Thank you so much for this! Just so happen to have the same Motherboard and GPU so this was super helpful. I was having trouble with getting a signal at first without realizing I had 2 harddrive without any OS installed, got that fixed and was brought to the bios screen. From there it was all you. Thanks man!
This actually helped me to speed it up. Because I'm already familiar with everything just not with gigabyte. But not everyone is as familiar but either way this video was helpful!!!
Always a pleasure my friend, so very happy you stopped by, trusted in me to help you, liked and subbed as well as took a moment out of your day to thank me. It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you.
Awesome vid bro, working on my first build and you've made what could have been such an overwhelming process so much more manageable. Really appreciate the slow step by step process, your channel is easily worth subscribing to.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support my friend, it means the world to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Coming off of another horrible viewer commenting into this comment, ahhh, you have made my day, thank you so much my friend and I am so happy I could help and I thank you so much for the support.
Wanted to say thanks. First time I’ve ever built a PC from scratch. Followed your videos from start to finish and saved myself a ton building everything myself. Much appreciated!

You are the very reason I started this channel and I am so very happy I could give you the confidence to do it on your own, thank you so much for letting me know, you've helped start my day off right ;)
Hello My friend, sorry I did not see this comment, you might get a lot of comments missed if you comment on another persons post, you should always try to start your own post on a video. That might be a very difficult one, since I dont have the board, but you should be OK, setting the CPU to Auto and memory to XMP.
@@ThisBytesForYou Can i ask you what is i slot 4 slot of ram with 2 different brand 2x8 is same another 2x8 pair is same...will this not to be recommend? Or should I stick all 4 ram for the same??
ahhh well so very happy I could help you my friend and you are partially right though. OEM Activation is tied to the motherboard so if you moved the motherboard from a Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc, to another machine the activation would follow and you could install windows. Motherboards you buy at the store don't have that, so you need to buy a copy or at least you would be able to use the free installer for a few months, here is the installer if you need help finding and creating the media: th-cam.com/video/C759I7DBXd8/w-d-xo.html
Thanks my friend, yeah I am not here to impress anyone or make myself look smarter, I make these videos to help everyone out so I hope it helped you as well.
yes, and if its a new PC, yes I do recommend reinstalling windows, if not you are using windows from an older chipset, so you will have remnants on it, and it will cause slow downs and blue screens.. Maybe you are looking for this: th-cam.com/video/8JuC_Dpm6-c/w-d-xo.html
Your the best in explaining computer building. As a 77 yr old, building my first computer, I for one like the slow pace, just my preference. I was finally able to buy my GPU...there for awhile I thought maybe I might not live long enough to get one but I now have a complete system. After watching many of your videos I came across a question I don't think Ive seen asked before. Do you have to have a keyboard and mouse that is wired into the system on your FIRST start up of your new system or can you use a wireless keyboard and mouse?
Awesome my friend, i am so very happy I could help you, it means the world to me that I could help you and that you took a moment out of your day to thank me, that is amazing. I am also very excited for you, I remember my first build, it not only felt great to do that, but I felt so proud of myself, a great feeling for sure. As for the wireless keyboard and mouse, yes, if they are good ones, cheapy ones may not work as well. I just did it with my dell ones, maybe not the highest quality, but not horrible and they worked perfectly fine, they are wireless, but still, its good to have a backup set of wired keyboard and mouse, just in case. Thanks again my friend. I hope you are subscribed as well, so you can catch up with all my latest videos, I just released another build video and cabling video. Newer camera, let me know what you think. (still getting used to the settings though).
Good evening, dear excellent video, do you know how to deactivate the integrated video through the Bios of the same board? It would be a huge help from you, I have the Asus crosshair 8 dark hero. Greetings!!
Hello my friend, To disable the onboard video on the Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero motherboard, Go into the BIOS and Navigate to "Advanced Settings": Once in the BIOS, switch to the Advanced tab. Go to NB/SA Configuration: Look for the NB Configuration or SA Configuration section, depending on whether your CPU is AMD or Intel. Adjust IGFX/iGPU Settings: Find the IGFX Multi-Monitor or iGPU Multi-Monitor setting and change it to Disabled1. Please note that these steps are general and the exact names of the settings may vary slightly. I no longer have this board, this video is a bit older. Remember to save your changes before exiting the BIOS. This will ensure that the onboard video is disabled and your system uses the discrete graphics card for video output.
Just wanted to thank you for this video and the previous one, you really did help me a lot on my build journey! I learned everything I needed to finish my PC, and the resutl is awesome, thank you my friend!

