I am 67 years old. Call me a relic call me what you will. Say I'm old fashioned, say I'm over the hill. Today's music ain't got the same soul. Give me that old-time Rick and roll. Nothing being played in a club today comes within a mile of the sounds coming out of Detroit, Philadelphia, and Memphis back in the 60s.
I remember when this song first came out, WOW! I think it was released in 1979, I had already graduated from high school a couple of years earlier, and this song was making people dance that hardly ever danced in their lives. Bob Seger was and still is one of my all time favorite singers, the guy is GREAT!.
Bob Segar is the epitome of American Rock and Roll, and this song has every single element that makes it just that; the raspy, blue collared voice, easy to understand lyrics, great guitar work, a drum line that moves the soul, and the horns on top, just where they belong
The two guys that wrote this song did a handshake deal with bob seger for this song. They never had a written contract. To this day bob still sends them royalties for this song even though he legally doesn't have to. You gotta love bob seger. On a side note the double piano intro was a mistake. It was accidentally played twice and they liked it so they kept it in.
My brother used to have a "country" band. Played in "country" bars, but when they started into this song, the people went crazy. The dance floor would be packed out.
As a kid, this was my favorite song of all time and is still one of my favorites. I love everything Bob Seger has done. Absolutely love love love this song.
when we said back in the day... don't take me to a disco ... it wasn't about black or white , because alot of blacks like chuck berry , little richard , lloyd price , chubby checkers were black and they played rock and roll ... no disco really stunk , i can only name one or two disco songs i even liked , it just did not have the same soul/ today people have gone absolutely crazy making everything about black and white and keeping us continually fighting among ourself while the politicians rob us blind of our heritage and our country.. this generation needs to wake their arse up.
As a 69 year old baby boomer I completely identify with this song. The music in my younger days is better than popular music today. I am a over the hill relic dinosaur but that is okay. Give me that old time rock and roll.
In my senior year in college I had 3 hours of classes I needed to fill to qualify for my scholarship. A friend of mine convinced me to take Country and Western Dance because there were 9 girls and 5 guys in the class. This was the first song that we learned to country swing to, even though it isn't a country song.
Since this song was released it gets people on the dance floor, be it a bar, a wedding reception, or just a party, it is just a song that makes you want to move.
You hit the nail right on the head. Back in the 70's there was a real divide between those of us who were scared of girls and those who weren't. One half went to Disco's, my half pretended to be musically superior and looked down on all that Disco s**t. Well.... a couple of years later, 36 years married with two daughters, I'm still scared of girls but I must admit, some of that Disco s**t was pretty good.
My mother scared the daylights out of me once. She needed me to run up to the store to grab her something and told me to take her car since she had me blocked in. No problem. Started the car and the radio was blasting (and at that time you could easily see 3 concerts a month no problem) - i jumped out of my skin!! Turned it down real fast! Got back and asked what was the deal with the radio (grin on my face) her reply was - that song about rock and roll was on from that guy with the dark long hair. I said Bob seger old time rock she's like yeah that's it!!! May she rest in peace. Died 4 days after turning 52.
BJ you are spot on!! If you don't dance to this and make yourself just smile you are an old stiffy lmao. I was waiting for you two to get up outta your seats and shake it!!
Watch the movie Risky Business with a very young Tom Cruise. This song makes what has become an iconic appearance. Great reaction as always!! Happy Valentine's Day to you both!❤❤❤❤
Me a relic call me what you will(that includes if you wanna call me an old Stiffy). Say I’m old-fashioned say I’m over the hill. Today’s music ain’t got the same soul. I like that old time rock ‘n’ roll
Bob Seger live bullet album. I can't if I don't travel in man. And then I go a rotten to beautiful loser. You get a combo don't have to go to the drop store😅😅😅😅
Most likely you've had you've had a son's spot But if you didn't have one you might want u m a day a one All right? Bob sager does that song sun Bob Seger sings song spot baby song. Soundspot by Bob Seger.
I am older than you two, and I would for sure be on the floor for any music but I did really love love disco music and it made me dance more! LOL I wish I could still dance, my old body barely gets me through the grocery shopping trip. ☺ These days I dance in my chair.
