COD Vanguard Design VS. History

- COD Vanguard is really pushing it whenever it comes to design vs. immersion.
I'm so happy that I got this video out to you guys before the end of the Summer! No promises for a quick video turn around, but I do want to let you guys know it's on my list of things to do. I want to give you guys the best quality video while also respecting my free time and work/school schedule. So thank you guys, and I look forward to making the next one!
Also,
I want to thank everyone involved in helping come up with video ideas and participating in the video, you know who you are! - เกม
The most traumatizing part of this game was seeing an M1 Garand with a drum mag lying on the ground.
Absolutely spooky!
How tf does that happen
The fuck? How do you even make that work?
It was a m1 carbine not an m1 battle rifle
@@_lambert-spotternope, this game lets you put a drum mag on a garand.
Edit: I may actually go back to vanguard, making a Heavy Machine Gun out of the Volksturmgewehr is fun.
Even though vanguard sucks.
If Activision was too scared to portray history as it was then they shouldn’t try at all.
That’s why as much as I’d love to see another WAW I’d never want them to do it. Not these days.
@@MrMustang13That's about as truthful as the older original COD games. I'd love a remake or something like it, but it would probably be pretty bad if they did.
They should’ve left it as it was and been content with the 5 games and expansions they had released. A remastered cod 2 would’ve been better
Battlefield 1 and Genderfield 5 were worse. CoD WW2 portrayed the war fairly well but everyone listens to influencers like The Act Man.
They weren’t too scared. They just knew they would get waaayy more sales with Snoop Dogg and Godzilla skins than anything remotely authentic
The sad thing is that the weapon customization could have been really interesting if they just grounded it in reality. There ARE cool experimental variants out there like the magazine fed M1 Garand, Gewehr 43 chambered in 7.92 Kurz, that one dual magazine system for the MP40, the double stack magazine version of the TT-33, and so on. Those are the kinds of things that I wouldn't mind seeing. Not the abominations we were given.
I know right? There's so many actual examples of attachments and augmentations to the weapons of this era that you'd think it would be easy to pull from history to craft these attachments.🤷♂
even those cool experimental things can be in the game but cant be meta or else everyone uses then and the game becomes unrealistic, experimental guns should be weak, so just a minority uses them like irl and red dot sights in cod waw were very annoying to see, just breaks the immersion.
they should be handicap guns or attachments so just a minority uses or the game becomes unrealistic, and breaks immersion and camos should be only the ones used in war@@StrobeliteYT
And to think that they actually advertised having talked to multiple WW2 experts for supposed authenticity...
@@zetoaraujo7546 What's the point in putting content in the game that just punishes you for using it? It's not really a reasonable expectation at this point given how CoD is known for it's weapon customization.
Call of Duty Vanguard is truly one the Call of Duty of Call of Duty.

One Of The Worst, Debate Me Woke Mob
I'll wager this; In an ocean of WWII games time forget, you will PROBABLY remember Vanguard 10 years from now for being "the one where the Terminators fought Godzilla." In a fast moving space like AAA gaming and games based on WWII, that is a feat in of itself.
That is so funny because you're so right! Vanguard is just so off the wall that I think it'll be impossible to forget
@@StrobeliteYT COD Vanguard= generic 2020s COD game but with WW2 reskin
It wont be remembered in a good way genus
I bet it'll be forgotten like some other COD like Ghosts
@@SiPakRubah People haven't forgotten about Ghosts, it's still a subject of much debate, especially after that cliffhanger.

