Just an update of something I figured out on this monitor. I am sure some of you have already seen the screen darkening effect when reading an article or typing something in word. Then you do something, and the screen brightens again. Well, here is a little trick that has solved this for me as long as I am not doing something in full screen. Let's say you have two windows open (browser and Word) side by side but not taking up 50% of the screen each as you can still see the desktop. If you want, you can setup your desktop background to be a slideshow at 1 min intervals and this will keep refreshing the screen as long as the images are different images. Sounds kind of dumb but it seems to work.
i grabbed this as well at this price with the $200 mail in rebate. at this price its a steal and amazing. the pricing seems to have gone back up since. glad i grabbed it when i did, uncharted 4 also looks phenomenal on this bad boy. kvm works well. i also hooked up a fire hd tv max on hdmi to give it smart features, i noticed the fire tv has better pq with hdr than watching netflix or prime video via pc web browser, so use that for content consumption. i came from the 34" ultrawide and its night and day. i dont find it too big for my desk at all. hard to go back to non oled really. thanks for the gameplay from current games.
Hello, I also ordered the product. Are you satisfied with the product now? Are there any problems (burning, shadow, etc.)? What kind of product is it in general? I will use it for games and movies for an average of 4-5 hours, some days I will use it less. Do you think I made the right decision by purchasing the product?
i like mine overall. the shutdown popup was really an annoyance until i figured out how to avoid it. as for settings, i have mine on the default green power setting. strangely this one give better brightness over the vivid option. i have the adaptive sybc turned on for the higher refresh rate but have changed much on settings. games and movies are all i do. i havent really seen any burn in. or at least havent noticed any. as for good decision, depends on what you paid. if you paid the full 1499 then no, i would return it and go with the lg c series or the asus version for that price. if you got it 700 or less, then i would say you should be happy with it. overall, i enjoy it and dont have regrets
I can't be 100% sure, but i have not received the error since I started turning off the power to the monitor. Each night before I head to bed i use the remote and power off the monitor from the power button.
Hey thank you for all the info I just bought this screen. I'm really excited to try it I do have a question about the hdmi 2.1 slots I've noticed that they are 24gbs and the lg c2 uses 48 gbs but I hear the preformance for both screens are the same when it comes to 4k 120hz what im wondering is does those slots being 24gbs have any downside?
I have not seen any issues but I am using display port myself. If I'm not mistaken the quality on hdmi will be the same at those settings. The higher gbps allow for things like uncompressed data and even higher refresh rates. No console can do more then the 4k 120 to my knowledge. A PC can but most would be using display port at that point.
If you can get it for the lower price, then I would say go for it. If you are going to have to pay the 1k to 1.5k for its regular price, there are better options. However, once you get use to the turning off process that I mention and understand the work around to prevent the screen diming its great. In fact, Newegg has it for $799 as of this comment
If you are talking about the popup about shutting down the monitor. Its timer based on how long the monitor has been on, without a "proper" shutoff (power button on remote)
it has happened during usage, but I had been using it for quite some time. I do not know what the timer is set on, but it will appear while in use if it does not get a "proper" shutdown for the protection mode to start. I can't say when the last time it popped up during use, meaning it's been a while. I do get it occasionally when i turn it on, but i just exit the error from the remote and go on my way.
@@thatscooltech Hi, man, I've looked at it a lot, I'm going to buy it every time and I'm giving up. does it bother you from a distance of 1 meter ? And will you still explain ? if you didn't buy this, which one would you buy, the price is independent.
@@60Seconds_60 Hey there, if it wasn't for the fact that I got mine super cheap and had to pay the full 1499. I would have opted for the Asus PG48UQ. better specs and has G-Sync. It's still an OLED and will have the dimming effect but I can't say to what effect as I have not tried one myself. As for the distance I sit from it. I am not quite 1 meter; I'm just shy at .75 meters (30inch) and it doesn't bother me at all this distance. As for explaining, if you are referring to the warning, its due to the timer for powering it off. Essentially, if you do not power down the monitor (press the power button on remote) it will just go to standby and not run its screen protection. After a couple of days I got in the habit of turning it off and don't get the error now.

yeah. i love the color reproduction on this monitor. Despite the couple issues, I really enjoy it, especially at such a cheap price.
I bought mine the first week of September and still haven't received my rebate yet.
I would definitely follow up with them. I received my confirmation of processing Saturday. It has only been a couple weeks now that I sent it in.
@@thatscooltech nice, i fedexed mine on oct 8th, they received it oct 9th. still nothing when i check status. will give them a couple more days
Do you know if the 200 mail in rebate is still avaiable for this monitor? I ordered one for 900 after tax and 200 back would be sweet!

Have you solved the problem with the warning window in the center of the screen ?

@@thatscooltech Thanks for the answer , I also constantly turn off through the remote and there are no problems with this window
Can you turn it off without the remote ?
not sure why youtube is not prompting me that i have comments. Yes you can turn it off from the menu button on the monitor as well
Hello, at what settings do you use the screen? (brightness etc.)
green or eco setting is what i use with the adaptive sync turned on

Does it come in in the middle of gaming or watching content? Or is it only while in desktop mode?
