Chris, I am an eight year combat veteran of the Royal British Marines and a twelve year wounded combat veteran of Norway’s MarineJaegerkommandoen MJK. I am 68 years old now and the past two year saw me get Covid, a right hip replacement due to arthritis brought on by having been wounded by a sniper in Kosovo/Pristina in 1992. I also have four heart stents and a broken neck from a car accident where I was t-boned by a driver who ran a red light at 70 miles an hour. I love your hikes, camping and your stories. I was raised on a farm and spent a great deal of time of course in the deep wilderness and mountain forests of Europe on military missions. Your channel brings the outdoors back to me while I am recovering. But it does make me miss being “out there”. Thanks for an excellent channel. I also don’t mind your product endorsement because I know it helps fund your endeavors. Looking forward to more camps, hikes, and stories. I have wild country stories of my own if you ver wish to hear. Thanks again.

I lived alone on dead end near woods. One night I hear like a tapping at my window which is 7-8ft off ground. Checked my security cameras and nothing. No raccoons, or squirrels, or birds. Creepy

I'm not going to go into a lot of detail here, but 7 years ago, me and my son got lost while hiking in Desolation. It was starting to get dark so I told my son that we needed to start looking for a suitable spot to bed down for the night that would keep us out of the wind. We kept hiking while we still had daylight, looking for anything that would help us out, like footprints, people off in the distance, anything at all. We hadn't seen another person all day and we were coming to realize the fact that we would be out there all night. We didn't have any cell service so we couldn't call anyone but we had plenty of water and food left so we just figured we'd build a fire and spend the night and try to find our way out the next morning.
We had been walking for at least half an hour when we stopped to look around in a 360 degree fashion to hopefully see something that would get us back on the trail towards where we had parked. At this point, we knew we were going to need to start looking for wood and a nice sized boulder to hunker down behind for the night when the loudest, most ground shaking, guttural scream either of us had ever heard(we could feel it deep down in our bones) went on for some 20+ seconds straight. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and as I'm trying to figure out both what the hell that that was and where did it come from, my son looks at me and says, "Dad, I think that that was a Bigfoot" without any trace of humor in his voice.
Long story short, it scared the hell out of both of us and I told my son that we cannot panic, we have to stay calm and as I was saying this, some 20 yards to my left, I spotted a cairn and told my son that I think that that is the trail we need. We took off running towards it and thank god, it was the trail we'd been looking for. When we made it back to the car it was pitch black, we shoved our gear in the back, and hopped in and immediately locked the doors. We nervously laughed about locking the doors as we were driving home, but I will never forget that crazy, guttural, out of this world scream.

My family has property there in Markleyville. My great aunt would tell me stories of how and why they had two gardens when she was little. One was for the family and the other was for the forest family. My great grandfather grew up there as well. The “forest family” was just an everyday thing to them. They respected each other’s privacy and sometimes every once in a while exchange gifts.

Hey Chris this story kinda scared me brought back a memory that I had 51 years ago..but I wasn't camping ..I saw a white bigfoot I was with my dad and little brother I saw this thing come up out of the creek and into the corn field it stopped for a minute or so looked right at us and then continues to walk across the field and into the woods..I was only 13 at the time it was less than a quarter of a mile away from our house and we would hear strange noises close to the house and the dogs would bark for a good bit and then all quiet we lived around 20 miles from the closest town out in the country with some pretty big hills and hollers in Jackson county in southern Indiana.. something I will never forget..

As the sherpas say “yeti”. It is a larger Bigfoot species, typically white furred with blue or pale white skin. Usually found in mountains, they are typically more aggressive, yet there are less sighting. A similar species, yowie is native to Australia and New Zealand with red fur, and aborigines typically say they are the most aggressive Bigfoot species and love the taste of flesh. They are taller and skinnier than Sasquatch

Long ago I was backpacking in the Sierra's up around Paradise Lake and Devil's Oven past the old Peter Grubb hut near the Pacific Crest Trail. In a grassy meadow I came across a dead female deer that had been sliced in half at the belly. No blood, no rips, no guts or other damage, just a big deer, cut almost surgically in half. I turned around then and there and made for home. I had to spend another night out on the trail and was so scared I don't go backpacking alone anymore.

