there that and also for grinding it's very good since you can carry enough for doing 2 base without sacrificing any good missiles (the magic 2) and it doesn't reduce your top speed like a F4
Quick note to add on the Yak-3 (VK-107): If youre using MEC to try to keep the engine from boiling itself into a liquid, setting the prop pitch down to even like 98-95% DRASTICALLY reduces the heat. Enough to run WEP for basically the entire match.

The British Avenger Mk2, basically a copy-paste TBF-1C with an extra pair of British knock-off Tiny Tims. HOWEVER, it gets a HUGE SL modifier comparable to the rank 3 premium fighters except it's 1.7 BR. It has a solid payload for reserve BR, the two .50s in the wings are good enough when dealing with enemies, you can actually outturn some early monoplanes using the flaps, and the defensive guns are good enough to keep the kites with guns off your tail. If you need a LOT of SL while spending as little money as possible, this is a good pick, especially if you're only just starting to grind for Britain. 2. The Tu-2S. Now realistically any model of these apply, but the original Soviet pre-44 model is the best one given that (for some reason) the Soviets decided to neuter their 1000kg bombs, so while the Tu-2S gets 636kg of TNT in their 1000kg bomb, the Tu-2S-44 and Tu-2S-59 only has 394kg of TNT in their 1000kg bomb. I got a talisman for free on one and it gave typically 15,000xp per match. It's very similar in playstyle to the Avenger mentioned previously: Good bomb load for a light bomber, decent guns (2 ShVAKs with 150 rounds each), VERY agile with flaps, decent defensive guns for dealing with kites with guns. And 3. Either of the late model Canberras (Canberra B Mk.6 (late) or B-57B). The Brit Canberra is the lighter of the two, having a much smaller payload, but offers much better flight performance. You can climb up to 7,000-8,000 meter altitudes easily and drop your payload on a base before turning your attention to any high climbing aircraft. Your controls are also a bit sloppier than a fighter, but you have 2000 rounds across 4 20mm Hispano cannons so you can act like a Twitter user and be liberal on the trigger. The American Canberra is a bit different. Your payload is a lot bigger, but your overall flight performance is considerably hampered and your guns are a lot more awkward. While you can still dogfight if you're smart, it's a lot more difficult to pull off since you don't do cartwheels in the air like a gymnastics pro (though this makes it harder to rip your wings), and you don't climb quite as easily as the lighter cousin either. You also start with four high fire rate .50s located outboard of the engines on each wing, making shooting down fighters a tricky ordeal. However, you can replace the wimpy .50s with four 20mm cannons that are identical to the ones on the F-5 Tiger with a fair bit of ammo to boot. Whichever one you choose depends on whether you prefer dogfighting or ground strike. Hope this helps!
This talisman guide has been very useful! I would love if you made a new video for tier 7 and 8 of each nation for this year's talisman sales. Tier 8 is useful, particularly to know what to grind for.

I have actually had a fair amount of success with the J-7D, though I say that as a somewhat ok pilot who has also completed the USSR tech tree and is used to flying a lot of MiG-21s. I think the addition of the 12.3 bracket reduced the amount of uptiers into 12.0 for the 11.0 jets, making it a bit more doable.
the 104j is good if you learn how to use it properly and just got a buff by way of the ability to use 6 missiles over the previous 4 although i would only carry 5 and a rocket pod to spoof head on all aspects
As someone who just unlocked rank 6 and is currently researching the T-2 I'm not looking forward to it. Only good thing (if you can even put it that way) is that you can research the F-16 directly with the F-1. But still, no flares...
@@paktahn I use the rocket pod all the time, trust me - it still sucks. It's not a good plane at 10.3, and may god have mercy on your soul if you even sniff an uptier
A6e premium grind is such a good SL maker. With a 960% multiplier and 11x 1000lbs you have enough for 2 bases plus an enemy plane or some ground units. Talking over 100k sl per match victory and over 64k sl per defeat just getting 3 tons of bombing done.
