*in the board room* “Alright guys. We need to make a fun game” “Sir I have a good ideas, we could see what COD does… and not do any of that.” *helldivers 2*
Helldivers 2 has just a superb community. I just got carried by a level 50 veteran who likes RP and it was just so fun. Not even cringe, just pure fun.
I love how not only did they beat a studio with 30x their devs, but also there are reports of AAA studios rejected games with the EXACT gameplay loop as helldivers 2
Last night, I entered MW Warzone and spent the entire game on voice chat, recruiting players for Helldivers 2. I've already secured two new recruits, haha.
Helldivers 2 is a call back to the early 2010s of gaming where companies prioritized a quality product not microtransactions. I still remember Halo Reach and the game flat out implying "screw you, play the game to get the credits to buy that armor piece you want. We aren't going to let you just BUY IT"
Literally spent $0 after buying the base game. I have all the warbonds unlocked and recently got the scorcher for bot missions. All from playing the game. The armor sets in the super store? Same exact passives as ones you unlock naturally playing the game. No pay to win. I enjoyed this process so much I actually upgraded to the Super Citizen edition BECAUSE I WANTED TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS!! this is almost like tipping because you want to - not because you "have to"
@anidiotmakesthingsSeems like a problem for you then. Trying to play "meta" is an option, but most of the base guns are solid and not garbage or overpowered. They fit a play style
I'm 41 years old. Proud Gamer since I was in the womb. Playing Helldivers 2 and loving every minute of it. I don't remember the last time I had so much fun with a videogame.
This is probably well known by now, but HD2 was in development for so long that their game engine went defunct, so they had to update it and fix it themselves on top of making a whole ass game.
January = lethal company February = palworld March = helldivers 2 & content warning April = manor Lords Every month this year is dominated by indie game
That kind of stuff happens when there's a major lul in the AAA industry. Around 2015 CoD had completely dropped off and BF1 hadn't released yet so the biggest DICE project, Battlefront 1, had some controversy. Anyway that led to H1Z1 which originally sucked ass and wanted to make money in the first place, they became a BR, then PUBG, then Fortnite in 2017 to which the BR genre blew up. It's always up to the indie devs to renovate the gaming industry before the big dogs follow suit, someone else has to do it first.
I know right?! I can come home from work, play a round or two, and feel totally satisfied without feeling bored or like I'm grinding. A perfect balance.
Honesty, if Arrowhead ran out of budget for the game, they could just ask for donations from the community and I bet the community would support them wholeheartedly.
@@detectivebones671sure, maybe the unfixed bugs and nerfs in the patch aren’t always great, but the game is still insanely fun. They are always buffing certain weapons, mixing up the stale meta every update
@@aircraftcarrierwo-classwell they said the system for fire dmg is janky AF and hard to tweaks, and they said they do a complete reworks of it. so its understandable for it takes too long to fix
I feel like the way the Helldivers team makes the money is actually fair, They give you cheap and good content, while you give them a small bit of money that they earned(Edit: Save Helldivers from the Sonytomatons!)
@@lAMDEWAN BTW you don't have to buy Warbonds, you can find Supercredits in Missions at points of minor interest. Helldivers gave me the weird sensation that I actually WANTED to give them more money to support them so I buy supercredits anyway xD
True that. I’ve been 20 hours in and already got all the credits needed for my premium war bond (no purchases, got it all in-game and thru the free pass). Feels good
@@PREQuEL407 Exactly, you don't even need to put money in the game after the initial purchase to earn the premium warbonds. Getting SC from missions is so easy. I barely get to play HD2 because of my busy work schedule, and only play about 6 to 10 hours a week, sometimes less. And yet I have obtained all the premium warbonds so far completely for free.
I've unlocked like 80% of all the premium content in Helldivers 2 by just FINDING credits in points of interests while playing the game. I don't even grind them like some do I just happen to find enough over time. It's so rewarding.
yeah same, but tbh, about 2/3 months earlier you could find 100 super credits, now its down to 10, which i dont mind, but im pretty glad i farmed so much currency so i could buy almost every wabond without paying anything.
