This 1911 is so slept on. It’s extremely well made, great finish, great machining/fitment at an insane price! I have the 45 and everyday I love it more. The only issue was the main spring bore and plunger were rough making the hammer crunchy when cocking. I sanded the bore and plunger, added a little gun grease and now it’s smooth as butter.

@@vandidandi and they function ok? I ask because on forums they say the aluminum frame takes a beating from the steel slide. I’m relatively new to the 1911 platform. Many old school types just don’t want to change what isn’t broken. I get that. But a alloy frame has its advantages. Although I don’t feel bothered by the weight of a all steel gun.

I've always liked the way the Commander size pistols feel and balance in the hand. I've carried a full-size 1911 as a duty pistol before and the 1911 platform just FITS. I have an RIA Commander sized .45 but with a steel frame. I bought it as a retirement gift to myself and have been slowly doing some light customizing on it. However, with the steel frame that otherwise excellent pistol is heavy; only one ounce lighter than my 3" .44 magnum wheelgun! This TIsas, with the aluminum frame (I think total weight is just shy of 1.7 pounds?) seems just the ticket. Great review! Keep 'em coming!

The 9mm is lighter, smoother. and much easier to control if that is important to you :) Otherwise they look identical :)

As a note,1911's don't need bi-lateral controls. The left index finger can run the gun. Being a "NorthPaw",I practice using the left side just in case my right hand is incapacitated. The sainted John Moses Browning was truly a brilliant designer.

    • @Gunblastdotcom
      @Gunblastdotcom  ปีที่แล้ว

My brother Jeff was a Southpaw. An ambi safety was important for him, but he did just fine running the mag release and slide release with his left hand. He actually preferred right-handed rifles, especially bolt guns.

I just purchased a Stingray a few days ago. They now come with two 9 round magazines. Because I had seen other people received 10 rounders I questioned Tisas about it. Tisas confirmed that they come with 9 rnd mags now. I was a bit disappointed in that. Also the trigger pull weight on my gun was measured with a Wheeler gauge at 4 lbs 6 oz average across five pulls.

I would agree with you on the magazine disconnect, only positive I can come up with to have one, if you got into a situation where you were wrestling to keep the gun and felt you were losing you might be able to hit the mag release and render it useless for the guy taking it from you, but ideally they wouldn't get that close to begin with.

Bouge, correct me if Im wrong ;but just watching your ejections I'm guessing this pistol LOVES hot rounds. Even though your practice ammo cycled perfectly , all the defense rounds seemed to eject with force far and away while a couple of practice rounds empty casings came back towards you. Nothing wrong with that in IMHO defense guns should be made to shoot defense ammo.

    • @Gunblastdotcom

My tisas M45 carry was ok for about the first 100 rounds. By the time mine hit 200 rounds it won’t eject (stove pipe), it won’t chamber a round or it’ll double feed, it won’t go into battery.
All within the same 7-10 round magazine.
I’ve used 4 different chip McCormick power 10 mags
3 different chip McCormick power 10+ mags
    Mecgar 8 round mag
    Ed brown 7 round mag
    Ed brown 8 round mag
    Wilson combat 7 round mag
Tisas won’t ever get through any one of those mags without several failures. The only thing I was told “we only warranty the firearm for 12 months after you purchased it”.
Total piece of trash!!! Tisas makes garbage. I’ve had it cleaned professionally twice because I didn’t want to give them any excuse to refuse warranty. After I presented the receipts and video showing it was fine for the first couple months they came back with “have it cleaned professionally” so I did. Same issues and contacted them. Then was told “well there is a break in period. Put more rounds through it”. So I did, same issues. Then came back to them and they said “have it professionally cleaned AGAIN”. So I did. Then I attempted to put another box through it. Same issue. Then it was them responding very slowly and finally saying “what ammo did you use?” I told them Winchester white box 230 grain, pmc bronze 230 grain, PMC bronze 185gr jhp, Winchester silver tip 185 grain, Remington UMC 230 grain. By then a year had elapsed and I got the “we only warranty firearms for 12 months.
I’d been speaking to them for over 3 months. They were stalling so the year would pass and they didn’t have to warranty it anymore. I’ve purposely and will continue to purposely stop anyone from buying Tisas 1911’s and I’ve gladly sent each person my correspondence with sds imports (tisas’s importer) and I’ve saved a couple dozen people already. I’ll continue attempting to save people. I’m not dropping more cash into a piece of junk. The firearm didn’t cost enough to warrant putting more than it’s worth into it for work to be done.

You clearly have an extractor issue.
More than likely just needs retentioning.
Who cleaned that gun? Odd they did not help
      You.
This is basic 101 gunsmith stuff on a 100 plus year old design.

I learn a trick on how to get 45 ACP at a cheep price. Some gun shops at around May have inventory sales were they have too much inventory and they sell it cheep to cut down their inventory

Thanks for the review, I just bought one based on your thoughts. Do you happen to know anything about grips and model numbers for grips? I went to Amazon and typed in bobtail grips... some came up but had some kind of relief for a screw. I'm not at all familiar with which or what grip will be made for these. Thx

The feed ramp is integral to the barrel.
