This works well with Pixelated PC games like Sonic Mania, Shovel Knight, TMNT Shredders Revenge etc...
The scan line thickness of 9 makes sense because games around this time were displayed as 240p (320x240). 2160/240 = 9.
Nice. Does it look good for you?
This is a good basic tutorial to get the ball rolling for beginners new to Reshade like myself. Once I learn how to properly use it my first and main objective will be to get my presets on there. Good video as always.
Hey, i wanna put Re-Shade into Wreckfest but i dont know how, its just like it does not work when i start the game.
@santirighetti12 Wish I could help. Unfortunately I still haven't gotten around to using Reshade yet.
@@sonkunhyperspinretroarch4867 No problem my guy! I finnaly did it
@@santirighetti12probably using the wrong rendering api. Try every one to see if it works.
Wow great work. Reshade is amazing. Best way to play moderngames that look retro/8bit/16bit
That's exactly what I was looking for
I will for sure try to use this with current games on low resolution
Glad to hear it. I hope it helps
This has changed how I emulate a lot of things.
I've also opted to try using CRT Royale for Dead by Daylight and it gives the game a very weird Diablo 2 vibe.
Looks really good. A smidge dark for my tastes, but I had a really crappy CRT growing up that blew out the lighting on stuff lol
I definitely recommend tweaking the settings to something you like. Lots of opportunity for customisation
@@RetroCrisis Oh yeah my bad, I meant to thank you for the instructions. I'll def give it a shot!
@@Scerttle it's all good. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts. I always appreciate it
@@RetroCrisis After you chose the CRT filter and finished the setup, how did you get the ReShade menu to pop up in you're game?
@@jareddyer3142 you press the "home" button in your keyboard, nicompoop
Great video as usual! Seems like maximum reward for minimal effort using this method.
Any chance of getting Cyber shaders on reshade
@@Digitaldelboy Sure I have a few ReShade Presets just search for CyberLab Reshade Death To Pixels Preset Pack in my Preset Pack thread it's post 637.
Wow, it looks so smooth for Mania
Thank you! Didn't know this existed. I started to play the new double dragon game but without a CRT filter it looks horrible. Now it looks great
I agree. Shaders help pixel graphics so much
Thank you for this video! Been wanting to play the Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and old 2D games as close to what was originally intended (and native resolution for the best experience)! This was super nice!
Awesome dude, I literally was wanting to ask about this a few days ago
Thanks a bunch brother! it looks fantastic on my end!
Help! I was following this tutorial with Call of Duty United Offensive, but when i press the Home button, nothing happens. Some possible solution?
Wow that's beautiful. Thank you.
I'd probably try emulating a PAL crt tv.
Less colour bleed and more lines.
i'd recommend vhspro shader specifically only the option on the shader called color bleeding to simulate composite on retroarch
Thank you very much. I'm using it with my media player (classic) to watch old cartoons with CRT filters. It's amazing! It is fully replaced me ShaderGlass wich have annoying yellow boarders on Win10, that yhou can not hide.
But i still can't understand how install Sokun's CRT shaders in it. ReShade do not see them. Any help?
Retro "Shader" Crisis
Its a shame that for many older games where you would want CRT shaders that those games are running on directdraw and currently there is no option for that.
couldn't you use a ddraw wrapper like dgvoodoo for them? and then use reshade in dx11 mode (or whatever dgvoodoo uses)
I’m curious to try this with Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. A bit curious to see if it would even work since there’s a different pixel density between the field and battle screens. My assumption is that it would probably look messed up, or if maybe an LCD filter could make more sense. Looks great here.
i recommend in screen geometry to make it spherical (alt) and radius 1.80
Settings for 1080p Please :(
Thx author, for this method, really helpful.
The unfortunate aspect is that while CRT shaders are good nowadays, you need to use 4K resolution to make them look right, the effects are not able to properly be applied using inferior resolutions
1440p work great as well, but nothing lower than that. At least for CRT-royale and similar
This isn't quite true. 1440p and 1080p can also look pretty decent especially with Aperture Grille CRT masks.
@@CyberLabStudio I was thinking of CRT Royale specifically, which from all the shaders I've seen looks the best by far in my opinion but I'll take a look at those.
Not true, psx and saturn games look better on my 1080 monitor with scanline shades trinitron style than my 1440 and 4k oleds to my eyes
it depends on the shader, some are meant to be used at 1080p
Since it's looking for one of those APIs would this work for an older game that used direct x 6 through 8?
it's not workin on pizza tower😭😭😭😭
Its a bit lol you need 4k displays for proper crt filter to do what crt does with 480i :P.