Song reminded me of a Movie you might enjoy. Risky Business... Young Tom Cruise Iconic Dance Scene to Bob Seger song. Happy Valentines Just watched a fantastic true story.. Hidden Figures...I'm 68 and I did not know this. Everyone should see this movie. Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer
Great song, early Bod Seger is awesome to. Lucifer Live 1970 video is a young Seger barely able to grow facial hair. The tune really rocks. The drummer ihas a set of drums that I never saw before. Bob Seger also plays guitar in the video.
I used to see Bob Seger playing around bars on the Detroit area after The Bob Seger System broke up. Even saw him for free at a local mall opening. Then came The Silver Bullet Band. Boom!
BJ's got it! If you don't move to this, you an old stiffie! I'll check your reaction history to see, if you haven't already react to Bullet Bob's "Her Strut"! You can't not move to that either! 🤣🎸🎼✌️
Bob Seger provided a lot of great music. This is from Tom Cruise's movie "RISKY BUSINESS". HE also had "Ai'nt Got No Money" :FIRE DOWN BELOW" Night Moves" and LIke A ROck
Definitely a great song and always a crowd pleaser when i do at karaoke (but got have a few drinks in me as I gotta put a little extra gravel in my throat to pull this one off)!
It's true about the competition - usually disco did not mix with rock. If you were a guy, you had to take a stand. Us girls could listen to whatever we wanted! It was GREAT!
Love Bob Seger! You can hear he was influenced by Little Richard in a few of his songs, this being one of them. Listen to Tutti Fruti and you'll see what I mean
Bob Seger and Alto Reed (The Sax player) were the only members of the Silver Bullet Band on this song. Seger used the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and other studio musicians on a lot of his studio recordings. Bob's ballads are great, but his rockers are way better IMO. George Jackson, who wrote this song, was one of the back-up singers on this.
It’s been said that Bob Seger has the perfect Rock & Roll voice.
because it is the truth!!
He had a great sound and band! I loved the horn player
I am 67 years old. Call me a relic call me what you will. Say I'm old fashioned, say I'm over the hill. Today's music ain't got the same soul. Give me that old-time Rick and roll.

Asia & BJ, you'll love his "Rock And Roll Never Forgets" and "Katmandu"!!!! BANGERS!!
Rock And Roll Never Forgets soooooooo goood
Definitely great songs!!
@@sandierichardson2153 thank you!!
Great song!! “Katmandu”, “Feel Like a Number”, “Shinin Brightly” and “Rock and Roll Never Forgets” are more great Seger hits
Feel like a number under rated definitely.
I remember when this song first came out, WOW! The best thing about old time rock and roll is it resonates to this day.
And don't forget the saxophone!
Bob Segar is the epitome of American Rock and Roll, and this song has every single element that makes it just that; the raspy, blue collared voice, easy to understand lyrics, great guitar work, a drum line that moves the soul, and the horns on top, just where they belong
I saw his very last show in Philly and he was great! 74 years old and he was still awesome. So much energy and had a blast on stage.
Greatest concert ever attended was bob seger
6 of them for me over 40 years
I was on the 2nd row when I saw him!
Great seeing BJ dancing!
How have you not watched this yet!? 😂 All of his songs are awesome!!
FINALLY!!!! I've been waitin' FOREVER for y'all to get to this, my fav of his!!
I'm so glad y'all liked it!! ❤️
One of my all time favorites. 💥
My brother used to have a "country" band. Played in "country" bars, but when they started into this song, the people went crazy. The dance floor would be packed out.
Classic rock and (2000’s and earlier) country have a very similar audience
Once you go Segar, it's hard to go back
As a kid, this was my favorite song of all time and is still one of my favorites. I love everything Bob Seger has done. Absolutely love love love this song.
Betty Lou, Traveling Man, so many great songs.
I would love to just chill and hang with you two hahah. Your commentary is gold.

Asia and BJ should react to the Bob Seger song "Katmandu", such a cool rockin' song with more great lyrics.
OH HAIL YES!!
In my senior year in college I had 3 hours of classes I needed to fill to qualify for my scholarship. A friend of mine convinced me to take Country and Western Dance because there were 9 girls and 5 guys in the class. I get a kick where it reads "little guitar solo", when it's Alto Reed on the tenor sax.
Bob Seger is amazing. ❤❤
Feel like a number by bob seger!
'Roll Me Away' is my favorite.
This was great "old stiffie"😂😂🤣🤣
Bj rocking out!
