- Don't own anything. This took about a month to get done and almost all the memory I had left on my laptop, but it was worth it. I feel that this shows just how much I've learned in terms of making reviews and videos.
Pros: Awesome gameplay, Amazing graphics, Wonderful music, Great enviornments, good sense of humor.
Cons: Not all events are replayable, Music notes will respawn if you die or leave the world, If you had the game in the first two years it came out then you know about Stop-N-Swop.
Personal Faults: A few audio spikes but that's it.
I think "Grunty's Furnace Fun" would be an amazing real-life board game.
Maybe, a less dangerous version would work for now ;P maybe a quiz game where when someone gets a question wrong, they have to... I don't know, put cold water on theirselves? (Or the ice bucket challenge :D)
This may be the greatest platformer ever made, maybe even better than Super Mario galaxy. It took many ideas from Mario 64 and expanded upon them, and this game is just better in every single way.
I must have beaten this game upwards of 20 times when I was younger, except from the slightly boring "rusty bucket bay", I can't think of any negativ things about this game, it is close to perfection.
Banjo Kazooie is probably my favourite game ever.
The levels were all memorable, the music sublime, the humor spot-on and the levels were just the right amount of long.
Tooie expanded upon many things, the bosses were better, the transformations crazier, you could play as Jumbo, the minigames were perfect and levels were enourmous.
And that's what put me off, the levels were far too interconnected and big for my taste.
The 1st level alone has connections to 3 other levels
Personally I prefer this, but DK64 is really good too.
Thanks to hackers we know what he will say. He says something like: "I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you, and we can't have that in a game like this can we? Now try to enjoy the game with these happy thoughts in your head" or something like that.
There's really no way to activate it, it's random and you just have to hope that you get it.
@immunitytothedark Try saying "Thank you" with a tranyslvania accent.
Whenever it's ready and the time is right, that's all I have to say.
I'm on my 4th 100% run this year of this game (it does pull you back in sometimes lol) Furnace fun is where it heats up each time (literally too), especially on the Time spaces and Skull ones.
Sometimes I wish I was born around in the late 90's so I can play some of these awesome classic games, including the rare ware games.
you still can and i assure you these games are just as awesome now as they were back then :)
How do you not have, over 100k yet, I've been watching you for 2 years now and still!:(
They have returned
6:50 From watching a Playthrough of Banjo Kazooie, it actually takes 882 Music Notes to get passed all the Music Note Doors in the game. When it comes to Facing off Gruntilda at the end, I can't imagine how it would be if your Eggs and Feathers weren't at the Max, and you ran out quite fast.
+CuriousUserX90 once you get the cheats from cheato, you can enter them anytime at the sandcastle to max out the respective item even if you have already used the cheat to get double of the item, means a trip to Treasure Trove each time you need to refil though, and I usually get all the notes anyway before fighting Grunty.
They did but when they said that "Nintendo wasn't too big on people ripping cartridges out of their systems." Nintendo didn't say that or forced Rare to stop their plans. Rare cancelled it because it would limit the number of peolpe who had the new 1999 model of the N64 who then wouldn't have enough time to Swop games.
@mariogamefreak1 1.) It's when I redo a review for a game I've already reviewed but make it better.
2.) Not sure, depends on what it looked like.
3.) Please see my Forbidden Fruit 6 video.
4.) No I haven't
5.) Have you sent me your code before for Goldeneye Wii?
@soranamineforever Well to be accurate Sonic Adventure was out in Japan only but that still counts and Pokemon Yellow I believe came out in 1999 but I could be mistaken, regardless I agree with that statement.
No but it should be, even though Microsoft owns them Rare has gone on record saying it is up to Nintendo since they have some rights to the N64 version. Now if only Nintendo would take requests for the virtual console. :(
If you hatched the giant egg in the Spring time of Click Clock Wood, and fed the baby eagle in both Summer and Fall, it will grow into a big eagle in the Winter time and give you a Jiggy.
By that extent Super Mario 64 is the exact same thing. Trust me, you have to play this game to understand that it's not the same as everything else.
@immunitytothedark I put them in the review but they only say that if you think that's what they say, but you knew that already didn't you. XD
@falloutboy97100 You can collect them, but there's nothing you can do with them. You'll have to look up the codes on how to get them.
I've actually done a review for that but it was terrible so I put it under private. I'll be redoing it later this year.
I stopped using it over a year ago, but it does have fade away tricks. Try looking up fades, wipe outs, or cuts.
I had to do my best to make sure it wasn't the same as the first one, so I put in as much detail as I could find.
