Amazing job!!!!! I feel like people typically think of the trumpet as this loud, bombastic instrument. But you make it sound so tender and beautiful. Edit: *flugelhorn
High school band director here. If you make these arrangements available for purchase you will sell more charts than Gordon Goodwin. We easily have a dozen Goodwin charts in our library and would purchase yours as well! I am certain there are legions of band directors who are in the same boat!
Probably wouldn't be allowed to considering the licensing involved. Would need square enix and the licensing agency the composers went through to approve it
When I was a child, “video game music” meant the defeat theme from Space Invaders. These days, it is a sprawling field with a plethora of talented composers and musicians. For some reason, this brings me so much joy. 🎉
You know, for a long time I thought Tifa’s theme would’ve sounded better with more energy, which I equated to being a little quicker with a different feel. I actually finished up a bossa nova version of it not too long ago to achieve this. But just like always you blow all of my preconceptions out of the water. You kept the piece slower but injected so much feel into it that it’s almost a completely different tune. I think I realize now that “energy” and tempo/feel are completely different too. Thank you so much, 8BBB, you all continue to inspire me to be a better musician.
"I think I realize now that “energy” and tempo/feel are completely different too." Great artistry can make slow have so much energy it's astonishing. We are blessed to have artists like 8BBB among us so that we can have these experiences.
I’m only two minutes in and I’m actually in tears. A composition hasn’t affected me like this since… your Pollyanna cover, actually. You guys are killing it over there!
If you liked their cover of Polyanna, you should definitely check out the collab between insaneintherain, Adrisaurus, FamilyJules, and Sab Irene! That's my favorite ever.
I have to say, this waltz version is so romantic. If a band started playing something based on this rendition in a wedding, no one would find it weird.
The whole arrangement is absolutely lovely, but it's incredible how at 0:55 just a few notes can instantly make me smile and tear up a little bit. God I love video game music. So many tunes that can take me right back to so many incredible stories and fond memories. Epic battles, shocking twists, tender moments, lovable characters, devastating losses, and on and on.
Man, I’ve always believed that VGM is good, but the fact that some of the best musicians in the world think that it’s good enough to reinterpret and perform at such an incredibly high level is so validating. It’s like you’re grabbing the musical establishment by the shoulders and shaking them and saying PAY ATTENTION and then showing them everything I liked as a child, and it hits me in the feels in a way I wasn’t prepared for.
VGM is so magical, and you guys are so insane, that I haven't played a single Final Fantasy game in my life, and somehow a felt so touched hearing this, and feeling nostalgia for something I don't even Know :')
There's something much more introspective and frankly, "grown up" about this latest slate of arrangements. This, like "Song of Storms" have a very relaxed, on the backbeat drift that are just quietly fantastic. Also - Chloe is sublime here, floating through the melody with the effortless grace of a bird. This group of featured soloists have been a real coup for all of us.
I cried when listening to this live in ny, and am honestly surprised by how much emotion the studio version managed to capture - pulled my heart strings real tight this time.
This had me in euphoric tears when I first heard this. I've never failed to be impressed by you lot, and this was perhaps the most emotive and feel-laden work you guys have gifted to the public. The arrangement's superlatively stellar here. The conductor's clever use of a string section and the orchestra's expert-grade dynamics both give the piece some tenderness and vulnerability, but the employment of a flugelhorn over a trumpet injects enough warmth into the soloist's florid playing to offset that - thereby making the whole theme convey both sides of Tifa's personality very faithfully. It's no mean feat to take such small snippets of music and convert them into majestic and powerful song-length pieces, and the maestro here is to this century what Duke Ellington was to the last century - the big band arranger who sets the standard that all others follow. Simply put, you guys should be asked to score and perform a video game at some point, because this performance is as beautiful as the lady who led it.
That's it! This is awesome. The flugelhorn is an AMAZING touch for this one. Already emotional piece made better with a Chuck Mangione/Gleason crossover.
As in remembering a promise in a "song to change her mind" (look it up for those who don't know. Jackie Gleason had a few albums out that are actually quite good)
Unbelievable, once again. This should deserve to be played at the BBC Proms.❣ Almost feel bad for other VGM cover channels on TH-cam, as this sets the bar so high it's unachievable. 🤪
Allen Vizutti was incredible playing this in Seattle the other day. I want him to record this too. I never thought I'd live to see the day to see him playing this live and it was like butter. Chloe did an amazing job on this recording too!
God I love the Flugelhorn so much. As a trumpet player it was practically love at first note when I got to play one in high school pit orchestra. I'm always ecstatic to see one in VGM covers. Blew any expectations I had out of the water yet again. Album 4 might truly be the album of albums you guys have done. How's album 5 supposed to top all this greatness?
This is insane. I just discovered this channel yesterday by listening to the Pollyanna cover, which was amazing since it came from Earthbound, a spectacular game. Then today a song from one of my favorite video games, FF7, especially from one of my favorite characters, this must be too good to be true.
It is a testament to the brilliance of the original composition that it can sound amazing in such contrasting arrangements. The big band stirs while the lo-fi version from The Consouls soothes. Incredible!
the sound i made when i saw this notification is a little embarrassing, but it was worth it for every second of this beautiful cover… you really made every section of the song feel like a passing part of tifa’s day running seventh heaven…having a quiet drink and catchup with cloud, waiting through the slow hours, the playful times with marlene and barret, the upbeat and bright chats with aerith, the joy and camaraderie with jessie, biggs, and wedge, into the slow, night-time waltz of closing time. just gorgeous. thank you so much for this composition, every instrument had a meaningful role and shone throughout.
oh this is just pure bliss. what a beautiful arrangement that just elevates this already-stunning and beloved theme :')) the entire band absolutely killed it, and Chloe's playing took my breath away
Love it when this channel introduces me to themes I hadn't heard before. What a beautiful arrangement, and I can't state enough how much I like SovanJedi's animations, they're always a real treat for the eyes.
My favorite arrangement so far besides maybe delphino plaza. The flugelhorn adds so much character here and it sounds like an incredible journey from beginning to end.
The composition is just...sublime. Amazing work, and Chloe Rowlands is incredibly talented. This is one of my favorite TH-cam channels, I'm so happy this exists
Beautiful as always! Love to see everyone's passion playing each their own instruments! Always a pleasure to see Natalie on the piano, and Jared on the drums, playing in harmony with everyone else! KEEP BEING YOU - ALL OF YOU ❤
Fantastic job, as always, making me nostalgic for a song I've never heard before (though it does remind me a bit of the ending theme of the Incredible Hulk TV show...) Also, so glad to see the multi-talented Kyra Sims back on French Horn! I thought she'd gotten so busy with all of her other pursuits that she wasn't working with y'all anymore. I mean, it was a blink and you'll miss it cameo at 2:53, but a pleasant return nonetheless. Keep up the stellar work. Looking forward to more Grammys!
Yeah we love Kyra! She of course is an incredibly busy and absolutely incredible horn player, but also not every chart of ours uses horn (sadly haha) but you know the genre dictates whether I need it or not, but when I DO need it she is the first person I call :)
Everybody's first Final Fantasy is special...and this was mine. My brother had lent our N64 to a friend in exchange for his PS1. FF7 was one of the games borrowed and to that point I didn't get why people liked FF games; I was a Zelda guy. One day I decided to give this game just ten minutes...and that's all it took. I just had to know what was gonna happen next. I finally understood what my friend's knew all along. Thank you for the memories!
Holy shit, that Flugelhorn tone is SO good! So smooth! And the animations are so cute! I don't know why they are in there because they are not the focus of the video but they still make everything better ^^
New on my list of things I didn't know that I needed in my life: going full Nelson Riddle on Uematsu-san. Boy does this work. Lovely flugelhorn playing, too.
One of the best renditions of any video game song I've ever heard. Sensationally good. Stopped my day dead in its tracks and made me listen intently more than once. Beautiful work!
Barret trying to play pinball with a gun arm went about as well as you’d expect 😂 Beautiful arrangement! FF7 is still my favorite game after all these years, and I’m always happy to see it represented.
Thanks everyone 🥲💕
that was absolutely incredible, you knocked it out the park 👏 🙌
Amazing job!!!!! I feel like people typically think of the trumpet as this loud, bombastic instrument. But you make it sound so tender and beautiful.