Tried to get someone to play hd2 with me, and that was the first complaint "all we are doing is getting killed by robots over and over" as opposed to getting killed by an 8yr old on CoD, Halo, Battlefield, Apex etc
The old days of COD is how I meet my girlfriend…she was one of the scariest and deadliest players I’ve ever met and now we are fighting the galaxy in Helldivers 2✊🏻
Another great thing about HD2 is that even when you lose, you are still winning. Landing on a planet and getting wrecked immediately is still so much fun. Winning is fun. Losing is fun. Crushing the map in minutes is fun. Barely making it out with a mere few seconds out is fun. Playing with friends is fun. Playing with randoms is fun. Randomly getting squashed by a flying bile titan is fun. Getting launched like a football a hundred meters away is fun. Seeing people run into stratagems after warning them is fun. And there are so many ways to play and so many difficulties to choose from so everyone can have fun in their range. Everything builds on the fun and the moments and memes are everywhere. I don't remember ever have so many great memories of any game like this other than Age of Empires 2.
You are right! I still have to get back to it. The only other games that really made me feel fun to another level like helldiver 2 is Golden Eye on Nintendo 64 and World of Warcraft.
@@chalp1290 The fact that its a "boring farming" gaming, tells everything you need to know about how you view games. Go back to Call of Duty if you're so inclined in this concept.
As a HellDivers 1 vet it makes me very happy to see this game doing well. I used to play 1 with my Nephew and when 2 came out he texted me very excitedly.
@@Geekezf The best part? They're not timed. You can stop spreading democracy (coward) for months and when you get back, your warbonds will still be there and you'll probably get showered in medals (like I did when I had to stop playing to upgrade my PC in the name of Democracy)
I think that what's even more rare is that you get SC at a reasonable rate if you're going for the "Loot Boxes" (shipping containers), "Distracting Ads" (beacon pods), and "Refer a Friend Promotions" (double doors) that litter every match you go into
Arrowhead communicates to the community, is realistic about their team size and ability to fix and release new content, gaslights users that the new flying enemies weren’t put in by them and “we don’t know what you’re talking about”. It’s amazing to watch passionate people get recognized and holy hell this game is a blast
@@lAMDEWAN what your video touches on is an interesting time period in gaming. We are seeing indie/AA studios putting out games that are knocking off the old guard in video gaming. It’s sad seeing how many developers and creators are getting laid off while their CEOs report record earnings but then we are seeing what smaller groups of focused people can do. The way Arrowhead puts it is perfect, “a game for everyone is a game for no one.” They knew what they were doing from the start and haven’t swayed from that expectation that they set on themselves. Subbed and hope to see more videos on democracy in the future
Love that quote from Arrowhead 🙌 definitely is an interesting time for gamers. I’m glad you’re sticking around man, I appreciate that! New vid later today 👀👍
You can tell who the COD players are by when they walk in front of an auto turret, die, start screaming, and then start team killing because they can't figure out its their own fault.
They buy the same slop every year and wonder why cod never improves back to the peaks of BO2, They aren't really the smartest batch of gamers. I am hoping things change and people realize to start playing games that actually deserve attention and not ones from triple a studios that are soulless.
Another way to spot them is they complained HD2 is repetitive when they haven't actually play with different kinds of strategems and weapons which make the gameplay to be different. And these kinds of people probably only play the easy missions.
I'm doing my part I've been playing Helldivers 2 with my coworkers in the last two hours of work, after management has gone home. After one session a coworker said they were thinking of getting the game --I handed them 40$ and said do it, Managed Democracy needs us.
One of my favorite things about the superstore is: they don't list super credits as a $100 bundle with 'BEST DEAL' written on it. The highest you can spend is $20, and that's enough for 2 full gear tree unlocks. That's fucking insane and I love it. I ALSO love that if you spend that $20 or whatever, it doesn't give you 1999 credits or some bullshit like that; it actually gives you 2100 creds! I mean you're still a little uneven, but giving you more for your money? I adore this company.
And i see that noone mentions you can ears the super credits, thats literally the only way i have unlocked 2 warbonds and well on my way (70%) to unlocking the 3rd one
This is what I wish halo infinite did in 2021. you win by being better than the competition. People support you if you do what the competition does better. This cosmetics should never be so overpriced and its about time people realize the value of them is as valuable as an NFT and they shouldn't be 30 to 50 bucks for just one skin.
