Knew you would love this...Geoff is from another planet! When you talked about the "production team"...it's all them. Layne (the beat boxer) arranged this one. Geoff arranged Hoist The Colours. Eli (the bald rock tenor) is the lighting and often the set design and also arranges some of their releases (Creep, Black Hole Sun, Eleanor Rigby)...fyi Eli is pronounced like Ellie (not E-Lie). The costumes, production, video, choreography, makeup, etc is all them. They are totally independent and have no record label to answer to. There was no rap section in the original and VoicePlay wrote it for J. None who just smashed it. J. None used to be a full time member of the group, but joined the Navy (sings for the Navy) during Covid and comes back as a featured artist, so there are currently 4 full time members. The group has origins as Disney/Universal performers, so that's where they get the acting / make-up influence for their videos. As others have probably already said, VoicePlay are the "Theater Kids" of A Cappella. Great reaction! You'll love Dragonborn Comes which has a similar vibe...or you can go with Oogie Boogie's Song from Nightmare Before Christmas (to hear the top and bottom of Geoff's range) or Hellfire or We Don't Talk About Bruno or Seven Nation Army or Warrior or Creep, or Drunken Sailor or The Hall of The Mountain King or Dream On or Hide & Seek or pretty much anything they do!! Looking forward to your next!!
Actually, the bottom of Geoff’s subharmonic range is the B0 here in “Valhalla Calling” In “Oogie Boogie” he only goes down to an E1. At the time it was recorded, that was Geoff’s lowest.
I was going to comment that pretty much everything she said about the sets, the makeup, the arrangement, etc. just confirms their nickname as the theater kids of a cappella.
Ah yes! Welcome to Rock God Eli! This is my number one favorite Voiceplay song. I listen to it every other night, on repeat for several hours. It never ceases to blow me away.💙
I am here for it. Pause, talk, and rewind. I actually don't like reactions that sit there silent... when people do that, then they aren't really reacting; they are just listening to a song for clicks. You're actually reacting.
VP is very good about properly crediting contributors. This one was arranged by Layne - he decided he wanted a rap section and commissioned Alfredo Austin to do that. Performed, of course, by J None. (that was also Layne doing the creaking door when J None entered. No outside sound effects. I think that's the one that really blows me away.) The video, concept and yes, those gorgeous backdrops - all done by Eli. His eye is amazing.
Did anyone happen to count how many sentences Alison couldn't finish because VP flustered her so badly? 😉 Always lovin' your reactions, Alison😅... and your endearing, flustered, unfinished sentences!
And it's so different from the way Cesar usually presents himself with VP - he's usually a lot softer, breathier with his vocals. I think of this song as Cesar representing his inner berserker!
Ok... I see one thing here. This song is a test, because during that intro chorus Geoff holds that B0 most of it, but a lot of headphones drop it out as background. I can see you react as he comes back in, but less during the sustained note. Am glad you had a good week.
Miracle of Sound loved this cover by VP (see the pinned comment on the video). Layne arranged it and of course, had to test Geoff (this is only the second time he recorded B0s (quite a few) apart from Halo. They are their own "production team" - with Patreon support they bring in help here and there (make-up, stead-cams etc.) Eli is a wizard with lighting and background. The Dragonborn comes (another games cover) was a Geoff arrangement and there is PLENTY of costumes and theatrics in there 😄. Their Halloween and Disney works are also VERY elaborate and fantastic. Thanks for this! 🌹🕊
Since you've mentioned how each of the guys is amazing in their own way, I'm going to recommend my favorite videos to showcase them individually. Layne: We Don't Talk About Bruno Eli: Seven Nation Army Cesar: Creep Geoff: I See Fire (From his solo channel)
The production team is them. In this one they are filming in a room with basically computer monitors for walls which Eli the bald tenor programmed the screenshots for. Geoff’s wife is their production manager. Whoever arranged the piece decides what the theme for the video will be. It’s usually Geoff, Layne (beatboxer), or Eli. The rap was written by someone else. They get in people to help with makeup and videoing. Whoever arranged then edits the video and first audio mix then they send it out to Ed Boyer for final mix. You might enjoy Warriors
