    Alex, thank you for making and sharing your beach and rock fishing videos. Your experience and know- how is second to none. You are an absolute legend and it is a privilege to know you. I recommend anyone interested in beach or rock fishing, regardless of experience, to contact Alex and organize a charter. Alex will help you catch your target species whether it be whiting, bream, flathead, mulloway, yellowtail, salmon, tailor, trevally, snapper, groper, blackfish or kingfish. I can’t thank you enough for the many years you spent teaching me and now it is so wonderful to see you in your videos sharing information with everyone.
    Thanks again.

    Very nice Alex a lot different to our yellowfin whiting fishing as we fish large open flats i personally use mustad longshank no 4 with a 30 mm piece of red tube over the hook eye and beach worms with a small running ball sinker great video looking forward to the next one cheers for now John.

    • @AlexBellissimo
      @AlexBellissimo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John
      I prefer to use the larger hooks in the surf to reduce deep hooking undersized fish. It when using squirt worms, skinny baits a no-4is ok especially estuary fishing.

    couldn't agree more about the hook size mate, as you said in someone else's comment far too many undersize fish die due to small hooks. I know some guys who use gangs to target them and I myself prefer a size 1 suicide hook with pipis. Still manage to catch the odd fish around 20cm but lots of nice whiting and bream as well, even caught a nice female flattie around 72cm. the old whiting do get a good hammering where I'm from so most go back but they're still an excellent fish to chase cheers👍👍

    • @AlexBellissimo
      @AlexBellissimo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi JimJim
      It seems to be an old way of thinking using the much smaller hooks simply because anglers strike too soon, therefore missing fish then thinking they need a smaller hook for a better hook up ratio which is not correct.

    Great point about hook size. Can't see too many released whiting surviving with a hook almost in their stomachs. No teeth, they just suck it straight down. Using "quick" corroding hooks might give released fish more of a chance too.

  • @deadlytaj
    @deadlytaj ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey ALEX 👋 great video quality and good catch 👌
    Is it important to use light setup when targeting whiting? My both beach rods are heavy I suppose, 15 to 20 kg

    Hi Alex,
    Loved the video. A great session on the beach with a nice feast of fish.
    A few questions ...
    What day were you out at the beach in the video ?
    How long were you there ?
    Who was that guy who turned up beside you at the 10m:40s time mark - is he the reason you moved ;-) ?

    • @AlexBellissimo
      @AlexBellissimo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I did not move because of the angler near me. I move around normally. Besides that I fish nearer than that to anglers. And it was roughly a two hour session

    • @AlexBellissimo

    Great video Alex! I liked what you had to say about hook size for Whiting. I have also always heard you must use small hooks, 4 or 6 for Whiting. I recently ran out of 4s and left my pack of 6s at home so used a 2. I thought this will just have to do until I get home and will most likely be too big for any Whiting. I was surprised when I got several good ones, including a pair of fat 32cm'ers. I changed back to a 4 and 6 thinking I just got lucky, then saw your video! I switched back to a 2 after that! I figure it will be better for any Bream and Flathead around too. What about estuary fishing? Do you still use a 2 for Whiting fishing in the rivers and estuaries?

    • @AlexBellissimo
      @AlexBellissimo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me the hook size is not just to hook
      less undersized fish. If your using a squirt worm bait it may be better to go to a no-4. But a no-6 is just too small. Too
      Many undersized whiting die because anglers use too small a hook.
