I almost forgot to watch "SUICIDE SILENCE - "Unanswered" w/ Phil Bozeman - Mitch Lucker Memorial Show" today.
Along with "Destruction of a Statue" cover by Jonny Davy
@@tjwest2605everyone always mentions the Phil performance, and rightfully so, but damn did Jonny kill it too.
This comment is so fucking real
@@brady_bigbearthe Danny Worsnop one was actually nuts, way better than it had any right to be
Legit my daily prayer
This man’s vocals are so brutal and he has one of the cleanest talking voice
He lowkey fine af too
@@Whopperwhopper420dude has the screams of a demon, singing voice of an angel and looks like a model. Crazy
“I’ll let you listen to some of it” HOW ARE YOU SO CALM.
Gutturals? Going back to the roots? I didn't expect such good news. Now I'm hyped for the new album!
Believe it when we see it!
Back to redundant growling with zero emotional depth, there is already a thousand bands doing it to the extreme
@@WarriorEsoteric just want that old deathcore sound back
@@Boymentation1994 it’s going backwards to evolve into the band that created Kin and completely separated themselves from the rest to just go back and do a “Deathcore” album with wall to wall gutturals about bodily fluids and random edgy sh*t
Kin and the valley are geniunly two of my fav albums. I love the variety of disgustingly heavy + melodic cleans. Suprised when people say they don't them that much. But each to their own. Stoked for the new record!
10000% agreed. The Valley is a top 3 album for me!
The albums are cool, but majority of Whitechapel fans started listening to them during the This is Exile and Era of New Corruption albums which is why that's the sound that stuck.
Kinda is the same thing with all bands that deviate with their sound down the line. Ask fans of Linkin Park and it will always be Hybrid Theory and Meteora, for Slipknot fans it's self titled and Iowa et.c.
Must be one of the most frustrating things as a musician. Develop and evolve your sound and fans get mad because it doesn't sound like X anylonger. Release the same album year after year and you're uninspired cashgrabs with no creativity (Metallica, Iron Maiden et.c.) You can't win.
It's incredibly hard for bands to re-imagne their sound entirely and keep their fanbase.
@@henrikswanstrom9218 that definitely makes sense. I only started listening to Whitechapel a few years ago around the time that The Valley released so that could be why I'm biased to that album
Oh absolutely 👍 I Will Find You is one of those songs that is so good it gets me emotional
I may be an exception. I found them during This is Exile. But I'll jam The Valley as much as that album. I'm just happy Phil can ACTUALLY sing and made it all blend really well. I can't complain about how they have evolved over time with their sound.
the amount of times Phil said "like" XD
That's a generational thing lol
Orphan mentioned
You love to see it
This is Exile was one of the first deathcore records I've ever heard and I remember how my stupid 14-year-old brain just couldn't get enough of it. How can something be that brutal and raw but still catchy and well produced. I listened to it on repeat, daily.. And it was such a dope gateway into so many other bands I started listening at that point as well. I was literally obsessed by that album so I can't wait for the second chapter.
The drumming on that album was sooo good
Stoked to hear Phil talk about Orphan, I've been jamming them so much since I found stages of grief last year. I didn't click with the vocals at first but I listened a couple of times and now I'm hooked. The sheer anger and pain and fury is just palpable.
I never heard of orphan before
And now I’m hooked
Thanks Phil🤘
They're pretty good for a band that fucks over band mates. PeelingFlesh is much better imo.
Orphan is so fuckin sick
One of the vocalist ( who do the high scream ) is my favourite 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
@yogiyahya35 better than despised icon? 😮
@@noyourwontgetnonecdsbck8191 i love Despised Icon, too 😆
Not gonna lie I am effin stoked on a sequel to “this is exile” first time I’ve been excited for a heavy album in a long time.
I am ready to be destroyed by the new album. I need it now
I will never forget the first time I saw whitechapel, I thought they were these big bad tough dudes. Out walks Phil, being like 5'4" or something doing insane vocals. Shit had me and my buddies dying, we didn't expect it. RESPECT TO THE SHORT KING 🐐
I am really looking forward too this album!
I learned how to do vocals from whitechapel
This guy is the best
So many deathcore vocalists are doing low gutterals because of Phil Bozeman. He pioneered/popularized gutteral lows. One of the greatest deathcore vocalists of all time.
ive listened to Phil's performance of Unanswered over 100 times, and I know that for a fact. I wish he would record it with them, but I also completely understand why not.
Saw Whitechapel live a few months back and Phil sounded unbelievably massive, blew the whole room away.
Gotta love Phil
Omg, when he mentioned the highs from Orphan I literally went "YESSS THATS WHAT IM SAYING" so fucking loud in my little lonely apartment. That vocalist sounds fucking psychotic. It's kinda the same with the old, old vocalist from Thy Art - the one on the Infinite Death EP - Just pure psychopathy. Or even the guy from Admiral Angry. It's something I'm really missing from the more modern bands in Deathcore. They're talented vocalists for sure, but I miss that RAW, in your face, almost too scary feeling I get from old deathcore. It's like the hardcore aspect, the energy part of deathcore, kinda disappeared with time, and new deathcore almost turned into technical deathmetal.