Fighting bugs: Oh no, I’m gonna get crushed by a bug!! HAHA!! Fighting robots: *HIDING BEHIND A HILL WHILE A TANK SLOWLY APPROACHES YOU. YOU SEE YOUR TEAMMATE GET BLOWN UP 2 FEET AWAY FROM YOU. YOU START TO FEEL HOPELESS AS THE TURRET SLOWLY TURNS TOWARDS YOU AND AIMS DOWN.*
Helldivers 2 is the only game that made me actually want to pay for their currency, to support their team and enhance my experience, even though I easily could have just played more and collected super credits. It felt less like a purchase and more like a donation. I collected 1000 super credits simply by playing the game, which let me unlock Steeled Veterans, then I payed for the Cutting Edge warbond. Now that the latest warbond is out, I'm already halfway towards affording it, without spending a dime.
I love that you can find the Super Credits in game. You don’t have to buy a single SC with real money if you don’t want to. And all the Battle pass stick around so you can work on it on your own time.
The best part for Warbonds they only cost a 1,000 credits which to purchase that amount is only 10 dollars online it's really not that bad to be honest
@@travzac619 and you can’t just buy your way through the Battle Pass either. You have to play the game. And they give you so many opportunities to get medals. It’s a grind, but it doesn’t feel like one
Plus its nice to have a game where we are all on the same side and help each other out. I mean there are a few trolls who kick you or dont seem to notice friendly fire but overall everyone i meet i hug and we work together❤ kinda makes me hopeful
The coolest thing is that super credits only allows you to buy the warbond. You still HAVE to play the game to earn the stuff in it. You can't buy your way to a completed warbond. And, as your working on one warbond, organically through the 100 credit bonuses in all the bonds, and the small amounts you can find in game, you'll earn enough to buy the next warbond. It's genius.
The FOMO of not being there when you were called apon to serve democracy. I will tell you this, I didn't miss out on the glorious conquering of the creek but the future helldivers will be sad they missed out.
Yeah. I was there when we lost malevelon creek first time. I was there when we took out automatons. Granted they came back in force two days later but still!
It’s not even just call of duty players I think helldivers does a good job of bridging the gap between many people who probably wouldn’t otherwise be playing together. I never liked call of duty and I generally like more story driven games, but it’s one of the few games my step dad really plays. Suffice to say we didn’t really play together much until helldivers 2 came out and it’s honestly genuinely fun to play something with him we both love.
call of duty is the reason that when i look for a new game to play i dont look at status but does it look fun and thats how i landed in helldivers 2 for democracy
Some guys from work told me about Helldivers initially. I remember thinking it sounded cool, but still being hesitant given the state of the gaming market. They continued to talk about it for a few weeks, and eventually I was like "Okay, I gotta see what this is." So, I watched some gameplay, and I was like "Oh, this does look like a pretty cool game." I still held out for a bit longer, kept up with the news on the game for a bit. Kept hearing nothing but good things, so I gave in and bought it. The intro scene was so epic, the music was so awesome, the writing was witty, clever, and amusing. And the gameplay was just stunning. Even still, I'm sometimes blown away by the scale of the battles, explosions, and landscape. I think I played almost non-stop for 2 weeks straight (including nights after work) and put over 100 hours in after one month of owning the game 😅. It really is that good. Helldivers 2 has captured something really awesome, and I'm glad I decided to join the ride!
Bro cod is like that one uncle that is trying to fit in with everyone but can't while Helldivers 2 is the other uncle that stands out that everyone loves. I'm for sure buying Helldivers 2 now.
We all know that uncle. He dresses in "cowboy like" apparel, always seen with a beer but never is drunk because they stop after one can because they know moderation; talented in their favorite past time such as hunting while teaching lessons that you want to learn, never missing a niece or nephew's events/birthday and "second father" of sorts. Yeah, helldivers is that.
