If only all car repair videos on TH-cam were this concise and to the point! I'm a 30+ year mechanic here and I sometimes do it this way myself. But being an old guy, I don't make videos. Glad folks like AliMECH do! Great video from the standpoint of information and camera work alike.
This video is just pure gold -- easy instructions, clear visuals and no unnecessary info or babbling. Thank you so much! My car is too old (Hyundai Accent X3, 1995) and I can't get any new injectors (for a reasonable price), so this really helped me out!
I owned a used car lot for several years and cleaned many injectors, but I did it a more compilated way. I used a phone charger for my power source and I would fill the injestor with carb cleaner, but when I touched the electrical terminal I would also hit it with some air pressure (60psi) with my air hose with a nozzle tip. It worked fine, but your way is easier. I like to see this sort of thing. When I was doing this at my used car lot there was a man who worked at the local Auto Zone who owned a EXXON staion for many years and he said injectors can't be cleaned, you must replace them. Well, you and I know better. Thank you for sharing.
Brilliant video ! - just saved me a fortune in garage repair bills (local garage quoted £1375.00 to fix this exact problem ! !) . . Thank you so much 😀
I rigged up a fuel injector test bench at home, using an existing plastic laundry sink, 12 VDC fuel pump, V-8 fuel rail, and injector harness. The later two from the junkyard. I capture the flow from each injector in glass jar and weigh them (minus empty weigh of each). Run it off a car battery, with a switch for the pump and for the injector. The main check is that they have matched flowrates. That is a critical assumption for the engine controller since only a single O2 sensor usually adjusts the mixed O/F from all the cylinders. Can also judge the spray pattern as here. I replace the screen and O-rings, as show here (inexpensive kits on ebay). I haven't noticed any degradation even the first time tested in my cars w/ 250K miles, nor any debris in the inlet screens. There are only 2 basic form factors for injectors in U.S. cars over the years and 2 connectors. I have an adapter set for the connectors on newer "pencil-style" injectors. The tops clip the same to the fuel rail.
Thank you for this video on cleaning fuel injectors. That's what I like -- simple and effective. This is the best and simplest method I've seen for cleaning fuel injectors. You get straight to the point. I like that. Thanks again.
I know this comment is incredibly late, but... Pulled my injectors out today. Rigged up a similar contraption to this one. Cleaned the injectors (took like, 5-10 minutes after the contraption was rigged), put the injectors back on the rail and put it all together. For a complete newbie (my first time ever removing a fuel rail and injector cleaning), it took me and a buddy maybe an hour to do. Next time, i can easily do it in 20-30 minutes, I'm sure. Thanks for the video, man.
Thank you Brother you have saved me a lot of money from a dishonest repair shop. I truly appreciate people like you.this is absolutely the best explaining video on TH-cam ..you have gained another subscriber ... Peace to you Friend👍👍
For even better cleaning effects you should also apply the cleaner from the side of the nozzle. It helps removing dirt which is stuck inside the injector but which is too big to go out through the nozzle.
Very helpful video and straightforward. I would only add you should prime the fuel rail to get rid of any air pockets after cleaning. This is easily done by removing the main HT (sparkplug) wire and turn over the engine (starter) for a few seconds
@@AS-pu7gj No, the process does not inject any fuel or activate the injectors. This process is often referred to as "priming" the fuel system and has the effect of filling and pressurizing the fuel rail. Air remaining in the system becomes compressed by fuel pressure and naturally locates itself at the highest possible point since gasses (air) are less dense than liquids (fuel). Starting the vehicle activates the injectors as normal and the remaining air is expelled into the motor by normal operation. Performing this procedure should result in normal to slightly extended cranking times. Diesels and direct injection motors with metal lines branching off of a common rail tend to require more cranking time than vehicles with injectors directly mounted on a fuel rail and is normal. God bless brother 🙏🙌✝️😁
Great video. Been running the stp cleaner through the engine and there is improvement in my misfire but for a 24 year old car im sure my injectors will be much dirtier than your 2017.
You shouldn't need to lube port injectors. But, if you have to for some reason, use transmission assembly grease. Don't use anything else. Its the safest way to go, by far. For the spark plug holes, use a thread chaser. You can get one that's made to be used on spark plug threads. Any auto parts store should stock them. But you need to be careful. Its very easy to strip the threads on an AL head. Get a small piece of rubber fuel line. Attach a spark plug to one end, and use that to get them started. Once you are sure that the plug is going in properly, you can then use a socket to finish tightening them.
Good job: That was an awesome video, I have 280k miles on my Jeep and will try this since it needs a lot of work and I know that some dust got past the air filter.