Thanks for your enthusiastic reaction! We knew you would love this one. This is a cover of the song in the 'Assassin's Creed' game and they also did a prequel cover to this (same characters in same costumes) from the game "My Mother Told Me". The rap part is done by J None, former full time member of Voice Play that left to join the Navy but comes back often as a frequently featured guest when he is on military leave. J None is very talented as he has an amazing voice range singing bass with the Navy but can really hit those falsetto notes and he can beatbox and rap as well ( J None does have his own solo channel on You Tube that you may want to check out). Voice Play is independent and they do all of their own production, arrangements, makeup, and costumes (Long time friend, Rick Underwood, that did their makeup when they worked as performers at Universal theme park helps them with more complicated makeup that involves prosthetics). They have some great Disney covers and you would enjoy "Little Mermaid Medley" and "We Don't Talk About Bruno" as these two covers have a female singing as their featured guest (watch out for their new cover they will be releasing very soon- costumes, makeup and technical effects are stunning! Their new one has been previewed by their patrons and does not have a title yet but should be released on You Tube in a few weeks).
You have to pause and comment to do proper reactions. Rewind, replay, start over if you want. It is all good. Eli is pretty scary on his own, isn't he? He gets so intense.
If you’re looking for something in this genre, I absolutely suggest My Mother Told Me. They sing a thousand year old Viking song and absolutely kill it.
Valhalla Calling us a song written by Gavin Dunne, a musician who writes and perform original songs under the band name Miracle of Sound. This particlar song is a fan song written for assassin's creed viking edition.
🎼🎼🧤🧤🧤 I agree , so well done. There are many great songs in your future. I will suggest ... "In the Air Tonight" ... or "Dream On" .. .. keep rocking !!!!!! 🧤🧤🧤🎼🎼
J.None first rapped with VoicePlay in their cover of Superstition. The words of both were written by Alfredo Austin, who is not part of VoicePlay but well known to them. They have a wide circle of friends and colleagues to call on.
They are totally independent. Everything you see is done by VoicePlay members.Their arrangement, lighting, costumes, sets, directing, production, film editing. Their makeup man is Rick Underwood. Take a peak at the video credits to see who did what.
J is very multitalented. He raps with voiceplay again in “Superstition” and he has is own solo work which I love. His song “Am I here” is a great piece that shows off his talents and his rapping.
I'm always surprised how few acknowledge Layne with his outstanding percussion beatboxing. No instruments just Layne. Voiceplay in my opinion outshine all other acapella groups. Panatonix will always be 2nd best with these guys around
Keep reacting to VoicePlay as you can never go wrong with anything they do. But also check out Geoff Castellucci's solo (well, not so solo) pieces. "Unshaken" is one of my favorites along with "Blackbird".
Great reaction!😊 If you would like to see more like this from them they did MY MOTHER TOLD ME about two years before this one. They are Vikings in that one too.😊
I sang Barber shop quartet and A Capella music growing up. Love it! Played in a rock band too. But there has been a resurgence of it recently it’s the theatrical videos that make it!
Hey Alison, new subscriber here. I'm a former musical theater, turned rock vocalist from California, USA. Love the reactions! Since you love Geoff's voice, may I suggest VoicePlay's cover of the "Oogie Boogie Song" (th-cam.com/video/EbxkOntz2SA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qxVpr_TNM7I7Hyl6) from the movie, "Nightmare Before Christmas?" If you are taken by Geoff's voice as most, including me, are. This video showcases the amazing breadth of his vocal range. It's absolutely something to behold. Thanks again for a great reaction! Keep up the great work.
This is really one of major epic videos. More? Try My Mother Told Me, Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, In the Hall of the Mountain King (Edvard Grieg 1875), Nothing Else Matters (Metallica), In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins), Creep (RadioHead), their post-apocalyptic trilogy starts with Warriors (Imagine Dragons) Layne earned his alias on this one VioLayne, next is Dream On (Aerosmith), ends with Seven Nation Army (White Stripes), some lovelies - Tennessee Whiskey (Chris Stapleton), I Can't Make You Love Me (Bonnie Raitt), Can't Help Falling In Love, Geoff solo - Till Then, Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold (Hobbit), I See Fire (2nd Hobbit- Desolation of Smaug). Unshaken (video game), VP- Sleeping in the Cold Below (WarFrame), Wicked, Hellfire, We're Good, etc.
Speaking of costumes and performance, Voiceplay’s In the Hall of the Mountain King may be the pinnacle of that. It’s my favorite song from my favorite band
Next, I recommend you review the Halo theme song or Dragonborne Comes. Hmm, Survivor Hillbillies vs. Zombies is an excellent cross-over with Home Free.
Still waiting for the Jake Kohn Frostbite reaction but if you're on a acapella roll then Geoff does a good oogie boogie man song from nightmare before Christmas or the jacks lament is a great solo Geoff
Funny that Miracle of sound gave them "10 out of 10 alehorns" for this then... they said it is one of the better covers out there... coming from the writers I'd say it is a win 😉

