I have a BYD in China, and one day I had a whim to make the co-pilot's girlfriend happy, so I said to the voice assistant "eject the co-pilot", but I didn't expect it to open the sunroof. At that moment, I was shocked and laughed wildly with my girlfriend
Most car reviewers complain about lack of physical buttons. Almost none of them have a clue of modern voice assistants. I for one prefer use voice assistants, with a button on the steering wheel, over reaching to buttons.
Very good point. Focus is currently all on touch vs. physical buttons discussion. I suspect that voice assistants will make a big leap forward when they integrate more versatile conversational AI into them, probably happening within a year already. But already now BYD Assistant is a pretty nice feature and with plenty of untapped potential.
Dude, your videos are over the top! I love it. Great video, I hate voice controls with a passion, but they can be useful when driving for GPS navigation
You put chat GP in these cars and we will be having conversations on the way to places. Cars will communicate with each other maybe a BYD twenty miles ahead telling your car there has been a accident, heavy rain, traffic jam, debris on the road. It still looks very basic but the fact it understands what your saying is impressive. But let’s never forget by the time you have said the command you’d have done it with a knob or button within seconds.
The idea of generative AI -enabled voice assistant is a fascinating one, and probably will soon be reality. Current BYD Assistant is still relatively simple compared to the conversational capabilities of ChatGPT or similar services. Just out of curiosity, what kind of discussions would you (everyone) have with a ChatGPT type of voice assistant in the car? What would you ask from it, how would you use it?
Sure, in the app menu there is a folder called "Utility tools", select "File Manager" from there and then the data source where your wallpaper image file is located (usb, sd). When you open the image file it gives you the option to add image as a wallpaper. I could perhaps make a brief video of this + related settings.
Hi, I liked very much your video. It was very fun that humour about mother-in-law. I would like to ask you something about the colour of the car, if I may. Do you have or do know any link of a video showing the combination of the exterior "Atlantis Grey" colour with the interior "Ice Blue" colour? I'm curious to see how does it blend together. In my country, except the "Ice Blue" which is standard, all the other exterior colours like "Atlantis Grey", "Polar White", "Space Black", "Indigo Grey" and the "Shadow Green" have an extra cost, which I find hard to understand since in some countries most of them came from standard among with the "Ice Blue", By the way, which version of the software is your's infortainment car? Thank you, keep posting. All the best.
Thanks for the comment! I have the Atlantis Grey + Tahiti Blue, which I think looks fantastic. On my videos there isn't much content (yet) which focused on the appearance of this combination, but I could consider adding some footage like that. I need to double check the infotainment version but I believe I'm still on 23XX and not yet 24XX as the OTA updates haven't yet started here in Finland, as far as I know.
I am afraid not. This would be a great customization option, but I guess the effective hot word detection requires quite a bit of effort from the software, so not so straightforward to change it.
Good news and bad news: the voice control of BYD is relatively worse among Chinese EV makers. For example, Xpeng has far better voice control than this, you don't even need to say the activate prompt and the car will detect the meaningful command automatically.
That’s interesting. Of course something like that can be perceived both as a benefit or a drawback…e.g. myself, I like the voice assistant feature, but also like to be clearly in control to activate it or not. So too proactive or automatic approach is not necessarily better, in my opinion. But surely this is an area that almost all manufacturers are looking into or considering. E.g. Alfa Romeo just releaded their first EV and quite visibly promote the ChatGPT-enabled voice assistant.

@@OwlCompass Great one 😂 thanks for sharing!
And thank you for your tutorial. Surely will help me with my new ATTO 3.
One of the fun commands I stumbled across was "Hi BYD....My bum is hot" "OK....Turning on Seat Ventilation"😊
Nice one! I'm sure there are many more to discover, it is actually a kind of a "easter egg" to find (as it's not documented anywhere)

thanks! nice to hear you liked it
I really like the screen wallpaper, where can I download it? Thank you
I'd like to get a copy too.
Thanks for the comment! I could make it available for download somewhere, perhaps with some alternative wallpaper designs included.
Thanks for a great video. Fortunately, I like my mother in law, so wont need the ejector seat command 😉
You never know, it may come handy one day... 😅
I love the intro song!! Where can I get the full version?
It's pretty catchy, isn't it? 😁 I've promised to release the soundtracks at some point, hopefully soon!

Regarding steering wheel heating - you can just say “my hands are cold”. As well as you can say “my ass is cold” for seat heating.
Awesome!
Also trying to trying to add a custom wallpaper and can only get the ones provided by BYD, is there a walkthrough on how to do this?

@@ElectricSeal-bq5wu Sweet thank you
Can you share your wallpaper, it is really great!
@@valentijn383 Great to hear, I'll make it available for subscribers to download, but it requires a bit of finetuning first.
Sounds great, looking forward to it!
Next time, please try these, "Hi BYD....open the airbag","Hi BYD....open seat ejection","Hi BYD....open the battery self destruct program" 😜
Tried the seat ejection already 😁 For the battery one, I susoect it would just calmly state that ”sorry - this is Blade LFP”

Thank you

@@ElectricSeal-bq5wuok. Thanks for taking the time to reply 🙏
so, the new BYD atto 3 (2024) has seat ventilation???
Not sure about that. The Seal has it, hopefully Atto 3 will too.
Hi does your nfc card unlock the car after its been parked and locked for over half and hour?
It does, though I've only used it a few times so far. The card needs to be in the exact right location, it's quite picky on that.
@@ElectricSeal-bq5wu Incase you don't know. Don't sit it on the wireless charger. Kills the card. I found out the hard way
Hi there, I like your opening song. May I know the title 😂😂😂
Thanks! The song is part of the Electric Seal soundtrack and is called just "Voice Command".

Dislike because of the clickbait thumbnail picture
Sorry to hear that, but thanks for the feedback
I rekon its hilarious 😂😂.
You can try to say "hi, byd, explode please "or ‘hi, byd, Eject airbags.“
Thanks, I need to try these out!