It is because you have liquid cooling. With liquid cooling you are not using the cpu fan header, you have to set that on ignore under the monitor in the bios, I show that in the video
Awesome my friend, so very happy I could help you. Thank you so much for checking it out, liking and subbing as well as your incredibly kind comment, it means the world to me.
Thank you so much for making this in details video! Really save me so much time. Currently waitin for my crosshero 8. Thank you so much sir! Really appreciate ur video. Definitely gonna save this video for my future references
You are so very welcome my friend, I am so very happy I could help you, it is completely my pleasure. I have a few videos of this build but I will have more soon.
First time PC builder here. I just got the same motherboard but the dark hero configuration. Thank you so much for this video. I had an issue with the pc always booting into the bios but it turned out it was because I didn't go into the bios and ignore the cpu fan (I installed an aio cooler). Thanks once again.
awesome bud, so very happy I could help you, it means the world to me that you let me know. The Dark and this board are VERY similar, almost identical with a few very minute differences, but I have a lot of build and wiring guides here that may help you as well. If you see something I might be missing, just let me know, I have over 400 videos, I am sure I have something that will help you.

I always update the BIOS, it fixes so many things, people recommend to not update the BIOS unless it's necessary, but to me, if it fixes something, I flash it and its rare that I have issues.
hey my windows wont open bye its self i have it set on the ssd i have windows on boot option 1. but every time i restart my pc i have to do a boot override, I need help :(
Hahah, well I want to thank you first my friend, it is awesome to know I could help you and it is completely my pleasure. I have a ton of videos I have made for this and many more, I have over 400 videos with different pc related stuff so I am sure I have more that can help. I also come out with videos every week, and if I don't have something you would like to see, let me know, maybe I can make it. Thanks so much my friend, and please do consider liking the video and subscribing, Thank you.
I really appreciate the step by step process as you go through every single detail one by one. I had such an issue with booting my new pc and couldn't figure out why and one simple step you did fixed it all so thx