Remind me of that invincible quote: "Look What They Need to Mimic a Fraction of Our Power"
@@rickard1802 🤣 absolutely!! But once you realise what goes on behind the scenes, you begin to realise even 4k isn't enough.
Great work! Thanks for the video! ✌
First of all, congratulations on your videos, I follow your channel a lot!!
Could you make a Shadders and Filters configuration video for Nintendo Switch Retroarch or some way to make the most of it
Can the same be done with PCSX2 and the Dolphin?
yes but does it blend dithering patterns?
Do you have any recommendations for dithering. Also is there a chance mega bezel death to pixels will be an option one day.
It looks great!
What home butten?
Hi! By any chance, do you know if there is a Reshade-compatible shader to simulate color LCD screens? Ideally GBA screens without backlight, but DS screens would work too. A shader of sorts it's the only thing I think Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection lacks and I don't find anything similar yet.
I was wondering this, too!
Thanks for the video, need this for getting Kotor running just like I remember. Also, Track ID?
Streets of Rage intro ❤
is there any tips for modern pixel art games like octopath traveler can look better with these crt shaders?
Are you up for a request? I looked around a lot this weekend for a good tutorial on using Clrmamepro to convert MAME sets, for example from merged to full non merged. There’s nothing great out there. Your videos are outstanding and I suspect you could put together a useful tutorial. I’m enjoying the channel, thanks!
Do these scanlines work well on the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games?
They should work with any good pixel game. But you'd probably have to adjust the configuration for each game.
@@RetroCrisis Alright thanks
how do i do this on a premade preset?
OH, man! Here, on my laptop (Ryzen 5 5200, chipset Sony Vega, 8Gb RAM) doesn't work!
I did click but nothing happens! 🥺🥺
Justly Now, when i did think have founded a way to play my favorite games on Pc like on CRT's TVs!
Try this th-cam.com/video/A5Dy3nj7dMc/w-d-xo.html
I'd love to try these on Ragnarok Online, if I still played it.
aw man i need a 4k monitor now
A good quality 4k display is definitely worth the investment especially if you're into shaders
Awesome vid m8 ❤
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does it works on the Steam Deck? Any PC games?
Honestly, I don't think Steam Deck has enough resolution to make good use of it
@@RetroCrisis well, I am watching this video on my cellphone that it is much more smaller than a Steam Deck and i am loving the CRT effect. It is beautiful! If it is possible to use it on the Steam Deck I would make good use of this shader in every retro game I play. Do you think there is a way to do it?
@@lich_king86 most cellphones have a higher resolution than the steam deck screen. The video is recorded at almost 3x the vertical resolution of the steam deck screen. You're welcome to give it a try though. I'd love to know about your experience.
@@RetroCrisis but do I have to install Windows on Steam Deck to use this, or is it possible to do it on Steam OS?
@@lich_king86 I'm not 100% sure about how to use it and steam deck. I've got my replacement steam deck arriving next week so I can do some testing
What is the Home Button?
On a pc keyboard there is usually a 'home' button . Sometimes next to 'page up' and 'page down' buttons
@@RetroCrisis Oh yeah I found it shortly after commenting, by the way sonic mania has crt look built into the game in settings
@@weaponizedknight7316 that's right it does. I think the shader is slightly better. But still very good
@@RetroCrisis I never knew it had the setting until today though
Streets of Rage Remake anyone know witch api i ues
I don't recall the exact reason for this, but I put a lot of time into testing Reshade with SoRR a year ago before reading that it couldn't be done. I never had any luck with it myself.
At any given moment in the video why is there no on-screen label for what the displayed shader is?
Did you watch the video? Because I reference it on numerous occasions
Can you use this in an app like retrobat?
update: it doesn't work.
It looks very good on still pictures, but in motion everything is blurry in a modern display. Nothing can come close to the motion clarity of a real CRT. Modern display technologies are just a failure.
Sorry to hear that. Which kind of display are you using?
@@RetroCrisis My main modern display is a Lg Oled C2.
Shaders are just a SCAM. Get read my Dude's! Play it on a real CRT. AKA #savethecrts
That's right, the shaders still look fake compared to a real CRT
3000 dollars vs shader free
@@BradPitBrasileiro You can find a CRT for less than 20 dollars or even for free, you got that price off your ass
OK guys, buy us a big apartment so we can put some money into it! Otherwise, stop with your demagoguery about what everyone already knows
How is a free and completely optional thing a “scam?”
