Thank you so much for your kind words and support my friend, it means the world to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Also, that is one of the reasons I started this channel, at 13, the internet was not really out... I had to learn everything on my own... my uncles and step father knew about computers, but didn't have time for me.... so I had to teach myself everything. Fast forward a few years, youtube came out, and there were a few tech channels, and every knew how to do stuff and said, here is easy, look and flew threw things, didn't really show it, which to me means they don't know either, but that's a different story. I would see in the comments people saying thanks so much for the help, but I have this question, stuff they would fly over in the videos, and they would never get answered, so that made me want to make this channel. I was a reviewer initially with Dragonblogger, you will find a lot of my videos there (I started ThisBytesForYou 5 years ago, so it would be after that but I am still very close with Justin Germino, the owner of Dragonblogger) then I came here and did everything on my own but with my focus on teaching everything I could, I am so very happy I could help you.
@@ThisBytesForYou interesting! Thanks for sharing your journey with the pc world..its so great that we are getting your extensive knowledge basically for free. For somone like me who is going to build the first pc ever. This is invaluable. Other channels only focus on fancy editing , music lights and high production quality just to get more and more subscribers since that sells well to attract wider audience. They barely reply to comments and are always looking for hot topics to cover without any substantial knowledge to be shared! Although I do enjoy those videos at times to get some news briefly but the real stuff is what you are doing with your channel for sure! Keep up the good work and sharing your knowledge 👏 I am sure this channel is bound to grow more 🙌
@@abhisheksakpal484 thanks so much my friend for wording it all so well, this is exactly what I am going after. I don't care about pretty lights and fancy editing (mind you, I will get there is video quality one day) but I want to focus on what's good for my audience, to help you overcome your fears in all things PC. I am pushing so hard to help as many people as I can and yeah, trying really hard to have it grow as well, it would help tons if you could share my videos, tremendously as word of mouth is the best advertisement. Also as for commenting yes, it upsets me all the channels that have all the good stuff, but won't help if you have a question, they don't care about their audience, and I get if they don't answer a few comments, I miss some too, youtube is horrible about notifications, but they dont reply to any. Those channels rely on their own audience to help other viewers but the problem is many will give bad advice and I want to make sure to help everyone with good information and they can share that information with their friends, knowing that it is correct. I am so very happy you enjoyed this video and my content, it means the world to me my friend, thank you so much.
You don't need to power up the MOBO to updates it's BIOS. One simply puts the MOBO updater drive in the rear USB port marked "BIOS", and hold the button for 3 seconds. Wait a few mins for the LED to stop lighting up, and once the light stays off it's done. Great video, though!
that is if your CPU is not supported, it's called BIOS flashback, you cannot do that if your CPU is supported. Thanks for the compliments as well, and I am so happy you enjoyed it.

Great video, but I have a question. I have the same mobo as in the video, and it keep POSTing in safe mode. How do I boot to windows without a fresh install?
There is no save and reset, save and exit is what you do. If you don't have an os on that drive, it will boot from the thumb drive with windows on it. Do you have that?
you will need a product key later, the windows 10 install will last you for a few months then you will see the windows 10 water mark, after about 6 months or so, the performance will start to drop and you will need to either enter your product key, or just wipe and reload the operating system.
Always a pleasure my friend, and yes, you can flash the bios without messing with your OS but just know you will need to reset the BIOS afterwards, so it might be a good idea to take screenshots for later.
Hi there i have a problem . i have got to the stage of installing windows and i need to bw connected to the internet. For some reason my annetnna is not being recognised by the OS and i dont have access to Ethernet ... how can i get round this. i feel like the drivers have not been recognised in the BIOS for WIFI
you need to get the drivers, sorry, but there is no way around it. Maybe you can download them on your phone and use a cable to connect your phone to your pc and transfer the drivers?
Excellent video man. Thanks for making it so clear. Now, a question, did you experience any issues with your LAN port? Disconnecting, losing packages, Windows not recognizing it? I don't have this Motherboard yet, I was planning to get it, buy I read that people have issues with the internet connection because of the Intel LAN Chipset. Thanks in advance.
thanks so much my friend, so very happy you enjoyed it. If you do experience this, Uninstall the LAN drivers it has now, then rescan for drivers and let windows pic it up, that should help. This was the issue they were having
@@ThisBytesForYou thanks for your quick response, didn't buy it yet, but IF I find this problem I'm doing this. I've read on Reddit, that a guy downloaded the LAN drivers directly from the Intel site. This is for anyone having this issue.
@@fergatoreyvirgo always a pleasure my friend, well this is one of those things where I hate asus for re-writting the installer. The problem is they are not tapping the INF file correctly, you can manually point to the INF and install it correctly through the device manager and it would work perfectly, Intel has of course kept their installer perfect which is why it works.
when you installed all the drivers from Amd why didn't you install the Raid driver I see you installed the raid Installer but not the one called Raid Driver. I'm just curious why that was
yes it is, but a bios update is not only for processor support, but a bunch of features and function fixes and updates. If your going to Zen 3, then you need to update before then.
chances are it will not come with the latest bios just yet, mine did not but yes it will support the 3600 out of the box and anytime my friend, I always love helping.

