    I try not to look at it as a score, I look at it like a level of recommendation. When I point out all those issues I also talked about ways to get around them but also bring up what my main issues with the game were. Or to put it a better way which are the problems that really got in the way of the gameplay.

    Grunty Industries is the most genius level in the series imo... amazing design

      Ikr, All the music in that level is LEGIT!!! :-D also the level itself is fun, Clinker's Cavern is something I always use Cheatohoneyking with now on the N64 version though.
      Cloud Cuckooland was a nice final level too.

    The worlds are way to big in this game. I don't mine exploring huge levels its just there's nothing to do when exploring. Also the backtracking was annoying if you're one of those Players that like to get 100%

    My favorite worlds are as such:
    1. Grunty Industries
    2. Witchyworld
    3. Hailfire Peaks
    4. Glitter Gulch Mine
    5. Cloud Cuckooland
    6. Mayahem Temple
    7. Jolly Roger's Lagoon
    8. Terrydactyland
    Although contrary to what you said in the video, I actually *do* love *every* level in both Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie, and I appreciate them for what they are, and not for the small amounts of flaws in each one.

    No your not, others love Banjo-Tooie more than Kazooie. I'm one of the few who liked Kazooie more than Tooie. Haven't played Nut's and Bolts and I honestly don't want to.

    7:25 Funny you mention that, as Old King King's the Boss of Glitter Gulch Mine. By the time you get there, you'd only have access to Regular Blue Eggs and Fire Eggs. Ice Eggs I'm pretty sure you don't get till you reach Jolly Roger's Lagoon, 2 Worlds Later.
    Funny he'd want the Duo to fight for his Train to get from one world to another, makes me think Gruntilda actually tricked him into Believing the Duo are Train Thieves like how she tricked the Other Bosses in a way (like the Duo are Egg Thieves, the Duo are Pizza Delivery Boys, plus she might be the one Operating Weldar, and she probably created the Mumbo Impostor).

    • @cjszero01
      @cjszero01  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +CuriousUserX90 You can also get the Grenade eggs before going into Glitter Gulch Mine which does a great deal of damage against Old King Coal.

    4:38, first time I've ever heared anyone say "Lord Woo Fake Fake" and it's hilarious, to be honest I've never understood why they call him Lord Woo Fak Fak, since it's pretty easy to figure out what it sounds like, Lord Woo Nap Nap would have been better (as he seems to sleep a lot)

    Banjo tooie is my favorite game of all time. Because It was the first video game in ever played. Great game and it deserves a lot more attention.

  • @PKMN37
    @PKMN37 14 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I also like the fact that the game takes itself a little more seriously than its predecessor and it has ACTUAL bosses, which is something the first game lacked. I liked most of the music, too. It also provided a much better challenge; the first game was too easy.

    Cont.. Music is a personal taste that varies from person to person but I loved B-K's music because it was light-hearted and very catchy. B-T's soundtrack lacked that for me which is why I prefer B-K's soundtrack over B-Ts. In fact when I'm talking about the music, jiggy dance, and even the title screen I'm just giving a few reasons why I prefer the first one over the second one. If you didn't listen to the last part of the review none of those things effected the recommendation level I gave it.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The jiggy dance was like Mario doing his little spin after collecting a star or shine sprite. It's a little touch of charm and helped emphasis you collected an important item. I talked about the screen to also show the lack of charm from the first game to the second game. In the first one the characters are doing something and can trigger random animations like Banjo being thrown out of the window where as the second one just had them barely move the item you selected. Continued...

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The main flaws I had with Banjo-Tooie were easily countered such as using pads and the train for backtracking and that you only needed 70 jiggies to beat the game so you could skip some jiggies that were giving you any problems. Music is a personal taste and it is unfair to judge a game by that unless it feels as if there wasn't any effort put into it at all. I can't tell you what reccomendation I would give Skyward Sword in case I ever do review it so asking me about the points is pointless.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @dylz I'd personally rather finish the game then go back for sidequests. For me I just don't find "Hey you can't get to the next area until you go back to the fourth world and use this move in a specific area." The game doesn't have to be linear, just streamlined. Look at Banjo-Kazooie, no backtracking unless you missed something and chances are you will on your first time. However it's not linear since you can explore the areas and not have to do everything in a set order.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1.) While I don't like the music to Witchy World I actually do like the world.
    2.) I like it. It's not one of my favorites but I think it fits and it can be a little catchy.
    3.) You don't have to re-collect all the music notes, all the worlds have bosses (though some of them suck). and every world has a transformation that has a way to attack, except for the one.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not when there are ways around them. I didn't like the backtracking but I didn't need to collect of the jiggies. I didn't like the slow framerate but there is the cheat code to let you move faster. I thought that the worlds were big just to be big but at least they had warp pads. See how this all balances out?

