Motivity is probably the best choice at the start but if you going into new game plus I’d would definitely recommend going for a quality build (motivity and technique) because how the scaling is you don’t need to go past 40 and you will be able to use every weapon without losing out on dmg and it also maximises the amount of damage you will achieve.
I believe that the ability to complete your fable arts attack without being interrupted was added to the game in a recent update. Really makes the heavy build much more fun
One of my favorite combinations for a motivity build that I’ve been using recently is the live puppet axe blade and the shovel handle. As far as I’ve found, sour spots don’t exist in the game, so having such a fast handle for a motivity build with the increased range and attack boost from the handle’s fable art makes it a very strong weapon combo. My preferred bread and butter though has to be the bone saw blade with the bramble curved sword handle. Great range, great damage, and has an insane engagement option with the heavy attack. Combined with the handle’s fable art it deals a lot of damage very quickly and maintains a high stagger buildup.
Damn I was using the curved dancers sword handle and the bone cutter saw blade and it’s got amazing. L1 perfect parry counter and super heavy fable attack. But its range is what makes it sick because heavy charged attack does two spinning heavy hits while getting air doing so. Pretty badass but the brambles fable is insane
Wrench handle obliterates everything with the fable art, if you are more focused towards blocking and perfect blocking rather than dodging. Use the conquering amulet and perfect blocking grindstone for easy opportunities to deal massive damage to bosses. Also, the wrench's handle its quite faster than puppets' axe. With five fable slots, extreme modification amulet gives you more damage to one-shot regular mobs, and let you use the handle's fable arte twice.
Felt like I was playing the game on hard mode by using advance. Staggering enemies took centuries until I decided to look for other builds and found this. Thanks
Nobody has mentioned it in any videos I can find, but an early replacement for the police baton is the exploding pickaxe handle. use it with the wrench or puppet axe and it absolutely shreds. Just use a motivity crank on the handle and it's off to the races.
Tbh my go to for the motivity build was the saw blade and default motivity handle. The handle skill of a guaranteed perfect parry is really good vs fury attacks and I like the moveset a lot more than the baton. The weapon art of the saw blade isnt as good as the wrench but still does great damage with hyperarmor while giving you massive range for how fast you can attack.
I'm amazed nobody has mentioned the Chef's Knife Handle yet. I just started my NG+ and it absolutely REKS through enemies. It's motivity / technic scaling at C atm, but I plan to go for A technic. The Fable art of the handle is one of the best, I've used so far. It's not motivity, but combined with a heavy blade, the dmg output is more than all of the ones presented here. I currently have 30 Motivity and 20 Technic and I deal around 6k with one attack chain. Also, the heavy attack of the handle, is, to me, the best of the game. Fully loaded, you deal 3 fast blows, staggering most of the standard enemies. You then can just spam further heavy attacks and the enemies literally can't do anything. Highly recommend to check this handle out. Top tier
Been using the Bone Cutting Saw Blade with the Chefs Knife handle for the entirety of my NG+ and it hasn’t failed me yet. Been shredding through every area with it, currently on Chapter 9 again and it still basically one shots enemies with the full charged heavy.
I’ve done 3 playthroughs. I found the baton handle/big wrench head to be the best combo also. It trivialised the mini bosses which can be annoying. It’s also super strong for bosses. The puppet string is so much better than the other arms, I feel like they’ll need to buff the others. Great video
I was actually rocking the Deux Ex Machina arm all the way through late game and it was insanely helpful on tough bosses like Green Swamp Monster, Laxasia, and Simon
Spot on with this motivity build. I'm on NG+2 and Puppet String is hands down the best legion arm for a strength build, followed by Deus Ex Machina for the sole reasons that both of them can stagger enemies to open them up for a fatal attack. I'm really surprised the Big Wrench Handle and Conquering Amulet combo wasn't mentioned. Doing a perfect block into a Payback Swing with a followed up Puppet Charge does MASSIVE stagger damage with the perfect block buff, I've been using the Live Puppet's Axe Blade for this since it has the highest block and base damage. Very good guide.
I’d recommend you give the falcon eyes a try on a motivity build. It’s what I did for my first playthrough with the bone saw blade and bramble curved sword hilt. The disengage option was very nice to have with the evasion shot, as it still allows you to deal damage while also setting up for a heavy attack when the enemy approaches you again. The stagger damage is also separate from its technique scaling, so it’s still an effective tool for putting pressure on heavier enemies.
