Yeah. Chihuahua owners don’t treat their dog like a dog. But like a doll. Dressing it up and carrying them everywhere. To me it’s very sad to see be because all dogs pretty much have the same instincts and desires. And for these to not be fulfilled can be disastrous as we’ve seen through Cesar.

These techniques really do work for dog to human resource guarding. We don’t have that problem w/our 2 dogs. Neither couldn’t care less what we do w/their food or treats no matter how much they want them. This took a lot of work using these techniques, but it’s successful! My issue now since adopting a puppy, is dog to dog resource guarding. Not from the puppy, but my older dog, who was an only dog for 5 yrs. I’ve employed many of your techniques on the puppy, which has made her absolutely free of resource guarding. But, my 5 yr old border collie mix has been a major challenge! Luckily, she’s not aggressive; no biting, no lunging to snap, etc. I think the fact that I keep working on it is what’s kept her from going to that next level. But I still wanna reach my goal of appropriate behavior/reaction. There’s a big difference between another dog actively trying to steal your dinner & the cat casually walking 3 feet away from your fave ball. For my girl, every situation where food or prized possessions are involved is like another dog shoving their face in her bowl. There’s also a concept of sharing component that’s missing w/her that’s been impossible for me to teach. Even respecting her personal boundaries, she’s resistant. I’d love to see a video on addressing dog to dog resource guarding. Especially for difficult cases/stubborn working breeds that already have instinctual guarding habits in their DNA. I really need your help w/my border collie mix girl!
@@CesarMillanOfficial Cesar I've been trying to convince my boyfriend to let me get a dog but he won't go for it. What is the best breed that would be naturally calm but still the outdoorsy type good with going hunting and fishing.
OMG: “You’re pretty much barking with the dog”. This is me exactly! I adopted my pit bull 2.5 years ago when he was two. He never barked at all. I’ve taken him to the dog run almost every night since I got him, then about 6 moths ago he started a habit he picked up from other dogs: he now barks at anything (and often at nothing at all) that’s happening outside the dog run when he’s inside. He totally ignores all the dogs in the run with him. He barks at people passing the run, he barks at dogs approaching the run, but if they come in he ignores them. Some nights it’s been pretty cold so there’s been very little activity in the park, but he barks more the emptier the park is! At first I didn’t mind hearing his voice and I figured who cares if he barks in the dog run, but now it bugs me, especially since he’s a pit bull and ppl might think he’s aggressive. Funny thing is he looks totally relaxed when he’s barking, as if he’s shouting in the wind, but I wish he would STFU. I don’t know how to make him stop...I get embarrassed and start berating him. It’s annoying.
Dude I got goosebumps as I read this in the middle of the night. I just imagined your dog doing all that. The scene at night and the barking of the dark empty parking lot was like a scene from Ghost whisperer. It's as if your dog is seeing something and he's barking at it and you are totally clueless of that entity.
As one of my friends once said at an accident scene---"Check your own pulse first." Check YOUR energy first, then get engaged with your dog's energy. He needs to be engaged with you, too--his attention needs to be redirected and deflected by you to where you want and need it. Put him on a leash, and when he barks, get his attention by 'ssst' or a touch. Tell him 'no'--quietly and calmly. Or 'no bark' is what I use, so he knows that it's something specific I want him to stop, Not even in a conversational tone--a quiet, calm tone where you simply expect him to obey. Generally, they will. Reward with attention and quiet calm praise. After a fair bit of work, I use 'aht!' instead of 'no'; it gets their attention on me, where I want it, and they check in to see what's up when they hear it. When you're at the park and he starts barking, call him to you, praise him, then do some serious obedience with him. Give him a job--something to take the place of the yapping you don't want. Eventually, barking will become the signal for YOU to do YOUR job--engage with him for serious fun. Then you can work in coming to you and asking for attention instead of barking, and there you go. As for appropriate barking--I ask my dogs to 'watch'. If they feel barking is okay, they bark at whatever it is--and it has to be SOMETHING--and are praised, then told to shush and watch. If they bark inappropriately, they just get told to hush, and are expected to do so. If they don't shush....they're aware of something I'm not, and it's time to get the flashlight and go look. Patience and persistence will get you everywhere. Good luck!

My dogs love picnics. After walks or play in the park, I get the towel down and they share lunch. Their favorites we can share are boiled eggs, baby carrots, and veggie potato chips dipped in yogurt, and of course, beef sticks or pieces. They like PB&J sandwiches, or Braunschweiger sandwiches too. But sometimes it's just dog food, they like it better in the park. It's great to have a little lunch when I reach the summit or peak of any hike, where we get to sit and just enjoy the view to rest before going back. We mostly do treats after we're back, but on longer hikes, that's a good snack time. People need a change of scenery too. I don't want to forget how beautiful my surroundings can be when I leave the house for walks instead of just the neighborhood walks again. I save those for the cold, dark or rainy times, or when I'm in a hurry. They go with me whenever possible. We have our great spots everywhere. Behind the shopping centers, dog park on the way or way back from shopping. Window coverings for hot days with windows down to the no escape point, run in and don't forget the dogs are waiting. Every day is an adventure with dogs.