Very well made video. It baffles me that all the original leaks for this game said that the campaign would take place in an alternate 50's where WW2 was still going on, and they simply threw that out. Now only would that have made a cool story, it would somewhat excuse the plethora of strange modifications and prototype guns that can be found (at least the ones that were available before that one season where they added all those 70's guns).
I didn't even know that, this video probably wouldn't have been made if they stuck to their original plans for the game. I'm curious what made them reconsider this option? That's absolutely crazy!
I remember hearing that too, and I thought the same thing at the time. 'Ahh, well its alt history, so its kinda excusable.' Then the game actually came out, I saw campaign gameplay, and they just packed WW2 with nothing but drum mags and sturmgewehrs
When I heard about this game, I was confused about why they didn't go full Wolfenstein.
gotta have dat green tho💀 💵
I like this guy. WaW, DOI, and Dino D Day are the most based WWII shooters out there!
They're some of the best out there! Nothing beats those nights where you'd boot up World at War and go crazy in Battery.
Dont forget cod 2 and 3
@@train_go_boom2065 Fair, but WaW is the most based COD so that was the only COD I listed. COD 1 and it's expansions are also worthwhile
DOI is my favourite WW2 multiplayer game ever, absolutely awesome!
Deadly underrated. It's literally WWII Insurgency but no one knows about it@@jtukko
9:38 main theme from original cod 1 😤🥲🥲😢got me teary eyed for that masterpiece
I remember being a youngling playing the brecourt manor level and there's a point where you and your squad are under fire stuck in a trench. There's an injured soldier basically out in no man's zone bleeding out under a tree. Your NCO Sgt. Moody is screaming at the medic to get his shit together and do his job to save that soldier but the medic is in complete shock and crying pissing himself on the ground as bullets whiz past him. He's crying because so many guys are getting killed, and he's shocked they're shooting medics too. Eventually Sgt. moody takes matters into his own hands and you have to cover him while he goes and grabs the soldier himself. If you don't cover him well enough he's toast and you gotta go grab some explosives off of him in order to complete the mission. This scene adequately scared the shit out of me as a child and made me grateful as fuck to not have to experience this.

Thank you my good sir! As someone who loves and studies history I love your videos and I can't wait to see what other projects you have in the works down the road!
Yea the audacity of some of these horrible design flaws of the bloodiest conflict in all of human history is like a poorly written diss track on a war vet.
The worst part of all was the traumatic weapons creation system, like putting a DRUM MAG on an M1 GARAND with a REFLEX SIGHT in STALINGRAD while playing as a FUTURISTIC ROBOT wielding a LASER RIFLE

@StrobeliteYT I think everyone in the comments is in agreement, that you definitely deserve more subs. I'm glad the algorithm recommended your video. Hopefully, more people will see this video and appreciate how well constructed and thought out this was.
Good luck on any future projects, and I'm sorry for the long-winded reply that basically could've been shortened down to "Great video! Hope to see more. " Dipping my toes in Davinci and Gimp made me understand how much effort some people go through to make game reviews like these.

Thanks! I appreciate that! I felt like it was important to mention because I knew people were gonna try to call me out if I didn't support my reasoning a little bit
It's an Arcade shooter. Go play Hell Let loose man. From the gameplay from this video I would prefer that people like this and others that play like this stfu and realize that their opinions don't mater on the gameplay, feel, look, or really any thing on the game other then Campaign.

Scoped M1 Garands did exist to be fair, they were officially designated by the US Army too as the M1C and M1D Garand. I think your point would have been more fair if you actually used any of the reflex sights in game that don't fit the setting
That's a fair point, I did know about scopes on M1 Garands, and it's my fault for not showing it in the clip, but that scope had a funky reticle that really messed up the theme of the rifle. I still appreciate the feedback though and I'll pay closer attention to showing things like that in the future.
@@StrobeliteYTbased creator acknowledges his mistakes because he’s goated
M1C/D's never made it into soldiers' hands before the war ended.
The fun* thing is, the scope in that image is a PU scope, of Russian origin, meant primarily for... the Mosin-Nagant. There's no official way to mount that to an M1 Garand.

Honestly what big studios don't realize is historically accurate games tend to be more fun than shit like vangaurd...
I always go back to Battlefield 1 when people argue historically authentic games don't sell well. That is arguably one of if not the best Battlefield titles ever and they didn't have to compromise all that much to achieve it.

Why thank you! I can't thank you enough for the sub! I'll try my best to keep the videos rolling for as long as I can!
I watched half of this video and I've already decided to subscribe. You're absolutely hilarious
The biggest issue with the weapons is that half of them wouldn’t even function after you’re through with them. You can’t chamber a Mosin rifle in 12.7x108mm, the receiver would catastrophically fail or the barrel would burst (or both at once). You can’t chamber a Mauser Broomhandle in .50 Pistol (the cartridge didn’t even exist in ‘45, and the gun probably would explode on the first round anyway). You certainly can’t just chop off the barrel of the MG42 if you want it to remain effective. You can’t put a drum on an M1 because it’s top-fed, the mechanics wouldn’t work-there’s a reason it took more than a decade to make the M14. Vanguard’s devs had no idea how firearms actually function, and it shows.
Oh em gee he’s back