Hope this is my first comment. Thank You for outlining your P-Organ setup! I find guides that have Motivity Builds, but not all give that aspect completely. Really helps me feel like I get a fuller picture. Again, thank you
Live puppet axe with dancers handle is honestly the best one I found all game. Update the handle with a motivity crank and you’re set. I steamrolled all of ng+ with that
I mean, i would say the "best" build in Lies of P is whatever moveset you are most comfortable with. I was surprised how much i enjoyed Motivity because i have always gravitated toward dex, no shield builds in Fromsoft games. Sometimes i found something that looked cool on my Mot build but dang, with the sawblade and the pipe wrench handle it was just far too slow. The exploding pickaxe ended up being my go to weapon and the moveset just really jived with me. I also used the deux ex machina Legion arm which provided nice steady stagger damage in boss fights and they rocked on Laxasia because she dives straight at you and instantly gets exploded😅 The Frozen Feast is great too but it had a high skill cap in learning its moveset, timings, and spacing.
On my motivity run I used the puppet head with the pipe handle and decimated every thing it was strong as hell. Get a perfect parry with the flame king amulet and then hit them with the fable art from the pipe handle you do 4.5k+ in a single hit that only takes 2 fable slots. I killed laxa second phase without her being able to move she just dived bombed I parried her took have her health and downed her in one attack then finished it.
Instead of the whole puppet axe weapon i swap the handle for the exploding pickaxe because its faster, you can get it to motivity A and the fable is a stamina preservation so i can get a couple extra hits and he able to dodge or whatever
live puppet handle + wrench head - sacrifice a little damage but you will usually be able to stagger bosses within 2-3 charged hits and makes attacks quicker
8:11 The fable slot dmg buff amulet is the best. This one is 2nd tier. Combine both on tech build and still outdmg any other str build that doesn’t use those both ammys.
I love the pipe wrench + baton handle. Damage is insane, though light combo range is kinda trash. I would also add another worthy mention... not sure if it's S-tier, but the Bone-Cutting Saw is also a superb match for the baton handle. It lacks the pipe wrench's megaultrapowerful fable art and it's own fable art is kinda meh... but it has a ton of range and does a bit more damage as well (usually enough to still be able to kill the enemies the pipe wrench barely does not kill). So this saw is the better option outside of bosses and mini-bosses since you won't really need that ultra powerful fable art outside of them. I suppose that live puppet head does more damage and does have a great fable art, but I think the bone-cutting saw has a bit more reach. Also nice to see you appreciating the puppet string. Honestly no idea why it's doing so badly on tier lists. I thought it was kinda poor for damage at first, but by endgame none of the others arms were really doing it for me. And trying out a fully upgraded puppet string arm with the golden pipe wrench + baton head combo instantly changed my mind. Damage was insane. Low cost and does twice as much damage as the already powerful fully charged hits. Also relatively easy to hit and also has a large enough hitbox to hit multiple enemies that are close by one another rather easily. Also scaling is sadly kinda trash in this game. Best to go for whatever you put the most points in... until you reach NG+ and basically start to level the remaining stats up to 30-50 as well. After it's best to go for a balanced type of scaling rather than making one peak. And even then the difference is minimal. Like 5 points at best. And Advance doesn't do anything for scaling outside of the elemental portion of weapons, but until motivity and technique are high enough, it does seem to offer like 5 extra bonus points if you go for a C/C/D motivity/technique/advance scaling for some reason (the extra points seem to be like a basic for having advance scaling activated, but raising advance doesn't actually raise the attack of the main weapon by even a single point... even if you put 99 into it. I tried with resetting the level. Advance is basically the stat that should be ignored until last, unless you're focusing on a full elemental build. Even if you're using partial elemental build you should completely ignore it).
Broooo you answered exactly what I've been wondering In ng+ and trying to figure out if B and B scaling or S rank on one is better. It really had me confused lol
@@vheataylorsyorkies7215 Yeah, just go for B/B. Single stat scaling is pretty garbage past the start in NG+ when you have the opposite of your main offensive stat at like 20 or more.