At 9:52 in the video, I see you download the Beta Version of the bios and not the latest released version. Was that intentional? Debating on installing beta 2420 or released 2407.
I don't see what version I would have gotten, but I would always get the latest, even if it was the beta BIOS. I come from a product development background, I like to have the latest.
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks, I now have the mother board working with the latest (beta) bios with AMD 5700G APU. I had to take things a little slower downloading the drivers and put each one in a clearly named folder. I found some of those file names were not obvious. I did not install ASUS utilities nor the armoury crate. I have no LED lighting effects and a case with no window. I saw posts on Reddit that made me pause when it came to installing the ASUS software. Those posts also expressed frustration with it's removal. I have the 3rd revision (3) I225-V network chip. I am getting a Samsung 970 Evo 1tb m.2. do I need to do the Link thing and what gen do I do At 5:06 you changed something from auto to x4. What does this do? Do I need to do it for the 3060ti fe? Can I just enable DOCP and be done? Do I need to hold down the bios flash button? What is SB link mode and do I need to change it? Sincerely, Zander Sachs
x4 would have been for the video card and the M.2 drive, the TI' is a x4 card. Yes, enable DOCP and it will take care of you. SB Link mode keeps the cards at the same PCIE speed.
I see the way you have your ram installed. Does this motherboard prefer the ram be in slot 2-4 instead of 1-3 ? Numbered from closest to cpu to furthest
Most motherboards prefer 2 and 4, without the one at 2, your PC won't boot up, BUT not all boards are the same. Make sure to read the manual for your board or the board you are considering purchasing.
@@ThisBytesForYou I have the same board as shown in this video! I have gotten my system to boot a few times but randomly it just won’t boot after building and I have my ram in slots 1/3 is why I ask. Going to try 2/4 now!
Can u help me? I have b550-e motherboard I just updated bios today 1401.This bios not good for me my mouse and keyboard are freezing. How can I downgrade my bios?
hmmm, doesn't make sense. So what you may need to do us unplug the power supply and your video cables (the cables coming from your monitor to your video card) then remove the CMOS battery for about 10 minutes or so, then put the cmos batter back in, then plug in all the cables, and turn on the machine, this will reset all the BIOS settings to default and everything should work.
@@Vozxko I am building a pc in a few weeks with the same board and seen people having that problem. There should be a bios button on the io panel and a white box around one of the usb ports, on a separate computer you have to download the new bios from asus and unzip the file to a flash-drive. Then you can put that flash drive into the white outlined usb port and I think you hold the circular button down for 3-5 seconds, a light will come on to tell you to stop and it is downloading. Once its done you should get a post.

@@Cluelessseafishing yes, that is because you don't have your BIOS in UEFI mode, you have it in legacy mode. Changing it might cause your OS not to boot again, try it and see what happens, if it fails, change it back to Legacy and we can work through that.

I already installed internet drivers too, not sure if I'm missing something or if it's just my ISP. But it's weird that I just started having this issue when I upgraded my PC
there are many potential reasons, starting with the easiest, did you completely wipe and reload that windows drive, or are you running the same install of windows from the Intel build?
@@ThisBytesForYou so previously I had one SSD and that is where I had windows. I recently bought an M.2 Evo Plus 1 TB SSD and that is where I installed windows. All my old SSD still had al my files in it including windows but it's no longer my primary boot.

