Real ID compliance does not always mean there will be a star in the corner of your driver's license. WA State is one such example where as long as you have the "Enhanced Driver's License", then you're Real ID compliant

I’m a frequent flyer, and in my observation both U.S. and foreign carriers let passengers bring everything but the proverbial kitchen sink onboard. I’ve asked gate staff why the rules aren’t enforced and been told that passengers become hostile and confrontational. ETIAS will not launch in the 2nd quarter of 2025, if at all in 2025. EES has to be in effect for about 6 months before ETIAS can go into effect. And EES has been delayed, with no new start date announced yet. The Netherlands, France and Germany are major international hubs and they are not ready. And from what I've read, when ETIAS does go into effect, there will be a 6 month grace transition period. Do your research. Don't take my word for it. If there is a grace period, act like there's not a grace period and get your ETIAS approval anyway. Also, the UK has an authorization you need to get, which starts next week. Even if you go there just to catch a connecting flight, your will still need it. It's called the ETA UK, or something like that. Again, if ETIAS goes into effect this year, it'll be in the 2nd half of 2025.

It is my understanding from the UK gov website you would need the ETA even flying through the UK (layover). The UK is not part of Shengen. So, if you fly to Europe with a layover in London….you’d need ETA and etias (once it’s live)to fly to your final destination…say, Munich.

I like it when the family can sit together. I wonder if the enforcement directly impacts single travelers who can be shuttled away to horrid seats or bumped off the plane to accommodate family seating, especially those who don't plan ahead and book appropriately. Funnily though, this has never been a problem when a family plans and books appropriately and is not entitled. Would it be better to enforce parental responsibility to book seats together?

    • @nogames8982

Your drivers license is not valid except from the issuing state. And you are subject to being arrested and or prosecuted for driving without a valid license without real ID. It is much more than just travel. Check with your local DMV.

Hi. In 2025, TSA allows insulin and related diabetic supplies in both carry-on and checked baggage, exempt from the 3.4-ounce liquid limit. It’s important to inform TSA officers at security, keep insulin in its original packaging, and request a pat-down for insulin pumps or CGMs. For smoother screening, carrying a doctor’s note is recommended.

Medicines cannot stay in the original container. I bring over 15 different medicines and vitamins wherever I go. Bringing original containers would mean I have to have a separate bag just for that. It is ridiculous. I have always traveled with a couple of small pill boxes, one is for the usual medicines like pain medicine, acid reflux, antiallergy, etc. The other box has my prescription medicines and vitamins. What I do every time I travel is I take an updated picture of all the containers with one pill next to each showing the size, shape and color while also showing the name on the container and prescription information. If the government stops me from flying or worse, confiscates my pills, I will sue them for over a million dollars.
