Irrespective of the pros and cons of the twig and wand, my area comes under Thames Water - Byelaws in the region state that any self hooking mechanism is banned , hence why Farlows would have had to say no as they would be in breach of regulations
I'm in the Thames valley also and a committee member of our local fishing club and we found out that it's allowed in private waters such as club waters and day ticket but up to club ultimately! On public waters and rivers it's upto a 50k fine if caught using it!
This is what makes carp fishing so much fun, I fish carp for more than 60 years and after the invention of the hair rig it really took off, the only thing you need is a hair rig with some corn and a running lead system very simple and you will catch carp, but all the new inventions after the hair rig gives a lot of fun and created a huge market you do not catch more carp it’s the fun of playing what makes carp fishing even more attractive. I wish Ali a lot of success with his innovative ideas and bought 2 pair , I am looking forward to trying it out and off course I will go back to the simple setup a running rig with a tiger-nut on the hair after a couple off sessions playing with the Magic Twig 😂
I cant get past the footage of the turtle thing tugging at the hook bait and the claim that nuisance fish and crayfish etc wont trigger the device.....can someone explain to me how the thing knows exactly what has picked up the hook bait
If you ask me to design a small rake to clear weed from my swim, then Ali as smashed it with the twig, I’d probably say three prongs but two ok as well 😂
I'm not exactly into this.. but then when u think about a lead or a cage rubbing the sides of the fish...then this ain't exactly that bad is it.not the twig...for snag reasons ..but the better new version don't seem too bad in some ways..just saying....but then again I am old school and since the 90s all sorts have come along and it is a bit of a joke now ...with boats and all sorts ..depth finders etc.. drones... the baits etc.... but it is what it is... fishing is funny old game..
@@CarpTechReviews-r2u Haha don't be silly, people would much prefer that over AI, trust me. I'm happy to do any talk over work for any vids for you if you wanted.
If you cant catch fish, without using a self hooking rig, than you are not an angler, you are a fish trapper, there is no pride in trapping fish. GET BACK TO BASICS AND HAVE A PRIDE IN WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
Any rig that has a semi or fixed lead is a self hooking set up , all this does is make it more effective. Myself it’s another bit of crap you don’t need
Listen up all you skeptics. If you want to go back to the basics, then why are you fishing with a hair rig or a bolt rig?🤷♂ After all, it was once invented and you are use it. Even the bolt rig catches the fish for you and you are do not mind it, wake up people. Ali would never, ever released anything that would be dangerous to fish.
Ali has just got money on his mind look at the prices of all these gimmicks the park bench £170 get a grip mate if you need this to catch fish try golf Ali don’t care he’s lost his way all about the money now and all these new products just prove that OMC THE BRAND OF THE NODDY
I also remember as a kid pushing a hook through a piece of lunch meat with just the bend slowing out the top and put in a small twig😂 or piece of grass through It still caught carp but hair rig was essential. 👍
LOL, hair rigs do not hook the fish, whilst bolt rigs do, how dare you suggest everyone uses a bolt rigs. Go back to basics and enjoy your fishing , with pride.
The US allows bow fishing. I hate it because it kills the fish. This contraption, isn't nearly that bad. Using it in known waters with heavy line should make it break free. It's not some magical device to catch a fish either. It still relies on the fish taking your bait with a mechanical advantage on the hookup.
Manufactures should be making more effort to reduce the amount of plastic entering our waters.

A semi or fixed lead ie bolt rig set up is a self hooking . So by the bylaws your only allowed to use a running lead
What’s the trigger weight of the new wand ? Can’t find this info anywhere

It probably has a place in a survival situation where catching fish for food .

I wouldn't buy anything OMC. I really liked Ali whilst at Korda. He's changed. His products are crap. He's gone strange.

@@gregmonk9037 Bolt rig is unnecessary too and dangerous as well and you are using it... 🤷

Another load of crap a carp will be towing around if your cut off!
It's no good, dont need it, carp safety 1st.
Might as well allow spear fishing, embarrassing piece of trash.
