Hellman's is the best Mayo, and yes, Best Foods is its name out west. Always has been, and always will be, the best; unless of course KraftHeinz gets its claws on it.
I had been using Hellmann's for over 60 years since I was a child, as it was the only mayo my family ever bought. But after tasting Dukes at a friend's house just about a year ago, I switched. Dukes is creamier and more tangy than Hellmann's.
I grew up on Dukes. For a long time we would have to have it shipped from South Carolina once we moved to Texas. I was so happy when we finally got it here!!
All brands took a big hit in flavor whenever they switched from glass to plastic jars I can not remember what year the switch happened maybe in the 70'S but plastic jars come from the store tasting old I remember glass jars staying good at least a year after purchase, I am 58 years old just little past my "use by date"
Totally agree. You might not have realized that switching from glass to plastic jars required modifying their recipes. The ubiquitous use of canola oil was another serious blow to taste & longevity, it starts getting rancid tasting as soon as it's opened & sometimes even before opening. Plastic containers have ruined taste of food.
I always agree that foods and condiments, are much better in quality, stored in glass jars. Sadly, today the prices of food go way up, while the quality goes down.
If you were to read the label you would see Miracle Whip is a salad dressing. Literally an oil and vinegar dressing in a stabilized form. Probably intended for use on salad like potato salad, macaroni salad, chicken salad, or other concoctions where oil and vinegar would not really stick nor bind the ingredients together. Actually quite tasty and very popular.
I have made my own mayonnaise and it has been always wonderful and tasty for sandwiches and salads both. I can use onion powder , garlic powder, also add a little paprika or rosemary depending what I be making at that time. But when I was a kid on the farm mom had Miracle Whip set for us on the table. Those are my two favourites to use.

Blue Plate is the absolute BEST. I’ve taste tested most of the others. You said it perfectly when you said Blue Plate could be eaten by the spoonful. I’ve done that. 😋
The winner is --- Miracle Whip Based on the comments, Miracle Whip should be in a separate category of condiments not mixed in with mayonnaise. That would separate category (salad dressing) would likely be the largest seller of all condiment categories. I like Miracle Whip and mayonnaise but they are not the same. And in most instances I use salad dressing as the preferred condiment with Miracle Whip topping that list.
Miracle whip is discussing. We group with it as kids but that’s because we didn’t know better. That’s what are parents bought. But as I got older I couldn’t stand the taste of it. Then I realize it wasn’t actually mayonnaise it’s not of a dressing.
I grew up with Miracle Whip, my Dad would NOT buy anything else. While today, I prefer Dukes (or even the Walmart Brand Mayo), I still go back to Miracle Whip for my Pasta Salads, Egg Salad/Devil Eggs. There's no beating that oddly strong taste that Miracle Whip has! But for a sandwich, real mayo is the only way to go!
Being a BiCoastal all of my Life, it was Hellmans/Best Foods all the way. Incredibly, BLUE PLATE, to my shock, displaced them. After 60+ years! 🤯Yep, that egg power packed, creaminess toppled me right over. In everything, the Blue Plate really stands out. Give it a try! 💯😁👍
It was good to hear that Hellmans was your top choice, it's mine as well. Any sandwich I make is Hellmans. The only two items I use Miracle Whip is tuna fish and coleslaw.
I made BLTs a couple of weeks ago. Miracle Whip on one slice of toast, Duke's on another. I like the added zip of MW, but just a touch. Love it in tuna salad and coleslaw. Recently heard of Duke's, saw it in my grocery store, so I tried it. Can't taste much if any difference than Hellmans.
Miracle whip...it is what it is ...I buy it by the gallon ...not to be compared with flat tamer taste of mayonnaise and I do like them both...but it's like a regional dialect and personal preference for taste. You better believe....it's Miracle whip....rant off.
@@gulliver3644 MW is actually better than mayo on most sandwiches like cold cuts of BLT. Never use it in recipes like potato salad or chicken salad though.
Thanksgiving leftovers....fresh bread, softened butter, Turkey, salt and pepper, iceberg lettuce for a little crunch, and a smear of miracle whip salad dressing..Yum!
UPDATE: Hellman's just went Kraft mayo on us. About a year ago Kraft thinned out their Mayo, Hellman's just did the same thing and watered it down. No longer thick. I'm now buying Duke Mayo as they are not yet cheating us and their Mayo still thick.
