I've learned so much from you already. I have smaller pets, but they are well behaved. My only issue is that I work at home and when someone comes to the door they bark in excitement. I am stuck at my desk with my headset. Nobody on the phone minds, everyone loves dogs, but how can I get them to stop that.

I have safely and positively trained my own various dog breeds throughout my 68 yrs of life. Including an AKC German Shepherd that behaved happily, beautifully and with zero reactivity (or other negative behaviors) by using only my hand signals. A beautiful thing to see, and a beautiful dog/family member with which to live with!
Having said this, I also have noted over the years that whenever I do agree to assist others in training/rehabilitating their own dogs, many humans do not appreciate "teaching moments" at all and they quit 2 or 3 lessons into it. It's as if the unhealthy side of their egos kick in. They somehow feel too embarrassed to even try to rehabilitate and redirect their dog's behavior. But they will spend thousands of dollars for someone else to train their dog. Then the dog comes home and within 2-3 wks those undesirable behaviors return because the owners claim to be too busy to continue to reinforce what the expensive trainer had already accomplished with that dog. It's a sad state of affairs today with dogs having owners who will not teach calm, assertive rules and boundaries.
Indeed, we do train the humans while we rehabilitate the dogs. Peace and love to you Cesar💫💞💫

I have been learning from you since you first came out with your show. You have helped me to build the most INCREDIBLE bond with my pitbull (got her at 4 1/2 months, she's now 10). I just want to thank you for that and for all the help with her training over the years. She is so close to me, like Daddy was to you. Thank you for the knowledge and for helping me the human as well. Blessings Cesar 💜

Well, I love Cesar Milan. I was delivering to a posh apartment complex in Providence and ended up in an elevator with a lady that had a small dog on a leash. The little dog just knew that I knew he was super cute and he wanted accolades from me, which I would have given but I know not to engage unless the owner gives signs that it's ok to do so. It wasn't okay to do so with this particular lady. So I did not engage, because I knew not to. I asked her if she knows Caesar Milan...and this is when I saw that she had a sign of warmth, which I did not see before. Upon mentioning his name, she changed immediately. She loves Cesar Milan, and said that her trainer resembles him and his work with dogs...though me and this lady are worlds apart, their is something we both could agree on ..that we love Cesar Milan!!!😊

It's incredible owners who struggle with their dogs can't make the connection that a harness empowers the dog/gives them more power, more leverage, and makes it extremely more difficult to reign in and control.
In folk/collegiate/Olympic wrestling you learn "where the head goes the body goes." Simple and so obvious but people would rather try and look cool with a harness than have control of their dogs and respect/listening from their dogs.

Thank you Cesar! I have a pittie mix...incredibly strong...I used a prong collar and he still took me for a walk..I purchased a gentle lead leash or Mexican halter..I cannot tell you how incredible the difference is now! We are walking everywhere now.. Changed both our lives!

Have had 2 Papillons in the past who could not safely wear collars but could only use harnesses bcs both had tracheal malacia (one was so severe she almost died when a spasm was provoked... fortunately the vet was there). Both were trained on collar/lead as pups, but when their trachea problems manifested as adults and worsened with age, both did very well when transitioned to harness.
Also one of those papillons loved to run, so I used a Xooter to keep up with her. As you said...wheels!
One of our chihuahuas loves to use the Tutto travel crate as her "den" ... we keep it open at one end and she often goes in there when she wants private time but still watch what we and her littermate are doing.
    edited for typos

