    Thank you Trusty, because you have SO much more empathy than I do for dog owners that don't put identification collars on their dogs and/or don't bother to train their dogs to have a reliable recall.

    I can't stop thinking about what happened to Bobby; I literally came to tears telling a coworker about it today. We need a nationwide campaign for animal-safe driving. If people would go the speed limit (or less), stay laser-focused on the road and roadside, and NEVER outdrive their headlights, things like this wouldn't happen. To Bobby's family, I am so sorry for your loss💔

    This is why everyone needs to put a geo-tracker on the collar of their cat or dog. Apple makes an air tag but there are others out there probably equally as good. They sync with your phone and will tell you exactly where your furry family member has gone.

    Had a lovely little English Pointer whose formal name was Bianca Loves to Run…as a puppy. She was smart and an absolute escape artist. It was so bad that before I went to the door, she went on lead. My teenage sons were not so consistent. She got out and was rolled (fortunately) by a car. Fortunately it was rush hour and traffic was very slow. No injuries other than road rash and a mild sprain to one leg. I’ve had a couple of other dogs who got away once or twice, but she was the queen. It can happen to the most careful owner and is so scary, especially if near a busy road or highway.

    LOL, I nailed the puppy assignments. The way the one gal's face lit up about the lab, I knew she would get it. You want your handlers excited about their dogs. Same with the stronger Belgian, but that one I mostly nailed because I knew the more experienced boss lady would want to ensure the timider dog was under her tutelage. I'm the same way. You can instill confidence into a timid dog if you know how and I've done so many times so that they were able to have a successful career. But if you don't know what you are doing you can end up with a fearful dog that can become dangerous. I would guess any one of these trainers could do well by any of the dogs, but I knew the lady with more experience would take the more difficult dog. That said, that gal with the bold Belgian is going to have many moments where she's rethinking her life choices, LOL. But I think she will train up an phenomenal tracker.

    I don't understand why shes using an improperly fitted prong collar on a hound WHILE it's working though.. I wanna feel the tension on the lead when my dogs pick-up the trail & get excited to track. That's how I know they REALLY have the track & are confidently following it. With a prong, the dog won't put pressure on the lead if it does, it gets a correction for it..

    We had an escape. Artist little English pointer. On one occasion hubby had her on a long dragging lead and she took off a deer. I tracked by her bark in response to my calls for her for many hours and finally found her tangled in a wood fall. I’m quite sure she and I had the same joyful, relieved expression! Last time on a dropped lead! Hubby was impressed.

      Only time I had to track my own dog, My old male pit took off after a rabbit that ran across the yard one afternoon.. Typically no issue ! But, we were miles & miles up on a mountain in Maine in the dead middle of winter, during a snowstorm! Snow made it easy to follow his trail lol but if you know rabbits, they go places no human should ever have to😂 snow almost to my waist in some areas, going in a couple circles, up, then down, then down some more, then back up.. finally found him 4 and a half hours later.. he got his rabbit too🤦

      @@mikefrost1312 glad mine got lost in autumn! I had to chase her so many times…she was an escape artist and so very sweet. Once she made into a mars and rolled in something unidentifiable and truly awful; had to was her three times to get the smell out. Gagged a lot during the first bath!

    Tracking handlers need more training. Why would you make a trail right next to the railroad tracks? So while you all didn't find the chihuahua (dad found her), I wonder how many wildlife animals, feral animals, and pets that y'all got killed due to y'all enticing them towards the food next to the tracks. And the flour thing is super comical, you know, because no other animal would try to eat the cat food since it's for Emma only.. LHH

    • @msdarby515
      @msdarby515 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you paid attention you would have heard him say he found the chihuahua right where the tracking dog indicated she was, in the wooded area off of the train tracks. That's why they laid the trail there.....they didn't just randomly choose next to the railroad tracks for absolutely no reason. That's where the dog was tracking. Would you lay the trail a quarter mile off the tracks where the dog ISN'T traveling? Genius!
      If wild animals don't know how to not get hit by a train, then they should probably be removed from the gene pool. My brother is a train engineer and they almost never hit an animal. Much safer than the roads and highways.
      So, know-it-all, how would you, with all your tracking expertise, have done it? Hummm?