I was camping near Hill City, South Dakota because I wanted to be near the Alpine Inn so I could order their German potato salad, (it's that good) and I was camping with my girlfriend and we were sitting next to the fire and it was near midnight. Most everyone in the camp had turned in, and a timberwolf just casually jogged through our campsite less than six feet away from me. He was easily taller than I was seated. Us two just held our breath as the wolf never stopped. Thank god. #Timberwolf 🐺🔥

This my 3rd trip back there since, have my dog, whom like me don't go outside the camper after 9.30 pm, except for quick WC trips, very quick. The area is beautiful and quiet, and your stories keep me on edge. This is his habitat, but he was not here prior to 4 months ago, as we have camped here for over 20 years. So I don't know where he came from, but their are incidents now, not only with me and my dog, but with other people, which is why hardly anyone comes here now. I remember my first backpack trip to zaleski state forest in Ohio, was the only living soul out there in November 2019, heard this huge coyote howl right before I was going to crawl in to my tent, had a nice fire going, it sounded like a huge coyote, if I didn't know better, there are no wolves In Ohio supposedly, but I'd sworn it sounded like a wolf, I loved it, remember saying out loud to myself, now this is truly life.
Anyways later that night I woke up hearing crispy crunchy sounds, sat up in my tent, something kept circling my camp, think it was that big coyote, least I think it was, but I went back to sleep lol.

Another great story and really nice Base Camp.

I can't begin to imagine how frightened the camper was when hearing something so close to his tent. It was smart of him to leave it and go out into the granite field, putting distance between himself and the forest. Thank God he was armed....It may have saved his life. Thankfully firing shots to the side scared the creature away, without him having to actually shoot it. Had he shot it and only wounded it, his outcome may have been tragic. I don't blame him for not being able to sleep for three months following his encounter! That was a nightmare in and of itself! 😳😯😱

I go on yearly solo trips to Desolation Wilderness. Two summers ago I parked at Wrights Lake Campground and was planning on hiking to Twin Lakes to stay for s few days. It is very steep (especially with a 40lb pack) and took few hours to get to those rock cairns you were mentioning. Once you get to that part you’re pretty close to Twin Lakes. Nothing creepy happened to me, but I’m glad it was some unknown creature instead of some crazy person. For some reason I’m more scared of people stories rather than unknown/supernatural stuff.
I highly recommend the Wrights Lake to Twin Lake hike. Beautiful place! Can’t wait to go back this summer!

I stopped being curious about certain things because I started attracting them. I hope it doesn't work the same for bigfoot stories, or you are in trouble. I agree with someone who commented about how you tell your stories from camp and how it makes the story so much better. I also don't mind the product placement because you have useful items and I am one of those people who likes a good gadget to pamper me wherever I am. The wood stove looks good to me, also the portable saw. You are very skilled with the details in the stories too, not too much or too little.

For a while there, I was thinking it was trying to get him to use up all his bullets and then attack. Anyway, pretty scary story. Glad to see you got the fireproof mat for under the woodstove. Have hiked and backpacked in the Desolation, as we lived right there in South Lake Tahoe. Camped at Azure Lake and Lake Aloha, probably more places.. Such rugged Sierra country! Wildly beautiful. So so thankful we didnt have any incidents...later a New Jersey relative said "Isnt that Bigfoot country?"

I went on a backpacking summer school trip before entering 9th grade in 1975 to Desolation Wilderness from Aptos High. I always slept by the teachers in the center of the group for protection but the hikes were light and we didn't see anything scary for 2 weeks. The worst was swimming the lakes and realizing they were a lot bigger, colder and deeper than one was prepared for.

The Desolation Wilderness is directly west of Lake Tahoe. I have done day hikes in that wilderness.
I have camped in that area not far from Wrights lake. Last year me and my family camped at Union Valley Reservoir which is west of Wright's Lake. It was about 11:30 at night, the small Campground and area was quiet. The campground is next to the lake. Nobody was out and the forest was quiet. Me and the wife are sitting by the campfire and we heard a lot of loud splashing coming from the lake for about 20 - 30 mins. No human voices or anything. It was weird. There have been many sightings in the area along HWY 50. Love your videos

hi chris, i'm really not trying to sound like a "know it all" but when using a saw try to use the whole blade rather than just 2 or 3 inches of the center, you will get way better longevity from this blade, plus less strokes = easier on your arm...what do you think, am i full of bologna. when i was a young boy, an old timer caught me short stroking my saw, and schooled me on the spot about using the entire length of the blade.....just a hint! let me know what you think.