Since this song was released it gets people on the dance floor, be it a bar, a wedding reception, or just a party, it is just a song that makes you want to move.
I'm 64 with a bad heart. I DON'T STAND STILL FOR THIS SONG. Gotta go take a nap now. See ya. Lol
you’ll be tapping your toes even in your sleep
This one is a sure fire way to get people on the dance floor at a wedding or any gathering!
Love ole Bob Seger, Detroit Rock City, ✌️💯
Bj you funny man, ole stiffy 🤣 🤣 🤣
Can't hear this one without seeing Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear! What a jam!🎶🎵🎶
No, no, no! Go back to ALF!!
I can because I heard this on the album before "Risky Business".
@@vernhoke7730 wish i had then i wouldn't have this awful Tom Cruise vision! Lol😁
@@deeanddude Missed it on Alf! Would much rather have Alf in my visions rather than Tom! Lol😁
Yea, nice underwear...
That song is an anthem. Love it!
One of the best songs to dance to and you two did great grooving in your seats
I used to see Bob Seger concerts before he was famous. He used to play at a ski area, near me, in MI.
I am 79, and I was MOVING every second. I remember when it first came out.
There were a lot of rockers who HATED disco back in the ‘70’s, myself included!
You hit the nail right on the head. Back in the 70's there was a real divide between those of us who were scared of girls and those who weren't. So good to see you love Bob Seger. Been my favorite since the 70"s.
BJ cracked me up on this one !
This was a great reaction. BJ you are right about can't sit still.
Best rock n roll voice
My mom is 67 and this song is her ring tone 😂😂😂
"An old stiffy" ... I can't stop laughing 😂 😆
Happy Birthday Bob your music is the soundtrack of my life
Absolutely a classic
It's crazy that this song is still relatable in 2023. 🧡🥰
My mother scared the daylights out of me once. She needed me to run up to the store to grab her something and told me to take her car since she had me blocked in. No problem. Love your avatar. Seger's "Old Time Rock 'n' Roll" and Chief Wahoo...two great reminders of my youth!
Omg I laughed all over again with this one 😂😂😂.
I love this song. When my grandsons come over, we listen and dance to this at some point. You got to introduce them to good music!
BJ you are spot on!! If you don't dance to this and make yourself just smile you are an old stiffy lmao. I was waiting for you two to get up outta your seats and shake it!!
LOVE this reaction!

This song is featured in the movie, Risky Business. A very good movie by the way.
This was always played at family reunions. Love Bob
The King of Detroit Rock and Roll

lol cute when she started grooving. great song
You guys had me at "old stiffy"...New sub lmao!😂😂😂
How many rock n roll bands throw horns in the mix. Literally none. Just can't go wrong with Bob and his silver bullets.
Classic Risky Business!
Watch out for the Ol Stiffys living under a pebble!
Segers LONG TWIN SILVER LINE would go straight to your road trip playlist
Song reminded me of a Movie you might enjoy.
Risky Business...
Young Tom Cruise
Iconic Dance Scene to Bob Seger song.
Happy Valentines
Just watched a fantastic true story..
Hidden Figures...I'm 68 and I did not know this.
Everyone should see this movie.
Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer
I agree Asia, bob has a lot of gospel in his voice
You nailed it BJ. Spent many a night at the pool hall/drive in too wasted to even hit the cue ball with this song blasting out of the jukebox.
Try "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man" by Bob Seger. It was his first US hit many years before he got big.
Great song, early Bod Seger is awesome to. Lucifer Live 1970 video is a young Seger barely able to grow facial hair. The tune really rocks. The drummer ihas a set of drums that I never saw before. Bob Seger also plays guitar in the video.
Great song and in all the years I saw Seger in concert, maybe 15 times he's never done that song which is too bad.
I used to see Bob Seger playing around bars on the Detroit area after The Bob Seger System broke up. Even saw him for free at a local mall opening. Then came The Silver Bullet Band. Boom!
The King of Detroit Rock and Roll
Can't beat Bob. Good job guys!
You got it, BJ. Definitely an air guitar kind of song.
It's true... oldie but goodie‼️👍🏼👍🏼
Old Stiffie! LOL
You two looked like you were having fun. Great reaction!
K, I didn't move this time cause I was into the reaction part of it. I've heard this song since I was a child, I ain't no old stiffy. Great reaction!