This is a well structured and informative video, nicely done. I have this same board and same case but the XL version, also 3900x paired with a 3090 (msi suprim x). I had a massive issue with my cpu overheating all the time and getting random bsods ever since I upgraded from a 1080Ti to the 3090. My old fan setup was 280mm rad at the top exhausting, 3 fans on the bottom and 3 fans on the side as intake and 1 rear exhaust (7x corsair LL120mm fans+2 stock nzxt kraken x62 fans on the rad). That is considered to be the best fan setup by many, people say that top should always be exhaust, which is something that I believed too but with a 400w gpu that is simply not the case. Basically, my cpu was overheating because of all the heat that was exhausting through the rad from both the gpu and cpu (which is also why I was getting bsods only when both of these components were under stress) the fix to that issue was to rotate the 3 side fans to be exhaust instead of intake and the radiator fans, this is the part that might sound insane, to be INTAKE. That dropped my cpu temps by 10-15c and my gpu runs only 2-3c hotter, also no more bsods. I am leaving this here in case anyone has a similar issue, a 3090 outputs a lot of heat, so if you are not watercooling it, and you have a 280mm rad that can only fit on the top of the case it might very well be a better idea to have it intake instead of exhaust, also do keep in mind that you are not cooling the 60c+ hot cpu, you are cooling the 30c liquid.
Thanks my friend, but as you can see i have the same unit basically that you have, never had a single issue, it sounds like your BIOS might be setup incorrectly, you did not have proper contact with the coldplate, thermal paste or something, AMD BIOS' are VERY finicky (more so around the Memory). This case, with the side fans blowing in keep my system AMAZINGLY cool. I seriously think you have other issues, are you overclocked? Thanks so much for the complement my friend, but I would love to get you running stable. What kind of memory do you have, how do you have it configured in the BIOS, are you overclocked? Maybe the XL is VEYR different, but I don't think so, but I haven't touched that one.
@@ThisBytesForYou I've updated to the latest bios which did not fix the issue, update all the drivers, still nothing. I have re-mounted the aio and re-applied the thermal paste (Kryonaut) and still had the same issues, again, before I got the 3090 the cpu was running cool, there were 0 issues with the system. I would list everything I tried but it's quite a lot, if you are interested here's the link to a forum where people have advised me to swap the fans around, which seems like it worked perfectly as so far after many hours of playing games I had no bsods and no insane temps: forums.tomshardware.com/threads/irql_not_less_or_equal-bsod-and-pfn_list_corrupt-bsod-errors-during-gaming.3689396/page-2?view=date It's a long read but it is interesting as it's not a common issue.
@@ThisBytesForYou I just realised I accidentally linked page 2 of the forum, if you want more detail please do check out page 1 as it contains quite a lot of troubleshooting that I tried. Sorry about that.
that is incredibly odd, maybe the XL is VERY different, I haven't had any issues what so ever on this, I am in love with, I wanted to get the XL to review,.... but maybe not, actually, yeah I really do now to point this out to LianLi, though I am sure by now they already know. I was a Product Development Engineer for Alienware, then later Dell when they bought us and then afterwards Velocity Micro. At velocity Micro we had a great relationship with LianLi but part of my job at all 3 places was to work on pre-released stuff and recommend things to the manufacturers, fix their issues and stuff like that, it was a great gig.
@@ThisBytesForYou It would be interesting to see if you'd face the same issue, I'd imagine that with the heat of a gen 4 nvme ssd mounted right above the gpu I'd bsod even faster with my rad exhausting. As far as I know the only difference between o11 and o11 xl is that the xl has a spot for a rear fan and is slightly bigger, which shouldn't be a bad thing. I don't know, some of these issues I've had during the last couple years.. its insane how obscure they get.
chances are, he had 3800mhz or higher RAM. Anything over 1800Mhz on the infinity fabric can potentially cause this. So your friend will need to reset/clear their CMOs to be able to get back in the BIOS to make these changes. What is the speed of the RAM your friend has? This video might help you: th-cam.com/video/RnbMHHR0E_g/w-d-xo.html
Really fantastic video; I've done a number of Intel builds before, but this is my first AMD. I particularly liked your explanations of the BIOS settings for DOCP and the Gen4 devices. I'd have taken me awhile to figure those out. Also the part about downloading the chipset drivers from AMD and not ASUS. Great stuff for an AMD noob like me. I also have the Crosshair VIII Hero; but I have had one issue that I've been stumped on for the past 2 days. My bios doesn't recognize any of the Sata harddrives I installed. These are both WD 6TB harddrives I pulled from my old Intel build; they're both storage and neither is bootable. SATA is enabled in BIOS, I used the power cables that came with the PSU, the SATA cables from the motherboard box. Tried switching the SATA ports, changing the power cables, and changing the SATA cables. Nothing has worked. My boot drive is an NVME in M2 slot 1, with an RTX 3080 in PCIE slot I. Using the current ASUS v3003 bios. No matter what I do, the BIOS just says 'Not Present' in any of the ports I try.
Thanks my friend, it means a ton to me and don't feel bad, we were all noobs when we started, we've all been there, I truly appreciate your kind words. As for the drives, when they were on the other computer, were they in RAID, IDE, AHCI or NVME?
These were two identical WD 6TB 3.5 hard drives. They were in AHCI on the old machine, and the new machine is AHCI as well. I have a sneaking suspicion I fried both drives when I transferred them, because when I hooked them up to SATA power on the new machine, I used an old SATA power cable and not one that came with my new PSU. So when turning the power on, the new PSU didn't like the old cable, and hard stopped even posting. Power would turn on for a split second, and then the whole rig shut down. After a day of trying to figure out what the deal was, I started swapping cables out and used a new SATA power cable that came with the PSU. System started booting, but that's when the drives weren't showing up. So probably over the course of trying to power up the new machine with the old SATA cable, it fried the controllers in the old hard drives. So today, I hooked up an old SSD on the new machine, and BIOS saw the drive. Had an old 3.5 SATA hard drive I hooked up, it saw it as well. Tried putting the old drives back in the old machine and it couldn't see them, even swapping ports. So I guess I learned an expensive lesson in that if you get a new PSU, throw out every left over power cable and only use what comes with the new one.
ahhh yeah, I try to never use old cables, they never work out right, well I am so very happy you got everything working my friend, it means a ton to me that you let me know the outcome.
Thank you! I used this vid to help update bios on my new Z590E board and was finally able to get windows to install on my m.2 drive after a long 2 days. I appreciate the informative video!