Hi Chris, tell Jeanette I said hello. I like the way you narrate the story with your facial expressions body movement and speech patterns. A lot of Bigfoot sites just relate the story and you don't see them so I lay my phone or tablet down and listen to them but your version I like to watch you and like how you start out setting the story up before starting it. Once ages ago when I was a young about 30 I'm walking late at night out on a country road by myself something started following me two or three blocks away so actually I got a little apprehensive and started walking faster and it started walking faster so I started jogging and it started jogging and my adrenaline kicked in and I was running at top speed I swear at 4 ft leaps so this went on for half a dozen blocks and then I didn't hear anything anymore and I'm sure glad whatever it was didn't catch up to me! I didn't hear any sounds but the feet of whatever it was and no bad smell so it might not have been a Sasquatch but whatever it was I'm sure wasn't human! Well that's why little story. I heard of one in my general vicinity that was seen at East Canton Ohio back in the early sixties. Didn't think much of the newspaper report at the time but as the years rolled by I understood. Well happy hiking there Chris and catch you back in the woods somewhere, bye now.

CHRIS READ THIS !!!! I went up ALONE to Wrights lake when I lived in Tahoe out near the airport , I know all that area well and Msrkleville with the Carson river and about every crevice , Back to Wrights lake where go in from Kyburz or Icehouse way , I saw one after fishing leaving Wrights lake one Aug night late , The backpacking trip my friend was to meet me in two days up at Grouse lk or Twin Lakes , You leave in the back of Wrights lake up to a long flat area with beautiful pools to swim in , Enchanted pools I believe is their name, I had went in with some moon light and got to Grouse lk , Camped near the brook that entered it , I had around three a.m. rock clacking in two intervals ! I don’t think it woke me so ? I waited till dawn freaked out a bit , Our cabin in Wawona south of Yosemite valley where the Merced river comes out of Gods country I grew up there often as a second home , I had found tracks that just stopped like it disappeared? Other tracks and weird screams , So I knew about Bigfoot , The second night above Wrights lake I didn’t sleep well , And around the same time heard heavy footfalls and I knew it wasn’t a bear or any indigenous wildlife or a lost range cow , No cows up that high ever , It was bipedal heavy footfalls , Sitting in the small pup tent with no weapon but bear spray felt unnerved a bit and I wanted dawn asap , I decided to go camp at Wrights lake to wait for my friend as I was dropped off on this trip not wanting to leave my rag top Jeep there alone , On the way down that afternoon I felt followed ! When I came to a creek in a ravine with a manzanita cluster of brush I dropped my pack to cool off and treat some water and fill up , As I was on my knees behind that brush I saw movement and stayed still and looked through the brush to see what had me petrified ! A huge black Bigfoot that had I assumed just drank and had turned and was going into the thick forest ! I stayed still for ten minutes and heard some limps pop here and there going away , I got on the trail and went down in full alert to the bottom of the mountain and Wrights lake , My friend doesn’t believe in these creature so I was at odds to tell him but did after we got or I a big fire with a deep coal base for the night, His dog was there too, We had a few beers the best I ever had !! Sierra Nevadas never tasted so good and in ice water chilled ! He was in the fence with my encounters knowing I don’t lie , Later two or actually three more incidents in that area , There’s Dark lake and a lil one called Beauty real close to Wrights , Another time ! My opinion on this area is it’s a small basin that after the star light fades out it’s so dark it’s unbelievable! It’s again a small basin there ! So dark as dark gets , My dad and judge Creede and his sons and my brother backpacked since kids , Pretty well versed , Many trips , Wrights lake region has I can’t say how many but more than one would think of these creatures and the darkness is one reason and they come in on campers , It was better during the mid eighties , A dirt road in pass two creeks from Kyburz a mile plus east off hwy 50 , And Ice House and Union valley plus lion lake the other entrance to going in , I don’t like to backpack alone anymore there for sure , The one I saw as I’am hood on judging size was near 81/2 to 9 feet tall ! I am sure . Black like oil with a sheen to it , A few leaves on it or Forest stuff , This area my other experiences were pretty crazy too ! I saw your post and had to write ! Markeville too is a different area up to Fourth of July lake in the winter ! Later Chris ! Kevin Standow.
