This is iconic Rock’n Roll! I think everyone in the world knows the lyrics and just can’t help rocking out to them. One of the best songs ever written! Thanks Greg!
An unbelievable rocker from Michigan who grew up with Motown music. No one like him ever. He adds rock and soul together. A story teller like no other.
I owned a laundromat in the 80's. I installed a stereo system to keep from being bored and had the radio set to a rock station. One day I was doing some repairs and Old Time Rock and Roll came on the radio. The store was pretty full with adults and kids, and when the song started one of the costumers hollered out "Turn it up!" I cranked the volume up and everyone in the laundromat started singing the song and dancing around the washers and dryers. It was out of a MTV video, choreography and all.
Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. He had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Mainstreet", "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Turn The Page", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight" etc.
i LOOOOOOOOVe your reaction to this.. this is my "womb music" been hearing it since was in the womb.. this is my childhood in a song... since the 70's I'm so loving you loving this...
"Take those old records off the shelf" didn't mean to get rid of them. When rock and roll first appeared, it was only available on vinyl records and he was saying "take those old rock and roll records off the shelf and play them". (It's Seger, not Segar)
This song has everyone on the dance floor from those first notes! They put down their drinks and hit and you can't sit this one out if you got any love for music.
“Like a Rock” is my all-time favorite Bob Segar song. My dad turned me on to Bob when I was 6 years old. I get chills everytime I hear it. So much emotion. ❤️❤️ ~Pentaholic from Louisiana 🐊
@@fauxmedia3182 you're welcome. I was in my late teens and early 20's in the 70's and 80's so I personally enjoyed those times of my life more than any other time.
Keep going on Bob. You won't be disappointed. Favorites of mine ... Against the Wind, You'll Accompany Me and Sunspot Baby. Now I'm gonna go listen to some Bob Seger. Thanks Greg. Enjoying your reactions. 👍☮️
I saw him in Concert back in the day. HE WAS GREAT! White carpet roll out, white baby grand piano. No shoes! He plays several instruments. Watching him play that piano was amazing! His concert hit the road running, & his how Show never stopped hitting it. He has a lot of songs, you will be surprised @ them. You’ve probably heard more than you think. At least a few lines. This is the song playing with Tom Cruise, in Risky Business!

Bob Segar’s music is FIre🔥🔥. Not sure what recommendation’s you’ve already gotten but mine are ; Like a Rock, Against the Wind, and my personal favorite, Kathmandu. There’s so many great songs this man; what a treat to hear them for the first time or like you finding out you’ve been listening to him for years and didn’t know it. For some of us it’s the soundtrack of our lives. Great reaction!!
The movie Risky Business with Tom Cruise when he comes sliding in the room in a white button down shirt and just his socks on This is the song that they play.
This song was written and performed by musicians from Muscle Shoals Sound studio in the Shoals area of North Alabama. The Swampers of Lynrd Skynrd Fame.
The most important thing about history is not WHAT happened, but WHEN it happened. Then you can understand wtf happened. This is a song about history, so here I go. When I started High School, in '67, my generation had the world by the tail. We were going to do some serious s**t. By the time I started University, all my heroes were dead, and the rest of us ran for cover. The music even disappeared. All you could hear was Disco. For six years I couldn't stand the radio, and I listened to the same three albums on my 8 track. Morrison Hotel, L.A. Woman and Sticky Fingers. Winter of 78-79, I'm driving around with a new hiree in our carpentry shop in his metallic deep blue 75 Monte Carlo, looking for a bar. He fires in a cassette, and THIS song comes on. I shout at him over the music, "Where the h*ll did this come from? Who is this?" All I can make out, (it was really loud), was "....new album..." It brought me out of a long depression. The next day in my car, I turn on the radio, wondering if it still works, and the first song I hear is John Lennon, "It's Just like Starting Over". I shouted at the roof of my car. "Johnny's BACk!! He'll fix this! He'll save us!! And so I did. I started over. You cannot imagine the devastation and terror I felt when, in less than two years, he lay dead in the street, just like all the rest. I'm trying to tell you, all this madness and bulls**t and fear that surrounds us, it's all intentional and it started back then. Rock and Roll was a chronicle of it's times. Todays music ain't got no soul or history. We always have Hope, though. We have to act on our hope. And so... Later that winter, I met a green-eyed-lady and I asked her out for a drink after work, about 10pm. We went to a cabaret and as we sat down, the band said this was their last song of the night. They started playing "Old Time Rock N Roll". She looked at me and asked me to dance. We still love each other, I guess.
Great reaction, Greg! You should really check out, "Shame on the Moon", a real beauty! Others are "Come to Papa", "Turn the Page,, " or so many others , anything he sings is great!!
Anything by Bob is great. My dad is a huge Segar fan and introduced me to his music. I've been a fan ever since. I'm not sure what of his you've reacted to but Mainstreet and Night Moves is a must. Happy listening!
Since you've heard Bob Segar, I wonder if you'd like to check out some more southern rock? "Credence Clearwater Revival - Down On The Corner (Jam With Booker T.)" this is southern rock at its finest also called "swamp rock" and blues-rock. The name of the band members are John Fogerty: Lead vocalist, Lead guitarist, and primary songwriter, Tom Fogerty (his brother) Rhythm Guitarist, Stu Cook Bassist, and Doug Cliford Drums. This band has an extensive collection and would be a great rabbit 🐰hole 🕳 Take care
Dude, you look like a young Eddie Murphy. Congrats on that shit. And I hope you keep discovering ol' time music that turns your stache to a smile. Godspeed, my friend.
Think you wouldn't mistake the singer of Old Time Rock N' Roll as Little Richard, but there is some similarity betwwn Segar and Richard ... For a change of pace, would like to see your reaction to Heilung's "LIFA."
I'm a big metal head but I prefer much older music, even if it's not rock. I even like Sinatra, Dean Martin, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Frankie Valli and the four seasons. A lot of people think that's funny of me to like all that as a metal head.
I have an amazing video for you to react to. Am I the one live at the Presidio by Beth Hart. MUST WATCH, IT'S WORTH IT!!!!! I'd rather go blind featuring Joe live from Amsterdam is another amazing one. Trust me, you are gonna wanna react to it.