@soranamineforever Yeah it's a shame but it did help make 1998 one of the best years in video games, IMO.
It was pretty much dead, but that doesn't mean they couldn't have used it to show it's worth something.
Thanks, that was the only time it froze on me but it did prove to me the memory glitch in the N64's RAM.
Great Review!
Thank you. :)
It only has a few challenges. The difficulty comes from when you're trying to find all the jiggies.
@GamerLink5 That actually was supposed to resmeble that. So far your the only one who noticed that.
Thanks, the real challenge was trying to make this review as different and better than my first one.
@uzimakishadow No I agree. The skull in Tooie seemed more round while this one looked more jagged.
Thanks. :) If I can make people want to go back and replay good games again then I've done my job.
@StrawberryPirate2000 That's because it's not, I was playing and recording this off of my N64.
Ah Rare, they used to make such great games they followed you to your dreams. XD
Did you run out of air? Dying before getting all of the music notes sucks!
What happened? Don't tell me the first world was too hard for you to beat.
Thank you. :) Watching my MW's of this game will help you earn a 100%.
@Iloveminieggs I have, not what I was going for but you get the idea.
Oh split screen, I don't know how to do that in Windows Movie Maker.
@StrawberryPirate2000 Yes but you don't have to collect them again.
@musculermigit I tried... it was too boring to even try to upload.
You know what i want to do? Go buy a 64 just to play this game xD
I'm still doing reviews but I don't plan on doing one for Conker.
What would you rather see? minigames or a platforming crossover?
When you finally get enough it will be well worth it. :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks there could have been a Mario Party-style spin-off game, based on THAT part of Banjo-Kazooie. The same company did the same thing with Sonic Shuffle after all.
I'm just saying why didn't they have that as a back-up?
Hi there
Great re-review on Banjo-Kazooie ^^ Still wish I had Banjo-Tooie... But still, a awesome vid review ^^ Just wondering what other game u'll be reviewing next
Euan
@NintenToast12 Sadly I don't see that happening. :(
Freakin' love this game review! :) Now this is how you write a review :) Thank you for immortalizing Banjo Kazooie in this awesome game review man :D
I have to admit it...
I didn't enjoyed this game...
Now, don't hate on me, I have my reasons:
The gameplay felt a little stiff compared to other platformers like SM64 and Crash Bandicoot. The controls were great, but the handling was slippery and I felt like there was a little bit of delay to it...
The game in itself felt a little weird (but that's just me), but the rest was fine.
The gameplay is what turned me away from this game...
I don't know, it's just that SM64 feels so much smoother...
i never said i didnt appreciate what it did to the video game industry. i am very happy it was created and what it did. but the thing is, as a game, i couldnt care LESS about it. i just plain dont like it. sorry, but its the truth.
you know u cold just use the bluetooth in ur computer and use the wii mote as a controller i can say it does not make the game any less fun and ive played this game on everything my xbox pc mac n64 hell even my psp(don't play it on psp)
It's at the top of the beams inside the church.
no i just use an internal capture card and the only pc i have is slow so it takes awhile to render plus i decided to try and add a bit more to the review should have it up today followed soon by tooie and then nuts and bolts
It's very similar to Super Mario 64 because the game's engine has been described as the "modified Super Mario 64 engine".
@leavittboyz its not to hard just to finish it without getting everything. But if you want to get everything you will have a bit of a harder time doing it. Its not to hard but its very fun though
I agree it should be on the VC. Thank you. :)
It's possible, but not for a very long time.
The game indeed doesn't get old lol, I've got 100% on all three files (once in 2013, twice this year) on the Xbox Live arcade version and despite the fact that both my 100% completions this year were in Feb, I'm already ready to do another 100% run of the game.
Sorry, I don't have Conker's Bad Fur Day.
Maybe so, but both games are AMAZING.
This game and Donkey Kong 64 are defintely in my top 5 favorite games of all time
ur best review ever it was better put together than most sites are. better than ign's review for sure
glad you like it though I didn't much care for it. Have you tried banjo-tooie?
It would've helped the replay value.
anyone know where the grunty switch in Mad Monster Mansion is? can't find it
Sadly, no. Oh how I wish we could.
@Mariokemon Was that even english?
Yeah I found out about last year.
0:38 I wonder what he'd do if it was Tetris 99, that games given me the "One More Match" feeling more times than I can count!
I'd rather see a real crossover.
hey dude i just finished my banjo kazooie xbla review still needs to render though
I think the stop and swaps are now used for banjo nuts and bolts.
@immunitytothedark It sounded like that but it was thank you.