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @JoshuaAWolf I liked most of it and most of the problems I had were covered by other things that fix them. However I still prefer the first one and from what you've seen you can understand why.

  • @PKMN37
    @PKMN37 14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Personally, I didn't really have any problems with this game. Lacked charm? I don't have any idea what you're talking about. I liked the fact that Grunty doesn't rhyme in this game and there was nothing wrong with Jamjars technique songs. Yes, some of the transformations were useless. I didn't care for a few bosses cough-dragonbrothers-cough. The framerate only slows down a few times; it rarely happens.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @0danmaster0 No I liked those from B-K, but I really disliked the ones you mentioned.

  • @dylz
    @dylz 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    backtracking was a POSITIVE. nothing worse than boring, linear gameplay. and i have no idea why everyone hated grunty industries so much. it was brilliant. it wasn't even that hard to remember the layout.

    I’ve just finished this game and to be honest, it wasn’t that great in the start the first two worlds were just kind of okay. But once Witchyworld hit it made me feel video game magic like the first game, sure I prefer the first game more then the second, but I still love this game, there are problems, like Mumbo’s inclusion, the backtracking, and the frame rate (I played the original Nintendo 64 version) and the like. But I really enjoyed the game, and I’m really sad we might never get another Banjo Kazooie game

  • @Liamrunescapefunorb
    @Liamrunescapefunorb 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The only issue mentioned in this video that bothered me is Mumbo not being able to do anything apart from dance, amusing yes but it would have been awesome if he could use his magic to let you "control an enemy" to do what you want with it (imagine making an enemy attack another and instead of saying "stop hitting yourself stop hitting yourself" you could say "you're hitting the wrong person I'm over here".)

    @dylz That's opinion based, I personally hate backtracking as that slows down the gameplay. Why do I want to stop my current progression just to go back and get one little thing and possibly end up lost or having to go look for something that takes you completely out of your way?

    On a scale of 1-10 (10 being easiest) how easy do you think Old King Coal is? I've heard he is one of the easiest bosses ever!!! I might get Banjo-Tooie if I get an N64

    • @tophario1492
      @tophario1492 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Old king coal is a joke. He won't touch you unless you let him. I think they made him a cinch so you could access the train and see the interconnectivity aspect fleshed out early. The train amplifies intrigue in how this game becomes 3d metroidvania with a living breathing world as opposed to the sectioned off amusement park style of the predecessor

      for getting the game again you could always try Ebay for an N64 with this game/controller and the aerial/plug, if you're not able to get all that there's always XBOX 360's live arcade and downloading banjo tooie from it, definitely worth looking in to if you want this game again :D

    For the First Time during this week, I watched a Banjo Tooie 100% Playthrough. What I noticed is that you don't collect any Jiggies in the Hub (Isle O'Hags), it keeps track of the Jiggies Collected in Chronological rather than how many in Each World, the Jinjos aren't just focused on each world, there's Evil Jinjos called Minmos, you don't have any Lives, the World are much larger than in Banjo Kazooie (with the addition of a Warp Pad), Jamjars will only rhyme when teaching the Duo a New Move in every world, Humba doesn't say ANYTHING during a transformation as opposed to Mumbo's "Oominaka", there's a Trivia Quiz against Gruntilda's Sisters at the end, and Banjo's voice has been altered from Banjo Kazooie during Gameplay (his "Ya Ha", "Wooooah" and "Aaaaaaaagh" sound fairly unchanged, as well as During his Dialogue as he speaks) unlike the Other Characters. It feels more like Donkey Kong 64 in a few ways.
    I myself have had some Personal Cons from seeing the Playthrough for the first time. Some I happen to agree with cjszero01 from seeing this Review a few times prior, and I have some of my own.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @joeandson I see someone's not paying attention. I said that the main flaws are overlooked because there are ways around them. If there's a world I don't like I don't have to be there that long because I only need 70 of the 90 jiggies to best the game. The worlds are huge but they have pads to get you from one area to another. While I didn't put it in the review there is a code to make you move twice as fast so the framerate doesn't matter. Everything else doesn't hurt the game at all.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @xboxkid91505 Well good news and bad news. TH-cam sent me an offer to see if I was elligble to make partnership. The bad news is I can't take it because it clearly says nothing copyrighted in your work and it did list video games in the list. It also said that if I make partnership and didn't follow the rules they would remove my videos without a second thought. Oh well... thanks for supporting me on that. :)