the sata driver is what it needs to get better performance from your SSd's and I was so upset that they were corrupt, I downloaded them a few times, and each time corrupt. Hi i have built a pc with rogstrix crosshair hero viii wifi and ryzen 9 5900x with rtx 3070 iam trying to boot and enter bios but the keyboard inputs are not working keyboard is getting power
have you ever been able to or did this just start, did you enable Quick Boot? To get around it, you need to unplug all the cables in the back, USB, Power, HDMI/DP, ethernet, everything, then remove the CMOS battery and wait 1 minute (60 seconds), after that, plug in all the cables and then the CMOS battery and turn the machine back on. This will change your settings in the BIOS from the settings you entered back to default settings so you will need to place all the settings back in the BIOS, do not enable Quick Boot though. I hope this helps.

I have a question, why when you go to download the drivers for the motherboard you do not download them all and you only download the audio, lan, utilities, sata and the armory crate?? I understand for the chipset but for the others I do not.
because for video and chipset, I get them straight from the source, to make sure the manufacturer (Asus, AsRock, MSI, etc) hasn't put garbage into it. @TheAlienwaredude I will see what I can do, these take HOURS to make and edit, and I have a lot to catch up on, but I will make it, a generalized video. Please realize, with my channel and everyone else's channel, we make videos to get a lot of views, to get paid, if we get little views, we get little money, I pay thousands to get the equipment to make the videos about and to make the videos with, so I like getting paid, make videos people won't watch.... sorry, wrong channel. I love helping my friend, I really do, but I need to make money to support the channel, I have a day job too to pay for my house, my wife and kids wants and needs, and my car and my wires car, and my dogs, I barely have time to spend with them... so make a video that not many people will watch, thats a little insulting. As for the fan header, its not a fan, you have to set the CPU Fan to ignore the RPM, because its liquid cooling, as for the video... I am incredibly confused as to what is going on. Also, I left Alienware because I didn't get a raise when Dell bought us, it was only 6 months into the Dell acquisition and after 7 years afterwards at Velocity Micro, I chose to leave to relieve a little of the stress, working as product development is incredibly stressful, I also managed all product reviews.

Hey I just built my PC from the ground up and I have some good parts on my PC but I’m trying to start Windows 10 and only thing that’s stopping me from doing that is I got a USB and I got windows 10 from another PC put on the USB and I plugged it into my PC I’m trying to put it on and it doesn’t look like it wants to even try to download it was look like it was the boot of a ride but it’s not actually giving me windows so how do you do that