Unreal Performance. 🔥🔥
It is a beautiful performance
Amazing! It was a magnificent performance.
This album is going to be absolutely killer
I literally cannot wait

@@hurgcat it comes out on Nov 10
@jackschooley6966 oh wow where did that get announced? Thanks for the info my guy!
No filler.
This gives me chills. Hopefully we'll see more FF7 music in the future.

So glad you enjoyed!! Yeah I think the waltz brings a little more motion to it while maintaining the romance
You might also like to check out the extremely soothing lo-fi version from The Consouls on their Vinyl Fantasy album.

i am playing it for the dance with my mom at my wedding next month teeheehee no one shall know
Chloe's got such a warm tone. Perfect for Tifa's theme.

The perfect gift to drop on Uematsu-sama's birthday. Another marvelous arrangement, bravo 8BBB!
Beautiful playing Chloe 😀🎺 And everyone else too .
❤❤❤
That really brought a lot of "Eyes on Me" feel out in the song occationally it almost sounded like a medley.
Love that you pulled from the “Square Enix Jazz” arrangement and infused some of that!
Man this is beautiful - Chloe's flugel playing is incredible!
AMAZING PERFORMANCE ONCE AGAIN EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!! THIS ALBUM IS GONNA GO SO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cried when listening to this live in ny, and am honestly surprised by how much emotion the studio version managed to capture - pulled my heart strings real tight this time.
I give tears for a life I never lived. For a town that never existed. And a girl who never really cared.
A song never really sung
That is some outstanding flugelhorn playing!
I’m a trombone student at the University of Oklahoma. To be able to play in an ensemble like this is my life’s dream…
Chloe stans rise up
🥲❤️
Anyone super impressed by the Flugelhorn's tone should check out Chuck Mangione's albums. Very good stuff.
i’ve never heard this song, but it is gorgeous. common 8 bit big band W
This was an incredible arrangement, and Chloe KILLED IT. Fantastic performance, thank you
Chloe jacket is awesome.
I loved the FFTactics-esque animations! Of course great job to the soloist and all the musicians as well.
This better get nominated at the grammys
I'm seriously still not over this cover. Imagine this is your theme song and someone plays it with this much love
Getting real emotional over this theme. Thanks for the beautiful music.
