    I just got this set up yesterday. I had a heck of a time updating the firmware. After several failed attempts I figured out that you can't use your mouse or keyboard if it's plugged into the integrated USB hub ports while the firmware is updating. A simple solution would be to connect your mouse or keyboard to your pc directly, or wait until the firmware update has completed. I hope I save someone the frustration of figuring it out.
    Also, I can't find the eye comfort setting. I saw it in the menus as a demo before I updated the firmware, but it's missing after the update.

    I have been using an older LG EG9100 OLED for years since it came out as my daily monitor for work and gaming, and I love it. I use an xbox controller for gaming, and sit on my couch with wireless hardware. I have zero burn-in, and it still works as well as did on day 1. I don't think I can go back to anything else besides OLED. I actually like the dimming you mention as it saves my retinas from blowing out with those ultra bright whites. It's most likely for burn-in protection. I'm surprised he can sit so close to this without turning the brightness down quite a bit. I would prefer a 32-34" for sitting without 3-4 feet, and am waiting for those.

    Best purchase I've ever made so far in my life! 😁 Been using TN, VA and IPS monitors for years and they does not come close to OLED.
    For the longest time, i've always thought HDR was just marketing gimmick but after experiencing it personally coupled with OLED, It's like seeing the world with a set of new eyes. I almost shed a tear when I ran 4K HDR content in TH-cam. 🤣

Even at 18-24" depth spacing, the far edges you are viewing at such an angle through the facings that you get diffraction. Very edges, you'll be happy for a few months, then it starts to annoy you. 1800R would be perfect.

It's pretty good. I think I might use this for those AAA high graphics games that don't run too well at a full 4K resolution, so I can switch to an "ultra-wide" resolution for the sake of performance.

      I had HOPED with the proliferation of high resolution monitors, we would start to see smaller monitors in 4k, because even at 22", 4k still doesn't cross the "retina display (TM)" threshold, and you can still see stairstepping if you don't run AA, from a few feet away.
      It would be nice to have more options. For instance, I also can't really see many extra frames over 90. However, 90 is way better looking than 75.

      Then there are VA panels that have no added tech. They are only VA. Bad viewing angles but are great for super low latency. (Competitive gaming).

    Been using my LG C8 Oled for 3 years as a gaming TV, been absolutely loving every bit of it! For just a bit higher price of that Aorus 48 you can ditch the middleman and rather have a 65 inch from LG. Would still give you a bigger 21:9 size than any Ultra wide gaming monitor. I play at a resolution of 3840 x 1650 from the couch and it’s big enough for great immersion! Only advantage I see on the Ultra wide gaming monitors is the extra horizontal resolution, as they Don’t cut off all these vertical pixels, they give most of them back as a whopping 5120 horizontal pixels. (though you Do still lose like a million pixels in the end)
    But OLED just simply blows away all the competition with its jawdropping display qualities, especially in HDR. I’m not convinced about the Aorus VS the LG, these extra things are gadgets (would be surprised if this “soundbar” blows away the LG built-in speaker, anyway with such a rig you’re much better with proper speaker set and/or good headphones.
    On a final note, beware that the pixel shifting and automatic dim down on static images are there to protect your more fragile pixels, and as far as I know they are a really good thing. It rarely activates in-game, except when you go away for a short while. If I remember correctly you can turn it off in the general settings, but I never had to do it.
    I didn’t experience any OLED burn-in or problems so far, and i’ve gamed quite a bit, though I was always careful not to leave static screens too long, and I do dim down the monitor when I play some games like Civilization with a lot of static colors/graphic elements. Also dim down those HUD whenever your favorite games will allow it.

      Funny, im on my 2nd C7 panel and now after 4 years it’s starting to show the same burn in issues, even after taking all the precautions to avoid burn in. I've been using a 43" IPS display on my desk for the past year and even though for some games I play it's too big there simply isn't anything better for work(I've had triple monitor setup before). I'm tempted to upgrate to something like this or simply an OLED TV, but I'm a bit worried about longevity if I use it as my lone daily driver. I'll deffinetely setup one for movies and gaming one day though.

    • @nordlands8798
      @nordlands8798 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If by longevity you are thinking about possible burn-in, that does not seem to be a real-world issue. After 15 months there are no signs of burn-in or any other issues on my LG CX 48", which is on 8+ hours per day on average since I am using it as a display for home office most days.

    • @bricaaron3978

      I have over 10,000 hours on an OLED55B7A used solely as my PC display, with zero image retention. Keep in mind this is 2017 model year technology. As I and many others know from experience, an OLED can be used as a desktop/gaming display without any problems -- BUT one must be willing to take care of the display and adhere to certain usage protocols.
      If a person is disgusted with LCD tech and wants the best post-CRT image quality possible without having to spend tens of thousands of dollars, OLED is worth the bit of extra effort in my opinion. But if a person just wants a display that he can use however he wants without having to worry about anything, it's probably best to wait until OLED matures a bit more, or another technology comes along.

Compared to my old Panasonic VT60 plasma the LG CX seems to be 100x less sensitive to image retention. Probably have close to 5000 hours on it now.

    Thanks for the informative video. There’s just one advice I would like to give about the cinematic black bars: In order to avoid “computer turtleneck”, you could lower the displayed pixels part of the screen and in doing so, double the height of the top black bar and make the bottom black bar disappear, if that monitor has that option.

    • @ChuckHickl
      @ChuckHickl ปีที่แล้ว

      never in my life have I given anything more than a passing thought to these dreaded "black bars" that seem to guide so many-people's decision making. One thing I do know is that all display prices are in freefall and a 32" IPS gaming display I am watching dropped in price twice over the weekend and although it is sold on NewEgg, the price was so absurdly low I still felt it was a scam. It wasn't, it's just what is happening with what seems all electronic equipment. With OLED gaming displays, I want to know how screen burn is addressed, it's all I care about as the way in which I game, my displays will be put in situations in which if they are susceptible to screen burn, they will. I don't want to see a ghost of my Valheim lobby for the next 2 years...