Excellent video! What do you think of replacing one amulet for the 'conquering amulet', with your weapon and a perfect block + the "Payback Swing" ability of the handle?
Live puppet axe + booster glaive handle is what carried me through ng. Also no mention of frozen feast? It does the highest damage in the game and has high stagger
Frozen Feast + Puppet String max carried me through both first run + NG. I've tried the puppet axe but it doesn't seem to do as much and puppet string seems to scale best with slower weapons since there is no penalty.
You can be interrupted while charging patient smash because I've been bodied multiple times while charging it, there are instances where you tank the hits but you can definitely be interrupted with certain attacks.
Good stuff. Although I would argue, especially with Motivity builds, swapping the skill point allocations for Motivity and Capacity would be better swapped. If you look at the way the damage stats scale, you're not really getting as big of a benefit as you do in other games for pushing the caps. Focusing on higher capacity allows for heavier armor slots and keeping under 60 for weight, and thus keeping your stamina more managable. I swear you'll still be killing just as fast. Also just for fun, in NG+ using the Nobless Oblige is the way to go. It's probably the best weapon in the game. The running R2 is wonderful, both Fable Arts are fantastic, and it collects extra Ergo for every kill.
I wish people would get their heads on straight about this game. I got some TH-camr saying how the game is perfectly balanced and how it's impossible to make a broken, God mode build but then the very next video will be "check out this broken, god mode build".
Every single weapon you listed will do more damage with 20 Technique & 20 Motivity, cranked to C/C. Dancers and the boss weapons are the only weapons that do more damage with one stat higher than the other (assuming you use cranks) and you still do more damage with them closer. The ONLY actual motivity weapon in the game is Noblesse Oblige, the only tech one is Two Dragons Sword. Everything else is better with close to an even split, and in cases where its better with one stat higher (like Dancers or Puppet Ripper) you can crank it either way, and you'd want to go 26/14 over 40 in one.
My problem with Motivity and the "big" weapons is the poise, or lack of poise, that makes getting your attacks interrupted a frequent occurrence if using a slow weapon, especially on charged attacks. You almost have to use the Shot Put on bosses during the stagger (white outline), so you don't lose your opportunity to do a fatal attack because your slow charged attack is very likely going to get interrupted. If you don't land an attack, then it doesn't matter how hard hitting the weapon is which is easily observed when using one of the fast poke weapons where the enemy is easily interrupted instead. What is "S Tier" also seems to vary greatly depending on whether it is a boss, elite, or normal enemy and what element, if any, the enemy is weak to. If you are applying an element like shock via an abrasive to a hard hitting motivity weapon when fighting a puppet and have the right P-Organ and amulet setup then yes, it does seem to melt enemies.
I can definitely see what you mean here and I agree with most of what you said 👍🏻 there’s just something so satisfying about using these specific weapons 😂
I thought the same until I got the timing down for the charged attacks, alternatively you can use certain fable charged attacks to quickly get a stagger for those glowing health bars
@@blakeeckert5810 You should elaborate. Are you using a particular head / handle combo? Booster Glaive is nice. Did you do P-Organ buffs focusing on charged attacks, etc.?
@@kasplat5874 yes all of those things sorry not tryna write a novel but you know you can use certain fable arts to stagger bosses and enemies when their health bars are glowing right
@@blakeeckert5810 Of course, but that's not really the issue. You can always throw a Shot Put for a quick guaranteed hit so you get a chance to do the fatal attack. In a boss fight, you are unlikely to get more than 3 and there are P-Organ upgrades for consumables if you want to hold more. I'm talking more about being in the midst of a charged attack during the normal back and forth and that gets interrupted or even a basic R1 or R2 can get interrupted.
Used motivity my first play through and used the bone cutting saw blade with the dancer blade handle. High damage and quick move set with a very solid fable art. However Technique is still far better. Enemies attacks always stagger the player because of no poise so getting charged attacks off can be challenging. Faster attacks and mobility is much better at the moment and you can still deal very high amounts of damage with technique
Honestly, I used bone cutting saw + bramble curve sword handle and god damn the charged R2 covers so much range and is fast asf. Couldn't gel with the dancer blade although it did like 30 more dmg. Beat ng+ with this build and finished both playthroughs totally under 40 hours. But yeah this shi made it super easy with the range+damage.