In my oppinion, J-7E, J-8B and J-8F are the funniest jets to play on war thunder, the hard thing is only has 4 missiles on 11.0, but still a good planes to play on close combats at top tier, it´s a lot fun. I would put the booth 11.0 on A tier and J-8F on S
They didn't put the f-4s or f-5c on sale :( I have heard bad things about the AV-8A harrier but I am considering getting it because there are no other cheap options for high tier America. What are your thoughts? I also heard the f-5c got a nerf because it now has fuel starvation, so if by some miracle it went on sale would it even be worth getting?
The main problem of the Mig-21 Lazur is that when it gets uptiered its gonna get shafted, on the same tier its decend but in down tiers it is pretty good. (Mainly because u can clap lv. 10 F-5C players)
For people planning on getting the F-4S I want to clarify, it actually DOES have slats and they are more aggressive than agile eagle slats so it actually turns better than most Phantoms, although it is unfortunately slower than the F-4J because of this.
I don't even know if it's still on sale but in my opinion the German Tempest is now better than the D13. Which is hard for me to say because I flew the D13 religiously and have over a 3 KD in it. The Tempest turn performance and the Hispano performance right now makes it very good
I've grinded out the entire Japanese tech tree up until the F-16, almost exclusively with the A6M5 Ko. Took me years. No regrets. Also, correction: 01:02:30 The F-16AJ doesn't have AIM-7M, only AIM-7F
KA-50 is great for silver lions, if you have premium account and can manage to get a high sl booster from daily I HIGHLY recommend you use it with the KA-50. Play 30 minutes to use the whole booster and you can get 200-500K sl depending on the booster.
Time 14:54 The F-82E. I really like the plane but I never fly it. The problem is the repair cost. If you want to grind or earn silver lions, this plane for those of us in the average pilot range will spend more silver lions repairing it than farming money.
Is it me or did they nerf the damage from 20mm explosve rounds? I was using the I-225 and usually never had issues with the default belt and this plane has freaking 4 cannons. I was thinking I was only hitting with AP but in protection analysis 20mm rounds won't turn a wing instant black anymore and MG 151/20 did actually the most damage. I also survived getting hit way more without instantly exploding. From test-drive I can confirm that IL-2 can take several hits from 20mm FI-T without instantly losing a wing or tail, which is in my opinion a good change because the damage before was just way over the top.
love the format and the video was amazing, my only issue was with the placement of the American F-84G. You're right about it consistently going against 8.3 jets but if you bring rockets on the wingtips and then dump them at the beginning of the match, on min fuel you can confidently go up against those 8.3s. If the F-84G gets it's tier or below there's really no aircraft that can keep up with you and you can dictate how dogfights play out. For me it's an easy A tier but I might just be biased xD
Id add that the be-6 is an amazing silver lion printer as well guns allow you to consistently get atleast 2 kills a game and has enough bombs for 2 bases
I find the MiG-21S actually fantastic, and I dont use the Rocket pods. Its so fucking fast (technically faster than an F-104 but not effectively faster) for the BR that you can just always stay away from the missile buses, I almost never get aim-9Led. The R-3Rs are absolute arrows but you can lead them and they are obv all-aspect, I have a massive soft spot for them and I usually land at least 2, the other thing is no-one really expects them. If ur opponent is dumb u can reverse them and since everyone likes to try and throttle drop you u just win scissor fights a lot. Most of the time its just the speed and climb that just allow you to exit at will. Ofc classic MiG-21 terrible retention so rate fighting is typically not an option unless its a phantom or something but you dont need to rate fight people. I totally understand why It didnt go S, but I just like it a lot - and this is coming from someone who loves the energy fighting/retention playstyle, I played both MiG-19s a lot aswell as the 15bis and the Lim-5P. You do just have to play sort of passively so I see why defyn doesnt like it as much as I do edit: dont come at me if you dont like it or agree, there are a lot of downsides and Its just a plane that I like.