What actually is impressive is the game is bugged as hell. Like it is really bad. Every 3 to 5 games I get stuck in a rock or under the earth or get stuck in third person shooting an invisible gun that you can't really aim and you have to find the magical combo of diving and/or shooting or crouching to get out of it. And yet it is still fun even as crazy buggy as it is.
Just played after I posted this, and a bomb landed near me. Everything began rattling and shaking, but it didn't stop so it was like being trapped inside a popcorn maker. It stayed that way until I died. And my teammates had big purple ?s affixed over them. Like I said, supper buggy, and despite that, you just want to play again.
When Soap die in new MW3 I saw nothing happen No one feeling sad or posting about it But when Malevelon Creek war happen, i keep seeing memes happening These meme are the reason i buy this game I finally found a game that can make me play in long term and leave trash COD behind
Why would I, a game dev who makes a living out of milking these no-life incels for their money, want to communicate with these peasants for any reason? They'll pay me for nothing and be happy for it. Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
The fact you can even find the premium currency on the ground in missions is amazing too. My friend has bought 2 of 3 premium warbonds and almost has the 3rd without even paying a cent, just having fun with the guys.
remember when entire map packs used to be 10$ lol for 4 maps and a zombies map, now you spend 40$ to get 1 nicki skin and p92 pistol that shoots salt water into your OWN eyeballs
Anybody else notice that at 10:53 when the Helldiver steps on the Terminid's corpse, there is another Helldiver beneath it which raises their arm in protest to the extra weight?

I haven’t ever been a huge COD fan, last one I put any serious time into (and even that was casual) was Black Ops 1, but I have been playing the same game for 4 years… Friday night, I played Helldivers 2 with a buddy and MY GOD, it was such a welcome change of pace to my usual game, the visuals, the soundtrack, the team play, the accidental team kills when your friend runs in front of your line of fire, I never thought a 4 hour stream could be over so dam quickly, I didn’t want to go to bed, but sadly I had to, I am hooked on it.
@@lAMDEWAN it does indeed, I can’t remember the last game that had me so hyped to get back on after a long day of work, I stream 3 nights a week, so once the kids and the wife have gone to bed, nothing brings me better satisfaction than being team killed the moment I have just been redeployed… I mean squishing bugs in the name of democracy 🤣
An hour ago I was playing on a nighttime mission against the bugs. Visibility was low, we were on a suicide mission and some guy called a gating sentry to the extraction point. Only thing enabling us to see the incoming bugs was the muzzle flash of that turret and some construction lights around the point. I'm on low graphs but my man that was a sight almost as cinematic as battlefield 1. It was scary af as well. This game is a masterpiece for connecting people more with that non toxicity policy and delivering the atmosphere just right
The other day, my friends and I were waiting on evac on a terminid desert planet. We were on a decline, surrounded by slopes that towered over us. All of the terminids spawned on the hill and came running down in hordes at us. All the while, I kept thinking of that scene from Mulan when the huns arrive and charge down the mountain. "Prepare to fight! If we die, we die with honor!"
I once had to extract as the last member of my team, the ship was gone, there were fire tornadoes on the extraction, and a charger and 20 other smaller bugs were chasing me. I had to run around for more than a minute with only 1 stim, grab my partners samples, and somehow just barely managed to get onto the ship. It's moments like that which really make the game fun and worth every penny.
I used to play helldviers 1 with my friends and it was crazy fun just as helldivers 2 and it is still fun to this day. I genuinely dont know how more people didnt know about it.
It is absolutely hilarious that HD2 gave us a new Warbond bundle for 10$ to easily obtain in a very easy and passionate and fun way, while COD brought a new King Kong Gauntlet which you need to unlock after purchasing the rest of the bundles that costs about 80$!!
The fact I could watch Godzilla x Kong like 4 times irl and then buy the DVD when it comes out all for the same price of that dumbass fucking glove is staggering.
I don't play cod anymore so hearing the "king Kong gauntlet" just sounds like a meme. Oh how the game has changed since I seriously played and liked it.
You don’t actually have to spend $10 on the new warbond as you can get the credits in game. Therefore any warbond can be purchased with in game currency and you don’t have to spend any cash on getting any warbonds.
