This video has such great advice for starting non profit as well as understanding the grant writing process. Amber you are a great communicator. I'm so glad I worked with a mentor before starting our non profit, but the advice that you provide in your videos is exceptional. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience.
This was an awesome video, very informative, and I feel that with your advice, and following those steps when writing a Grant Proposal, One can possibly Achieve that which they aim for. Thanks for the video, I feel a little more confident in doing My own proposal!
You know churches in Liberia are not focusing on the teaching of the children and for a very long time I have been having this dreams to actually bring up these children as magnated in the Bible so prayed about it and I was able to start just 2 months ago I actually have now up to 103 of them today class some parents came they some membership forms every one in the community right now calling me can I bring my children too? I'm like saying let's wait I will get to you people soon because I have limited materials for now, so what do I do now in this case
Just getting into grant writing, so thank you so much for this video. I've only written one grant in college as an exercise, so I'm not sure where to start.
I'd say start with the project / program / organization you are trying to write a grant for! Do they have a solid program, ways to measure success, etc.?
Wow, I'd have to say I've applied for at least 100-150 over several years.. have gotten maybe 30ish? I'd have to look. Grants are pretty competitive (as I talk about in the video!).
1 question please. Can I established a mother company of Let's say Company A-music, arts, mental health, entertainment. Underneath the mother company is Company b- non profit or philanthropic arm of mother company... Or should I just register the company A as a non profit to make things easier. Thank you.
You can register a separate nonprofit, but that nonprofit will have to follow certain rules and won't be able to feed business into the for-profit company.
Hello Amber, thanks for providing essential answers for the grant application. I love the way you answer which is very logical, and approachable. I just wonder if you have some other idea for a very new non-profit organization, trying to get grand by the donor, since I am planning to start a new grant. thank you in advance
I will say for new nonprofits, grants may not be as easy to get. You should probably start with building up a case for individual donations, sponsorships, or even a virtual event!
If I'm able to have a conversation with them, sharing what my org does and asking them more about the efforts they have funded in the past will help me understand what my chances are in submitting a grant!
Grants are good to help fund or boost funding for something special usually, but they are very competitive and hard to obtain, and you must spend the money exactly how you promise the grant funder you would, so they can also be a bit restrictive. I would recommend looking at a variety of ways to raise money for a nonprofit, not just grants!

Thank you for posting x
You’re welcome 😊
Very informative indeed
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video. I would like to ask you whether there is a difference between Project proposal and Grant writing?
I'm not sure what you mean? A "proposal" might be a word you use for grant writing also... though it also has other uses.
@@AmberMelanieSmith Thank you very much
Amber, how many grants have you applied for and how many have you win so far..?

You are most welcome!
What’s the name of the nonprofit you founded?
What are some questions you ask grant givers?

Thanks a lot.

what are the advantages to grant funding? x