Yes I think Hellmans went thin so I tried Heinz and it was nice and thick but I think Hellmans went back to being thick, my three mayonnaise that I like Heinz, Hellmans and Dukes also Mike's mayonnaise
I love Hellman's because it has that egginess that mayonnaise is supposed to have. But my sister prefers Miracle Whip, so we have both in the refrigerator. I've tried Duke's and it's tasty on some things. But not eggy enough for me.
I grew up on Miracle Whip and hated the taste of Hellman’s when I first tried it. As the years passed and tastebuds matured, I fell in love with Hellman’s and made the switch to it. So realistically these are the only 2 ‘mayonnaise’ brands I’ve ever tried. I don’t know why this video had to lay so much disrespect towards Miracle Whip. Ridiculous. Miracle Whip is AWESOME, STILL, to me, but love Hellman’s FAR more. Open to other suggestions as well!
I've had Hellman's most of my life, but I always had a slight stomach ache from it. I tried DUKE'S for the first time a couple years ago, and I don't get the same stomach ache. So, I've settled on DUKE'S!
Miracle Whip is branded as “salad dressing” It is sweeter than Mayo. Kraft was my childhood Mayo, but Duke’s is the true “southern Mayo” apple cider vinegar makes the taste difference.
Kewpie: *Fuiyoh has entered the chat* All the other brands: *Haiyah has entered the chat* Though Best Foods/Hellmans is the main brand we use at the house because of my family, I will buy Kewpie if I had the chance to make some interesting dishes.
I loved Hellman’s until some enlightened soul introduced me to Duke’s. That tang is why it’s such a great sandwich spread. Bonus, more flavor means you can get by with a thinner schmear and save a few calories.
Duke's is the best! Blue Plate is also delicious!
Dukes and blue plate are from the south therefore they have the most flavor. If you eat Hellman’s or Kraft you are suspect

Alice, I agree Dukes is the smoothest and creamiest of them all.
I'm from NC and now live in Michigan and I have to order my Duke's online. Won't use anything else.
Excuse me beezy, but I enjoy miracle whoowhip on a few items. So shhhh
You probably also put sugar in your pasta sauce and grits too huh? 🤢🤮
me too, some things I like MW on, other things, Mayo
I grew up on Hellman's and. yes, it is very good. I have since switched to Duke's and like it much better.
Moved from Chicago to FtWorth 30 years ago. Same story, switched from Hellmann's to Dukes.
Can’t beat Dukes !
Found Dukes in the past year it’s tops in my book
I love “Miracle Whip!”
Me to. Mayonnaise is to strong for me especially that made by Heinz.
Gag me. I thought I hated mayonnaise growing up. My mother always bought Miracle Whip. Out on my own, I started buying real mayonnaise.
@@markrichards6863 Congratulations!
@@Bushkangaroo59. Thank you. I wouldn't even bait a rat trap with Miracle Whip.
My 92 year old father eats Miracle Whip. He would never consider using mayo instead.
Blue Plate is all I have ever had outside of national fast food chains.
Duke’s is the best Mayonnaise 🙌🏽
Yup, Hellmann's is where it's at.
Even Martha Stewart has said "It just has a nice taste." I also like the consistency of Hellmans not watery or thin.
Dukes all the way!
Bring out the Hellman's and Bring out The BEST!!
Hellmann's is the best! Heinz is a close second, then Blue Plate, then Bama, then Kraft. Sauers and Dukes is garbage, some store brands is better!
McCormick Spanish mayo is good, it's an acquired taste.
@coingecko Lol 😂 🎬🎤🎧🏁
You spelled Duke’s wrong…
@@southernpaths2986 hmmmm, I checked it...looks good to me. 😄
Duke’s should be #1 🤨
Duke Mayonnaise is the most expensive I've been meaning to try it I'm Hellman's person myself.
I love America's Test Kitchen's reviews but OMG you guys are so savagely on another level.
Don't care what you say, Miracle Whip will always be my choice.
And that is ok. Just know it isn't mayonnaise.
It is what is, and with a stupid name. Still, it's better than mayonnaise.
Not mayo tho
@@hyperrreign1352 not an issue for those of us who like it.