What do you think of the Saw Blade in this build? You didn't mention that but I am using that right now and I think that's great too because of its range and I also upgrade the pipe next to it
Big Pipe Wrench with Booster Glaive handle will carry you through most of the game. Just alter the handle with a Motivity Crank and upgrade the Aegis Legion Arm.
Charging Patient Smash is a waste, one hit per time for 5 fables can deal up to 9k dmg with coil handle and special grindstone, with hyper armor, basically stand and trade blow spam 1 round instakill mini boss, 2 round for big boss, my 1st play go to, but 2nd play i learn katana and found it kill faster, easier and much much low risk of getting hit.
The exploding pickaxe handle shouldn't be slept on. It has a pretty good and quick enough moveset for the heavier heads/blades. It became my ace weapon in the game when I got the Live Puppet Axe and put the blade on it.
Exploding axe handle with sawblade blade is really fucking good. The dash attack is very good considering it allows you to keep up stagger counts and pressure on bosses while also having good reach.
I more or less went through the majority of the game with this axe, but on faster bosses, i didn't really find it viable as your attacks kept getting interrupted. I do love the weapon though
Doesn't the Live Puppet's Axe deal far more damage than the Big Pipe Wrench? I have both at A Motivity, and maxed level, and it's clear that Live Puppet's Axe deals more damage. Is it the Patient Smash Fable Art that gives the Wrench more damage? Also, is it worth it to use 2 motivity cranks to boost the scaling even more?
@@ColdBwoyy You're right. When it comes to that one big hit, it's the wrench fable art with the police baton handle art. So now, I use the Noblesse Oblige as my main weapon, and the wrench/police baton as my backup weapon for bosses. Thanks for this guide. I beat the last boss in just two attempts (using Noblesse Oblige)!
How do you get rising dodge in phase 2? 🤔 my one for that space is retain guard regain upon pulse cell use, So confusing really hoping they find away to simplify p-organs for the 2nd game 😓
Motivity and Technique seems identical lategame isnt it? I mean you can mess with the scaling of the handle right? So technically you can do the same build with techinique stat instead of motivity granted you have enough techinique cranks right? So its more like whats your build at early game than anything. This is the part im kinda disapointed because both stats just gives dmg scaling. Its not like both stats offers something unique like atkspeed or poise dmg. Or am I missing something?
I’m sorry but you can’t be searching for builds on a game that’s a year old and get salty about boss spoilers. If you don’t want to be spoiled, stay off TH-cam and experience the game for yourself.

I would add the Bone Cutting sawblade on the dancers curved sword handle
I like the combo but it lacks side step attacks
The fable art from the wrench CAN be interrupted by an enemies grab. Happens to me every now and then.
Thanks for letting us know 💯
I find the axe to be way to big, and actually blocking most of the view of the enemy/boss. Will try the wrench though.
That is the one downside unfortunately
If you use the chef handle the axe is down by your side so it doesn’t block view
The charge fable for the pipe wrench can't get interrupted
@@Deeznutz864 none of the fable arts can be interrupted anymore
Honestly, I used bone cutting saw + bramble curve sword handle and god damn the charged R2 covers so much range and is fast asf. Couldn't gel with the dancer blade although it did like 30 more dmg. Beat ng+ with this build and finished both playthroughs totally under 40 hours. But yeah this shi made it super easy with the range+damage.
Really want to slap the Live Puppet Axe onto the explosive pickaxe. Just really enjoy that moveset
Can't wait for a Lords of the fallen build vid. 😮
I’m ver excited for that game! Thank you for supporting my videos 🙏🙏
I am just gonna say it, i have seen no one else doing this, live puppet blade and rock drill handle trust me
Hmmmm I’ll try it 👍🏻
just started this game is this build still good?
It's effective I'm on the 3rd playthrough with it.
Chop chop Lies Of P boy it's been 2 days when is the S tier technique build gonna drop
Soon 👀 patience young padawan
You can’t be interrupted using the big wrench fable arts anymore, at launch tho, you’d be getting interrupted left and right
This is true lol
Just finished my 3rd play through, tech build but using this certain legion arm makes game easy mode, has to get patched soon
Live puppet axe looks so unholy, I love it.
