Hi. You can turn off the startup sound by clicking Vehicle Settings -> Intelligent Reminders -> Vehicle Prompt Sound Source -> change from Brand to Standard. The left and right turning sound will be standard as well. The labels may not be exactly same in Seal, but all BYD cars should be similar. 😄

The indicator sound. Is and option, you csn just choose another. The stereo needs another setup, heard it tuned right. The sound was amazing. You can set the adas up so you just need one setting on start up, to turn off. Sounds to .e that you haven't bother to set the car up right.

THANK you for this. This car is just about to launch here in Malaysia and I've pretty much decided on this over the Tesla M3, but these annoying software tics and dings really didn't help with that decision. I'd do this on the first day, but does it turn cruise control completely off? I tend to use that quite a bit on a day to day.

I haven't gotten the car yet (early next year), but sat in one and played around with the settings a bit. From memory there is a swipe down option from the top of the screen that has quick commands. I think you can turn off all those ADAS things there if you preset it. Might be wrong though, only played around with it for 10 mins.

Problem is if you have to disable the annoying ADAS features every time you start the car. That's said, there are only two things that need to be disabled, not everything that was shown in the video. And apart from this being very annoying, the issue with with disabling things is that you are also not benefiting from these potential safety features. Apart from your Disney Soundtracks, this is exactly my gripe with the VAG's MEB platform of electric vehicles as well. In my case, the Q4 e-Tron, but all the MEBs are like this. To disable specifically the lane holder, I need to press and hold the button at the end of the _wiper_ handle for no less than four seconds. Personally, I will not even attempt to reverse engineer anything. I will simply add some electronics to the steering column to emulate press and hold of this button at every startup.
Caveat Emptor - I have not truly researched this, but rumors are that EU directives now dictates that _if_ the vehicle is equipped with ADAS, it _shall_ be activated on each and every start-up of the vehicle. And it _shall_ be a PITA to disable. What is more easily confirmed is that eCall became mandatory on 31 March 2018, and «Intelligent speed "assistance"» plus «Reversing detection with camera or sensors» and «(Driver) Attention warning» became mandatory on 1. January 2024.
As is «Event Data Recorder (EDR)» aka. "Black Box" by Amendment 160 to Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2019/2144. They also mandated some «Alcohol interlock installation _facilitation_» for good measure. More to be progressively introduced on the roadmap up until 2029.
Additionally, remember that the design criteria for the EU Galileo GNSS navigation system was that is should be precise enough to facilitate virtual toll roads.
Oh btw, automotive Cybersecurity measures to stop reverse engineering from occurring is now also mandatory. There went your Right to Repair, by courtesy of the EU Council…

They all complain if you change lanes without indicating, but they don't try to force the car back in the lane when you turn the wheel past a certain point.
They will gently turn the wheel when the car gets too close to the edge, to center the car, but will not interfere with an active lane change or emergency swerve, even without indicating.

You should be able to leave the speed sign reading, but turn off the alert. That way you can always glance and know what speed you should be doing.
You can change the indicator noise to traditional blinker easy enough on Atto 3, I assume on that too. Which also deletes the start up noise.

It seems these ADAS systems become mandatory in various countries, and eg. EU made it mandatory, that they have to be switched on on every start-up. The most common solution is to mute them (luckilly they haven't forbidden it yet), but it depends on car manufacturer if this setting is saved or not.

The "feature" which attempts to keep the car in the centre of the lane is actually quite dangerous. The whole ADAS system is, in most new cars, part of the NCAP safety system. Even western cars have that nowadays to get the highest NCAP rating… the problem though is exactly like you said: it takes away control of a car where you're responsible for whatever happens anyway.
It doesn't make much sense: if the ADAS system decides that staying in a lane is more important than avoiding a bicycle, it will jog the steering wheel. If you then hit a person, you're the one going to jail for it (or get fined at least). So thanks for showing how to disable it, I'm sure it works similarly in other cars as well :)

@@wcrash9361 What you're describing is correct, but you're still talking about software. Even Tesla, which is said to have the best (ADAS) software, still makes mistakes. And in case of a near-collision you don't always use your indicator lights, not can the software always be 100% correct (bad lighting or rain can sometimes be a problem for example).
Just because the software will "do what it's supposed to do" during situations where the software will judge a situation being dangerous, that still doesn't mean that it will take the right course of action. Aside from that, if the software does make a mistake and you simply "let it do what it's supposed to do", then the drive will still be held responsible for the damages.
Your last sentence doesn't even begin to make sense. Software isn't flawless, and plenty of people prefer being in total control of the car's behavior. That has nothing to do with speeding or tailgating.

I was simply trying to merge with busy traffic and in safe manner.
The Driver coming down the road went off at me for pulling out and suddenly stopping, I had no control :/
Hopefully enough owners will write in and complain to reassess this.

People have been modding ECUs in ICE cars for decades, but it may be different in these.

More chance of that happening than Tesla 3s getting actual indicator stalks, right? :) Can't wait to see ZEEKR and Xiomi enter the field - hopefully the new competition will inspire some better, less flakey software in otherwise awesome vehicles. Great video! I have been trying to decide if the Seal is a car for me. I think the car itself is awesome, however the software is sadly awful… I took it for a testdrive and it actually tried to kill me. Two times the lane assist tried to drive me off the road😂
And then comes the noises from a Chinese cartoon…

I too test drove one and twice for me too. Lane keep kicked in when I was right in the middle of the lane, dragged the wheel quite badly. The nagging turned me away from the car. I've had a Model 3 Performance for 4 years, I shall now be testing a Highland version.

@@wcrash9361 I only related what I personally experienced, so telling me it's rubbish is, well, rubbish. The car did it for the guy in this video, and the car did it twice to me when I was dead centre in the lane. It also did it at a roundabout when the road split into 3 lanes and it got confused. The only thing I will say is that I noticed there was a software update pending, so I did wonder if the dealership should have run the update as BYD have dialled the assist systems back recently.

Brand new car and you have to pull the fuses out of the fusebox to disable ADAS lol. 😆
This is a massive pain and actually makes the car more dangerous. Car companies need to be careful, because if ADAS is found to have caused a crash, eg a potentially fatal head-on, then those companies would be liable big time.

And every time you turn on the car you get warnings about ADAS being unavailable... I would return that piece of crap, they managed to make a worse software experience than Tesla

Kind of strange, because the Seal I tested here in Europe a month ago, didnt make the weird noise at the beginning. The indicator sound was also "normal", not this strange "dingdong".
Generally speaking, I really didnt like the cluttered Dash and Screen in the middle. Its just ... too many little icons and signs everywhere.
Other than that, i really liked driving it. Felt much comfier than a Model 3 and I like the outside look more.

    • @TallPaulTech

Those custom noises for indicators and startup can be turned off. All my icons on that screen have gone since pissing off the fuses for that lethal ADAS shit, then reset Android.