Great overview thanks, though I'm surprised you haven't mentioned at all the I-185 (M71) and the Yak3p, both amazing planes as well. For my personal preference I would put those 2 in S tier for USSR, together with I-225, regular Yak3 and La-7. Not a fan of Yak3U at all tbh, and most of the other planes. Out of the premiums for USSR I do love the P47 thunderbolt, great for GRB and not bad for ARB, and the Kingcobra is not bad as well. For Germany S tier for me is the DORA, amazing plane def agree with that one, BV 155 is fun as well got that one from battlepass awhile ago. For USA S tier def XP50, great little plane. Haven't bothered with other nations yet, and not a fan of Jets so far, I do have Mig15bis and Mig19pt, but jesus fuck what a nightmare of a BR where ALL you see are lock on missiles flying your way, NONE STOP. Screw jets.... lol. Maybe one day ill give it a go, but I also enjoy Heli's, Tanks and Ships so I've got plenty to play with.....

Just got the Mirage 2000C-s5 as my first rank 8, and honestly, the grind starting from rank 6 isn't too painful. I did get lucky in the sense that it was a breeze to get through when they moved the vautours up a rank because I only had to grind 2 planes to get to rank 7 and I could skip through the super etendard to get the jaguar, but honestly, the some planes are genuinely not that bad. The Etandard IV m's guns are great, the III e is nice with the magic 1s and its speed, and the mirage f-1c(not premium), is actually super fun when you get the magic 2s. (I did get a talisman for it out of a battle trophy so it did make it less painful). Honestly, if this isn't your first time grinding an air tech tree, I would recommend the premium Mirage f-1C-200 to spare yourself rank I through V's painful aircraft.(would not have said this had the vautour's bomber variants not lost their air spawn cuz they made good rp).
There's one plane you've missed, it might not be interesting in case of performance, but it simply is cheaper to buy GE through buying this plane than buying them alone and on top of that you'll get 14 days of premium for 10 euro's besides 2000 GE. It's the USA A-26C-45DT, if you're thinking of buying GE, just buy this plane I think this one slipped through the cracks because it makes no sense.
I'm considering a F-5E US talisman just for future to come aircraft so it takes me half the matches to grind them I got talisman on MiG-21MF germany and I gotta say its one of my favorite aircraft, I know its on F-5C BR but I know how to handle them, and some times you get a couple F-105s and F-4Cs without Flares and easy frags, 20-40k RP depending on how the match goes, 60k RP record with 300% booster and thats before the Skill Bonus
I'm glad to have an affirmation that the A7M1 is good. I don't know why, but everyone always seems to shit on it and say it is unflyable and every time I hear that I wonder if I get placed in some alternate dimension whenever I fly it as it has always seemed to me to be leagues better than most everything at its BR.
No love for the P-38K? I like it for bomber hunting tasks since you've got the air-spawn, you've got the engine power, and you generally face 4 Ju-288s with little competition from your team.
I got the Skill Issue decal. I've purchased premium for 1 year and also the pyorraisd - the sweedish plane and the xp-50. Thank you for your insight DEFYN! I love your videos and the humor
Anyone else confused as to why there's tech tree videos on these charts? I don't see what they have to do with a buyers guide for premiums and stuff. I get that their purchase costs are reduced but that's about it, the bonuses on them aren't comparable to the premiums. Everything else I understand.
For grinding Britain i recommend the Sea Vixen for the absolutely insane amount of money you get per kill (~12k without premium) and the xp bonus is also pretty decent. That said it is a little boring but the missiles are pretty okay

I own 8 F2G-1s. Bought them when they were like 4 bucks, they're about $25 now.
I considered doing that and really wish I had, just free money really.
They didn't put the f-4s or f-5c on sale :(
I have heard bad things about the AV-8A harrier but I am considering getting it because there are no other cheap options for high tier America. What are your thoughts?
I also heard the f-5c got a nerf because it now has fuel starvation, so if by some miracle it went on sale would it even be worth getting?
