We trained with Ranger SF in Bad Toelz and they were teaching crossing the objective then blowing the whistle to have the objective inspected and inventoried. There were 100 different things our instructors pointed out about the weapons vehicles and uniforms and items the bodies had on them. I was amazed when in the classroom later on they asked what we thought the things meant and then they told us what the clues meant about the enemies strengths and weaknesses etc. Things you can’t imagine were contained within the smallest clues from objects collected off the objective. And the speed and precision the team demonstrated was impressive. They initiated a strait line assault across the objective and collected data and were gone within what seemed like 10 minutes. Certainly not for defense contractors, that the state department gives millions per week to hamza bin laden makes me ill
Flechette rounds are like darts. That main delivery "bomb" pops open and peppers the trees with thousands of steel darts. They've been in action a long time
Man I can’t even imagine getting shot through your NVG’s. I absolutely hated wearing them during night ranges or night patrols. They suck when you’re trying to patrol through a tree line at night & you’re stumbling between opening & closing your free eye trying to establish some modicum of depth perception. I know most guys hate them, but I’m sure that guy loved his NVG’s that night lol 😂 Much respect to these Rangers! #0311Grunt #SemperFi
@@Nnip9 I never loved them lol. The Marines always get the shitty equipment/gear. So a lot of times when I did night ranges, they would flicker with every step when I was running. I can’t recall a time when they didn’t flicker on & off when I was running.
@@JuiceMann11 I've heard that the Marines have always gotten the short end of the stick. A Marine will steal an unguarded bale of wire and build an armored vehicle with it.😄
A Fleshette round is a canister of little darts that look like miniature missiles. There is also red dyed powder that puffs up as the canister opens releasing the Fleshettes. This is so they can see where the round went and coverage it gave. Friend of mine used them in his tank at Khe Sanh, Vietnam. He had a tie clasp made of a fleshette. In Nam they called them beehive rounds. Because the canister was full of them. It's like a shotgun round for tanks but with fleshettes.
Love this guy just ended up reading his book the reaper. Every story he tells is spot on with the book. God bless this man he has seen alot and is here still sharing his war stories.
'Flechettes' are small steel darts...The drill through bad guys head to toe...Goes back to WW1. I read about shotguns in combat, and in VietNam, flechette rounds were tried. It was said they had no stopping power, but the vc shure bled out, eventually. I guess its better to saturate with them.
Ask some our Aussie vets from east Timor about what they saw. A mate served. He snapped and tried to end me one day while having a drug alcohol fueled PTSD episode. He's very lucky I train people like him. My training and experience saved my ass. He's lucky he's connected too.

Did you hear all the warning measures (RoE) taken to stop the man!? One of my biggest issues with quack civilians is comparing my brothers in arms to other enemy combatants. NO ONE affords us the same courtesy. We are the good guys. Don’t ever forget that brothers. God bless you all.
What you do and who you talk to… may god bless all of you! Your show is both impressive and humbling, gives us hope, I hope anyway, god bless all of you and thank you.
You can tell bu the way this man describes everything that he has gone through HOURS of therapy. He's grappled with these emotions for so long and explained himself so many times, that hes one if the FEW that can speak about things without getting choked up. That means he put so REAL EFFORT into healing. There's no other way you could speak about these things.
2:44 Flechettes are basically 2" nails formed into a shape similar to a dart. There are hundreds (or thousands) of them packed into an ordinance and when it explodes it scatters the darts into a shotgun-like pattern.
So sorry humans have to do this to each other. I hope he can continue to live well with his family and that talking about his experiences has helped him

I've heard that NVGs are stressful to wear, mentally tiring. It's a love/hate thing?
@@Nnip9 I never loved them lol. The Marines always get the shitty equipment/gear. So a lot of times when I did night ranges, they would flicker with every step when I was running. I can’t recall a time when they didn’t flicker on & off when I was running.
@@JuiceMann11
That flickeing wasn't the night vis...It was the horrible movie we are all being forced to watch !
kddg...love the Marines
@Nnip9 definitely stressful and I feel lost with them on at times
@@JuiceMann11 I've heard that the Marines have always gotten the short end of the stick. A Marine will steal an unguarded bale of wire and build an armored vehicle with it.😄
These are some very powerful interviews I don’t think you ever miss
This is pretty much the best most interesting podcast online today. Unbelievably amazing stories.
Flechettes are 1.5 to 2.5 inch long of hardened steal spikes with fins on them.
Love this guy just ended up reading his book the reaper. Every story he tells is spot on with the book. God bless this man he has seen alot and is here still sharing his war stories.
I know people who are not into the military or guns.Or anything like that Who watch everyone of sean ryan's videos because of how good they are
I'm like that. I love these stories of war and the reality that some people go through. Military culture is interesting.