Im really glad that Microsoft released this for xbox.
this is the best game on on the N64 and possible on any other console
I bought a 3DS on day one.
@SNESGuy16 Currently? No.
I bought this game a while back and I didn't really like it cause I didn't really understand the point of it. Everyone says it's a masterpiece and a must have so I might give it another try, however there is one problem...when I last started the game all data was gone, so now I don't know if it just happened or if the cartridge is broken and I really, really, really don't want to buy a new copie of the game right now and I don't want to play just to get it erased again!
I have a few questions
1. What is a redo review
2. would you have bought this game if it was a rpg because it was orginally going to be an rpg.
3. If they remade this game for the 3ds would you by it because it could happen because Rare still makes games for nintendos portable console like diddy kong ds.
4.have you played any of the portable banjo kazooie game for the gameboy advance.
This is the best game ever... It's stolen so many hours of my life. I played this so much as a kid and together with my dad managed to beat the game. I have to go back and beat it again. I started over the summer but kinda got distracted on other games.
Great review though, and thanks for showing the egg secret. I never even knew about it. All I remember was worring about a sequel for a long time until I actually got it (and turned out to be awesome). Great job.
I really love Banjo-Kazooie. Even though I like Banjo-Tooie better, for some reason I've played Banjo-Kazooie more times. Last time I played it, I got almost all of the notes in the entire game. If you get enough notes, you can open up some egg and feather refill stations before the final boss, and there's even a spot where you can spend 4 Jiggies to double your maximum health. It's truly a good treat for all of that trouble.
So I don't need to complete 60 levels collecting every single note?
It looks like Rare messed up, like Ubisoft did Assassin's Creed's ending, aparantly someone at Ubisoft had the whole explaination for AC's ending on their computer, but someone deleted it and they decided to go with fan speculation, Rare seem all too happy to leave it unexplained so their fans aren't disappointed.
I mean if you found out it was to unlock a gallery, you'd be very annoyed wouldn't you?
yea i herd os stop n swap, Screwattacks VGV had more info on it
this review actulaly is the only reason i even tried banjo kazooie and im sorry to those of you who dont like language but there is only one way to say this i played the hell out of that game it was great i played on xbla but it was still the same game and the graphics made it much easier to play because it was transitioned into hd.
I heard the ice key unlocks a secret world but im not sure if its true. aparently if u find the ice key u have 2 find a 4th cheato and during the dialog grunty sayd "damn you book" and cheato tells you to type in a cheat thts called "keyhole". it opens a hole in the cub's house in Freezeezy Peak and u can enter a new world in it. its just deformed lol.
For 6000 notes I can pay Bottles to tell me the truth about Stop 'n' Swop.
Or so Rare seem to be trying to get me to play to find 6000 Musical Notes for.
I will win races by stopping my opponent, fly using a boxing glove for propulsion, heck I'll even beat the Jinjo Sumo challenges by using a giant pool cue.
I have way too much spare time. -_-
Hey guess what?
I noticed the personal faults, amazing huh?
I have Nuts and Bolts for the 360 and am stuck on the first world because... Because I can't stop screwing around for the heck of it.
There are these giant cogs you can ride up to the top of the level, I just keep riding them and trying to climb the volcano.
It failed to render huh?
I just wanna note you a thing: If Mario 64 wasn't never created,no new Mario platformers or Mario based games would exist because it wouldn't have shown Mario, one of the main villians (Bowser) and the princess Peach.
By the way, excuse my bad english,I'm spanish
This is the best review for this game i have seen on the net!
@Majoraswrath3000 YES!
8:52
Rare: You know he's right. That could had made it much more easier. Why didn't we think of that.
Sega: You know your original idea is actually the same way to get the level select in sonic 3?
Rare: That's what we were trying to do!
Haha my first game ever I love this game so much, but it had managed to traumatize me when I was younger. I made it all the way to the end of the game, but that EVIL board game would always beat me... Needless to say I beat the crap out of now >:)
I hated Ticktok Wood because of the notes, loved the level, specially the rainfall in Spring, but the notes killed it. Ended up getting EXACTLY the amount of notes needed to continue, then ran for the door.
@jboy1708 I have not.
Sorry, don't have it.
I totally agree that Kazooie enhances Banjo's abilities a lot. And I realized something: 5:54 Kazooie helps Banjo swim better. She's a BIRD that helps Banjo SWIM better! Oh, well, video game logic.
that was easy it is how ever time consuming if you screw up,beating ninja gaiden, contra, or if you want get very serious beating i wanna be the guy are much harder, still pretty hard for banjo kazooie