Plenty of tells here...

Thankyou Cesar, through learning your techniques and concentrating on the right energy and years of studying it..I was able to turn my once aggressive dog into a calm balanced and happy dog, we had a great relationship.
Just let the dog be a dog. God gave us this gift to learn from these things. Its a mindset that youre dog is a good dog then if he does bad. Ignore and correct immediately. A sharp call like "hey" as if you stop a burglary. That send the dog to remind him that YOU are in charge
I have enjoyed Cesar Milan for many years. He assisted me in the proper way to love my dogs and also I would like Cesar to meet them😀
Wow, have to take notes! So much great info here! U need to watch this over and over again.... why..... becuz, each time you watch it u get new information...as ur dog tilts his head looking at u watching Cesar Millan videos!
This is so good! Cesar is a great teacher, of humans and dogs.
I just loved the part when you talk about chihuahuas being spoiled and dogs and being made aggressive by their owners. I'm going to show it to every chihuahua owner I know.
This method works equally well with German Shepherds & Huskies, too.
I have a Chihuahua lol. He's a baby 🤷 but, most others I've seen are horrible 😂 mine grew up with all pitbulls though so I think he thinks he's a big dog too
@@Karina-Loves-Andreas ......and kids......exercise, discipline, affection in that order.....and no violence or punishment just correction - which is a completely different thing.....and don't expect them to do things that you won't do....
@@panchopuskas1 What do mean don't expect them to do things I wouldn't do? I expect him to do a lot of things I don't do, our motivations & interests are a bit different!!🤣🤣🤣
It is a great dream of mine to be able to meet Cesar in person and have the immense pleasure to hear him. It would be an honor difficult to put into words. I'm so saddened when people waste other people's time and energy. I don't know the girl and I don't want to sound bitter but I'm really annoyed when I see ignorant and ungrateful attitudes. It's all about the attitude. The willingness to learn. I think the reason I admire Cesar so much is his tremendous humbleness. He is so gifted and yet so humble. Be humble and try to be educated every single day. It shows. I don't even have a dog. I never had. But I love animals more than anything. And I always trust people who love and understand animals. Cesar is a beacon of a healthy and balanced lifestyle and I deeply hope we turn our heads to the light more.
👆🏽THIS!!!👆🏽 ...Perfect, Beautiful Comment!
I don't have a TV and have never seen your show. A friend of mine told me I could find you on TH-cam. I have a 2 year old boxer and we have been to obedience school when she was a young puppy which was very helpful, but she wasn't eating and the only time she would eat would be if my husband or I fed her or we were eating. But, I never made the connection! This totally worked and she loves that we stand with her while she eats, she seems so much happier! Thank you!
Agree with you. That womans body language is closed off. Animals are honest

You have a great ability to explain things ! Everything you say makes so much sense!😀
I like your videos, and surprisingly everytime its the owner that needs to be taught not the dog
Thanks for reminding me of the importance of the ritual of feeding Cesar!
one of my favorite videos of him. Uncut, lengthy lecture. i wish he had a million books or podcasts.
10:11 She's giving a signal, omg Cesar is right! she's telling the human she's ready because she's humbling! 😮
Cesar's teachings are crucial.
Cesar has an obvious gift of reading the energy of dogs and humans. Actually all living beings. And he has mastered his way of communicating what he wants to teach us to know about what he has learned in his life experiences. I’m very impressed and I respect Cesar even more now than I did years ago and I enjoyed watching The Dog Whisperer. He is doing what he was inspired to do and I’m inspired by him. We all have a special gift. And it’s up to us to use our gifts in a way that helps not just ourselves, but others as well.
Thanks for the video Cesar. Its been fun being able to watch you more. This was a great video for me because it reinforce the importance of a good feeding ritual.
I love these videos of yours where they are largely un-edited and you're working with people and their companions. Thank you, Cesar!
Watching Cesar dog whisper is always amazing to watch and reminds me how to be with our dogs (and other dogs). Love Lorenzo the llama. I would love to meet all his animals someday! Thank you for sharing this video, Cesar!
HI Cesar, thank you for sharing all information about dogs I am a dog lover when I was young thou I dont own one now, maybe in future. Good and kind of you to share the information.