Live puppet blade and Police baton with upgrade handle motivity=💪
Oh yeah 🔥
Subscribed 🔥
Thank you so much 🙏🙏
can you show all your stats so I can see how you distributed them? because this is the build I would like to do, so cool this motivity one. Thank you
Vitality - 55
Vigor - 25
Capacity - 50
Motivity - 60
@@ColdBwoyy ok thanks, so I can ignore the other 2 development and technique
@@ColdBwoyy can you tell me how you set up all the statistics? even those that are not needed. Thanks
Same!
Love it ❤
I’ve tried it and it’s pretty nice! May have to play around with it more
Exploding axe handle with sawblade blade is really fucking good. The dash attack is very good considering it allows you to keep up stagger counts and pressure on bosses while also having good reach.
What do you think about an azure dragon glaive cranked to A motivity for a motivity build?
Definitely 👍 one of the best weapons in the game rn
What outfit are you wearing? I haven't found that yet?
The workshop Union workers outfit 👍🏻
Which best?
Boss weapon or assemble weapon. Not know to pick since i need to choose weapon or amulet from boss
It really just depends on your playstyle
What the best combination here? Live puppet axe + wrench handle or boost handle?
hhmm i think rising dodge was removed i don’t remember it being a choice now. i think its a guard regain thing now. ill have to double check
I more or less went through the majority of the game with this axe, but on faster bosses, i didn't really find it viable as your attacks kept getting interrupted. I do love the weapon though
Understandable. Seems to be the one downside to motivity builds.
I think the patient slash fable art is a lot stronger than the axes fable art. But the axe does have more range and base damage
🤔 my one for that space is retain guard regain upon pulse cell use,
So confusing really hoping they find away to simplify p-organs for the 2nd game 😓
Rising dodge is an automatic skill you unlock. They changed the organs shortly after this video.
@@ColdBwoyy oh ok, thanks for the reply 😊👍
Is it bad that I go over these levels since I'm in new game plus?
Nope! You’re just a higher level that’s all. Although I will say going passed 40 on any stat besides capacity seems to be a waste
What are the defense parts used in the build?
No way I'm sticking with my Tech with the trident. Plus the assassin emblem.
Sheeeesshhhh. Big damage
My strength weapon has always been the holy sword of the ark, big sword do damage
Using puppet string on STR build.. that's how you know the legion arms need some serious rebalancing
nice
Thanks 💪🏼
If they keep making games like these, there will be no crisis in gpu upgrades
what about fireaxe handle and big pipe wrench? more reach than the police baton handle and the damage is good
Trạs handle, bad moveset
I'm curious why you fly open with boss spoilers when most people watching this are either starting or in the middle of playing the game..
I’m sorry but you can’t be searching for builds on a game that’s a year old and get salty about boss spoilers. If you don’t want to be spoiled, stay off TH-cam and experience the game for yourself.
@@ColdBwoyy you're acting like I said the video is bad. I didn't. You also say it's release was a year ago, sure. but you made this 9 months ago lmao.. Good info for sure but its so simple to say spoiler warning or something.
Oh well, I traded for the weapon instead of the Arm of God Amulet. RIP. Is my only choice to get that accessory on NG+ now?
yep, sadly
just use oblige S tien motivity, ng +3 bosses lasts 2 min
Any for technique soon ?
Yes that will be my next video I’m currently working on it 👍🏻
sorry, how do I do that jump attack with baton handle again?
They missed a golden opportunity by not having character creator in a damn puppet game.
i cant find how much exactly a weapon damages by fablearts . i cant find the damage of fable arts anywhere in the weapon stats.
Also if i have a weapon of Technique A and Motivity D and i upgrade with crank to get tenchique S and motivity 0 ... is this bad? how does thish affect my weopon damage stats and overall ?
what happens if i upgrade until Technique D and Motivity A
(actual Technique A and Motivity D).
Can anyone explain?
Help! Which stat should i max first is it motovity?
If i trade ergo for an sword instead of amulet, can i trade this back? Is there any way to fix that? :(
how bout Coil Mjolnir guys?
❤
Bro try out the Hammer its broken
I refuse to use a wrench it looks so stupid.
Mjollonir isnt better?
technique pls
Coming soon 🙏 working on it rn