Hi i have a question about bios flashing...let say i have ver 1.0 of the bios..And on the asus homepage there is bios ver 2.0,3.0,4.0 and 5.0..Do i need to update them in order or can i just jump to ver 5.0??? Peter
That is a great question my friend, but you would have to check that link. Read each of the BIOS' between the version you have an the latest, some BIOS' will say you need to flash to this version before you get to this version, but not all, so check first. Thanks so much for that great question.
@@its_isaac1557 I have no idea what you are talking about. go to the motherboard manufacturers website, like I show you in this video, download the latest bios, like I show you in this video, put the bios on a thumbdrive formated fat32, like I show you and the rest like I show you. Have you watched the video and followed the advice I mentioned, exactly (other than changing it from the motherboard I have, to the motherboard you have, make/model (I shouldn't have to say that though).
First off all thank you for this video, so far it's going great, came here because the audio file was copying over 1700+ items. It was a quick copy to the new file which was about a minute. Is that normal to have copied over 1000 items?
@@ThisBytesForYou it was the same one you did, but I believe it's fine. Maybe it downloaded files from 2012 till now😂, but I tested the Bluetooth audio and played with it and it seems fine for now. After installing windows the armoury crate software and all that other stuff just downloaded by itself. I didn't need to do anything. Only watched this video for the BIOS-flashing part tho. Nice tutorial. For anyone who is scared of fuckin' it up, there is a BIOS-Flashback button on the IO-Shield which is very, very nice.
yup, it helps a ton. I prefer not to let the crate do it by itself, because it uses what Asus deems suitable, meaning their own chipset and raid drivers, when it is ALWAYS best to get them direct from AMD.COM but as long as it works for you, that is all that maters. BIOS' have come a long way, sooooooo much easier now. So very happy you enjoyed it my friend.
@@ThisBytesForYou Good to know. Didn't have many driver-related problems, except for the nvidia drivers which crashed because Davinci Resolve couldn't handle the gaming drivers. Switching to studio drivers helped.
@@_karla._ thats very odd, I use Wondershare FIlmora X (I know, they are different) but I utilize the CUDA cores with the hardware acceleration and have no issues, actually I have been using filmora since version 6 and have had maybe only 3 crashes. @@ThisBytesForYou It was highly unstable using the gaming drivers. Rendering didn't work at all. So I installed the Studio drivers, then it worked like a charm. But changing drivers in the nvidia geforce experience is not complicated at all. Yeah, might check that gdrive vid out :)
I can't. seem to set up the network setting. I'm still unable to connect to wifi but I have all the drivers downloaded on an usb stick. Any recommendations?
right click on the start button, then click "device Manager", with the device manger open, click to expand the "Network adapters" section, then locate your device. Right click on the device, then click "Properties", then click the "Driver" tab, click "Update Drive", "Browse my computer for drivers" locate where you have extracted the files to on your thumb drive, then click OK and you will update that and it will work for you. Let me know how it goes my friend.

SO when you make the BIOS USB drive, it has to be created on a FAT32 thumb drive. As for windows 10, make sure you make the thumb drive like I show you in this video, th-cam.com/video/C759I7DBXd8/w-d-xo.html and the windows 10 install media and the BIOS flashing drive, cannot be the same drive, different formats.
because the chipset on AMD.... is the latest and greatest, because it is from AMD. From Asus, it is always older and has all the Asus garbage included. Make sense?
I just bios flashed my ASUS Dark Hero motherboard and it did go well..Do you now how i can put more bootoptions load into the Windows Boot Manager in the BIOS????????Has the CSM setting something to do with it?????
if you had CSM disabled, and you enabled it or visa versa, that will cause an issue. You can add more options in the Windows Boot Manager by working with the BCD tables. So the BIOS didn't go well, why, because you can't get into Windows? That can be many things. 1. Did you have UEFI enabled/disabled before, set it to what you had before 2. Was CSM disabled or enabled before, set it to what you had before 3. Do you have the correct drive in your boot options, if before it showed you drive name, you had UEFI set to Legacy, you need to set it back to legacy, save and exit

yes it would, but you would need to use the BIOS flash back to have it support the processor, out of the box it will not support it although it may now, but it did not originally. Regardless, easy enough to get to work, you should have not problems.

