      @@yvetteschaerer Just now coming back and seeing this. It was the size of a crumb of toast...I kid you not. I was shocked and also annoyed that something so small could cause so much discomfort and pain. I increased my water intake for two days and was in the process of the throat massage when it sort of "popped" (so gross!) and expelled itself. What followed can only be described as a rush of relatively salty water (accompanied with a somewhat metallic taste but there was no blood). The swelling went down within the hour and the pain relief was immediate. Side note: not sure what you mean by squeeze, but in my follow up with an ENT, I would say do not under any circumstances try to squeeze this out like a pimple.

    I have this right now. At first I thought it was a tooth infection - went to the dentist and was put on antibiotics but within 3 days the swelling and pain had spread and gotten much worse so I went back to the dentist and they were floored - told me I needed to go the ER for a surgical drain. I was completely freaking out, afraid it was full of infection and would rupture inside my jaw! So off to the ER I went, they did a CT Scan and discovered it was this blocked Salivary Gland and that there isn't any infection. Boy was I glad to hear that but let me tell you, this thing hurts! I just now got home from the ER and looked it up and now here I am. I haven't been able to eat or sleep in 3 days and swallowing hurts terribly but I will definitely go through that to drink lots of water starting right now! Calling the ENT doc tomorrow. This has been a crazy 3 days but I'm so glad to know what it is now and that it's NOT a big abscess full of "infection" that could burst at any moment!

    This has happened to me three different times. All three times, it started up on days when I was busy and forgot to eat or drink anything until the evening. Staying hydrated is so important. My ENT told me to eat very plain foods when my salivary gland is blocked. I tried eating a lemonhead once when my gland was inflamed, it swelled up huge and hurt like hell, never again. He did recommend massaging the gland, warm compresses, and drinking plenty of water though.

I have been on a diet and eating less and sometimes I tried skipping meals and then this happened to me. • @ChristasGarden
      @ChristasGarden 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@user-um3jr7ju6b Pretty much everything I said in the above comment. Drink lots of water, eat really plain, bland foods, (mashed potatoes, rice, etc), and use a warm compress. After several days, if this doesn't take care of the issue, you might need to get a prescription for antibiotics and steroids. Go see an Ear, nose, and throat doctor if you can. Your primary care doc probably doesn't have any experience with clogged salivary glands. If you have to go back to him/her bring info to make them understand. If it will take you a while to get an appointment, you should probably just schedule one now.

    I Have had this happen to me a few times..no stones but swollen glands..these are the symptoms..painful ear, jaw, teeth, gums and neck on 1 side this can mask itself as a tooth infection but one way to tell is to feel in between ur gum and jaw..if u feel lumps on the outside or inside of the where ur jaw meets ur gums at the bottom inside..if u push lightly on them and they hurt..it could be the gland and not a tooth infection..u can feel its swollen if u do the same thing on the other side and there is no bumps..or if u lightly press on ur cheek in a downward motion and u can feel a bump like a under the skin pimple..once its starts u will have slight swelling on the infected or irritated side..once u start feeling this immediately start treatment..these massages work..do them several times a day..heating pad on that side often., lemon sugar free candy often...rest rest and again rest..drink lots of water..gargle with salt water 3 times a day..eat soft food for a few days..I took 1300mg of ibuprofen ( that's alot I know but for 3 days it's never done me wrong anything to relieve the pain right?) The 1st 3 days once it starts will be absolute hell with the pain..but u should start seeing improvements by the 3rd day..if u have done all these things and swelling and pain has not gotten better SEE UR DOC..

    For almost a year I've had what I think is a stone in the upper section. I'm guessing not the same stone as it comes and goes. I did get worried at the start because it really flared and hurt so much and wouldn't go. Well it's been the longest time and I've not really noticed it/it's been gone. Now I'm not enjoying work and it's a bit stressful. So could there be a link to stress and gland blockages?

    So I don't have a stone I just have a blocked salivary gland. It happens after I cut or scraped accidentally under my tongue. While healing it created scar tissue and blocked one of my salivary glands. I got several surgerys to fix it but it keeps comming back in different glands. I found this very helpful and am surprised my doctor didn't inform me of some of these tricks.

    So. Having a rough time. Last week Monday i went to the docs to find out I had tonsillitis for the 4th time, great.
    On Thursday I realised my lymph node had swollen and my antibiotics wasn’t really helping as I still couldn’t eat and was having a hard time drinking anything. I have been taking paracetamol like theres no tomorrow lol. So on Friday, I went back to the the docs and just my luck I get the evil doc who wanted me out of her office after 1 minute. She prescribed me something new (clarithromycin) and told me everything was fine and stop crying (basically).
    So NOW it is currently 5am and im wide awake because my neck is on fire and my tonsils are still sore. This swollen lymph node is really my main issue now as the pressure is unreal and it is in my neck and my ear. I feel like I’ve tried everything and nothing has helped (only overdosing in ibuprofen and paracetamol). If anyone has had any experience please reply…

    I might have this. My gland under chin and by ear/neck feels insanely swollen and heavy before and after eating (which is why I'm trying to starve...) but lemon/like juice (spoonful) helps it alot. This being swollen causes INTENSE heart attack-like panic attacks....its aweful. Didn't know what it was until my father in law (ER) told me my salivary glands were swollen. Its so hard to live normally..on amoxicilin and praying it goes away soon...can't function and throat closes up often due to panic. I've raked so much in ER bills...3rd time this week. I messaged it and that helped a lot but eating anything with any sort of strong flavor made it explode it size. I cannot imagine eating a sour candy! That would've made my situation much much worse. I messaged it and, it was kind of weird but I could feel the saliva moving from the gland to my mouth. The saliva duct was swollen for about two days but as I said, after the first the gland was mostly fine. I haven't had a powdered donut, or anything like that since!