Recently bought helldivers after seeing my friends all playing it. At first I was just thinking it wasn’t for me, but then I finally convinced myself to buy the game because my friends were playing it nonstop. After only playing for 4 hours I bought the super citizen pack. That should tell you how good the game is.
I stand with Helldivers 2 so much that I've bought it for my brother and a friend just to play this with them. My brother, who was reluctant to even play it, is starting to play more and more often.
I think HD2 succeeds for multiple reasons, one of which is it doesn't follow FPS trends such as enhanced mobility, no fast 'zippy' movement, has brilliant particle effects and massive explosions, a weapons sandbox where almost all weapons have their place, and a fun community vibe.
Super cool deep dive into it. I basically never buy triple-A games anymore. They usually cost more, they call price-gouging people "innovation", and there's no soul. Everything is quite the opposite with Indie games
Hell Divers 2 is the only game I have ever played where once you purchase a warbond (battle-pass) you get to keep it forever, there is no end dates or countdown timer or anything like that, you finish your warbonds at your own pace.
Yeah, I actually spend and upgrade the game to deluxe edition after playing it for 20hrs, cuz I was having a blast and it revived my hype for gaming, last time was L4D2 then MHW, and now this
Me and my friends from years ago split up and we have not talked to each other in years. And recently almost all of them came back just to play helldivers, and its just like old times. That alone will make me always remember this game
Great video help spread that Democracy! What I love about Helldivers 2 is how intense each battle can get every time you drop and how each planet has its own set of environmental challenges that can impact your gameplay.
The helldivers experience is the exact same as the edf experience, both games have you going “you seeing that carpet of giant ants? Eh, send in a carpet bombing and maybe they’ll all disappea- oop there goes tommy flying across the map”
HD2 also is so much fun because suddenly you're met by something new, something that has only been hinted at and then BOOM!, it's there. No "on the 4th of whatever something whatever is coming!". They just add something cool to the maps. That keeps the players invested with fomo!
id like to add there is no way to skip tiers in the war bonds you HAVE to go out and play they are generous at times with medals so you can buy every warbond with SC but you cant spend 100 super credits to skip a tier so youll never see a level 3 dripped out to the max with a las 16, grenade pistol and stuns
The game force you play And the game is fun So it is nothing But COD The game is forcing you to GRIND Play the same shit every times Battle pass only can get by GRINDING the game If you dont want to grind the you can PAY for the shit Unlike HD2 they just five you the token by liberate the plannet Also you can get it in the game
I haven’t played a COD game in years. The crazy celebrity stuff and pay to win crap made me just want to get away. But then Helldivers 2 dropped and all the reviewers were saying stuff like “Game of the Year” or “Awesome multiplayer experience”. Not to mention this game is a love letter to Starship Troopers and Terminator. It’s a great game and I haven’t had this much fun with random people in years.

Same exact passives as ones you unlock naturally playing the game. No pay to win. I enjoyed this process so much I actually upgraded to the Super Citizen edition BECAUSE I WANTED TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPERS!!

You don’t actually have to spend $10 on the new warbond as you can get the credits in game. Therefore any warbond can be purchased with in game currency and you don’t have to spend any cash on getting any warbonds.
@lAMDEWAN damn.....I admire your conviction to replying to the comments. More than 90% of the comments have you on the reply section. Bravo
I love how successful helldiver 2 is even when no one stream it I twitch etc. Its pure funny gameplay with your friends
It really is pure fun
Dude, I’ve met a couple of cool people in this game. It feels wholesome because it’s an us vs them mentality. It’s awesome.
It really is
Recently bought helldivers after seeing my friends all playing it. At first I was just thinking it wasn’t for me, but then I finally convinced myself to buy the game because my friends were playing it nonstop. After only playing for 4 hours I bought the super citizen pack. That should tell you how good the game is.
Awesome story man haha it shows how good the game is for sure
I stand with Helldivers 2 so much that I've bought it for my brother and a friend just to play this with them. My brother, who was reluctant to even play it, is starting to play more and more often.
It’s THAT game 🙌
The fact this sequel follows the first title that was isometric and what we got was this awesome third person shooter, is astounding.
Astounding to say the least 🙌
"progression not depression" hits hard
Hell ye
"I feel like I am fighting the Call of Duty Devs, There are probably about 3000 of them." I LoL'd.
