From Chicago IL (Southside and FBA). Love seeing black people from different cultures having meaningful, but sometimes difficult conversations. This is very good though.
As an African American (born here) I can trace my lineage to a specific region, country and tribe I speak the language of my forefathers most black Americans can’t
Then you're not African American. African Americans are their own ethnic group. African Americans can trace their lineage to 1600-1800s in America through slavery. If your parents are from Ghana and you were born in America, you would be considered Ghanaian American, not African American.
@Bw_Dubb It's not false. I don't know when Africans started identifying themselves as African American, but it was never a thing. They've aways identified themselves by their families' country of origin regardless of whether they were born in America or not. It's like y'all are trying to take over their identity. It's weird and alarming.
I'm so tired of the "you don't know where you're family is from" discourse. Were they not taught about chattel slavery in the UK?? Do they think most Black Americans immigrated in the 1940s like they did in the UK? The "where are your parents from?" question shows how little they know about us.
I went to a faith school (Catholic) high school! We learnt about American History - starting with slavery! In a school with 1:60 black children, that’s a memory I’ll never forget. Thank God I had a really cool, teacher who not only showed us the bad but the good. For example I saw images of ancient Floridians for the first time. Something unknown to the wider community! Studying ‘America’ from 1700-2000, part of my GCSE. was all new to me. Im African and back home, no one even knows that part of history! I only found out moving to the U.K.! I was fortunate! However my sister, went to a public school and their history curriculum, was completely different. Mainly European. Now you see that not everyone learns about America in the British education system, yes they’ll touch on it (basics like civil rights, sports) but never go in depth unless you take GCSE (aged 14/15), or higher education qualifications in history!

FBA and NYC all the way!!! The guy who said all Black people are the same is having delusions of grandeur. That's like saying all Asians are the same. He sounds insecure about who he is, uneducated about other Black groups, and their cultural norms. I can remember calling someone who looked Spanish and she actually was of Middle Eastern descent.

@phillipjames5365 this is why blk ppl will never get ahead cause they have no unity. You never hear white ppl call themselves FWA even though FBA call all of "them White ppl" when.almost all of them are immigrants that's I ly been here a generation or two.

A healthy conversation involves both parties actually listening to each other, being respectful, and allowing the other person to finish their statements vs being combative and defensive before they even finish their sentences. You can’t always be right. IJS
I agree with this but I do not Agree with 1 part ... it does not matter WHO is right, it only matter if ITS correct ... Most people just want to be correct just to be correct and thats not correct it only matter if the knowldge or information thats discussed is accurate to the situation

Good job Nephew continued blessing, Wait till they learned that Indigenous Black Americans where here before 1776 we also fought for the 14th amendment to allow africans and people of color Access to America . the problem is they will come over try to hide within Black culture and align themselves with the colonizers and wont understand the history nor the blood sacrifice Black Americans have had to endure to give all the freedoms which everyone can enjoy. The blood of our Ancestors did that not theirs and they must Respect the Oldest Riches indigenous Black Americans on the Planet. Even the word Black as an Ethnicity is American and we are the Most documented and copied people on the planet. Normally we would accept all cause we are a caring people but that has led us to our on demise and we must delineate and make a clear distinction between the people who have the same color hue. so that History is not forgotten and Reparation is given if not in our life time but in our future Kids and grandchildren life time. I think you should ask people about Liberia. It's a country with a name and flag inspired by the U.S. Many freed slaves from the U.S settled there and the first president of the country was a former slave in tbe u.s. An African country founded by white Americans and ran by former foundational black American slaves
From Chicago IL (Southside and FBA). Love seeing black people from different cultures having meaningful, but sometimes difficult conversations. This is very good though.
Im Black and im be honest not all black people are the same. Just like not all Mexicans, white, Asians, Indians, Puerto Ricans are the same facts.
Wet talking about ppl with brown skin being the same genetically a culturally which isn’t true .us Africans have nothing In common with black ppl
As an African American (born here) I can trace my lineage to a specific region, country and tribe I speak the language of my forefathers most black Americans can’t
Born where you not an African American black Americans and African American is the still thing
What generation are you
Then you're not African American. African Americans are their own ethnic group. African Americans can trace their lineage to 1600-1800s in America through slavery.
If your parents are from Ghana and you were born in America, you would be considered Ghanaian American, not African American.
@@AfriqueAmericanPrincess false
@Bw_Dubb It's not false. I don't know when Africans started identifying themselves as African American, but it was never a thing. They've aways identified themselves by their families' country of origin regardless of whether they were born in America or not.
It's like y'all are trying to take over their identity. It's weird and alarming.
I'm so tired of the "you don't know where you're family is from" discourse. Were they not taught about chattel slavery in the UK?? Do they think most Black Americans immigrated in the 1940s like they did in the UK? The "where are your parents from?" question shows how little they know about us.
Yes this is true, as a black brit i never fuck with that its just as disrespectful to us. The real black british are slave descendants as well.
However my sister, went to a public school and their history curriculum, was
completely different. Mainly European. Now you see that not everyone learns about America in the British education system, yes they’ll touch on it (basics like civil rights, sports) but never go in depth unless you take GCSE (aged 14/15), or higher education qualifications in history!

The sound-system music and language of '50s and '60s Kingston was more than entertainment - it was an entire culture.
