    I bought SSL E when it was on sale a while back. It honestly is incredible.
    I use it for my drums in the black mode and nothing else compares. You get a super meaty kick but the muddiness disappears completely, and the snare stops being harsh on the ears. I don't even apply almost any EQ, it just works like magic in default. It's hard to imagine doing drums without this plugin.

    Great presentation. So clearly highlights the different sounds of the consoles. I'm happy to have all three. I wish they wouldn't play the background music for the WHOLE video as he's talking. I wanted to keep my ears focused on the tracks and what he was saying. Very distracting and unnecessary for me, but he is great and the information is much appreciated.

    I agree with the opinion I've read that the G is more mid-focused. Listening through this video back and forth I understand why E is more popular - it sounds a bit more scooped (?), more bass and a bit more open which makes it easier to like on the first listen. G sounds a bit crunchy or something in the mids, I don't agree with the opinions I've read on forums that G sounds cleaner than E, I think it is the opposite way around. I've read that Tony Maserati said for him "G is for Grit, Grind and Gain" and I understand kind of what he means hearing this video. Listening to the end shootout I prefer E on kick and G on snare. I bought G because in my opinion I would prefer the the midrange for punk rock music. I really like the E-eq from Slate though and will use it wherever I prefer it over the G's two eq:s.
    Terrific shootout. I think I have a grip of the difference between the consoles now!

      @@mikehunt576 I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and take you seriously:
      There are numerous reasons to not use cracks:
      1. It is not free. Don't confuse stealing something with something being offered for free. Do unto others...
      2. If everyone uses crack software, the devs will have no business and they will cease to be able to develop and service product.
      3. People who use crack software rarely value the software. They will always be looking to download the newer and better cracks of newer or different software. The result of the pillage is that the users never get to know any one tool with the intimacy and respect that is required. They are too busy fiddling around with tools that they don't know or which have bugs, instead of using paid for tools that they learn well to actually get on with making music. The knock on effect is that they are less productive. The quality of tool use is low resulting in the user not reaching potential.
      IMHO, a better way, if you are broke ass or a cheap skate who wishes to avoid being a thief, is to choose from the plethora of excellent software tools that are available for free and get to know them well. Then crack on with making music, not downloading cracks.

    • @mikehunt576
      @mikehunt576 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lastkissrecords412 there are even more benefits with using cracks I heard as well, like no stupid ilk dongles, free-dome, start up faster, cheaper, look sexier and best of all PRIVACY (no online verification bs with all the privacy concerns out there) , solution to be a successful studio owner with cracks is to "stay off line and your fine".....
      the middle of the road solution for developers of these apps is to BRING THE PRICES DOWN, its why APPLE is a Suksex.

    Hi Joe, I have a question that is not related to the videos topic. I am wondering if you are using (2) S3 next to each other? If so, how did you configure ? I currently use S3 and the Dock. I would like to have 32 faders if it is possible. Sorry not have a question about the SSL. However, I am a yearly subscriber to the plugs of Plugin Alliance.

    • @antondoty5552
      @antondoty5552 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not Joe, but he's using 2 Artist Mix controllers, not 2 S3s. You can tell because the S3 has two rows of knobs and more buttons. The Artist Mix controllers are easy to organize and link together with the EUCON

    Very revealing......I would never put a ch strip on a mix, but it does reveal the overall character of each.
    I now get why a lot of people are seduced by the 9000J. It's SO glassy and silky on the top, and the bottom is indeed phat!. By comparison the G (the only SSL I have) almost sounds nasally in the mids. The E has punchier bottom than the G. I mainly got the G because I wanted that sound for snare and elec gtrs. The E may have been a better overall choice, but I'm happy with the G....and what it lacks is covered by the Console N and Focusrite Console ;:-)

    When i hear “drive the console” and “saturation” my head hits a wall. There are so many variables to a sound in the analog domain that interact with circuitry than a digital counterparts algorithm to even come close to emulating. Maybe someone who writes these algos to elaborate.

      @davidbmixing 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KevinStCroix it's 2020. We are able to create near perfect humanoid faces via CGI. We have artificial intelligence. This is nothing in comparison. Emulations down to component level have been evolving and improving constantly for many years now. It's perfectly understandable to hear people talk as if they were actually using a console. Even CLA does it in his in-the-box videos for various outlets, and pretty much no one has spent more time mixing on an actual SSL than him I would assume. If you have a lot of technical questions, I'd say the best approach is to send an e-mail to some of the people who actually program the plug-ins instead of writing a comment like that on a promo/tutorial video.

    • @InTheMixJoeCarrell
      @InTheMixJoeCarrell 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kevin St Croix good morning Kevin. I’m not sure what else I would call it 😂. Plug-in alliance and others have been modeling the harmonic distortion characteristics of preamps/line inputs for several years now and I feel it was one of the big missing links for me to switching totally in the box. Whatever you decide to call it, I’m very happy with the adjustable harmonic distortion built into the SSL plug in family in this vid. Take care. ✌🏼

    • @autodidacticprofessor869
      @autodidacticprofessor869 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This isn’t the Waves version. Modeling has improved a lot over the years and those variables are not only completely understood, they are included. Every instantiation of the plugin slightly varies the circuit tolerances just like real console channels, so they are not exactly the same. This is based on both the understanding of component tolerances in real world applications but based on original specs. Maybe your head has hit walls too many times and you’re having trouble thinking. Try the plugin and see for yourself before making these statements.