I want more stuff like Orphan and PSYCHO-FRAME. Super stoked for the new Whitechapel.
Always great to hear Nic talk to Phil again!
I'm sorry that I missed this live!! I was exhausted af.. It's really great to see this conversation with the OG and stoked for new Whitechapel. I live for the impossibilities* of Phil's writing and pet selfies
I loved this interview so much
Going to see whitechapel with Lorna and kublai khan in October! Super pumped to see the gaming legend Phillybo there
Great interview and I’m stoked for some new white chapel BIG TIME now
Can’t wait for the new Chapel stuff. I’ve loved the last few albums but I’ve been waiting for a return for the heaviness of the first couple albums.
I absolutely love The Valley and Kin. Can't wait to hear the new record!
Shout out from Knoxville, TN. Love you guys!
Can't wait!
Shoutout from knoxville whitechapel are one of the goats , we look up to these guys , much love .
Watch out for between the soul and eye in the near future , we are getting our first album together . Much love , god bless.
Made my day!❤
I am so excited for the new album. Possession is still my favorite Whitechapel song. That song is legendary and Phil is doing so many cool things vocally there I think.
I love how Phil mentioned Bone thugs. I would love to see Phil do a metal verison of Its All Mo Thug or Body Rott.
Thank you for this interview. Made me laugh and I love all your videos! Keep having Phil on please❤
100000% my favorite song as well. That whole album is such a fuckin banger I can't wait!!
Yesssss!!!!!! Fucking loved seeing them last year!!!! Absolutely dream come true seeing them live and the blow up lately has been crazy!!!
Pissed off/real sounding heavy > Vocal gymnastics.
This is exile was such an influential album for me when I was in late high-school years. The drumming was super ahead of its time in this space.
gotta say Despised Icon came first and killed it, pretty sure it influenced WC to some extent
Phil is a super chill dude and I like his sarcasm haha. Great interview guys 🤙
36:29 I’ve seen spite his energy is through the roof when you see and experience what magic they put out in records
Good Ole Whitechapel! Always loved these guys! Definitely looking forward to the new album! Taking it back to the old school! But with a modern twist! Sounds great! Can’t wait! Oh and just as a side note; I absolutely loved what you and Dickie Allen did with the song Pain! F***ing brutal! Fantastic sound! I really dig it! And I really think you two should do a full album of that kind of sound together! I think it would be amazing! Do it!😎👍
Awesome interview and yeah Orphan is an insane band. Happy to hear Phillybo is fully committed to produce a super brutal record in the vein of This is Exile with lots of highs and gutturals. I've been craving for this Whitechapel sound despite the latest albums being very good in their own right.
6:04 “Why would you ever listen to this” 🤣
Far Beyond Driven is soo heavy. Great call out!
I love how half of this was phil being an old head about social media
the section of phil talking about nick’s background got me rolling
This has me pumped for some new shit!
Also, as a fellow Tennessean, I can recognize another TN non-country way of speaking when I hear it. Lol
Whitechaple representing the Mid-South!
Awesomeness 🤘
I’m so fucking pumped for this album.
Phil is such a chill dude
Watched this yesterday, but came back to say that I saw Spite live last night and can confirm that Darius is 100% unhinged on stage. Dude was absolutely bananas. But then at the merch table meeting fans he was all smiles and super nice. It was definitely fun metal things there.
Watched his interview on the GARZA PODCAST and it made me love this guy even more.
The most relatable interview ever in trying to adapt to social media LOL.
The Somatic Defilement and This is Exile are still some of the best deathcore album (personally not into any of the new polished stuff). But all the classics like I Declare War, Waking the Cadaver, As Blood Runs Black, and Despised Icon are always gonna hit harder. Oh Doom by Job For A Cowboy too, make deathcore MySpace again.
lets hope they restock each albums in thier store when they drops the new album !
Philly Bo! Lets go!
Im so fucking happy. I feel like a lot of the bands i grew up with say theyre “going back to roots” and just barely hit the periphery of what we hope for. But specifically whitexhapel is my favorite heavy band and this is exile was one of my favorite records. This is kind of what im riding on for 2024 tbh 😬
I would love to see him react to immortal disfigurement
Oui
Can’t wait for new album I think my current fav is the 3rd one new era of corruption
This is exile is the best DeathCore album ever made
Subjective of course but This is Exile is amongst the best ever. I’m personally more partial to Reclaimer but I’m of the opinion that SoI are probably the most rounded DC band just because of how well they incorporate other elements be it brutal, melodic, technical, emotional, etc.
I used to play house shows with Kublai Kahn in 2008. They’ve been around for a while!
Nik, homie always got a place to stay in melbourne if passing by. 5 min from downtown. Die hard nocturnal and metal fan. Lol.
