DISCLAIMER FOR GENERAL STAFF LOSS DATA
1) These are real people with real lives and real families who love them. Don’t let the numbers sap your humanity.
2) These numbers probably aren’t accurate but they’re the best we have and we don’t need them to be accurate to be indicative of patterns of activity.
3) All losses are estimates. Losses cannot be counted with accuracy because of the conditions on the ground.
4) Both sides would see it to be of their advantage to minimize their own losses maximize the other side’s losses.
5) Neither side releases their losses but we have enough transparency from the Ukrainian side to have confidence in they are indicative.
6) Personnel losses are hard to count. If a soldier gets injured, heals up, and returns to the front line only to get injured again, is that one loss or two? Also, how to deal with losses from PMC’s or soldiers fighting with RF from occupied territories?
7) Equipment losses are hard to count. If an AA complex involves several parts and one part gets disabled, is that a loss, or a fraction of a loss? If a tank gets disabled, repaired, back into the fight, then disabled again, is that one lost tank or two?
8) All recorded losses are vulnerable to multiple reporting. We have already seen numerous cases of multiple drones in the air reporting the same loss from different angles as multiple engagements.
9) Losses are not always reported on the same day they occurred. It is frequent that drone losses are reported at least 24 hours after other terrestrial equipment losses. Certain losses may not be reported for days or weeks for military intelligence reasons.

I felt proper shitty after hearing Pete was kia. The only images i could think of was him angry with the west over support, so last night i went back and watched whatever i could find of him. It just reinforced my opinion that he really cared about Ukraine and its people.
Such a big loss and hes just one of many.

He wears his emotions on his sleeve as I do, and hear about everyday. He had a smile on his face and was excited as you usually see him when we met. What a guy! The Best of us all! He will never be forgotten!

Not only his Real Blood Family, but the Huge Family he had of People that didn't even know him, other than the way I did. As a Leader of Freedom for all! As the shock and disbelief wears off, I feel even more gutted today at the loss of Pete. I keep refreshing my youtube page to see if there are any more videos about him but it feels like there is a vacuum of information regarding his passing. I will miss his passionate and powerful advocacy for Ukraine. I hope and wish and pray that somehow his story hits all the major news and in his death, his voice gets even louder. A flood of support for Project Konstantin might somehow ease the pain I'm sure many of us are feeling.
I remember this video by Pete when he it was first posted - it really stuck with me. So many more lives lost because of delays and dripfeeding by the west, there is no limit to the injustice in this war. Thanks for the video JP

Good morning, everyone. I wanted to recommend a movie that I think people might like. Cyborgs: Heroes Never Die is a Ukrainian film released in 2017. It is about the second battle of the Donetsk airport. You can find it on Amazon Prime just search for Heroes Never Die. It had a small budget, but I found the social and political conversations between the Ukranian soldiers to be very interesting. They also have very similar conversations with their captured russian and DPR prisoners. It's not just a pro-Ukraine film as the Ukrainian soldiers do make mistakes when under extreme stress. Written by Natalya Vorozhbyt. Well worth watching.

Lamenting and griping about their condition is what most soldiers are want do after any failed mission.
It has just become so much more visible with the advent of social media being able to reach everyone who bothers to go looking.
The question is whether they - while being both wounded and of low morale - will return to what they perceive as futile attacks.

Tanks. On satellite, they have fewer than 300 T-80’s left. They already went through most of their T-72’s. They might have more in garages being refurbished- but they are genuinely running out unless North Korea gives theirs.

Perhaps those days of extremely low Russian tank losses were from when they ran out of uninjured tank crews, and the more recent return to normal losses are from the decision to use injured crewmen.

I whole heartedly agree that we in the west need to step up and face the music. For far to long, we want to ignore history that has proven that dictators cannot be coddled and appeased. I'm hedging my bets on russia losing 10,000 tanks, 20,000 armoured vehicles and 20,000 artillery pieces before the end of 2024. As per personnel losses, it's feasible 750,000 could be breached before the year end though 1m is still some way to go.
Compare General Staff stats to the visual confirmations and you'll be missing 7000 tanks, 15000 armored vehicles, and about 18000 artillery pieces. Believe whatever you want.

@@tezzy5584 well, Oryx has stopped counting visually confirmed losses, September of last year, and I read that was due to the enormous amount of work counting and ensuring nothing was double counted.
If the losses are so much lower, as you suggest, why are Soviet storage facilities getting drained at unsustainable rates? Are they moving the equipment to the border of Finland? No. China? No. Where have they been going? That's right, to the scrap heap.

Storage facilities are a good thing to look at, you won't find 7000 tanks pulled out of storage and you won't find them in satellite images on the battlefield. Look at the numbers on Covert Cabal videos - you will find numbers still falling short by many thousands of what the General Staff say.
There's also the most undeniable evidence of all - the battlefield. If those General Staff figures were true the Russian military would have crumbled and collapsed long ago. If Russia lost 1000+ artillery pieces a month (often claimed by Ukraine) how would they have artillery left to use at all? You can't tell me seriously that equipment is being restored at such a fast rate that every loss is immediately replaced, including crew, etc. Doesn't add up, particularly since we know many artillery storage is primarily being stripped for barrels rather than the systems as a whole.
The answer is massive over reporting. Ukraine General Staff is exactly as credible as the Russian one. To cite those figures you have to admit that you have literally no evidence for TENS OF THOUSANDS of equipment losses. I'm going to say this again - NO EVIDENCE FOR TENS OF THOUSANDS OF LOSSES. Believe your hopium, reality will catch up eventually.

IFV's can give direct supporting fire, artillery is too often extremely unprecise...for exposed riders.
For a well-planned special mission perhaps, but it sounds a lot like a cavalry charge in WW2.

I wonder if they could not just reinforce the wing tips of the planes and use the wingtips to flip the drones rather than trying to down them with a shotgun. I don't know what the speed differential is which would affect the feasibility and the cost reward analysis.

on discussing infiltration from speedy bikes and quads, the quads drones should have more frag and claymore type munitions and several should be held in ready beside each set of defensive line/works. Further, multiple grenade or expl devices should be able to be attached for multiple drops. ie if first one doesnt complete its task there is back up ... Biggest question is how to solve the LANCET plague. We should have enough of these to dissect and find a deflection/blocker.

IMO the ebb and flow of tank attrition is mostly due to logistics :
- the attrition rate has proven to be higher than the Russians anticipated.
- because any accumulation of equipment is likely to be targeted by the Ukrainians, the staging areas will have to be located far back from the front lines.
- the front lines are extensive, making any transport of equipment time consuming and tedious.
- all of the above leads to intermittent local shortages
Of course, availability is also an issue - it is not what it used to be as stocks are dwindling.
Pressure is mounting on the Russian MIC - new production, refurbishing and repair - which has proven unreliable in the past.
This will only add to existing logistics bottlenecks.