I started to watch you on TV over here in the UK (England) about 17-18 years ago, I'd never owned a dog before so I thought it would be a good idea to find out what to expect from a dog, you opened my mind to the way a dog thinks and acts, after watching and learning from yourself I decided to put what I'd learnt into practice and get my own dog, I decided to adopt a cross breed Corgi/Jack Russell, the second I saw him I new he was the dog I needed 😊 not wanted 👍 I adopted him when he was around a year old (give or take a month) he was my bestest friend, always there by my side through the good times and the bad (I have mental troubles) he was like my support dog when things got tough 😢 he lived a long and happy life with his pack of 2 adults and 3 children with another dog added to the pack 8 years later, when I met my future wife 5 years later she also had a dog that she rescued but he was a damaged, abused, aggressive dog 😢 I remembered your training and introduced my dogs to hers at the front door making sure that my 2 we're calm and submissive, my wife's dog was not to happy to be faced with 2 dogs that he had never met before at his door, because of your training my 2 dogs we're invited in by my wifes dog and became a bigger pack with in minutes of meeting, sadly 2 years ago my wife lost her dog which didn't go down to well with my 2, 18 months later I losed my 1st dog 😭 he lived with me in our pack for 16 and a half years, because of your training (it's not the dog! It's the human that needs to learn and understand) I've been able to love, support and train 3 damaged dogs to live in harmony together as a pack with 6 chicken 2 adults and 2 cats in a difficult environment for the past 5 years, Cesar.....buddy.....thank you for helping me understand the love and friendship that can be achieved between Man and Dog, please don't ever stop teaching us stupid humans on (how to be more dog) Thank you Cesar 🙏
If anyone thinks that this is a stupid bot thing writing crap, it's not! I'm a real person! (VALENTINO ROSSI #46) the best motorcycle rider since (Kevin Schwantz #34)

Hi Cesar! Michelle here from New Brunswick Canada, I wanted to know what are some exercises to practice before socializing around other dogs, my little Pom gets excited around other dogs and I even when I correct him. He will snap out of barking but he will immediately start exciting barking again. He even redirects some of his frustration/excitied energy at me while I’m correcting him.

I bought a harness for my Chihuahua but size XS was too big for him 😂.

    • @Bitcoin-gj8vn
      @Bitcoin-gj8vn 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I disagree with the 'anti-harness' statements - but also - the way I clip the dog into the harness - is through the top, and then under the chin.
It IS important to control the mouth / face. Also - this method - I can tighten the harness a little by a gentle pull, so he's less likely to slip out.
I can also 'pull' the dog if I need to, but generally "grabbing the handle" is the best way, and just carrying him (back legs on the ground).
I walk 2 street dogs each day, about 2 miles. I will try the weighted vest! Great idea! But my other street dog - she goes loose. With a harness on - so people could (if needed) easily grab a hold of her - and so she is more visible to cars (she is all black otherwise). The bigger dog - and Caesar is correct - train the big dog, and all others fall in line - I must correct action frequently. She has killed 100+ cats / iguanas in her life. She has been in 100+ street dog fights.
For her, the harness is good, but also CAESAR IS ALSO RIGHT - that the best tool is 'love and attention'. I stick her nose in-between my legs - and pet her aggressively when she is 'hunting' (Caesar is also right - pointing - leads to barking - leads to hunting - leads to killing) - and this is the best at calming her down and continuing the walk.
When 'her blood is up', it's impossible to control her too much - beyond force, aggressive petting. But I think without a harness, she would hurt the throat too much. In the past she has tried to kill herself to follow me out of the house. She's very obsessive. :D
I walk her each morning - but will do now with a weighted vest! Great idea! :DDDDDD

The harness is one of many points of contention in dog training I use a harness but I have control of my dog and he is a boston terrier with bad breathing problems so I use a harness however for big dogs I would reccomend a prong collar and leash or use mexican halter like Ceasars says.

Some great tips.. you've definitely adapted your philosophies. I like what you said about using a harness. Spot on. I definitely need to try out modifying a slip lead into a halter. My girl, Fresa, loved running beside me as I rode my bicycle. She could go miles.
I tell people to think of a crate as a dog's den. It should be treated as their safe place. Wild dogs and wolves tend to sleep in a den.
    Great video, as always.

I watch all of your videos. I enjoy the longer ones the best. I have been involved with dogs, my whole life, just as you. I think on some of your most recent videos you said that you were going through some personal things. I’ve got you in my prayers.
I really enjoyed the part about the crate, a lot of people think it’s mean but dogs trust their crate/den.
    Keep up the good work.
Also, I have a young German Shepherd in need of help. She’s a great girl, but she has a very excited energy. If you are interested in helping her, you can reach out to me.

