  • There are days when cooking food, setting the table, and washing the dishes is the last thing you want to do. A home-cooked meal is a blessing, but sometimes the process of getting it on the table can be tiresome.
That’s when you whip out a frozen dinner and toss it in the microwave. Frozen dinners have been making their way to American households since the 1940s, and they have been feeding families on days when cooking food is the last thing on the agenda.
After over 70 years of existence, which frozen dinner brand can claim to be the best? We tried 16 frozen dinners, and here’s the best one to buy.

My grandparents did that too. Stouffer's lasagna, spaghetti, mac and cheese, those were their favorites. Or on occasion their french bread pizzas. They'd have a salad or vegetable along with them, and some ice cream afterwards. Pop liked a big hunk of buttered Italian bread with the spaghetti, and a glass of cheap wine after.

I am 75 years old and living by myself and enjoy cooking for myself, I have usually always had a couple of frozen meals in the freezer as a standby but 5 years ago I was diagnosed as a pre diabetic and have found almost all of the ingredients contained in a frozen meal are unsuitable , high in carbohydrates, potatoes, rice, noodles/spaghetti, breadcrumbs over all meats, I don’t have any frozen meals and I still am not on any medication for diabetes because I cook for myself,

By the by, does anyone remember when everything Stouffer's made was so good you honestly would never know it was frozen. You could invite people to your home, serve Stouffer's and pass it off as home cooking, seriously. But I gave up on them long ago; all of their chicken has been "McNuggetized", the Green Pepper Steak - steak my ass - is inedible mystery meat and their mashed potatoes are revolting. I could go on but why bother. The fine and proud name of Stouffer has been tainted and slandered in the name of greed. I guess the secret of making superior frozen food is now lost, perhaps never to be known, gone the way of the Great Pyramids and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

I guess that shows a lot of people likes this variety more than the other Stouffer lasagna varieties. I think it is because it has ricotta cheese. The only lasagna I like better is my own homemade lasagna.

The secret to the best frozen mac n cheese you'll ever have.
    Stouffer's (not the family size).
Microwave for half the Microwave time while preheating the oven. Then remove and cook the other in half oven time, plus 5-10 minutes if you like that little bit of browned cheese crusting the top.

I can definitely vouch for the Stouffer’s lasagna. It’s probably the best store-bought tv dinner lasagna. However, for a better-tasting with little to no preservatives, I have to recommend the lasagna from Costco. It comes frozen and takes about the same amount of time to make in the oven and is honestly as good as Mom used to make and on par with most restaurants.
