I miss Bravo. I used to work for them and they really tried to make good food in house. The inconsistency comes from the nature of them trying to make good real food that wasn't from a bag. If the recipes were followed the food was really good but getting every cook to do each recipe exactly every time is hard. Unlike Olive Garden that cooks most of it from frozen. Sadly Bravo got sold to a new parent company and that parent company has HORRIBLY mismanaged the restaurants. Covid likely will be the death stroke for Bravo now.
There are not too many of these in San Diego. There are a couple of Buca di Beppo. I looked at the menu, and I was shocked! What happened to reasonably-priced Italian restaurants?
I still haven't tried it, but I want to. In Santee, they opened a Nicolosi's. Way overpriced menu. I prefer to make my own or get a frozen if I want a quick fix.

A lot of restaurants went under during Covid. Macaroni still exists, they just don't have a lot of restaurants any more. Only a few in some major cities.
I had a feeling Maggiano’s would be #1. I always recommend the chicken and spinach manicotti and rigatoni D. And the chocolate cake is enormous and the apple crostata. Plus if you have 4 or more people they do family style. Huge portions. Gets my vote!!
I’ll always support the local mom and pop places, but Maggiano’s is the shit. My wife and I ate there on our honeymoon, and we go once or twice a year. I like Bertucci’s a lot. Our location has BOGO on any large pizza (including make your own), every Tuesday night. Check online for your nearest location. They also have good take and bakes. Pasta for four for only 14-17 dollars. I’ve been to Macaroni Grill twice. I thought it was gross.
Funny I have been to about 4 of these restaurants and my FAV since 1997 …
Bucca Di Beppo ♥️
And
Maggiano’s macaroni and grill. ♥️
Bertucci’s is actually pretty good it did fall off over the past couple years but overall solid
The Rigatoni D, at Magianos is simply fantastic!
Old Spaghetti Factory is the bomb!
The best Italian restaurant is at nonnas house 🤗
The only one on the list that I would look forward going to is Carraba's. Their Chicken Marsala is incredible. I've been to all the rest except Maggiano's, so speaking from some experience. Johnny Carino's was great back in the day.
I’ve been to Maggiano’s I prefer Carrara’s and yes their chicken marsala is one of my favorite things ever.
Fazoli's breadsticks are better than Olive Garden's and you didn't even mention them.
SO TRUE! I miss that place, they closed down in my area 🥺
can't please every complainer on the web
Last time I was at Olive Garden it was 75 bucks, 2 pasta dishes, 1 appetizer, 2 drinks. Time before that they were serving a expensive meatball sub on a bread stick with teeny tiny meatballs, no joke. Never Olive Garden again because it just sucks. Best Italian is my house. Cheaper too.
"it' also yummy that nobody's taste buds are complaining" a good read
Are most of these places East coast? I haven’t heard of most of these.
Maggio's 24 states, mainly east coast except CA. Carrabba's, 217 locations, mainly east coast except NV, CA, Co, Il. Buca Di Beppo, 72 locations, mainly CA, PN, GA, TX, NJ, FL, AZ, CO. Romano's Macaroni Grill 15 states. all regions. The Old Spaghetti Factory, 40 locations, 12 states. Brio Italian Grille, 34 locations, 13 states, AZ, CA,, FL, TX, VA, etc. Biaggi's ristorante italiano, 17 locations, 9 states, the 9 states that are in the middle of nowhere. Olive Garden, 900 locations. It's called "GOOGLE", your welcome.
So are any of these Restaurants in Canada as i live in BC & have never heard of them.
I agree. For all the chain Italian restaurants mentioned, Maggiano's is the best.
For the ones mentioned, I agree
I've really only had Olive Garden - the chicken parm is great and the breadsticks are fantastic.
That’s all that is good is breadsticks and salad
There are not too many of these in San Diego. There are a couple of Buca di Beppo. I looked at the menu, and I was shocked! What happened to reasonably-priced Italian restaurants?
I know. The ingredients aren't that expensive.
I still haven't tried it, but I want to. In Santee, they opened a Nicolosi's. Way overpriced menu.
I prefer to make my own or get a frozen if I want a quick fix.
If anyone is from south Jersey you need to go to Ninos in cape may down the beach , it is best authentic Italian food ever made servings are insane size they make everything from scratch sauce is amazing highly recommend
I can't figure out why macaroni grill went bust. That place was truly awesome. The bread that they served before the meal was stellar. You really have to wonder why something so great can fail.
Mediocre at best.
Yeah alright, relax fatty it's just food.
I’ll always support the local mom and pop places, but Maggiano’s is the shit. My wife and I ate there on our honeymoon, and we go once or twice a year. I get the same thing every time, and so does she. She gets gnocchi , I get the baked ziti. Fried mozzarella ( sometimes I’ll get sausage and peppers or calamari too). Creme brûlée for dessert.
The best Italian restaurant anywhere in the US is the Chicago Pasta House in Moreno Valley, California.
Wonderful stuffed pizza and great pasta. All family owned home cooking