I was going to comment that pretty much everything she said about the sets, the makeup, the arrangement, etc. just confirms their nickname as the theater kids of a cappella.
VoicePlay reached out to a friend in a different a cappella group named Fredo, whom they met while doing the Sing Off, to write the rap for them.
@hwyla4416 everyone misses that B0!
The rap lyrics were written by Alfredo Austin who also wrote the rap section in Superstition. Check the credits. :)

I LOVE Cesar's face this entire video, like he's trying to chew each word before he spits it out, so much grit and almost anger in it.
And it's so different from the way Cesar usually presents himself with VP - he's usually a lot softer, breathier with his vocals. I think of this song as Cesar representing his inner berserker!
Especially the grit in his voice when he sings “Valhalla calling ME!”
Ok... I see one thing here.

In The Hall of the Mountain King will absolutely blow your mind!
Hall of Mountain King is an arrangement masterpiece!!
Check out the new Classical Chaos they just dropped. Same characters. Oh so good.
They do great Disney covers too. I think you would really enjoy Friends on the other side featuring J None.
My favorite!!
Your channel. You do you. Here for it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Rap written by Alfredo Austin, who has written a rap for them before.
However, I should add that J None does write raps into his original music. Search for his TH-cam channel (under J None) to hear his writing.
@@hwyla4416 Alfredo also wrote J None’s rap in Superstition. He is currently a member of the acapella group Straight No Chaser.
You need to check out voiceplay the lion sleep tonight. You will definitely enjoy it

Except My Mother Told Me has Jose Rosario Jr. and no Cesar. But it's fantastic!💙
@@DravenGal But Cesar is wearing Jose's cloak. I love that their attention to detail includes little nods to continuity like that
@@DTA-Music Sweet! I never noticed that. Given that they went to school together, ir seems appropriate.💙

Eli is pretty scary on his own, isn't he? He gets so intense.
Thank you!
I imagine Eli alone in a theatre or amphitheatre would be SO powerful, no mics ever needed!
the runes on Cesar's face spell VoicePlay.
This one went straight to most of our playlists.

Thanks for the info!

I subscribed today. I love watching ppl react to VoicePlay
J.None first rapped with VoicePlay in their cover of Superstition. The words of both were written by Alfredo Austin, who is not part of VoicePlay but well known to them. They have a wide circle of friends and colleagues to call on.
Absolutely love your reactions to VP. You brought a smile to this old man's face young lady. May your day be blessed
The guys make you literally giddy with delight which makes watching these tremendously fun!
Love your reactions to Voieplay and Geoff. Try a different genre. They did I Can't Make You Love Me, it will break your heart.
Great reaction. Thank you. I haven't heard a bad Voiceplay song yet and I believe I've heard them all.
Six Nation Army might be interesting for you. A different guest on hand.
VoicePlay - never less than superb. Great reaction Alison!
It was there at the end of this video---VoicePlay's cover of "My Mother Told Me"--almost exactly the same costumes and makeup and a great arrangement.
Perfect reaction… love the pausing and replaying what impressed you in real time 😊
They are totally independent. Everything you see is done by VoicePlay members.Their arrangement, lighting, costumes, sets, directing, production, film editing. Their makeup man is Rick Underwood. Take a peak at the video credits to see who did what.
❤❤❤ You can’t go wrong with them! Pick literally anything! 😂
J is very multitalented. He raps with voiceplay again in “Superstition” and he has is own solo work which I love. His song “Am I here” is a great piece that shows off his talents and his rapping.
Geoff is a Freak! your going to like all his songs!
Awesome reaction. They really are amazingly talented in voice, production, acting…the whole deal.
Great, enthusiastic reaction. Thank you.❤❤❤❤❤
I just stumbled onto you, I'm subscribing loved watching this with you. What a doll

Geoff just doin geoff things, being all geoffy 😂 lots of geoffquakes here 😁💜
PS give Marshall a nose boop for me! 😺👈💜
Geoff's sounded like he has 15" subwoofer in his throat
Pause away. It’s a reaction after all… 👍☺️
☺️☺️
Valhalla Calling is better with the vikings series scene
You should check out pentatonics and home free two amazing groups
I’ve been reacting to home free for a bit! Already know petatonix from years back but I’ll have to get back onto them!

Kathy, Geoff’s wife, does most of the production stuff-props, costumes, makeup, etc.
Peyton Parrish and miracle of sound version of Valhalla calling me you won't be disappointed

If you like Skyrim voiceplay did a Skyrim cover of songs in costume, "The Dragonborne Comes".
Next, I recommend you review the Halo theme song or Dragonborne Comes. Hmm, Survivor Hillbillies vs. Zombies is an excellent cross-over with Home Free.
You should react to the Miracle of sound TRIO version of this song. You think Geoff is low? Wait until you see this version!
From Vikings series. Not sure if it was original for the series or not, but they used it extensively.
I rec Geoff castelluchi deep bass cover of man of constant sorrow, voice play cover drinkin sailor it's fun
Thanks for being you, always a bright spot in my day. 🎉

You would really love their My MotherTold Me.
This song was written by the band "miracle of sound" And yes that rap was all him. thats not in the original song
The rap was outsourced and written by Alfredo Austin though 😊
Miracle of Sound is his own rabbit hole. He writes music inspired by video games, tv and movies with a high variety of styles. Really very good.
@@hwyla4416 I didnt know that part, I thought he it was a band not just one guy. Thank you for the correction