I have installed 2019 on a server, not on a desktop, though of course they are interchangable. You can use Windows 10 or 11 drivers in Server 2019 You can download 2019 from here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2019 Installing Server 2019 is similar to installing 10 or 11, so this guide should help.
Hello, I’m a beginner. Thanks for the video. Is what you do in the “setting up the bios on the asus rog strix” necessary or can I leave it at auto? Also should these setting shown by you remain the same post installation of drives?
there is a small chance auto would work, but you can try it. I make these videos for beginners, so it should help. The memory speed should be raised, as I lowered it, below XMP standards to cleanly install windows.
Well, your PC will work better if you did it before, but you can still do it now, after you have ran it for a while. Make sure you do it in the order I show you here, BIOS, Chipset, etc
What keyboard did you use? The keyboard I had laying around doesn't work...pressing F2 or Del or F1 doesn't work. The normal message after boot comes up, it recognizes that I have a kb and mouse, my M.2 and SATA drives, my processor, etc. but pressing F1 to enter setup doesn't work. Ctrl-Alt-Del to make it reboot works, but it goes right back to the same old thing, F1 doesn't work. It's an old Microsoft wireless USB keyboard from 2009, so that might be it, but what did YOU use?
sounds like you might have quick boot enabled in the BIOS, try removing the CMOS battery and disconnecting all the cables in the back of the machines, waiting a minute, (60 seconds) then plugging all the cables back in, the pop the CMOS battery back in and boot again, you should be able to enter the BIOS. You are correct about the M.2 and the SATA ports, not sure what you were going after though?
@@ThisBytesForYou Turns out that the keyboard was the problem. Went to my local Office Depot and bought a plain old USB wired KB and mouse (cheap Logitech) and got into the BIOS fine. Just wondered why you were enabling SATA 5&6 when the install of the 2nd M.2 disables those two. I suppose you were just showing what you would normally do without the second M.2. My config uses one 1 TB M.2 NVME PCIe 4.0 in the first slot and another 1TB SATA drive. Just couldn't justify the cost of a second M.2. Trying to save money and of course you can't touch a decent GPU for anything reasonable, so I went with a Ryzen 7 5700G APU from eBay (couldn't resist) at least for the time being, so I needed to do a BIOS flashback first to be sure it would work, which it did. I haven't built a computer in many years, so this was a big adventure. Had a lot of catching up to do.
@@jefftuckercfii oh yeah, I was enabling it for the 2nd one, even if it is enabled though, if there is no drive, the sata ports are still active, its only when you put in the m.2 that they deactivate. Thats a good idea, about the apu. I may ask for your opinion then on Mondays video, might be up your alley

So very happy I could help you my friend, drivers will need to be downloaded from the website, so hopefully you have another machine you can download them from and but on a thumb drive
@@ThisBytesForYou Thank you! Do you have any experience of the Wraith Prism stock cooler revving up? I also see some spikes in temparature from around 39-57 a few times when browsing, documents, installs. Can't really find the settings in the BIOS. Im on a 3700x. The setup is for my sis, going into the gaming world. The computer seems to run, gonna bench it very soon after I've updated the drivers for the 3070 within. Seen some minor black screens during browsing, I suspect that is the graphics needing some love (updates) or possible instability from the PSU. We'll see during the bench no doubt. Big thanks for your time.

@@ThisBytesForYou Many thanks! I deactivated the enhanced mode in bios, removed all the auto clocking done through the AI-3 desktop app, lowered the minimum power settings through windows from 100% to 20% and the maximum from 100% to 99%, which seems to have helped a lot of people. Not a new problem... I don't see any reason to push the CPU any more than needed, we'll see how it performs going forward. Thanks yet again, many hugs. But yeah, the stock cooler is a jet engine.
AMD recommends the users of DDR4-3600 to use FCLK at 1800 MHz for optimal performance with the infinity fabric.. FCLK, UCLK and MEMCLK are synchronized together, so it’s necessary that they sync properly and specifically, the 1:1 ratio should be maintained for optimized performance. You are given this message as well (the 1:1 ratio) when you set the ratio, you can go higher, which can be considered “synchronous” operation, up to 1,800MHz. You can of course go higher than 1,800, newer updates to the AGESA (BIOS Updates) have let you go to 2,000Mhz but over 1,800Mhz, you introduce a lot of stability issues. which is why during the video I recommend during an install, drop down to 3200Mhz, afterwards raise it to what ever you want it to be. Just remember, even though the bar has been raised to 2,00Mhz, it becomes flacky aftter 1,800. I hope this helps.

They barely reply to comments and are always looking for hot topics to cover without any substantial knowledge to be shared!

You don't need to power up the MOBO to updates it's BIOS. One simply puts the MOBO updater drive in the rear USB port marked "BIOS", and hold the button for 3 seconds. Wait a few mins for the LED to stop lighting up, and once the light stays off it's done.

