The driver was in control and chose to swerve the car either left or right. The car supports the steering and keeps the car stable and in control. As sometimes a jerk to the steering wheel espc in an emergency could swerve a car out of control. If it’s really close to a pedestrian it would brake but if the pedestrian Is far enough you can swerve to right or left and you can brake it a little help the active brake
