FYI; you definetly don't need an amp for the 80 Ohms version. I've had those for more than 10 years and used them in phones, laptops, Roland drums, recording interfaces, guitar pedalboards, planes, etc... I usually turn on the volume at 60% and that's good enough for me.
Thank you, brother. So, if I purchase the 80 Ohms version and plug it in directly to the Akai MPC One, I should be fine and not need to purchase an amp or audio interface? Thank you kindly. Blessings!
if you are a sound engineer or do alot of audio mixing, then 250 ohm is the way to go. I got the 80 ohm and was slightly disappointed, because when i was trying to mix my kick drums the low end would not be accurate to the actual sound. Just something to keep in mind.
@@nope7389 probably none. Go for something with lots of bass and very clear highs. Most berydynamic headphones are not super enjoyable for listening, because the all the frequencies are very balanced hence the reason they are good for mixing. Great and clear explanation. Very useful to everyone. God bless. I am using DT. 80 oms, Focusrits sound card with headphone amp for programming and mixing. Without headphones amp it's not fullfil my listening.
Why is 250 Ohm better for critical listening? What can higher impedance do or quality provide that lower impedance cant? Like what is the quality difference do you hear in the 250 vs 80 ohm?? All three headphones are the same price currently on Amazon in the US right now. But higher ohm doesn't necessarily mean better...?
what i have heard is this. often high end audio gear have parts that take lot of Voltage and in those situation the headphone with low impedence like 32 ohm often hear distortion or might even get permenantly damaged. high impedence can handle more V which comes with some high end studio equipments. so if you do end up using 250 ohm, you require something good to drive it so it ends up sounding better also without distortion.
Higher impedance headphones require more voltage. This is a good thing when you're mixing because the sound will have more "headroom" as they call it. It basically means that the signal won't compress easily and introduce fuzz / distortion when it's not supposed to. This "flatter" response means that the sound you're hearing is more neutral, which is great for mixing, because you want to mix from a neutral standpoint, not a standpoint from which the sound is already "colored" (too much/little bass/highs/mids).
I drive the DT770 Pro 80 Ohms straight from my motherboard "asus Croshair VIII formulla" and i don't even have it at max volume {around 40%} with the Audio boost {realtek console} at performance modus. Yes, that's because the host says that I order to "power up" the 250 ohm's one needs an amplifier. Is your point that one can still use the 250s's to use on an ipad/mobile phone? Thank you.
@@irmasanchez5274 , neither a phone nor an iPad can get enough out of the 250 for it to be worth the price. You would absolutely need an amplifier capable of driving them. Otherwise, you might as well be using something much cheaper.
Simple like this, based on what i have: 770pro 250ohm powered from STX II - set amplifier for 600omh and your in :) What to do with native 600 ohm with STX II - to low.
TL;DR, more ohms = less interference & less volume. The more power a headphone requires, the more it scales down low power interference. More ohms also means a wider voltage range your amp gets to play with. But a lot of cheap amps themselves will start to distort after a certain volume (voltage gain). I would say just find an impedance where comfortable all day listening is 50% volume, and you’ll get the best of both worlds with some headroom to turn it up once in a while.
