@@bvedant I think it's mostly he doesn't have the time to curate and edit his own stuff so he does it with BA. Like he owns 4 restaurants, a meat shop, and a wine shop in Brooklyn and also runs a graphic design firm.
I’ve had the pleasure of talking with Andre and he is just as kind and friendly in person as he is in these videos. If you’re ever in NYC, I’d highly recommend the wine bar that he owns and operates in Brooklyn called & Sons. A very cute intimate and warm wine bar with a fantastic list that focuses on US wines. They also have a great menu of charcuteries which they hand slice with these cool vintage flywheel slicers. I’ve heard great things about his restaurant Kingfisher as well, but haven’t been yet.
@@stinkinmushroom Why is that? The US is capable of producing world class wines that can compete with and outperform grand cru burgundy and Bordeaux. Not every winery in the US makes mass-produced sugary fruit juice, there are plenty of serious winemakers making serious quality wines.
Love listening to Andre talk about this stuff. He’s so knowledgeable about it, and you can see that he really has a passion for wine and loves teaching others about it.
Love Andre and love how he makes wine so approachable. I've taken classes myself and the somms who taught them were good, but didn't have as much of a "let's just learn about wine" vibe. cause wine is complicated but it doesn't have to be!
Wow, this was so good! I used to love wine, hearing someone speaking with this knowledge about the silly grape is amazing. I could listen to André for ever! What a knowledge.
I love how this guy stays with the premise of YOU are the som of your own taste, he doesn't put anyone down for feeling anything he just states how he feels and encourages one to find what they truly enjoy.
I'm new to andre mack and he needs his own series! I don't even drink wine but something about humans explaining difficult concepts in a simple manner is my shiiiiii!
Easily the most informative and interesting video of the lot - every single question response I learned a couple things, my own research be damned. Massive kudos to Andre.
I LOVE this guy. Ever since I saw him on BA years back I've watched anything I can get my hands on. He's so approachable and charming. If this guy was my sommalier I'd be a return customer to your establishment every week. Never had someone explain wine in a way that makes me appreciate the wine I drink on a weekly basis.
This man ought to be the face of Wine Inc. So down to earth & humble which frankly the wine community always gives off the opposite vibe of. Dare I say, I kind of get wine lovers after watching this.
One of my favorite movies is Uncorked, about a young man pursuing his dream to become a master sommelier. André is living the dream. Great episode here. Looking at him, I would never guess he's a master sommelier, I would have guessed he's a jazz musician. He's got that easygoing vibe.
I was surprised that my local wine shop recommended a white wine with different cheese since everyone told me that red would be the best (depends about the cheese). It was great! ❤
I love this man! He seems very approachable, is giving great yet simple explanations, no pretensions, with a "you like what you like" attitude and no snobbery. Yes, start a channel. I read some comments below and it appears he owns a wine bar, so start there! Have some "real people" taste and comment about his suggestions! I used to watch a show in the UK when visiting my dad that had sommeliers compete and it was the greatest thing "this was crown in Chile, the southern coast, a west facing side, picked by Jose and his burrow Charlie, on a Wednesday when it was 72 degrees and it's X brand". It was the best!
Andre is such an amazing wine educator. He shares an amazing depth of knowledge while making it easily accessible (I'm not sure people realise how OG master he is because he's so humble). Only issue I have with this video is the poor editor can't be expected to have the same wine knowledge and know when to cut and not...
Hi Andre, love your content. This time with the sparkling wines you've got it wrong (maybe trying to simplify). Co2 is not injected to Prosecco, it's produced thanks to secondary fermentation in a tank (vs. the bottle in Methode Classique).
This is pretty cool and Mr. Somelier here will probably never see this comment, but I got a bachelor in psych because of watching Frasier. Cool that someone else let that show influence such a big part of their life.
I also believe they swirl the wine to let the smells out, with is why you drink wine with your nose in the glass, because tasting is also done in the nose, you can taste it better
Isn't taste like 70-80% ol smell or something like that, which is why when you have a cold every taste so blah and bland? Other random fact- when up in a plane you don't taste salt like normal so they use more salt in airplane food.
Canada is finally making some decent wines, and it definitely gets colder than Champagne. It's harder and more expensive, but some varieties are suited to it.
Never been a huge fan of the term 'dry' for drinking wine because the term refers more the the winemaking process and the fermentation. Technically every single wine is dry because it's not wine until it ferments out dry. Dry is the term for when the sugars in the wine complete the fermentation process of converting to alcohol
When I was 7, my parents sent back a bottle of red when we were in Montreal. I was curious why they scowled when tasting, so my dad let me taste it. Of course, he wasn't worried about me getting tipsy as it was vinegar.
Wow!! I was in Sancerre just last week!! City was kinda empty, it was sunday afternoon, got gas in a supermarket gas station with a weird Belgish name, in the other side of La Loire. Lol! Sancerre, not he cheapest wine.
I like how he either didn’t answer the decanting question, or they edited out the answer haha. Another great video though - I’ll anyways watch an Andre video
Explanation of prosecco is wrong. Of course he knows what he's talking about, it's down to half arsed editing, as you can see through that segment. Prosecco is made with tank method. Plus the conclusion could make you think that only champagne is made with the second fermentation happening in the bottle, which isn't the case.
As far as I understand, biggest source of sulfur is preservative potassium metabisulfite or sodium metabisulfite which vine makers add into the vine. I guess there is some sulfur there naturally, but there is no way for me to know how much of preservative they added... Or should I judge by the amount of headache? I'm not a big vine drinker and that is one of the reasons.