By the whitechapel is the greatest band in history
Love Phil and have seen whitechapel 5 times from Miami, ft Lauderdale to Orlando.
I think Phil is one of the coolest dudes, he seems so chill, lol.
The Intimidation Factor Is Such a Interesting Thing to think about. Some bands that are just Straight Heavy Just don’t hit as much when they’re just standing There and Moving around like Lorna Shore Imo. But When I saw Whitechapel, Spite and Meshuggah…. Holy fuck it was more heavier than I thought because Like Jen’s from Meshuggah. He just stands there and headbangs but the way he looks and Just Screams Really Gets through To you.
Hell fuck'n yeah that's my favorite album this is exciting and I can't wait it's going to be hellishly brutal
Que me salpique la sangre en la cara, necesito saber cuando sale el nuevo disco 🩸💗
This is Exile is GOATed.
Hoping we get a modern interpretation of that album.
Жаным Фииииииллл❤❤❤❤❤❤❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 let them coooook! деушімед) Whitechapel алға❤️🔥
When I saw spite with whitechapel that was a nasty show man
I hope he doesn’t lean into the satanic thing too much in the new record. Sure it can be “scary”, but has been done to death and at this point feels like it cheapens the overall experience. Slapping a bumper sticker on a Ferrari etc.
Agreed. He could be singing about cute fluffy kitties, but if the music and the gutturals go hard enough the fans would love it. As long as he's singing it with feeling!
🖤🖤!
Phil 🤘
That's an ASTRO headset....Phil be gamin 🫡😎😎😎
With the reversal of satanic lines into almost "brutal heavenly" lines, instead of live goat sacrifices they gotta have live goat births
I'm only a year older than Phil and I totally understand his older-style way of viewing the internet and social media.
Jersey Shore, Whipchapel, Suckabong and Cobra Clan 🔥🔥🔥
God damn I love them Tennessee boys!
Phil is tha GOAT 🔥🙌🏾
Hey Phil don't hate on Facebook. Was cool to see u on Instagram
Whitechaple are amazing!!!
YO0O~ SOUNDS LIKE PHIL SHOULD HAVE HIS VOICE & VISA VERSA😂🤣😅
I had the most surreal experience while listening to Orphan. Id heard two tracks before this point, dying light and hourglass. I decided I wanted to hear more and heard some more tracks. Then the one-two combo happened. I heard the song mag dump and was utterly horrified. It's brutal, insane and unhinged. I like the song, but those lyrics bro. After i'd gotten over what I'd just put my autistic brain through, I carried on. The next song I heard was porcelain. Holy shit fuck. One f the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life. It's more metalcore-ish, but I couldn't help but think of Lorna Shore's pain remains. That, 5-10 mins was a rollercoaster for me!
You are not wrong about his cover of Unanswered ❤
BRASS KNUCKLES 🎶THAT FUNKY KNUCKLES🎶
It honestly depends on how low the vocal is for me. I can understand up to a certain point. When you reach tunnels, we're just along for the ride imo lol.
Kin was released in 2021. I need some new Whitechapel PLEASE!!!!!
Make Whitechapel fast again!
Let’s gooooo
Am I the only one who thought Phil looks like Music Is Win now
Idk
Dunno if I will be able to unsee this now lmao
@@MullilluM Oops 😅
Fuuu. Highs and gutturals. Bring it
🐐
Orphan goes hard, my guys! Check em out.
Whitechapel is one of the bands I'd listen a fully clean rock record from. Melodies on Valley and Kin are just so good! But hey I'm excited to see some heavy as fuck nonsense too
“Macaroni and cheeeeeeeeeeeese” lol
Fuck yes Orphan shoutout
Whitechapel's show at a festival from my country got cancelled😢
Easily my fastest interview click in a minute. Greetings from Nigeria 🤘🏽🤍
When do this album come out?
Orphan gives me some SPITE vibes as well. Just brutal nasty shit and I love it!
This might be an unpopular opinion BUT talking about the "fast rapping going into a heavy part"
*Personally* it might not fit on a Whitechapel album, but i would KILL to hear Fronz x Phil collab on a song
Two legendary vocalists imo, make it happennnn
i relate with the whole internet talk part. like to me it feels like youtube has been around my whole life, but when i recently looked it up, youtube started in 2005. the thing that makes me want to lay down like an old person: i graduated high school in 2006!🤣
edit: yeah suicideboys were also influenced by three 6 mafia, to the point where SB sued them for unauthorized sampling, which al burned them cuz three 6 is also fans of SB lol
I remember discussing the word in 2009-10 right around graduation time, so it's at least that old.
I dunno wtf we called proto-memes tho. It was always just like "ay you seen that funny walrus with the bucket?"
It's wild to me that you were a funnyjunk kid tho. It's still great, if you can get past the extreme racism.
21:55 FunnyJunk is still around. They exist in their own bubble and it's for the best.