Can’t lie though, it DOES resemble Activision just a bit 😂
I think HD2 succeeds for multiple reasons, one of which is it doesn't follow FPS trends such as enhanced mobility, no fast 'zippy' movement, has brilliant particle effects and massive explosions, a weapons sandbox where almost all weapons have their place, and a fun community vibe.
Yup FUN is the word I think of when I think of HD2
And friendly fire
The only good games I've played with said "zippy" and fast movement are boomer shooters. And ultrakill
God, i love the slower movement in HD2. Im so sick of all the fast-paced pvp twitch shooters. Pvp is just way over represented in the market imo.
Super cool deep dive into it. I basically never buy triple-A games anymore. They usually cost more, they call price-gouging people "innovation", and there's no soul. Everything is quite the opposite with Indie games
It’s the complete opposite
Hell Divers 2 is the only game I have ever played where once you purchase a warbond (battle-pass) you get to keep it forever, there is no end dates or countdown timer or anything like that, you finish your warbonds at your own pace.
Yeah, I actually spend and upgrade the game to deluxe edition after playing it for 20hrs, cuz I was having a blast and it revived my hype for gaming, last time was L4D2 then MHW, and now this
This will definitely revive your mp experience
Me and my friends from years ago split up and we have not talked to each other in years. And recently almost all of them came back just to play helldivers, and its just like old times. That alone will make me always remember this game
It makes new memories!! 🙌
Great video help spread that Democracy!
What I love about Helldivers 2 is how intense each battle can get every time you drop and how each planet has its own set of environmental challenges that can impact your gameplay.
Thank you sir! You’re 100% right, the game keeps things fresh and wants you coming back for more.
The helldivers experience is the exact same as the edf experience, both games have you going “you seeing that carpet of giant ants? Eh, send in a carpet bombing and maybe they’ll all disappea- oop there goes tommy flying across the map”
One big thing everyone forgets, you can farm the MTX currency in Helldivers 2 and that pretty fast.
^^
HD2 also is so much fun because suddenly you're met by something new, something that has only been hinted at and then BOOM!, it's there. No "on the 4th of whatever something whatever is coming!". They just add something cool to the maps. That keeps the players invested with fomo!
100%! It keeps the game fresh
id like to add there is no way to skip tiers in the war bonds you HAVE to go out and play they are generous at times with medals so you can buy every warbond with SC but you cant spend 100 super credits to skip a tier so youll never see a level 3 dripped out to the max with a las 16, grenade pistol and stuns
Yup it encourages you to play more
The game force you play
And the game is fun
So it is nothing
But COD
The game is forcing you to GRIND
Play the same shit every times
Battle pass only can get by GRINDING the game
If you dont want to grind the you can PAY for the shit
Unlike HD2 they just five you the token by liberate the plannet
Also you can get it in the game
Palworld and Helldivers 2 devs just seem far more human, and wholesome actually encouraging their playerbase to be normal and have a good time
Repeat after me, do not go public, do not get bought out. That is all from your Democracy officer.
Very good point, such a great game. Great time on a social game 👍
70 hours and level 55. Bought this game last week on friday (did not play that weekend) yeah. I'm in love with this game.
Masterpiece
Did you take a week off? cuz that's a fuckton! LOL
The only thing I dislike about hell divers 2 is the friendly fire ,but it makes the game that more immersive that it makes it hard to hate
Love that the devs don't treat their players like annoying children, and rather respect the people that give them their money
yeah they know their game isnt perfect have many bugs but they are working all the time to fix them
There's some toxicity still. I just bought it, and my first game some dude was like, "You suck, quit playing." 😅
LOL damn the fight for democracy is REAL
What a sad, sad person to tell a level 1 player to "quit playing", instead of giving them some advice or just shutting the fuck up and finding a new lobby if they can't bother playing with someone new. Hope you came across players that are what the majority of the community is, friendly and helpful.
u can still get super credit during in liberate planet if u explore enough during objectives or whatever u can get super credits while in missions
Yup plenty of ways to progress
The music when you dive, never gets old 😍
Never does 😍😍
