THE MIGHTY VERBAL WIDGET !!! - Those "shadow" profiles were awesome !!!! - And Dave, I hate that climb out of Black Canyon City up to Sunset Point !!!! - What a great ride - Love seeing familiar territory !!!!
    Cheers Mate !!!

Thank you OW. That is a long haul up to Sunset Point for sure. Vstrom 1000 doesn’t even know it’s there, amazing machine. The camera never captures the actual steepness.

I’d like to get down to your area this winter sometime. Looks like you have some great places to ride. I may be a bit biased, but the VStrom looks great and works well. I’d be interested in hearing where you feel it’s better or worse than the 650.
With regard to the aluminum panniers, I’ve noticed my mileage drops dramatically especially in frontal winds and over 70 mph. The panniers are so handy, I wouldn’t do a trip without them. I also use a top box unless I want to carry gas.
You might consider adding auxiliary lights if you don’t have them. It will make it much easier for cars/trucks to see you. I installed Cyclops
Long Range Optimus LED Auxiliary lights. They work great, but I’m sure there are less expensive options. I have not switched my halogen headlights to LED and do not plant to.
I added Barkbuster Storm handguards and heated grips to extend my riding season. That may not be an issue in AZ. 🤣
I’m over 41,000 miles on my VStrom 1000XT now. It has been a great bike for me and where I like to ride.
My fuel range is very accurate. I’ve been as low as 8 miles of range. I took 5.0 gallons (5.3 gallon tank).

That would be great if you make it down, big red is a transitory bike, Monty the Montana V1000 is the keeper, and it does have the aux lighting, grip heaters and hand guards. I did put the LED in the V650 and Monty V1000 and it makes a huge difference with less energy use. I’ll be having videos on Monty and the trip home from Montana soon. Great to hear from you Tim.

Hi Calvin, yes, I have to carry my BIG eyes with me all the time in some form or another in order to function. I've been a member of the OMC for several years. Thank goodness it is a cheap fix. Take care.

So many nuggets of wisdom in this video Dave! The V-Strom 1K is such a great bike! Green to see you out there on it!

Thank you DOC650, the V1000 is an impressive machine and as good as the T700 was this would have made my USA 🇺🇸 trip sooo much better. Great to hear from you.

The Flagstaff to Sedona area is just beautiful. Speedometer reading fast has been the case with all 3 Suzuki's I have owned. Nice having the horsepower on that big, good-looking bike. I may go to the taller windscreen on my GSXS. Great that you are enjoying the new bike!

Yes Rob, Suzuki embellishes their bikes true speed a bit, northern AZ is beautiful as are so many parts of the state. You can ride desert to pines with in a few hours.

I was surprised that I now prefer the V1000 over the V650, I thought it would be a big boat, but the opposite is true, it's an amazing machine that hides its weight well, suspension is much better than the 650. Thank you

@@planeflyer21 you’re welcome, thank you, the mileage depends on speed of course but for me 45 to 50 mpg. Keeping the rpm under 4300 rpm @ 75 is the sweet spot. And most the time I’m not in a hurry.

@@verbalwidget7267 thanks. That's pretty reasonable mileage to me.