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Threadnaught Well most of it is nit-picking, taking off a point for that is that just lame, I mean it's not like they ruin the gameplay. The real truth is no-one ever talks about any of that stuff like backtracking and the low framerate. However, since you don't have to collect EVERYTHING in the game you can skip stuff and now I'm using the code SUPERBANJO and now the game is a lot more fun to play. You still don't need the code but it helps get rid of the framerate problem. :)

  • @SonikDude101
    @SonikDude101 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    I feel the same exact way that you do about this game. With the lack of personality, music that didn't pop like it did in Banjo Kazooie, way too much backtracking for my tastes, and playing besides anything other than Banjo and Kazooie wasn't entertaining. You actually hated the same levels that I did. I despised Glitter Gulch. I didn't want to beat the game cause it was too boring. I still love the first one to death though. Good review.

  • @SonikDude101
    @SonikDude101 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @cjszero01 lol I would try and blow your mind more but I stopped at Terrydactyl Land (Don't care how it's spelled to be honest) because it bored the hell out of me, and everything before it wasn't fun, so I really don't plan to go back any time soon. Kazooie is just a way better game, and despite how hard Kazooie gets, I can at least get it beaten 100% without losing my mind.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Ddangamer I see you weren't paying attention. I have issues but nothing that really gets in the way. Any issues I have with it have ways around it, thus making it hard to take off a point. Many of it were personal issues that only show why I prefer the first one more.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @PKMN37 The rating stuff is just something you have to go over when talking about B-T, it's unavoidable. It's not a problem since it doesn't affect the gameplay. The stuff after that I do have some issues but there are ways of balancing them out. No worries.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @xboxkid91505 Well it does say must be your own work or creation, no exceptions. I figure the only way around that is to have your own successful website or be an important part of a website. I'd rather not try and get in trouble.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @waterkid72 There were only 2 things that didn't live up to the hype and they don't make that much of a difference (except the mystery behind Stop-N-Swop). The framerate is only in the large open worlds and this is the N64, it had it's limitations.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ToNotification It's a long story. See you were supposed to swtich between the two games to get the items but it was dropped and now the items in B-K for the N64 don't do anything. Plus there's 3 eggs that were dropped in B-T.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @gman5852 I haven't played it but I've seen it on the Xboxlive, it wasn't the "original" intentions they claim it was. I don't believe that car parts or an xbox theme were the original rewards for the N64 games.

  • @cjszero01
    @cjszero01  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    Grunty Industries, you'll also need to fly around the sides of the buildings to see it.

    guys, for those who haven't heard, apparently some of the original creators of this game are thinking of making a comeback with this game and are thinking of making a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie. So if you want to see this happen, make a twitter account (in case you don't have one) and follow @ MingyJongo. Please for the love of god, let all Banjo Kazooie fans unite and follow this guy and let this happen.

    @cjszero01 yes, i'm aware this is subject to opinion, i figured it went without saying that this is just my own. personally i don't think revisiting old locales with new abilities is disruptive at all, especially for a game like this where there is no one way to collect enough jiggies to be allowed to move on to newer areas. even in cases where you're forced to use new abilities in familiar territory, this can be quite exciting and surprising -- as in the zelda and metroid games.

    Eventhough you've gained so many subscribers since I first found this channel, I think you deserve a lot more. Especially considering that you put so much effort into your reviews. I remember that I asked you to review this game about a year ago, and then I kind of forgot about this channel. This is truly one of your better reviews and you bring up stuff that I've never even thought about. Keep up the good work bro!