They should go on sale Wednesday
@@DEFYN Kfir canard is gonna be on sale in wednesday too?
will the mig 23ml be discounted as well?@@DEFYN
They should be but I know as much as you do
@@DEFYNso the f5c will be on sale in the next few hours or on wednesday?
American Zero is also a great SL grinder and a nice alternative to boom-n-zoom XP-50. And it’s now a Rank 3.
At last... I was so glad when the outro dropped, so I could finally go to bed.
The main problem of the Mig-21 Lazur is that when it gets uptiered its gonna get shafted, on the same tier its decend but in down tiers it is pretty good. (Mainly because u can clap lv. 10 F-5C players)
I love the condensed version of the video which is somehow longer than the regular version
Carries on talking as the harrier continues to float across the screen. Very funny
i am truly shocked you put the jasdf f-40 at b tier. its so fun to fly. it prints me so much money.
I like the mig better for that kind of premium
For people planning on getting the F-4S I want to clarify, it actually DOES have slats and they are more aggressive than agile eagle slats so it actually turns better than most Phantoms, although it is unfortunately slower than the F-4J because of this.
Thanks DEFYN for making my decision much easier on purchasing prem planes. Now even got your decal to put on it.
Aim7f and aim7m are in game the exact missile they just look a lil different
KA-50 is great for silver lions, if you have premium account and can manage to get a high sl booster from daily I HIGHLY recommend you use it with the KA-50. Play 30 minutes to use the whole booster and you can get 200-500K sl depending on the booster.
VERY useful video, ty. I'm one of the wackos who saw it whole btw.
fastest hour and a half of my life, these types of vids r like meditation :3
In Italy the hs129 premium is worth the pickup if you want to criminally seal club biplanes. Got me all the Italian props very quickly.
Time 14:54 The F-82E. I really like the plane but I never fly it. The problem is the repair cost. If you want to grind or earn silver lions, this plane for those of us in the average pilot range will spend more silver lions repairing it than farming money.
i love hearing defyn breathe air for 1 hour and 32 minutes.
I watched the whole video and now I’m going to go to sleep, see you in my dreams Defyn :)
"I'm sorry if I called you a shi**er but that's just the best way to do it."
Lol.
love the format and the video was amazing, my only issue was with the placement of the American F-84G.
Should I get the French Top Tier Premium or the Swedish top tier premium?
You do just have to play sort of passively so I see why defyn doesnt like it as much as I do
edit: dont come at me if you dont like it or agree, there are a lot of downsides and Its just a plane that I like.
F-4S gets slats that are actually better than the Agile Eagle slats, will pull harder but bleed speed faster when pulling hard.
21:27 It does have slats though no?
21:25 the F-4S isn't a hard wing, is it? I thought it had slats similar to the F-4E.
Low B tier for the Lazur M is a very generous rating 38:30 😂💀
56:49 damn I didn't expect a gundam joke from Defyn
One small nitpick is that the Mirage F-1C has Super 350F and not 350D's, it would be so much better if it could take the D missiles
Screw jets.... lol. Maybe one day ill give it a go, but I also enjoy Heli's, Tanks and Ships so I've got plenty to play with.....
btw J26 David has different belts from P-51 that don't set fires and don't do anything in general
Streamlined AND longer, perfect
Hey guys, I wanted to ask - is the crew points video from DEFYN (3 years ago) still relevant? I just bought an XP-50 and would like to setup my crew but dont know if the video still says the right stuff.
Yeah nothing changed
Thanks, I got your decal too, so I can excuse my skill issue @@DEFYN
I get so much kills with the Vautour IIN (Late) using the AA Nord, I was the first surprised how effective it is once hooked to a joystick !
very good video
if you want quick glance u just skip to timestamps and if u care about detail u get a nice podcast to fall asleep to or whatever
i dont need the guidance having 6000 hours as mostly a pilot but will share to friends who i cant be asked to lore dump with
also a talisman tier list INSIDE is very very good
Alright, gonna ask real quick and real concise. J-7D or A-5C for full chinese tech-tree grind. I'm VERY confident in my missile gameplay and whatnot, just not sure if the J-7D is gonna suck ass in constant uptiers to top tier.
