  • Meet the team behind the Australian Grand Prix™.
    Each year Albert Park transforms from a public space, into one of the most iconic Formula 1® circuits on the calendar.
    When gates open on Thursday of event week, over 400-thousand people will pour into Albert Park as Melbourne becomes the epicentre of Formula 1® for one weekend per year.
    The journey to lights out never really stops at the Australian Grand Prix Corporation. Every piece of feedback from teams, customers, Formula 1®, staff and contractors is meticulously factored into planning for the following year.
    In total, approximately 400-thousand hours of collective work over a nine-week period is required to transform Albert Park into what the world sees during a Grand Prix weekend.
    This is your introduction into the team, behind the scenes. The team that listen to fan feedback and work year round to improve both the race, and fan experience at Albert Park each year.

    Went last year and thought maybe they didn't realise how busy it would be since DTS creating hype and a couple of years off the calender. While they have waymore toilets than last year it seems come Saturday and Sunday there will be no where near enough bars for patrons to buy drinks if they don't have a corporate package and barely any seating behind the stands for people to sit and eat etc.
    I hope overnight they sort these issues out.Maybe as it's day one it's not fully set up?
    The Australian open hospitality for a general admission ticket holder is much more value than what I saw last year and I really hope it's changed this year!
    In saying all that I was there today and will be there for the next 3. The location of this track is incredible. Pub,restaurants and bars all within 5 minutes from leaving the track in all directions.

    Hi AGP
    I've always wondered, how do you decide where the sponsorship signage is placed on track? I imagine the title sponsor gets the front straight and the Iconic Double Decker Bridge.

    • @ausgrandprix
      @ausgrandprix  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting question. So, we are the rights holder for Formula 1 in Australia, but the on-track signage is the property of F1 global. Essentially, F1 has global partners and typically on-track signage at multiple Grand Prix events (not just ours), will be a part of their sponsorship arrangement.

    Melbourne is widely acknowledged as the best F1 grand prix experience for fans in the world. Here in the UK, Silverstone is terrible for fans (although improving slightly in the last few years) despite being an excellent circuit, the logistics around paying through the nose just for a chance of getting a ticket and having to pay fees for every possible stage, then actually getting to the circuit after queueing for several hours in traffic jams, camping nowhere near the circuit but having to pay a fortune to do it and then having to pay to park there and pay to travel from there to the circuit.

    • @Platesmasher
      @Platesmasher ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been to both. Silverstone is better because the circuit lends itself to far better racing. I actually walked out of the second Aus GP I attended in Melb because I was so bored - it was the year Vettel (Ferrari) beat Hamilton (Merc). The first race in 2011 or 2012 in Melb wasn’t any better - no overtaking.

    If the race is locked in until 2037, the track needs more permanent infrastructure. Everything is outdated and ‘patched and covered up’ every year. Pit straight needs to be completely rebuilt including the garages and a permanent paddock setup. A new modern pit straight building with large windows overlooking the lake and city could be used all year round for wedding receptions and function hire 🤔

    • @ausgrandprix
      @ausgrandprix  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With the extension, work is in progress to upgrade the pit building for future races. The park is a trickier one, it’s a public facility all year round (except for race week), used by lots of different community groups so permanent infrastructure (as much as it would make our lives easier), is not always an option for us. It’s a constant challenge redesigning the venue each year and one we feel like is pretty unique in the events industry.