    @cjszero01 Not necessarily as a lot of video game companies allow people to use their music free for example Bungie lets people use their soundtracks in videos so I think it would be fine also there are other people on youtube who do reviews and are partners like wiireviewer not sure if thats how to spell it but even if you do send in youtube wont ban you or anything they just wont accept you but anyway its not a big deal just throwing it out there

  • @xboxkid91505
    @xboxkid91505 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @cjszero01 anytime just keep up the good work also I think you should still consider getting a partnership just because you are using the games audio does not mean youtube wont let you have one besides then you could make your videos as long as you want you could be the first person on youtube to do a 2 hour banjo kazooie speedrun lol ill watch but thats not my decision so whatever you do keep making great videos

    I do a few of these problems where fixed in the XBLA re-release; I don't own it, but from what I hear... the framerate is better and there are some new secrets. I honestly think they forgot to test the game without CHEATOSUPERBANJO to feel how big they really made it. (CHEATOSUPERBANJO is a cheat that makes you move twice as fast, for those who don't know.)
    Perhaps you could do an addendum to address whether the XBLA re-release improves anything else for you?

    The only thing I don't like about this game is that I want to delete every Mini-Games, Bosses, and Cinemas because I purchased my old copy of the game from a previous owner and I always prefer to unlock the mini-games, bosses and cinemas the right way (I hope someone knows a trick to do so), other than just nit-picking its still a great game for me! :)

    @cjszero01 It's fine, if you have expectations for a sequal and expect it to be better then the original in every way then it doesn't. It's why melee pros hate brawl and why I want to punch whoever balanced the character classes in RD... I think we all have those moments where we just cna't forgive the developers.

    One more thing, you mentioned the gambling. Why is that non-E? The pokemon handheld games have that Game Corner, which contains gambling machines, which are a lot of fun. I also like how they showed a lot of the different things you mentioned in the first cutscene. You can't hide your kids from everything in reality, dude. Trying to hide your kids from everything in reality is why censorship on TV is so heavy these days.

    Wow, that was quite a rant you went on there! I don't think I've heard you that angry since the top 5 worst Zelda dungeons! :P
    Here's a fun story for ya: I borrowed this game from a friend of mine back in the day, since he didn't like it. I kept it for over a year and I only had to give it back to him because he was selling his N64!
    I haven't played it since... but since I'm a pretty big Metroid-fan, I doubt the backtracking will bug me! ^^

    @knucklesSilver7 No it's actually Witchy World despite it's slow paced boring music.

    @cobra12ist they should make Pre-Order Bonus that tells the history of Stop-N-Swop.

    Think I said this in your Banjo Kazooie review, but.. I hate the graphics. I think this games needs a HD port/remake for XBLA. Mario 64 on the other hand, already looks great, and HD wouldn't improve it much. If anything, it would mess up the controls (playing on a 360 controller, I mean)

    Hi there
    Ugh! TH-cam is acting up on me as it's taken me so long to fully load up this video @@
    But anyway, great review there on Banjo-Tooie. I feel pretty gutted that I failed to get this game (as I went for Conker's Bad Fur Day), seems I missed out alot. Oh wells... Have to keep a eye out on it. Great review once again bud ^^

    "There wasn't a single music piece in banjo kazooie that i did not love" Challenge accepted. gobi's valley, mad monster mansion and rusty bucket bay's theme all suck, and witchyworld, terrydactland and grunty's industries themes are awesome

    I will have to agree that this is a lot better than the first, especially the humour, in my own personal little opinion, this is one of the greatest platformers I've ever played, I've had so much fun giving it a go and I'll always love it

  • @dylz

    @cjszero01 gotcha, i get what you mean. i loved banjo-kazooie but i actually was glad they departed from that sort of design for banjo-tooie, though i can understand why a lot of people (you included, it seems) weren't into that.

  • @dylz
    @dylz 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @cjszero01 and personally i do like seeing old areas again. i like to have ample time to "get to know" a world/level/etc. in a game rather than the wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am go-through-a-level-once-then-never-visit-it-again approach that many games utilize.

    @cjszero01 sorry, I thought you were being serious about those particular issues. It's just that when people talk about that kind of stuff, they usually mean it. That's why I was so on you about it.