Miracle whip...it is what it is ...I buy it by the gallon ...not to be compared with flat tamer taste of mayonnaise and I do like them both...but it's like a regional dialect and personal preference for taste. You better believe....it's Miracle whip....rant off.
I love miracle whip, to race it’s own!
I agree with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE it, too and WON'T eat anything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NO mayo in this house!
I have both Hellman's and Miracle Whip. Hellman's for the base Mayo taste, and MW when I want some zing to it (is it the higher amount of vinegar?).
I work at a market and basically Helmanns sells the best.
Mom always served Miracle Whip at our house. I always serve Miracle Whip at my table. It's delicious!
Dukes is tops. Period.
I like Miracle Whip, always have. I also like Hellmans for potato salad and BLT's.
I came for the mayo and stayed for the miracle whip hate.
miracle whip yummy
😂😂😂
Miracle whip? Horrible!
@@gulliver3644 MW is actually better than mayo on most sandwiches like cold cuts of BLT. Never use it in recipes like potato salad or chicken salad though.
LOL
Do you have anything on butter would like to know which butter is the best
Raised in a French family where we made our own mayonaisse.I still love Miracle Whip!
WHAT! IT’S GROSS
@@TR-ne7tt Lol 😂 Wait just a minute! Iam half Canadian French! What's wrong with homemade mayonnaise? 🍰🍰
I bet it was awful. Being French doesn't mean anything.
Good to know that Hellmans is at the top‼️🙂
I like Duke's Mayo 😀
@plain truth Garbage is Squishy I like Garbage and Dumpsters , Garbage Truck's too 😀
Blue Plate tasted best on America’s Test Kitchen over any other brand!
Agreed. I grew up on Blue Plate mayo, however many times I have to go out of my way, to find it nowadays.
@@seanswinton6242 you can order it on Amazon
Literally never seen that brand even
@@kiwisoup it’s here in Louisiana and south Texas, Mississippi. There were some brands shown I’ve never seen.
Hellmans has always been the go to mayonaise. Although I think it's flavor is too intense for baking.
Makes a killer butter/oil substitute for grilled cheese sandwiches
I’m sorry but A sandwich isn’t a sandwich without the tangy sip of Miracle Whip!
Thanksgiving leftovers....fresh bread, softened butter, Turkey, salt and pepper, iceberg lettuce for a little crunch, and a smear of miracle whip salad dressing..Yum!
HELLMAN'S PLEASE!!
Hellman’s is the best
I love Miracle Whip!
Only Hellmann's in our house , but I'm interested in trying Duke's after watching this video.
duke's is ok but hellmann's is better
I will eat any brand of mayonnaise but all things being equal I will always choose Miracle Whip as my favorite.
You could just say you prefer Miracle Whip over mayo, because Miracle Whip isn't mayo.
@@jomidiam ok but then why was it included on this list?
@@jamesboswell530 Good question, because when they talk about it in the video, they say themselves that it's not mayo.
Now I understand their jingle: "Bring out the Hellman's and bring out the Best."
After 20+ years of marriage, we still have miracle whip for him and Mayo for me
My grand daughter and other family members eat Mayonnaise, so I buy a small bottle for guest.
My Mom liked Miracle Whip and my Dad liked Duke's mayonnaise. My sister and I ended up hybrids who ate both but each on certain things! 😂
BEST FOODS - Hands down The Best🙌
I like Miracle Whip for cole slaw, but I make my own. All you need is Hellmann's mayo, some vinegar and sugar to taste. That's it.
Dukes is good! Not expensive!
Kweepie has the crack of condiments MSG (uncle roger voice)
Kewpie: *Fuiyoh has entered the chat*
All the other brands: *Haiyah has entered the chat*
Though Best Foods/Hellmans is the main brand we use at the house because of my family, I will buy Kewpie if I had the chance to make some interesting dishes.
I knew Hellman's mayonnaise was the best.
It is what I use and no matter what I use it for Hellman's had never let me down
I loved Hellman’s until some enlightened soul introduced me to Duke’s. That tang is why it’s such a great sandwich spread. Bonus, more flavor means you can get by with a thinner schmear and save a few calories.
Duke's mayonnaise is extremely popular down South.
Hellman's is great! My favorite!
You usually can not find Duke's mayonnaise up North, unfortunately.
Awesome video thank you
Hellman's is the absolute best!
Dukes is by far the best mayonnaise you can buy!
