The reason J. NONE is alone outside for most of the song is to symbolize a Viking warrior on earth and then when he goes through the door and joins VoicePlay, he is being brought into Valhalla.

So glad you were wearing pants!! You made me laugh so hard! There was no green screen, it was LED screens, Eli did all of the design and editing. The costumes and makeup were basically the same as My Mother Told Me.
Layne was amazing. I have to keep reminding myself that J None did not crash through a wooden door that creaked shut behind him, that it was all Layne!!

Thank you for have the most appropriate reaction to this song so far! I’ve been waiting for people to show some kind of shock when the dubstep section drops the first time because I know I sure did. They went actually insane on everything from vocals to performance for this one. Also, they filmed in a studio with giant LED screens, so it actually wasn’t green screen.

Black boy was out side cause his plane was 3 hrs late, Cathy had been sent to pick him up. They others were in costume, in 90 degree heat cause AC had stopped working.. Then JNone had a wedding to go to afterwards.
No green screen, this was filmed in a big studio, not at patty cake.
One reactor was "fake pissed" at JNone, like DUDE you can not have ALL THE TALENT, leave something for the rest of us. Then a pretend interview... So JNone, they say you have a creative talent... Loved your smile while you were enjoying this!! All of them were incredible, but I especially loved 'fierce Cesar'! He doesn't get a chance to show his power that often. And even Layne managed to add some grit to his usually sweet, mellow tone during his solo! Eli's verse a couple octaves over everyone else just awed. And of course, Geoff ... well, he Geoffed. Nuff said.
Now you need another vacation, don't you? 🤣 That really was a “tough song” to reengage with Voiceplay with all the extraordinary things from Geoff's b0 over Cesar's power voice, Eli's rock scream, Layne's hillarious good beatboxing and J.None's Rap as the “chef's kiss” on top.

Valhalla is sort of Viking heaven which is only achieved when they die in battle. J None had not reached Valhalla until mid video when he came thru the door.
That's what I thought! The group was waiting for their brother in arms to die and join them😅to do the daily ritual of fighting , dying, being reborn again, and then returning to the hall for feasting to do it all again the next day.

2:55 For guitar players out there, to put into perspective how low this note is: Standard bass guitar strings don't go that low. The B0 Geoff sings there is the lowest note on the low string of a 5 string bass.

Funny thing Qofy, none of this was green screened. All of this was recorded in one giant wall of screen as the “green screen”. No green screens were used. Just a camera, props, a screen, and 5 vikings singing their heart out.
Yes, that's a full B0 subharmonic he's holding for about 15 seconds (and holds for about 12 seconds beneath the rap), and Eli is throwing B5s out there as if it were effortless. This was not shot on green screen, it was Eli's designs from Unreal Engine put into a volume studio (like the one used for The Mandalorian). The LED volume screen is 155 ft long and 26 ft high, and allows for the animated background to track with the camera, giving it more depth of field behind the guys. And, more power to them, the A/C was broken, so they're shooting in mid-Florida in those hot costumes with no cooling!
J.None was still on Earth and entered the ship leading to Odin's Halls in Valhalla right after Eli sings about it. And you can see Geoff greeting him by raising his cup.

A lot of the costuming and makeup is from My Mother Told Me. Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay. I’m surprised they made it through the filming. It was a hot Florida day and the air conditioning was out in the studio and they were all wearing leather and fur. That is dedication!
I am not generally a fan of rap, but they pulled this off. The lyrics fit so well and J was going so fast that even with closed captioning I had to rewind!
The music in the outro is the karaoke track. The percussion and background vocals and it could be a piece on its own because it’s also gorgeous.

The Vikings actually were kind of rappers. They did a thing called Flyting, which was basically poetic, insulting rap battling. ❤💜💙
The Vikings rap was a precursor to our modern day rap. Just not the same thing. Putting a modern day rap into the song just spoils it for me. It was great in Superstition but not in this form in a Viking song.
Flyting was not a Viking thing as Vikings were not a separate ethnic group/culture. It was a Norse/Germanic/Anglo-Saxon tradition. Well, scratch that, most of medieval Europe and Asia (not sure about other continents) dabbled in poetic insult, so it belonged to practically everyone. Also, I love how everyone freaks out about the oh-so-inaccurate rap section in the song and says nothing about the dubstep influences in the arrangement 🤣 we're all historians on this blessed day!
Anyway, love the song and the reaction only added to the enjoyment.

It's all heavily romanticised nowadays anyway, peeps! Just enjoy the damn song.

When you spoke of JNone starting off outside, after I've watched this video several times, along with Miracle of Sound, I'm thinking JNone starts off still being earthbound with him hearing Valhalla Calling him per battle? I believe the others have already passed on to Valhalla and are waiting for J to join them, which he does, when he walks through heavens door. That's just my thoughts.

Hey I don't know if you'll see this, but I just saw a recent (I think this week) episode on AGT where an awesome choir from Africa was so inspired by Nightbirde's original song, "It's Okay", that as a tribute to her, they performed her song as their audition and git golden buzzer. Nightbirde died from cancer and only had 2%chance to live when she auditioned and sang Its Okay at her AGT audition. All judges but especially Simon, DEEPLY admired her and her outlook. Thought you might just want to watch the choirs audition. It's deeply touching. Thanks Oofy. God bless. ❤

I believe there is a backstory to J.None being outside for the first part of the video. He was flying in to Florida to make this video with them - but his plane was three hours late, so the rest of them had to carry on without him for a while (in baking Florida heat, because the air-con wasn't working in the studio - just what you want when you're all dressed in furs!) Eli patched him into the outdoor scenes later, with his top-tier-wizard editing skills. 😄