The first time I used a “Mexican halter” was on calves in 1967. We had cattle and my father taught me to use that little piece of rope behind the ears and slip his nose thru it and you have control of him just like you do on dogs. Of course back then we didn’t have to walk our dogs because they worked and they wanted to lay down every afternoon
    Good video Cesar

Absolutely love these videos, I have a staffy x mastiff and when she was younger I was teaching her to stay off the bed, off the lounge, out of certain rooms. I live at home & help my mum after she had a stroke, when I was at work or gym she would let her do all the things I was trying to make rules not to do. Also, my nieces and nephews when they came over when I wasn't here did the same thing, she's 11 months old now & only past couple months I feel I've lost the battle to regulate these rules. I've noticed since then she doesn't listen or respect some of my commands like she did in the beginning, if I moved out, at 11 months is it too late to put these rules back in place without confusing her? Because clearly my family think I'm harsh except my eldest sister, I feel stuck between a rock & a hard place!

I started preferring a harness from the first time I put one on. The dogs had a habit of pulling. But that stopped IMMEDIATELY when I attached their lead to the FRONT of the harness. They immediately learned that if they charged they were immediately redirected right of left. They never pulled again. The key was attaching it on the front of the chest.

Brilliant video, thank you. So a question I can't get an answer to even from vets is, do you have to wait for a dog to be fully grown before using a weighted vest or backpack with stuff in it to make it heavier? Also, is it a max 40% of the dog's body weight they can carry? I think I remember you saying that one time but need to check. Thanks.

Can we please have a video on dog PTS: key factors to help them overcome that. You touched on that here with the treadmill, which sounds great, but I mean actions to help that does mot necessarily involve heavy physical activity because in our case, what the PTS came from also caused physical injuries. And dealing with PTS when the dog is not allowed to be active is extremely extremely hard.
I have figured many ways and those have worked, but I would very much appreciate hearing a professional take on that.
    Thanks 🤎

Edited and corrected; The thing is Mr. Millan that I have allot of respect for you, but II adore puppies, they’re a part of my soul family. I respect them love them and it is a privilege to be around them I ve had a lot of puppies in my life. I’m exactly as old as you are, I feel that you can train puppies with lots of love and repetition, Good energy and just lots and lots of more love and so they trust you and that comes from love and they ofcourse love you back unconditionally so no need for crates.

Dogs are like children in some ways. You wouldn't just love your child, right? You teach them that the stove burns their hand, or if they get into the fridge in the middle of the night and eat something they may get sick. Some dogs need the structure of crate training to feel safe, and that's okay.

Hi Cesar ❤ Could you offer ideas on working with puppies? Im noticing that my 12 week old Cunucu (Iris) is becoming possessive of me. I adopted her 4 days ago and already she growls when dogs or people come around me, even at a sister who lives with me (my sister is cognitively challenged). How soon can I started with addressing the possessiveness?

Should we allow my Dog (Dashound) to ‘guard’ when I leave the house.
I allow her to see out of the floor to ceiling window…. Should I put her somewhere where she can’t see out.
    Am I making her neurotic…
My tiny dog is so easy to handle she knows her ‘place’ when I need to open the door …her thanks for that great tip. X
I am amused because I train her simulator to my Horse…

After my premium diet the dog never barked again, guess what…It doesn’t even move! Which is quite impressive ❤
If you guys don’t have any chocolate bars or latte lying around it’s fine, you can make the dog some snacks by combining cooked onions with dried raisins, with some barbecue sauce (don’t forget the starch sausage). It also helps calm down the dog, after multiple feeding prevents it from barking and moving around completely!
Want to stop the dog from pooping but don’t have any gum balls? I got you covered , add 5 tablespoons of white or clear glue (Use pva school glues) then add 2 tablespoons chicken powder along with soup stock powder into the mix, mix throughly finish with 3 table spoons of contact lens solution you will get a slime.
You feed the slime to the dog with multiple feedings it will effectively stop the dog from pooping completely!❤

Do they have a head harness for a chihuahua? I have a 10 week old chihuahua and she will not allow me to put on a harness. She bit me quite hard.

Your shop online does not have the Mexican halter. My wish is to purchase the correct halter for my 40 pound Aussie border mix. My wish is not to resort to the random Amazon search. Where can I source the halter you talk about, please?

I’d like to learn how to handle recall training my 8 mos. dog when playing fetch. She completely understand and engages, but sometimes will run up to me with the toy and then turn and speed off. I’m not sure if she wants me to chase her (not) or is exerting control. She’s extremely gentle, playful and a fast learner. I’ve been walking away quietly and just ending playtime with no touch, no look, no affection till she comes back to my side. What’s the best way to handle this?