Thank you Cesar, you are truly a gift from God to all of us. So happy you immigrated from Mexico, proof we need more good people with profound intelligence, grace, and education. Thanks for teaching me Dog Language 101, I'm adding it to my resume, I'm bilingual, Spanish/English, and now Dog Language. Muchas Gracias por tu educacion de perros y animales. My life has improved, dealing with my 7 month puppy. Forever grateful to your teachings.
Cesar is WAY overqualified for this particular dog/owner. Glad to see him making real money again. God bless Milan and his family and God Bless America 🇺🇸

Ceasar is being filmed, so he's helping everyone who sees this video.
Looking good as always Cesar 😍
You make me smile :)
@@CesarMillanOfficial Cesar I've been trying to convince my boyfriend to let me get a dog but he won't go for it. What is the best breed that would be naturally calm but still the outdoorsy type good with going hunting and fishing.

You can really feel Cesar's passion. What an amazing human being.
Good luck!
BEAUTIFUL, SOULFUL, SPIRITUALLY POWERFUL LESSON IN A GORGEOUS SANCTUARY. THANKS SO MUCH.
That's exactly how I trained my German Shepherd when it comes to feeding time I started teaching her that at 2 months of age and of course being a German shepherd with her intelligence she picked it up very fast and it works now she is 7 years old and has total respect around food
@JM G I wish, I have read 2 of his books ,seen all dog whisper and interviews
@S Anderson dog and all animals can understand energy and body language. Also animals will react to any language theat is used to rained them.

Not about this video.
I just watched an old dog wisperer today with Fluffy in Las Vegas, i have never ever seen a dog who didn't want to walk like that, then such a quick turnaround how you got her to walk by being so patient was incredible.
Interesting the way Cesar teaching train dog which reminding me about my job how to caring children. The energy talk, the behavior how to reflect on other behavior, learn a lot from video in many ways thank you
Love your videos Cesar, i have put them into practice since the first time i saw witch was many years ago, and have work wonders and people even told me i have some special connection with dogs, and i try to expand this dog knowledge to everybody i can :).

You can tell when people aren't actually processing anything that they're being told.
She's a sensor, not an intuitive thinker type. She doesn't seek knowledge or understanding, she just wants the answers.
The problem with that is, sure get the answers however do you KNOW WHY this is the answer? She doesn't seem care, just fix her dog. Dog isn't the problem, she is. She's not the type to grasp that.

Not only did you read her wrong & "everyone" on the show, you read me wrong as well.
@@AM-fh7ek You totally just re-translated everything they said into them thinking everyone is stupid. They did NOT say you or the lady in the video is stupid. In fact, you were the only one who used a word close to stupid (i.e. ignorant). It's like you are looking for a fight like a small dog.
And that's why I could never be a teacher. No patience's.
You are totally my hero, Cesar! I’ve pretty much followed your teachings since you first began. My 3 dogs never jumped on anyone and were very well behaved. I had an Italian Greyhound, a Big Boston Terrier and a small miniature Poodle that I rescued. I never liked the breed as they were snappy and yappy. Not this one! So grateful to be rescued that she was the Best Dog ever! I guess they’re different with the right owner, verdad? They are all long gone now and I have difficulty walking with Nueropathy and don’t have a back yard so I’m waiting till I move from Georgia to Florida where my only family is from. My son, his wife and two grandchildren. Then I’ll get a pit bull I hope. I had my son’s dog for 2 years and when he finally took him back I rescued another. So nice but had separation anxiety. I’ve never had to deal with that ! Anyway he was taken from my backyard . He was too nice and would go with anybody! So I’m just biding my time till I move near my son and get me a new dog. I have no yard here. Anyway Cesar I just wanted to tell you that I went through the same situation you did with my husband of almost 30 years wanting a divorce. I’ve been grieving for 10 years and have wasted all that time in my life. I’m glad you found someone to share your life with. It’s probably too late for me but I’ll be ok. My best wishes to you and yours !!

I learned how to feed my dog from watching your show years ago. I still ended up learning something new by watching it.
That point about the chihuahuas is so on it and delivered in a way that had me laughing out loud. “Next time I’m gonna kill everybody!” 😂😂
Chi's are a terrier breed. The overly confident "big dog" attitude is typical for all terrier breeds. Not just Chi's.
Nice. 🙂

Its so clear here how different generations are able to interact and hold themselves. You can tell immediately that she has a short attention span and hasnt really developed real world communication. Ill hazard a guess and say she is trained by instant gratification from social media.
Shows through her dog too.
Judgemental much? ADHD is a real brain difference that affects attention. Ignorance would assume hers is from something she did wrong.
Her body language says it all. She's holding herself and literally gripping her shirt as well.
100%. It’s clear she has very little in-person connections with people that doesn’t involve “content” and her interaction with Cesar is awkward. She is using this for her own content and not really for the actual knowledge and help only Cesar can offer. Such a wasted opportunity.