Great video, but I have a question. I have the same mobo as in the video, and it keep POSTing in safe mode. How do I boot to windows without a fresh install?
what do you mean posting in safe mode? can you explain it so I can help you.
is this BIOS the same as B550-E
Might be, but I don't know for sure
The process would be the same, but you would select the e instead of the f
when you were installing the secondary SSD do I need to do this with a SATA drive
if it's the 2nd drive yes if not, you won't see it in windows.
I’m planning to use a m.2 500GB SSD for general use and a 1TB SATA for games and photos and anything storage consuming
sounds great to me.
Thank you so much!! Question: the latest BIOS does not have a save and reset/ only save and exit... so where do i go from there to install windows?
There is no save and reset, save and exit is what you do. If you don't have an os on that drive, it will boot from the thumb drive with windows on it. Do you have that?
if I download windows and use a flash drive instead of the product key will I face any problems in the future. or will I need to buy a product key
you will need a product key later, the windows 10 install will last you for a few months then you will see the windows 10 water mark, after about 6 months or so, the performance will start to drop and you will need to either enter your product key, or just wipe and reload the operating system.
thanks for the heads up

For some reason my annetnna is not being recognised by the OS and i dont have access to Ethernet ... how can i get round this. i feel like the drivers have not been recognised in the BIOS for WIFI

At 9:52 in the video, I see you download the Beta Version of the bios and not the latest released version. Was that intentional? Debating on installing beta 2420 or released 2407.

No sure what you mean copying 1700+ items, which file did you download?
@@ThisBytesForYou it was the same one you did, but I believe it's fine. Maybe it downloaded files from 2012 till now😂, but I tested the Bluetooth audio and played with it and it seems fine for now. If I do come across audio issues I'll report it to you. I really appreciate you replying on this 3 year old video man!

Get a Ethernet cable plug it into your pc
right click on the start button, then click "device Manager", with the device manger open, click to expand the "Network adapters" section, then locate your device. Right click on the device, then click "Properties", then click the "Driver" tab, click "Update Drive", "Browse my computer for drivers" locate where you have extracted the files to on your thumb drive, then click OK and you will update that and it will work for you. Let me know how it goes my friend.
some people don't have an ethernet cable or router nearby, so they need to WIFI. If he didn't I gave him the solution, but if he did, your method will work fine. Thanks for chiming in while I was out Legxndares.
@@ThisBytesForYou all issues resolved up and running was able to get a 3070 and for a reasonable price LFG

When I click on my drive it doesn’t let me load and when I try installing windows says that I’m missing files but I’m not idk how to fix it
SO when you make the BIOS USB drive, it has to be created on a FAT32 thumb drive. As for windows 10, make sure you make the thumb drive like I show you in this video, th-cam.com/video/C759I7DBXd8/w-d-xo.html and the windows 10 install media and the BIOS flashing drive, cannot be the same drive, different formats.
Hi ThisBytesForYou. Why do you use the chipset driver from AMD instead of the one from the motherboard website?
because the chipset on AMD.... is the latest and greatest, because it is from AMD. From Asus, it is always older and has all the Asus garbage included. Make sense?
Can I install bios with fully assembled computer from bios port in mother board pls advise
Yup
I just bios flashed my ASUS Dark Hero motherboard and it did go well..Do you now how i can put more bootoptions load into the Windows Boot Manager in the BIOS????????Has the CSM setting something to do with it?????
if you had CSM disabled, and you enabled it or visa versa, that will cause an issue. You can add more options in the Windows Boot Manager by working with the BCD tables. So the BIOS didn't go well, why, because you can't get into Windows? That can be many things.
1. Did you have UEFI enabled/disabled before, set it to what you had before
2. Was CSM disabled or enabled before, set it to what you had before
3. Do you have the correct drive in your boot options, if before it showed you drive name, you had UEFI set to Legacy, you need to set it back to legacy, save and exit
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks for the information.

Hey would this motherboard work with Ryzen 7 5800x
yes it would, but you would need to use the BIOS flash back to have it support the processor, out of the box it will not support it although it may now, but it did not originally. Regardless, easy enough to get to work, you should have not problems.
Hi thanks for all the tips ! i have a question : my audio drivers still not working , i m not the only one in that case , no audio in front panel by jack and behind too , no realtek showing up at all ! its hell waiting Asus support ! thanks if you have any solution !

I need to install windows server 2019 on asus rog strix b550 f. Any help
I have installed 2019 on a server, not on a desktop, though of course they are interchangable. You can use Windows 10 or 11 drivers in Server 2019
You can download 2019 from here: www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2019
Installing Server 2019 is similar to installing 10 or 11, so this guide should help.
The person who installed my windows after assembling my PC did none of this. Should I reinstall?
Thank you for the guide, just built a setup with one, but I have issues connecting to the web. Anyone else? It connects to the network but can't "identity" / or missing IP config. Drivers from the disk are not installed, straight from W10 install.

Hey it looks like I can’t read into the file how can I fix that
Also I don’t get that bottom file I get system volume information
Format the thumb drive as fat32, and what bottom file are talking about.
Why should FCLK frequency be half the speed of the RAM?
@@ThisBytesForYou thanks