Hey I get it all set up and once I turn my pc off and turn it back on it goes straight to BIOS again and I have to repeat the thing all over again how do I fix this been at it for hours
This is my first time ever building a PC and I did a mini ITX for my first build probs not a good starter so this has been very stressful hope you can solve my issue thank u man
Here’s the sequence everything is happening in Order. I finished the set up and I am now on the normal Windows Home Screen desktop. I turn it off then back on. Instead of booting to windows it goes to my BIOS Then I go to boot page and click the windows manager boot file whatever it’s called and manually boot windows that way and it brings me back to my Windows page
sorry my friend, youtubes notification system is HORRIBLE, they never sent me notification of a bunch of messages here and as I am scrolling threw I am seeing many I missed, answering everyone now. Have you been able to get this resolved?
Hi again, I've gotten to the stage of accessing bios and what not, but I was never able to get the windows 10 prompt thing to open, I'm using an external usb disc drive with a windows 10 disc. When I boot up the computer it shows the windows logo, disappears then shows a white blinking line in the top left corner.
Follow this guide, I highly recommend creating the windows 10 drive correctly: th-cam.com/video/C759I7DBXd8/w-d-xo.html. I Highly recommend flashing the latest BIOS then follow what I show you here, important to follow the memory

The only way it will show in your bios is if it has a windows boot manager, also it may not show correctly if you came from intel to AMD and vise versa because of the HAL.
So that I can help, please list the manufacturer and exact model number of the following components: 1. Motherboard 2. CPU 3. RAM 4. Video Card 5. Power supply 6. SSD (all the ones you have, including SSD and M.2 SSDs)
Motherboard: ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz RAM: 16GB of DIMM Ram (the model on it says gskill if that helps any) Video Card: (assuming you mean my graphics card) GTX 1660 Power Supply: I completely forgot which one I have since my PC isn't a prebuilt. I should also note I can booth my PC into safe mode and it seems to not want to blue screen as for having it in safe mode for the last 3 hours. I also fully wiped my PC last night to make sure it wasn't caused by some sort of malware or something along those lines. Still does it without warning or reasoning unfortunately. I just have it on my desktop for 5 minutes without doing anything and it blue screens. SSD: V-NAND SSD 970 EVO
Ok, It would have helped to get the model number of the RAM, but I will work with what I have (gskill is the manufacturer). So in the BIOS, go over to AI Tweaker and set AI Overclocker Tuner to DOCP, it would really help to know the model number so I can tell you if its too fast, the FCLCK NEEDS to be under 1800Mhz, so after setting DOCP, save and exit and see about booting into windows.. As for the power supply, you should know even more what model it is if you built it, its harder to help if I don't know what I am helping with, you have everything in front of you, I don't.
If you followed instructions correctly your PC would be working, several thousands of people as you can see have gotten this working, what did you do differently? If you need help, you can ask and I can help but let's get passed the blame game, k?
@n64slayer so you cant expect the same results right, and you cant use the same bios. Find out the exact manufacturer and model number of your board and write it here so I can help you. Also, good job editing your initial comment.

Whats the difference between this board and the soon to be released ROG CROSSHAIR VIII DARK HERO? I have not used an AMIBIOS for years are they ok? Didnt like them in the past.
the dark has a passive heatsink over the chipset which means it will be 2% hotter than the regular hero and a tiny bit more quiet, some people need it to be totally silent, even though the other noise in your system (power supply, liquid cooling pump, fans, video card fans, ect will drown it out anyway) and more power stages for better overclocking which seems kind of backwards to me since the chipset will get hotter when you overclock. The accents are black instead of silver. As for AMI, I have always preferred AMI since it had better tools for modifying the BIOS on the backend but 99% of people using this will not be modifying the BIOS on the backend. Both boards will be great though.

Good evening, dear excellent video, do you know how to deactivate the integrated video through the Bios of the same board? It would be a huge help from you, I have the Asus crosshair 8 dark hero. Greetings!!
Hello my friend,
To disable the onboard video on the Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero motherboard, Go into the BIOS and Navigate to "Advanced Settings": Once in the BIOS, switch to the Advanced tab.