The way this dude recounts his battles it’s almost like being there in my mind.
Called in the C130🇺🇸
'Flechettes' are small steel darts...The drill through bad guys head to toe...Goes back to WW1. I read about shotguns in combat, and in VietNam, flechette rounds were tried. It was said they had no stopping power, but the vc shure bled out, eventually. I guess its better to saturate with them.
Ask some our Aussie vets from east Timor about what they saw. A mate served. He snapped and tried to end me one day while having a drug alcohol fueled PTSD episode. He's very lucky I train people like him. My training and experience saved my ass. He's lucky he's connected too.
This is one person that you pray to never get on his bad side
That interview was intense!! Seems like a cool dude. I’ve never heard anyone talk about Carlos Hathcock. That guy is a legend! Thanks guy’s.
Think of barbs from a barbed wire fence. Then you have an idea of fleschette rounds.
Darts
Absolutely Incredible Interview, not to mention very sobering.
This guy is so mentally tough it’s insane , you can he has his problems but he deals with them so well. Read his books guys is a real life reaper
Wow I don't even have words to say thank you enough for your hurt and your pain for our freedom.
Your sacrifice, much love and respect.❤
Whoa, my heart goes out to you brother.
Vietnam combat vet but never took a round. God bless a.nd thanks...
Your ptsd shows, Damn...
Unbelievable these stories. To have so many people die inches and feet away from you and you still keep going. You must have a great purpose.
Your interviews are the best I love this guy he’s such a stand up guy watched him interviewed many times and he just wants you to be. With him he so cool.
Flechette rounds basically is the artillery version of a food processor. Thousands of darts fired into the objective, just minces the range.
bro getting 20 kill matches is crazy
I Don't know how I found this channel, but I'm glad I did,,I'm loving the content..
much respect...World leaders need to sit the hell down in the U.N and hear this man.
The reality of being a fighter, a sniper ...you heard him putting bodies back together for reports. The grim reality of war. That would mess me up.
Now I know why my brothers never told me any stories… They simply told me not to join the military.
my parents said the same thing.
Sean I love your podcasts brother
I been watching them since you first came out. Thank you brother so much. It’s so refreshing the real authenticity of you and your guests
The fléchette is French, meaning "little arrow" or "dart", comes out like a shotgun blast
Such respect for people like Nick Irving and people him who can do a job that 99% of us can't even imagine let alone perform. The manner in which he describes his experiences really captures my attention and makes me want to hear more from him . He's really an interesting interview.
There’s no way you can truly stay after that. I’ve worked with marines who never killed anyone and they already act like they have ptsd I can only imagine what these guys feel like inside.
God bless our soldiers... this Hell is going to stop one day. Peace all and love.
These interviews are amazing. Thank you and big respect!
I can’t really explain it but I do really like this dude. Feel like he’d be cool to hang out with; just seems genuinely like a good dude.
Thank you both fo your service
Awesome interview
This is the realest dude ever. I hope he is at peace because he obviously was in the shit often and stacked bodies.
As a black man joining the military to be a sniper this is my role model man🎉🎉
What you do and who you talk to… may god bless all of you! Your show is both impressive and humbling, gives us hope, I hope anyway, god bless all of you and thank you.
I love these so much respect to all the soldiers out there
You can tell bu the way this man describes everything that he has gone through HOURS of therapy. He's grappled with these emotions for so long and explained himself so many times, that hes one if the FEW that can speak about things without getting choked up. That means he put so REAL EFFORT into healing. There's no other way you could speak about these things.
Shut up and stop making assumptions
All of the COD guys know what flachet rounds are
2:44 Flechettes are basically 2" nails formed into a shape similar to a dart. There are hundreds (or thousands) of them packed into an ordinance and when it explodes it scatters the darts into a shotgun-like pattern.
Can't get enough of these experiences. I just bought his book.
Absolutely fantastic interview thank you.
So detailed - as if he was there again
I’m sure he relive these moments all the time
Incredible conversation
War is hell, thank you , Shawn
Thanks for sharing your story. I can’t believe your experience sounds like a movie .
25 year Navy Corpsman. It’s taken me years to listen to this stuff.
Thank you for your service
The crazy part about it is that they’re gonna wait until Reaper dies before they make a movie about him
So sorry humans have to do this to each other. I hope he can continue to live well with his family and that talking about his experiences has helped him
THE DOG SURVIVED!!! 🎉🐕
Thank you for service sir!
I’ve seen all the videos I can of Nicholas Irving and he is a really cool guy. Respect you bro.
I’ll be honest, I’ve heard and watched close to 100 of these videos and this dude is the only one that I can relate to. I can’t remember simple specifics but every other SF interview’s remember every exact moment. I don’t!
