Fascinating project Paul, hope it doesn't give you too many headaches, but we know you love a challenge!!!

2:33 this isolator for the HV pulls out in two stages not just the red tag and when it’s fully out you can then put a small padlock in the hole to stop it being pushed back in.

I am still impressed with this project. It is so much work. I just do a Citroen CX as a project, it is just removing rust and fixing oil leaks. How simple is that compared to an EV. The only surprise is that there is more rust than expected😲 but that's always if a car is >30 years old. Keep on going Paul👍

Great advice and diagnosis. What might seem bad news to some, is a challenge for you, Paul. Keep up the good work.

Certainly a challenge. Personally I think the best way to fix this would be to buy a car with different damage and make one good one from the two cars and then eBay or sell wherever the other bits but that’s not the way Paul likes to work. 😀

Vw won’t activate a branded led grill light strip for the id4 because I purchased it from a 3rd party seller.

All these high powered electricity is a very expensive repair if things go wrong let alone the battery. Some say that even one or two month old BEVs are written off by the insurance companies as it is cheaper to get a new second hand one than repair the crashed one.. Guess the premium on these will be adjusted to cover the costs...

Not that hard to replace the pyro fuse. Pack opens quite easy, replacing the fuse itself is enough altough VW recomments to replace also the contactor boxes

You can let the gas come out on the ID3 apparently it's just CO2... Not normal refrigerant..

Paul. it's an anti roll bar not a sway bar. we're in England not the US. Too many safe guards with electric cars, will stick with my focus ST.

Oh come now, this is a silly thing to get bent out of shape over… he seemed like he forgot the word at that moment and was looking for it and remembered sway bar first. Everyone knows what he means, even the non-native english speakers.

It’s probably best not to crash any car to be honest, it may be a little simpler to fix a Focus ST but this VW or the Ford would be beyond most people’s capabilities, certainly mine anyway. Not even sure why I’m here to be honest. 😀

You are not even aloud to shutdown a car unless level 2 qualified and not allowed to remove and replace a ev component unless level 3 or even repair a component unless level 4 qualified

As a professional garage or mechanic / technician you are restricted but as an amateur in the UK who wants to work on their own car, your shout.
Be aware though: it's entirely at your own risk and the consequences of your work could come back to haunt you in so many ways.
