

@@Badmoose64really??? More than the wolf and the bear?? 🫣

    • @Badmoose64
      @Badmoose64 ปีที่แล้ว +9

, definitely. Most wolves and bear are going to run upon hearing you or seeing you, I have had a bear come through my camp but it never showed signs of aggression or irritation and quickly wandered off, I 've also had wolves come into camp, steal some fish and wander away but for me, a mountain lion has that unpredictability factor that has me hoping I never come face to face with one.

I spent much of my younger years camping. What I’ve learned is you are never alone, no matter how deep you go into the wilderness. Nowadays, I only camp in crowded campgrounds. There’s some strange noises for sure.

Hell, l would never consider going out by myself. Not just for safety reasons either; eg if you get hurt, lost, whatever. Fill in the gaps...wild animals - bigger than you....Or plain scary, hair on the back of your neck stuff.😮

    • @pamelaflores4129

That was hilarious, "Nowadays, I only camp in crowded campgrounds. There’s some strange noises for sure." I had to laugh because my husband and I got busy in our tent one time at the sequoias. When I tried to say hello to a lady and her daughters the next morning-I found out that their tent was pretty close to ours. All I got in response was a nasty glare from the mom. Sex ed came too early......oops! My bad.

I never use to be afraid of anything until I went and lived on a mountain in a cabin in NC. I will never stay on a mountain ever again. I lived there over 3 years. I heard growling like that one night when I had a fire in my fire pit I made in my driveway. My cat was out there with me and he heard it too. We both ran for the cabin and never had a night fire again. I put a new fire pit on my porch. I moved away after my cats were disappearing. I been gone 1year July 5th this year. No more mountain living for me. Be safe out there.❤️😊

Love your stories. No one can know if that is a sasquatch or not but, even if it was a bear, that's freaking scary. You stay safe out there! One of my neighbors heard a weird one note tooting outside in the dark behind her house. She freaked out, thought it was a mountain lion or a sasquatch. She posted it to social media. It turned out to be an owl. But I do live in sasquatch territory and one has been reported within a few miles of my house so it is a legit fear.
Remember, though, if you howl into the void, the void might very well howl back...

I really liked your idea of blowing your whistle or even having it.. I'm going to get one those..

-> Or even possibly a Dogman; they don't like siren sounds or shrill, loud whistles, from what accounts I've heard.. But, most likely, a Bigfoot, judging by everything.. First Nations & Native Americans do not advise whistling in the woods at night, But, in this case, it was an Extremely High decibel whistle, & that was enough to deter whatever creature came near!! Probably wondered what else Chris had with him for deterrence!! ☺️ Divine Angelic Safeguarding, & Many Blessings, ALL!! 😻🙇🏻‍♀️🙏🏼🕊️👼🏻❄️🏔️🌄

Looks beautiful where you are. I love the outdoors and trees. We'd have to drive about two hours or more north to see forests. Wow, whistle is very loud! I bought it for my granddaughter, after you mentioned it in a previous video, who is in San Francisco, which is just as dangerous now as being in a forest with wild animals. Scary tale, Chris.

As an SF resident who also drives about 2 hrs north for adventures I have to say SF is scarier. Esp at night lol.

Great video and love your scenery footage taken of God’s creation. Often wondered if you ever had any of your own Sasquatch experiences because you seem fearless out in the woods. Where did you get that whistle? That would be a good thing to have.

I bought it off Amazon. There was a short video from the guy who invented this whistle on Amazon. I don't remember which video of Chris' it was where he talked about the whistle the first time.

Ps, Chris spring has arrived down here on the Arizona, Mexico border, and after a long wet winter the wildlife is in full bloom, lol, 22 wild pigs in my yard last night, and the Forest service has seen a spotted Panther here in southern Arizona for the last 7 years, he has come up all the way from south America and has made Arizona his home, so with the black Bear, mountain lion, and all the rest of the wild life that's out there we must be very careful so stay safe my friend... 👍💯

I live in the woods in upstate New York. A couple of times I've heard this weird sound, and finally witnessed what it is. Did you know that deer make a loud sound if they are upset and want to scare something away? This deer was out in the meadow stomping her foot and making a loud noise, I thought she was possibly telling a bear to stay away. I heard this again 2 nights in a row midnight just outside the window!

I have heard the white tails do that in western PA. My eyesight is not good, and I walked past a doe less than 6 feet from me. She did that snort and ground paw before loping off.
