Thank you very much Rachel 🙏 Likewise. Enjoy your holiday celebrations and your Champagne 🍾🎉🥂 all my best wishes to you and your loved ones from France 😀🎉👌🥳🤗
Amore vous & merci beau coup ⚜. I hope I wrote that correctly. 🤷🏻♀️ Love you & thank you ⚜ 🌟⚜💛⚜🌟💛⚜ I love French everything. I understood all but 1 designer names and had no idea that a Champagne that I drank for years was pronounced with a hard 'T' Thank you! I'm going to be a new follower of yours & your great videos! ⚜
I have spent a lot of time in France so mostly the only ones I didn't know how to pronounce more or less correctly were the ones that aren't French names like Deutz but there are a few I need to tweak my pronunciation such as Billecart, which I'd always pronounced with the ll like in Gremillet rather than sounding the ll. The one surprise was Taittinger, which is one of my favourite houses - for some reason I'd always pronounced this with a short rather than long initial a. This guide was very helpful. I'm fairly pedantic and I like to get these things right. I couldn't help noticing that Heidsieck was misspelt (as Heidsick) all three times but you did notice the last of the three.
Excellent Geoffrey :) Tx for the kind note. See you around then. Here's my Champagne playlist with all my vids about Champagne wines, if thet's of any interest: th-cam.com/video/IxBncfGXcnE/w-d-xo.html Cheers, and tx for stopping by 😊👍🥂
In that well known film "A Fish Called Wanda", Jamie Lee Curtis showed us what happens when you listen to a person speaking French ! And now all those illustrious Champagne brend names...
Thanks, Julien, picked up some that I was pronouncing wrong. Do you want details from my recent (2021) Champagne tasting, including 6 tete du cuvees and over twenty others? Cristal 2013 took top honors with Heidsieck Rare. Oh my!
Why is the "ll" in Billecart Salmon pronounced as an "L" sound rather than the softer "I" sound? I've always said "Bi-eh-car" Salmon not "Bill-car". Is there a different rule for these double-Ls? Thanks.
Hi man. I'm not 100% sure of why. I think it's simply a family tradition to say it this way. In French indeed it should be bi-eh-car just like when you say 'bille' (marble) pronouncing bi-eh. But for some reason in this case you pronounce the L. It's probably a little like for Moet the way the family says it. If you listen to a family member introducing himself here, you hear he says the L too th-cam.com/video/Jj8l0XD0-HA/w-d-xo.html it sounds like it's the way they pronounce it, so the way we should probably pronounce too.
Very informative and some beautiful and old Champagne houses. Wishing you family fabulous New Year 🍾💛