Great series...Thank you!
So very happy you enjoyed it my friend, thank you for your kind words

I would list everything I tried but it's quite a lot, if you are interested here's the link to a forum where people have advised me to swap the fans around, which seems like it worked perfectly as so far after many hours of playing games I had no bsods and no insane temps: forums.tomshardware.com/threads/irql_not_less_or_equal-bsod-and-pfn_list_corrupt-bsod-errors-during-gaming.3689396/page-2?view=date
It's a long read but it is interesting as it's not a common issue.
For some reason when my friend clicked save changed and reset his screen wouldn’t turn back on and the dram light on the motherboard turned on
chances are, he had 3800mhz or higher RAM.
So I guess I learned an expensive lesson in that if you get a new PSU, throw out every left over power cable and only use what comes with the new one.
ahhh yeah, I try to never use old cables, they never work out right, well I am so very happy you got everything working my friend, it means a ton to me that you let me know the outcome.

what is a sata driver and why is it corrupt?
the sata driver is what it needs to get better performance from your SSd's and I was so upset that they were corrupt, I downloaded them a few times, and each time corrupt. The Asus armory crate has an update feature that will scan your system, which I normally hate doing, and will update everything for you, it works well actually.

have you ever been able to or did this just start, did you enable Quick Boot?

Hey I just built my PC from the ground up and I have some good parts on my PC but I’m trying to start Windows 10 and only thing that’s stopping me from doing that is I got a USB and I got windows 10 from another PC put on the USB and I plugged it into my PC I’m trying to put it on and it doesn’t look like it wants to even try to download it was look like it was the boot of a ride but it’s not actually giving me windows so how do you do that
Well, make sure you are making the thumb drive correctly, check out this video and let me know if that helps..: th-cam.com/video/C759I7DBXd8/w-d-xo.html
Instead of booting to windows it goes to my BIOS
Then I go to boot page and click the windows manager boot file whatever it’s called and manually boot windows that way and it brings me back to my Windows page
it sounds like you dont have it set to boot off of the windows manager. Set it on your boot order to boot off of the windows manager.
@@ThisBytesForYou I have tried that one of the first things I’ve set it in order it still will not work
sorry my friend, youtubes notification system is HORRIBLE, they never sent me notification of a bunch of messages here and as I am scrolling threw I am seeing many I missed, answering everyone now.
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks for the help! So if I were to put it on to a usb stick, could I use the code what came with my windows 10 disc?

My M.2 shows in the system but doesn’t want to show as a boot device but I used it on my old pc with windows installed
The only way it will show in your bios is if it has a windows boot manager, also it may not show correctly if you came from intel to AMD and vise versa because of the HAL.
So updated my bios and now I just get blue screened randomly with no patterns or solid reasoning. Any ideas how to fix it?
So that I can help, please list the manufacturer and exact model number of the following components:
1. Motherboard
2. CPU
3. RAM
4. Video Card
5. Power supply
6. SSD (all the ones you have, including SSD and M.2 SSDs)
Motherboard: ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.60 GHz
RAM: 16GB of DIMM Ram (the model on it says gskill if that helps any)
Video Card: (assuming you mean my graphics card) GTX 1660
Power Supply: I completely forgot which one I have since my PC isn't a prebuilt.
I dont have an option to change the boot option and now im stuck in bois forever
If you followed instructions correctly your PC would be working, several thousands of people as you can see have gotten this working, what did you do differently? If you need help, you can ask and I can help but let's get passed the blame game, k?

First, make a Windows 10 thumb drive like I show you on this video: th-cam.com/video/C759I7DBXd8/w-d-xo.html
Then, take pics of all your screens in the BIOS since it will erase your settings in the BIOS, then update your BIOS to the latest version: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b450-f-gaming-model/helpdesk_bios
Next, after flashing, go into the BIOS, go to the exit section and select "Load Optimal defaults", save and exit then go back in the BIOS
In the BIOS, press F7 to enter Advanced mode
Go to "AI Tweaker" set "AI Overclock Tweaker" to "D.O.C.P Standard"
Under "Boot Menu" set CSM to Auto, its different on different board models
Set "Boot Device Control" top "UEFI Only"
Set "Boot from Storage Devices" to "UEFI Driver First"
Set "Boot from PCI-e Expansion Devices" to "UEFI driver first"
Disable Secure Boot
Save and Exit, then reinstall windows 10 with the thumb drive I just had you create.

@@ThisBytesForYou Thank you for taking the time to explain the differences between both motherboards.