It's both kinda shit
J7D is essentially a 21mf with better misiles at 11.0 so youre in uptier hell
A5C is better but youre stuck in F5C hell lol
Its up to you
I have both, I personally think the J7D is more fun, and the A5C you can throw into GRB. Also the A5C allows you to bomb bases. Again up to you.
I watched the whole thing, ill be prepared to meet you in my dreams
Excellent video. Dont mind the length.
Now do tanks! ;D
would you be willing to do a CAS tierlist like this :]. Been thinking of working on Strike Aircraft but not really sure.
hahaha. Most honest warthunder youtuber fr. Love it
This is brilliant, wish someone as knowledgeable would do this for ground
The ta154 is an amazing plane when you play it like an interceptor
Shut
Thanks for your work
I watched the entire video 8) which is more fun to fly: Mirage F1C-200 or J35XS?
Tough choice, i have the j35a and its fun when you learn how to aim the guns because it has no tracers
Great video!
It’s tough over here in Australia man
There's one plane you've missed, it might not be interesting in case of performance, but it simply is cheaper to buy GE through buying this plane than buying them alone and on top of that you'll get 14 days of premium for 10 euro's besides 2000 GE. It's the USA A-26C-45DT, if you're thinking of buying GE, just buy this plane I think this one slipped through the cracks because it makes no sense.
1:20:09 nice looking aeroplane, does anyone happen to know how much GE it costs?
@glitched
I'm considering a F-5E US talisman just for future to come aircraft so it takes me half the matches to grind them
I got talisman on MiG-21MF germany and I gotta say its one of my favorite aircraft, I know its on F-5C BR but I know how to handle them, and some times you get a couple F-105s and F-4Cs without Flares and easy frags, 20-40k RP depending on how the match goes, 60k RP record with 300% booster and thats before the Skill Bonus
I love your videos and the humor
so the link isnt virus?
wow another buyers guide by DEFYN
Hey defyn, what are your thoughts on the later P-63s?
I think he said they should be like 5.0 😂
1:17:06
The tech tree G.91 R1 does have both AA-20 and AS-20 Nords though
Anyone else confused as to why there's tech tree videos on these charts? I don't see what they have to do with a buyers guide for premiums and stuff. I get that their purchase costs are reduced but that's about it, the bonuses on them aren't comparable to the premiums. Everything else I understand.
Talismans are also 50% off so if people want to go that route instead of premium the info is there.
@@kosmic__gaming1011 Oh forgot about talismans, gotcha, thanks
Can you make energy fight Examples #2?
Defyn i want to grind the french tree, do i need to get the f1c-200?
it's a good grinder but the plane itself is kinda mid.
does skip the painful french grind but that's it really.
@@DEFYN nice, should i play it as a bomber, fighter or both (both right ? Best of the 2 worlds)
@@Theunluckyoneoffboth
what about british premium harrier GR1 with the SRAAMs? I think that one was forgotten. Is it any good?
Hey Defyn what about Harrier GR.1?
Sent this to a friend and he pointed out the length of the video to which i went woudnt you wanna listen to defyn rambling about planes for 1.5hrs?
1:17:48 You forgot about the G55s. Is it an A, B or C?
For grinding Britain i recommend the Sea Vixen for the absolutely insane amount of money you get per kill (~12k without premium) and the xp bonus is also pretty decent. That said it is a little boring but the missiles are pretty okay
For SL I always use the British Avenger. Makes me 50k per match on average. For more relaxed gameplay I like the Catalina's. ( I have all of them :D )
The Russian premium 21ML won't be going on sale this year as per Gaijin's post confirming planes released in the Sons of Attila or Kings of battle updates won't be included.
23ML is from the apex predator update
No BF 110 rating in the italian tree or the premium P-51s in the US-tree?
