    This is very well done. I spend most of my time swearing at youtube videos about car repairs because they talk for 10 minutes before they start and then don't explain what they said they would explain.

    fantastic video. I have a 3100 SFI Malibu, and this tutorial helped me out a lot. Although some parts on my car were a little different than the engine you were working on, I was able to gather all the steps I needed to replace my faulty fuel injector. Now my misfire is fixed, and my car will pass emissions. THANK YOU

    Actually it's applicable to any GM vehicle with the 3.4L, or even 3.1L motors since they are very similar in design for this kind of service.

    I have a misfire code P0302; it misfires at idle, no load high rpm, and under load. Pulling all other plug wires nearly stalls the engine, but pulling number two there is no change. I put in new plugs and wires, and I swapped coil packs around. Compression test ranges from 118 to 122 psi with cylinder two is the highest. I swapped fuel injectors around and installed new upper plenum gaskets. Sprayed starting fluid all around the intake manifold. Misfire still there and consistent on cylinder two. Nothing is telling me what is the problem. What is the problem? Can anyone give me more ideas?

  • @Haris122
    @Haris122 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    How did you guys get the fuel rail loosened enough to easily remove the fuel injectors that are closest towards the right side where the two pipes lead downward, if you don't mind me asking? Btw, thanks, very helpful video.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Haris122 Thank you for checking us out. Once the surrounding bolts are loosened you may use a pry bar to help move the fuel rail out of the way to get the injectors removed. 1aauto.com

    • @Haris122
      @Haris122 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I meant after that actually. I had trouble because of the pipes/lines going to the fuel rail not giving me much play towards injectors 5 and 6 to take them out, since they were secured someplace below. I mean I couldn't lift the fuel rail as high as you guys were able to. But in the end I got it out still. Thanks again for the helpful video.

  • @thematthatter13

    I have a 2000 3.4l grand am. I am getting a p0201 code. I have changed all the spark plugs and wires (about a month ago prior to this comment) But I have not changed the coil packs. Do you guys think I need to change my first fuel injector? If that is a yes, since I will already be in the engine I might as well change all the fuel injectors.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matt Tomshe That code points to a cylinder 1 miss fire. You might want to try changing the coil packs. A lot of times a coil will go bad and then foul a couple of spark plugs. We carry replacement coil packs for your vehicle. Here is a link to them. Hope this helps you out goo.gl/spqFpL

    • @thematthatter13
      @thematthatter13 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much @1A auto. I did some more research both today and last night after this video. Today during my fill up I added some SeaFoam and I plan on replacing the coil pack and the wire for Spark plug 1. I have had to pull the wire off a decent amount the past couple of weeks for various tests. Thank you very much again.

  • @fernesal
    @fernesal 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 1996 Grand Am 3.1 And it throws a code about cilinder 2 misfiring. I changed the coil pack for that cilinder, the sparkplug, and the cable. But it keeps misfiring that cilinder. Now I'm blaming the fuel injector. What do you think? It's a pain in the butt to change them. Should it be the fuel injector?

    • @ryanthedolphin
      @ryanthedolphin 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use seafoam, could be a dirty injector and that might help. But it sounds like its a fuel injector probelm. I would change the rest of the coils and spark plugs and all fuel injectors if you can

    Whenever working with the fuel system, the negative ground on the battery should be disconnected prior to starting the job. Also there is never anything wrong with refilling with fresh coolant - especially the green stuff who's anti corrosive properties diminish after only 2 years for aluminum engines.

    Hi there 1A Auto! I was just curious - did you replace all the fuel injectors on this particular Grand Am GT? Because from what I've learned, if your going to replace one fuel injector, you might as well replace them all. If you run the car with only one new fuel injector and the others not up the same performance, it can cause MANY problems down the road. So did you guys? Thanks!

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      lexmarks567 Perhaps, but generic stuff tends to crap out after a short time. And considering whats involved in getting to the injectors in a 3.4l, it's overall better to buy OEM.

      Probably you put the spark plug wires in the wrong order or maybe you forgot to reconnect some wires that goes to the fuel injectors And finally check all the hoses and make sure they’re all connected back in place.
      I hope this will help you

  • @paulepling

    at 3:34 and 3:57, what hoses are those?

  • @joshcruz7912
    @joshcruz7912 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Someone plzzzz help ! @ 1:23 he disconnected a hose...what is the name for this hose? I have a 2005 Chevy equinox basically the same build as this vehicle...the problem I'm having is sometimes ,randomly, this rubber piece on this hose comes off and make my car jerk when my foot is on the brake and I'm in drive...when I put the rubber hose back on The car idles correctly. The only thing I can guess is it has to do with the gas line...

    • @SlimeyEel
      @SlimeyEel 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hose is connected to the PCV valve. The Primary Crankcase Ventilation valve is the little piece that goes into the valve cover. It's purpose is to use engine vacuum to burn the vapors and gases that are produced in the engine while it's running. If the valve comes out of the Valve Cover, then you essentially have a vacuum leak in your engine that the engine cannot compensate for..
      Replace the rubber grommet that the valve goes into on the valve cover should solve your problem.

    • @am529
      @am529 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the PCV valve hose. When it comes disconnected it causes a relatively large vacuum leak.
      You might have to put a zip tie or similar around the bottom of the rubber piece to keep it from popping off. That's what I did on my sister's car.

      There's hardly any pressure in the line when the vehicle is off. As soon as the system is open to air about a pint or less of unpressurized fuel will just leak out and evaporate, no biggie.
